Returns to having multiple speed/flight/power playables (Sonic/Amy + Shadow, Tails/Cream, Knuckles/Rouge) but the flight/power characters don't get cucked with different game modes this time I still prefer Sonic/Amy. It has SA2 level presentation where you first play the full level then have four side objectives in bite sized sections of it. Boost is present but drains quickly, and so far I haven't seen any boost game lane segments.
