>slowly
It’s been going at lightspeed since 2018 and the COVID years, ever since the platforms themselves (PlayStation, Nintendo, Steam) got compromised. Not much room for being based when the penalty is not even being allowed to release your game. Meanwhile Google and Apple barely give a shit for some reason, which is why gacha is able to get away with the things it does. You can’t tell me something like Caladrius 2, a simple bullet hell shooter with light Senran-style fanservice mechanics, would be facing the issues it does if it were a Play Store gacha when Snowbreak and Brown Dust 2 are on there. It feels like the major retail platforms are just not interested in entertaining anything but the GTA and FIFA audiences these days.

“Western standards” is whatever Sony, Nintendo and Steam say it is and if you don’t comply you aren’t allowed to release your game. This is why Japan fell. There’s a gap in the market for anime fanservice games that no one can fulfill because Sony Nintendo and Valve just ban ban ban and censor anyone that tries.
>>
>>750841813
Have you already forgotten? It's the credit card companies that start throwing a fit whenever the market for lewd games becomes too big and public. It can only exist as a back alley market that is small enough that you can pretend it doesn't exist.

The ultimate bottleneck will always be the ability to transfer money. It's like j*ws, there's all kinds of problems in society but none of them can truly be fixed until the root of the problem is addressed first.

>Why can't they just make normal video games?
Because constant returns on investments from even a minority of users > one singular purchase + maybe some DLC.
>Why does it always have to be gacha?
Because that's how the monetary model works. How would you force someone to keep paying for an action RPG? Constantly releasing new dungeons next to no one would buy or play because they're endgame which only 1% of people even reach? I hope you understand that the majority of spenders in gacha games are people who don't even touch endgame, the statistics from consoles even show that because in all of Mihoyo's games most people haven't even cleared their endgame modes or have even gotten past the half way point of the games even with quick starts. ZZZ literally puts you at the latest chapter if you want.
>How can people enjoy gacha?
Autobattlers turn your brain off. You don't need to think and just pull for designs you like. They're also exceptionally easy to boot up once a day for two minutes and put away again.
Actual games like Genshin Impact, ZZZ, Wuthering Waves, Neverness to Everness, and Arknights: Endfield are actual singleplayer games. Their gacha aspect literally does not matter and only amounts to you being able to do endgame modes which, again, only a very small percentage of the population even play. Yes, you're mostly roaming their worlds to get paid currency but that generalizes the games to such a degree it's extremely disingenuous. They are actual games and in the case of something like Genshin or WuWa legitimately could not have been made in the scope they are in without being live service gachas. You'd have a game that's the first area, maybe one or two extra areas, and then that's it with paid DLC being a third map and the end of the story.

>They are actual games and in the case of something like Genshin or WuWa legitimately could not have been made in the scope they are in without being live service gachas
You can’t say the gacha aspect of these games doesn’t matter and then out the other side of your mouth say they couldn’t exist without the predatory gacha model. Being able to make such large amounts of cash off such a model necessitates that the model is fulfilling its function (of creating and milking whales). F2P players can only exist because they are subsidized by whales. Your enjoyment comes from the exploitation of some other player, if every player was F2P there would be no gacha. So downplaying the predatory aspects of gacha games is incredibly disingenuous, you cannot deny that the model exists to psychologically exploit and extort players and every game that adopts it necessarily engages in the same practical.

>You can’t say the gacha aspect of these games doesn’t matter
It doesn't matter in terms of being able to play the game. The majority just pull to get a character they want and nothing more than that. They are not caring about any other aspect other than it being a character they want. The only use these characters have is in endgame content and only that as normal content is balanced around default free characters or gimmicks free characters can grant you. Autobattlers are the only genre of gachas where your progress is impossible without pulling.

Yes, the games only exist because people pay for them, but pretending like you NEED to pull for anything is ridiculous. Unless your goal is to participate in endgame modes to get a whopping 5 pulls every three weeks there is no reason to ever pull on anything unless you want to.

>more depth
Gacha games have no mechanical depth or complexity. If they did, they'd alienate the whales and other casuals who make up the majority of their income.
Planning for shit and then taking months or years to execute it due to RNG and arbitrary daily/weekly lockouts gives the illusion of depth because of how long it takes to do. But the actual combat component is always braindead simple.

