Now that the dust has settled, what do we think of the new mysteries/characters

None of the new mysteries left much of an impression honestly. with the amount that we have in the game now I reckon it would be better for the dev to flesh out the existing ones and give them more fleshed out endings/routes. Even the small stuff they did with the forest tapes in this update was kinda cool.
I haven't had the chance to try the Tarot card girl yet but the other two new characters are both decent but there have definitely been more interesting character gimmicks added in the past (Speaking of gimmicks I think if Kouji's photobook was something you could use in a regular run it would be a really cool one).
Scenario mode seemed really cool at first but I feel it's a bit too linear to have much staying power, I worry that if we ever get more content for this game these scenarios will be the devs focus going forward as well.
Still a pretty solid update with a few things I still need to figure out/unlock from the new achievements. I just wish it didn't take the dev so long to finish these

>flesh out the existing ones
There was some noticeable minor changes to Abnormal Arms/Ramen with some mystery-specific events towards the end of those, but I'm not sure if there was anything else for something like Medusa or Timeline B
>>
>>750805521
Yeah, those were pretty small but they're the kind of stuff I'd like to see. There is some real disparity with certain cases in this game in terms of how complicated it can be to get the 'best' ending. I think it would also be cool if the endings you went with had a bit more of an impact (eg. burning down the school in the mermaids case, fleeing with the tapes in the forest footage case).
>>
As much as I like World of Horror, I feel like the scenarios have too much randomness in their rolling for success or failure. Of course, the alternative is that once you beat a scenario, you just play it the same way every time and win, but it never feels good to fail a dozen checks in a row from bad luck.

I kind of wish the game was heavier on the resource management side, where every scenario required you to pass so many checks or burn items/stats/gear to pass them instead and you had to decide just how far you were willing to pursue things in order to get a good ending. Like, burn through too much and you'll find yourself unable to survive a combat encounter, but play too conservatively and you won't be able to succeed on enough checks to properly finish the mystery.

Love his title, THE ULTIMATE OPPORTUNIST is great.
>>
I did the one where the teacher makes the school come alive and all I could do was cast a damaging spell, which I had to get by damaging my stamina, healing my stamina with another spell and getting an injury each time, leaving me crippled by the time I killed it, like 2 stamina and four injuries

There surely is an easier way to fight it?
>>
>>750805707
You basically described how the game is played once you know enough about the events in the game and the different case endings
>>750805780
There is a special combat option which will appear off to the side which is for attacking the teacher (Pay attention to that part of the UI during case final bosses as a lot of them have some unique options)
>>
>>750805780
There's a unique action in that fight.

quiet, you'll upset people who think this is a great game purely because of the vibes

we have new shit?
fuck im gonna go reinstall now. i fucking hated how there is no content and how stale it is, but the game itself is really fun to go through a couple of times.
do we finally have a use for the telescope?
do we have new shit in the apartments?
someone post hairy armpits

>do we finally have a use for the telescope?
There's an achievement and everything!
>>
>>750805707
One big thing missing from Arkham Horror is the ability to sacrifice progress to reroll skill checks, just having that option would do wonders in giving the player more agency
>>750806076
>telescope
yes
>apartments
what, the location? we have a mountain location to explore now
>>
>>750805974
It is a great game purely for the vibes, it hits the atmosphere square on the head. But yeah, the gameplay itself isn't all that awesome and detracts from it.
>>
>>750806161
Being able to burn doom to succeed would actually be a pretty good option, especially because doom quickly becomes a problem and you'd have to really limit yourself. I guess in a way you kind of can do that by resting at home.
>>
>>750806282
its great to play over the initial few hours, but yeah the vibes really does do a lot of the heavy lifting. I wish the game really has more options with your builds or something, and more flavoured randomized events instead of just a hard skillcheck for everything you do
>>
>>750806392
The difficult skill checks are bad enough, but I really hate the events which are just outright bad. Like going to explore somewhere and just losing 2 SAN with zero counterplay.
>>
>>750806392
>really has more options with your builds
To be honest for that to happen, you'd probably have to do a complete overhaul of the items and/or perks system. You can't really make any sort of 'build' from the items you get right now as you would in other roguelites and character perks as they're designed right now are either too generalised or just reinforce the character gimmick rather than opening up build options. I'm not too well-versed in Arkham Horror's systems and how it handles items/perks but I'm guessing it's similar and WoH is trying to be somewhat faithful to that source.

I find the implication that the cult fucked up their ritual for the random select kinda funny, this update has quite a few good tidbits of giving the cult more character

How do I take screenshots in this? The usual button for steam doesn't work.

print screen into mspaint

How the fuck do i do the 10 metro in 1 playthrough achievement? They're talking about the bus event right? I've done like 4 endless playthoughs with everything disabled and been unable to do it.
>>
>>750808446
I'm pretty sure the metro is a new thing you can get with the city planner (like the police station, illegal den, etc)

One of the endings for the new scenario has them bonk the protagonist over the head and throw her in the house themselves because they got tired of waiting
>>
Best way to "destroy your brain"? Also what ear protection?
>>
>>750808752
Makes more sense if that's the case, just gotta unlock it.
>>
>>750810991
With the Telescope on the rooftop with Ath
Ear protection comes from the mystery about that cave that whispers sins, you gotta do the side quest to get it
>>
I don't understand how to get the A ending in the forest tapes case, I did the sidequest, and I've picked both options in the cabin, but it just gives me B and C.
>>
>>750811887
The sidequest reduces the number of locations to explore in the forest. You need a specific item can of acid for ending A.
