So a sandbox is the future? You can't think M+ gets you wondering what's happening when you're logged off.
>I want a sandbox>but no full loot PvPSo a themepark?>muh material repairsSo full loot PvP with extra steps and the winner gets nothing?
bot thread
>>750725074I'm the material repairs guy. While I do think a game like WoW could add material repairs and be a sandbox (and really good, especially without bind-on), I don't want just material repairs as a PvP server without full loot in my sandbox. Full loot is enough. Thank you.>>750725141Meds.
Themepark MMO- Log in.- Queue for a dungeon.- Complete the activity.- Receive rewards.- Log out.Your progress is primarily tied to completing developer-provided activities.Persistent sandbox MMO- Log in because your guild needs supplies.- Trade with someone you've developed a relationship with.- Defend territory with people who depend on you.- Compete with another group over resources.- Develop a reputation that affects future opportunities.Your progress is intertwined with other people and their activities.I think the contrast is obvious.
How did the French manage to make the best MMORPG of 2026?
ChatGPT has a lot to say on gaming science. Can you find anything interesting?Do you have any other questions?https://chatgpt.com/s/t_6ae6756726048191b059794ece0826f0
>>750727928And the latter dies as soon as people don't feel like logging on, and it becomes 100x as tedious to have to do and organize all the grunt work. People here wank off to the platonic idea of sandboxes but in practice they're just the most boring gameplay on earth and a 2nd job.
Viability of MMOs sweetening their playerbase with fleet of bots of varying abilities?
>mmo>futureonly aging millennials play mmos. it's a dead genre
>>750729475Sandbox PVP MMOs are also self-destroying because the end goal between any competing groups is to get the other group to stop playing so they'll have full control over the game only for the winning group to then realize that this situation is boring as fuck once achieved so they also stop playing as well
>>750729475>And the latter dies as soon as people don't feel like logging on, and it becomes 100x as tedious to have to do and organize all the grunt work.I don't want to jump to conclusions. The whole game would, in theory, be as fun as dungeoning all day. And what else does a game like WoW offer? It completely nerfed gathering and crafting (and thus trading). The world is almost completely meaningless. So, it should be easy to mog WoW by providing a living world.
>>750729586I want to see an MMO that includes botting ... at least with full loot PvP.
>>750729897An MMO is any other game but with the social identity of thousands of simultaneous players.
>>750730081Actually, the end game of competing groups is sharing everything and having scheduled, rules-enforced PvP.
WoW cannot be fixed.
>>750727928>persistent sandbox MMO>every major guild is part of a NAP (non-aggression pact)>violate the NAP and you get blacklisted and doxxed>guilds take turns claiming system-generated rewards, often selling them for real money>rampant RMT>price-fixing and cartels controlling every aspect of the economy>scout alts monitoring every corner of the mapSandbox MMOs like EVE and Albion are run like the mafia.
>>750730816Yeah, it can. And it's worth it since it has some of the best moment-to-moment gameplay.
>>750731170Do you actually think it's not possible to have a sandbox MMO with a good economy, thrilling WPvE and WPvP, and official RMT a la a real money auction house?
>>750731596>official RMT a la a real money auction house?MMOs are already fighting an eternal battle against bots. Devs should make games with fewer incentives to bot, not more.
>>750727928>- Log in because your guild needs suppliesSupplies for what?
>>750732569Bots aren't going to supply millions of players. People mostly follow the EULA. It's absolutely not a reason to forego the #1 innovation in gaming. People could quit their job and play a videogame. And have fun, literally all day every day.
>>750732875Ammo, cloths, leathers, ores, gems, herbs, gear, potions, high crafting skill ...
>>750732948How is a legit player supposed to compete against the bot farms?NFT MMOs are nothing new and they always fail for the same reason. There is simply no reliable way to distinguish real human players from bots.
>>750733469Ideally, it would be on a PvP server with full loot. But people can buy low and sell high or, if somebody is cornering the market, farm. But something will be lucrative, because it would be really hard to control the whole map (events and everything).
>>750733469>NFT MMOs are nothing new and they always fail for the same reason.Do you have a few examples?
I HATE RUBY LIFE POOLS!I HATE RUBY LIFE POOLS!
I think a real money economy would be the decisive incentive and socioeconomic investment to play all day and really enjoy gaming. Almost everybody could make $1,000 a month, and maybe quite a bit more. 100% nutrition is like $100/mo.
>>750733317That didnt answer the questionWhat do you need those supplies for?
>>750739503The best example I have of a sandbox (and game) is ARK, where hits and attacks cost durability, so you need resources to repair sometimes very expensive equipment. Ammo is used often. Potions are used often. You could have missions requiring you to make and deliver items for a town board for money, upgrading crafting stations, and gaining reputation. You could supply NPCs/factions with items. ARK also has a really good breeding system that requires you to be there when babies drop or eggs hatch, to make sure troughs have food (or baby wyverns have wyvern milk), and to do various things to increase imprint percentage (which, at 100%, increases damage dealt and decreases damage received by 30% while being ridden by the imprinter, and increases stats by 20%).Also, ChatGPT has some interesting takes:https://chatgpt.com/s/t_6ae6af0631248191a75b82d58375bf8e