Then in late-stage gatcha things get fucky because you're trying to balance the people who've been playing for years against the new people with heavy wallets. You don't wanna piss off your veterans by invalidating their "effort" (read, mindlessly logging in to spam daily autobattle content), but also don't wanna chase new potential whales away.

I know what you mean.
I don't even hate gacha on principle. I've tried to play many of them. I can even deal with the monetization.
But they all have the same time gated incremental progress simulation that eventually turns into a daily habit more than an experience you really look forward to. Hell the more different ones I play, the more quickly I recognize the patterns and grow uninterested all over again.
I'd rather these crazy ecchi games just be games you're intended to play through and experience in full over a short time than just be bait for eternal engagement.

You literally don't need to even level up beyond lvl1 to do anything but the endgame in most AAA gachas. The only real progression gates they have these days are account lvl gates that basically force you to do some side quests before marathoning the main quest, those are not even tied to dailies.
You choose to grind the game and then complain about the grind.

The only meaningful and remotely engaging "content" these games have IS the endgame. Which really only amounts to a mildly entertaining puzzle where the solution is either:
>shell out big money and gamble for the winning piece who is either perfectly tuned for the current event/update or has arbitrary buffs for the duration of it
or
>condition yourself into doing mindless dailies for years so you can execute some kind of esoteric bespoke solution with the dregs you've cobbled together
You either spend a lot of time (which can't be done in one lump-sum) or a lot of money (which usually isn't guaranteed) - if you don't do either then you can't engage with anything fun.

Trickcal has none of those things though? All of the story is unlocked instantly, and you don't need to do any of that shit for it. And 99% of the draw of the game is the story, as seen in this image, in which the big plot point of chapter 1 of the game is getting through a toll booth, the chibis you have to tard wrangle didn't think of pushing up.

But that's the thing.
Even if I pay I get nothing.

First off, you're not going to have all the characters at any point. You're going to have maybe 40% if you're lucky if you're not paying at all, 70% if you buy the BP + subscription.
Second off, you only need a single team and even then a single DPS can carry the entire team for any singleplayer content meaning you don't even need a fully built team. You also outright cannot upgrade everyone fully as level 10 upgrades to your skills are tied to a material primarily only given through events.

The only reason you would ever care to build a full team or kit them out in high tier gear is if you are going to do the endgame meta content explicitly made for people who pull characters whose only reward is more pulls to pull more characters. If you do not care about that you can literally use whatever team you want, with only main stats on your artifacts for that character not even considering substats, with completely random weapons you obtain.

>>
>>750850336
The overworld doesn't care about that, it's use whoever you want whenever you want. "Muh teambuilding" is for endgame modes. Cryo Traveler (Free) + their 5* weapon (Free) can clear all singleplayer content for you as long as they're paired with any Electro character (Lisa is free), and you can throw Qiqi in there too if you want (Now free and guaranteed from a selector starting with the next patch, or just lose the 50/50). Fourth character can be Kaeya (Free).

This all assumes you don't pull on anything at all and get any other 4* or 5* characters either for the overworld.
>>
>>750850385
uh oh, now the shitskin will use AI to search for some godforsaken game from the SNES or PS1 era where technically you can't get literally everyone due to a handful of characters being locked to either a specific route or ending

and if that's how you view it that's fine. South Korea and China have a major piracy problem; no one who makes a normal game can support themselves on it. Gravity made Arcturus, and it was hailed as the Korean RPG of the decade (despite some controversies), but after using its engine to create Ragnarok Online, it changed everything. Every game needs to be online, and it needs to be hosted on a server to prevent pirate low-budget pirate servers.

And by pirates, I don't mean low IQ leachers like you, I mean another game company who puts zero work copying the game and selling it to low IQ leachers who'll buy a disc with every game in existence; there's no any developer they can compete with this. Every game has to be online to combat it.

Every one of those games was actually banned or censored, often by multiple platforms like Tokyo Clanpool. That one managed to slip through the cracks means little. Nintendo, Sony and Steam all have censorship policies disproportionately targeting ecchi games and fanservice in Japanese games has overall declined sharply since they were implemented.
>>
>>750850693
To fund the game and keep people interested past a singular week or if they're lucky a month. If Genshin Impact released as a retail game it would be Mondstadt + Liyue, Dragonsine would be the free update a few months into release, and then the only paid DLC would be Inazuma where they finish the game by handwaving the story to a finish. If Wuthering Waves was a paid game it would be only Jinzhou, Mt. Huanglng and the Black Shores would be paid DLC, and then it would have ended the story at the Black Shores.

