>game lore is explained in tie-in comics
>>750764446>game lore is expanded in lengthy novels
>game lore is explained in item descriptions
>characters backstory is only explained in the scripted podcast
>game lore is tied to not just just one but like 3 mobile gamesFuck you kingdom's hearts
>game lore is totally unexplained>it's kinoWhat game?
>>750764446Fuck you darksiders.>>750765240And even then not really. It's just bad.
>>750764446>game lore is fucking dumpstered in tie-in comic
>>750764446>>game lore
>>750764446>game protag dies in some random novel
>game lore is explained in braille scarrified on the developer's back
>>750764446>game has a manga>the events are different
>those few years during the 2010s where every major AAA franchise wanted to expand into books, comcs, podcasts, movies, etc
>>750765874Some of the comics were entertaining. I remember dead space had a shitload of tie in stuff. Shame about that series
>>750764446>>750765110>game's prologue, story and ending and epilogue is expanded in novels and web comics and podcasts and is MANDATORY if you want to understand anything at alli fucking hate halo 4 and 5
>>750765427Dwarf FortressYou could go through your world's history, the wars that took place, why one empire hates the other, why a Panda-man rules one Elf civilization, and why one empire got destroyed because some demon waltzed into their main city. But that would require too much time and is autistic.
>game review>review is just a summary of the game
>>750764446the MKX comic threads were fucking great though
>>750764446>original ass creed storyline>dragon age prior to gayguard
>>750764446Worse is when you're demanded to read two fucking novels just to know what the fuck is even going on in the sequel and what the fuck is even the covenant.
>game "fans" expect me to treat books as canon
>>750766338It's funny.Back in the day warcraft fans loved continuity. Now they have a melty anytime book lore is referenced.People used to read, I guess.
>>750764446I kek at the times a zoomie lorelet in a KOTOR thread just starting to play the series starts melting over the massive amount of lore dump that is thrust upon them, with stuff like Marka Ragnos, Ajunta Pall, the tombs in the Valley of the Dark Lords, the Great Hyperspace War, the Schism, the 100-year war, why the Sith and the Republic have animosity with each other, and the Sith Empire, because they haven't read the comics.
>game has lore
yeah ill stick to tanizaki and faulkner, thanks
>>750768826He's right. Look at the amount of lore LotR has and how little you need to know to enjoy the trilogy.
>>7507659865 is just an objectively bad story, regardless of how much you know. You could know about blue team, the Spartan program’s history, who and what Buck has done, all about Hasley, and whatever whackydoodle crap 343i decided to make up, or you could know none of this stuff other than what’s in the main games, and 5’s story is crap either way. 5 was made for no one, not book nerds, not casual fans playing just the games, not old fans, not new fans, and to make it all the funnier, they just killed the whole plot of 5 in HW2 or something. So even if you cared about nuHaloblore or were connecting the dots, 5 can be skipped. It doesn’t matter, it adds nothing to 4’s or infinite’s story. Freaking ODST is more valuable as story than a numbered mainline entry.
>>750769058Lore is one of the worst things to happen to gaming, especially from an "artistic sensibility" standpoint. It makes writing feel hollow, plastic lifeless and encyclopedic. Just autistic info dumps that impresses mindless automatons and robots.
>>750765289>faceless corporation tries to brute force a new major franchiseDid this start with Aloy or is it older?
>>750766560Warcraft ended in 2004. There hasnt been any warcraft related content since then.
>>750765240i love fromsoft games bros