Fundamentally these games wouldn't exist without the systems. You'd have extremely small games than what they actually are.

>>750850701
You can fully complete every location, the story, the side stories, the events, and everything but the endgame modes. The concession is you will only be able to obtain a handful of characters. If you want to collect all the characters that's fine, but it doesn't prevent you from doing anything else in the game.

The majority of these titles come from companies with their own self-censorship policies and/or retarded publishers that refuse to release outside of a specific platform. Most of them also refuse to challenge the platform holders. Konami on the other hand has balls and refuses to be bullied.

I wonder if they understand at all that the way they shill the game is really obviously two-faced.
>IT CAN BE PLAYED FOR FREE AND IT'S ALSO DEEPER THAN MANY OTHER GAMES
Actually translates to
>You can play for free but it's as deep as a puddle of piss
or
>You can pay pig like an addict and chase a meta that is super complex(for a phone game)
The very base, default level issue these games have is they're made for phones. You can't make overly detailed controls since they need to be doable on a touch screen. You're never getting a DMC3 or Ninja Gaiden 2 tier combat system from these games since the inputs are too demanding for high level play. Even a step down like Oneechanbara is still too complex since there's extra mechanics at play that require extra inputs(blade cleaning and blending that into your combos)
The comparisons they post when trying to claim they're equal or better also shows their fuck up. Flashy animations aren't what we're talking about. As a wise woman(Does Kagura count as a woman?) once said
>There's all this slashing going on but for all we know it could be a rhythm game
It's not the animations we care about, it's the inputs. And inputs for gacha will never be as complex as high or even mid tier action games as your complexity level is set incredibly low by default for needing a touchscreen in the first place.
>>
i love how this thread barely discusses Trickcal or Patima at all lmao

>>

Japan made many fanservice games like senran kagura and they all were just niche because the mythical wide gooner audience just doesn't exists.
They still make many porn games with gameplay and most people just pirate it.
>>
>>750850889
>You can fully complete every location, the story, the side stories, the events, and everything but the endgame modes.
The goal of a video game is not just to complete it. It's to have fun. Most gachas are intentionally super easy, and made accessible for people with touchscreens, so they are hardly ever any fun to play.
>>
>>750850767
What's funny is they wouldn't have this problem if they were a higher trust society like japan or if they made IPs good enough to get fans that are loyal enough that they feel bad about pirating and end up buying the games/media properly like even overseas otaku tend to do.

>The goal of a video game is not just to complete it. It's to have fun.
Which you can. Many of these big ones exist because the fun is in the exploration, not filling out a character list or the combat. The combat is a means to an end that is the exploration. I do agree with you that they're easy though, make no mistake. WuWa at least has the boss simulations that gain special attacks for people like you who want the combat to be involved, but when I and many people go into a mobile game I am looking for something casual, not serious. It's why people revolt when the endgame modes get way too difficult because it's not why anyone is playing them.
>>
>>750851001

It's a double edged sword with a sharpened handle.
On the action side they can't have anything complex, it has to be dumbed down "press x for awesome" trash that keeps getting increasingly dumber because the average IQ of a phone user keeps getting lower.
In theory in the turn combat side they could have shit as complex as they could possibly want, even surpassing the autistic turn based JP games in complexity, in practice they always end up making games where each character has like 4 moves tops because they NEED to make the menus huge ass buttons for their phone apes to mindlessly spam.
I cannot fathom how can gachaniggers claim their slop has any real complexity when even their "complex" turn based games like shart rail end up less complex than pokemon, a game for literal japanese toddlers.
And this is ignoring the powercreep issues which means every new whore will always trivialize all past content by just spamming shit at random with no real power cap, which long term ends up breaking the gachas with 90% of the roster at any given time being literally useless, 9% being barely usable, and the other new shiny 1% needing you to fork over money or save the free gibs for a literal year because they are a super duper special limited, only for her to get powercrept next limited banner anyway.

Piracy is a shitskin problem.
High IQ people, even when poor, have no issues saving up then jumping through the hoops needed to larp as a JP buyer and use JP storefronts.
Meanwhile low-trust "modern audiences" can be given a PC port with no DRM (besides steam itself) in their language and for cents due to a -90% steam sale and they will still just pirate it and do mental gymnastics to justify it.

>censor every bit of fanservice out of regular games and then go the extra mile and make everything lame and extra off-putting
>people would rather pay multiple games worth of money to get a single appealing character than to buy one "real game" that was made to spite them
Go figure. You wanna know what's extra hilarious? The west can't even be greedy right anymore. Ever notice how they don't have your best gaming experience in mind and STILL try to make everything live service, pseudo-gambling and microtransactions? But they just ultra fail at it, because their monetization schemes are based on attempting to sell you the
>grandma's old wool sweater
legendary skin for concord and veilguard tier characters. Remember the Suicide Squad game? That they constantly tried to pull that kinda shit and are too brain damaged to pull it off anymore, is why you think this is somehow exclusive to the east, because those games make a shit ton of money by understanding that you give the people who pay exactly what they want. Retards will say it's the "gambling", but to get to the gambling part you have get people to install and play your game in the first place, which is what they do by advertising the characters.

That you probably believe this is somehow beneath "real gaming", should just be further proof that nu "real gaming" often can't even pass this low fucking bar. Nothing is stopping them from doing exactly this type of game with deeper systems, better gameplay and without the gacha. But no one in the west attempts it, they don't even try the shallow greed slop version, because they are too far gone. Remember Nikke and Stellar Blade, best selling PS exclusive on Steam? This could be the western gaming industry funding their "real games" by not being retarded, but alas, studio closures will continue until moral improves, I guess.

Otaku can keep their industries afloat.
Westoids start pandering to shitskins and foids and suddenly their empires collapse due to lack of funding to the point they can't turn a profit even with literal goverment gibs from MULTIPLE goverments.
Wonder what the difference is between the two audiences.
Thinking a few rando native japanese people pirating sometimes (and often just buying it later anyway) is comparable to the entire west now pirating by default and extremely rarely buying is disingenuous at best.

New otakus are normalfags and goycattle, they spend thousand of yen in merch only to be NTR'd of their 2nd because is not generic shonen shit.

I want the essential experience of "rolling for 5 stars" and "new events" that I do not have a reference point for.

>$300 for the whole map.
What a horrifically bad deal. It's a bare minimum of like 1000 hours to do it which means he's making $3 an hour.

$3 an hour is a lot in some places.

if you want to actually play something pick any of the big 3d ones from Mihoyo or Wuthering Waves, Endfield. There's also Arknights or Uma Musume if you don't want to play a 3d one.
If you want a bonsaige for logging in and doing minimal stuff there's Blue Archive and Trickcal. SD Gundam Eternal works too I guess since there isn't much to worry about in that game.

The Battle Cats (You can actually track your seeds for your pulls so you know what you're getting which is an almost unheard of thing in gachas.)
Genshin Impact
Wuthering Waves
Neverness to Everness
Zenless Zone Zero
Arknights: Endfield
Where Winds Meet (The gacha is for cosmetics, nothing else)

That's basically it in terms of ones that are worth your time. Genshin and WuWa are the best ones out of the lot if your goal is exploration and enjoyment. Everything else is going to be a chore simulator where you log in, do your dailies like raids and guilt content, and then log out.

That's a bare minimum estimate though. It's more like 1500 if not 2000+ hours which drops it to like $1-2 an hour. I started back in 2.7 and have 100%ed the game minus the Hangouts (Another like 20 hours if I forced myself) and picture related is my playtime according to one of the Miliastra Wonderland time trackers that aren't even 100% accurate as they don't count time paused.

Tokyo Clanpool targeted both Switch and PC and nearly got banned from both.
You can’t challenge a platform holder and make them sell your game, they hold all the cards in the relationship and your only recourse if banned is to go to another platform, which is already difficult when your audience is concentrated on that platform (as the weeb audience was on PlayStation when Sony started censoring), but is outright moot when every platform now has the same policies.

Have you not noticed that Bombergirl never got a console or PC port and remains arcade exclusive? There’s a reason for that.
