>Keeps remaking old games because they literally forgot how to make games and are hoping this will somehow make them know how to make games again.
>Even though we can see from any of the past 273,290 examples of them doing this, (e.g Metroid Prime), that this strategy doesn't even work.

Nintendo is braindead.

If they want to know how to make new games they should MAKE NEW GAMES

You're a dumb nigger
Remakes have always been an excuse to both shit out something cheap and fast and to help train new talent without much risk
No one ever makes a remake because they actually want to make the original game better or put effort into it, if they wanted to do that they wouldn't be making a fucking remake in the first place

But they are constantly.
Most of it might be derivative crap or lazy sequels, but they make more actual games than most other major studios

They are. They made BOTW and TOTK, which most people loved and (you) shit yourself over, crying that's it's not a "real Zelda" (i.e games from my childhood). Now that they are taking inspiration from the shitty linear 3d Zelda games like you've been bitching about you're STILL MAD? The fuck do you actually want?

>”they forgot how to make games!”
In the interview they explain that it’s because they mostly got new devs working on the game and wanna give them a hands-on approach to how the older games were made. It's not that they forgot, it’s that the new guys need experience. If you’re gonna fault them for anything, the blame lies on nintendo getting new hires instead of sticking with their old guard
>>
Aonuma not realizing that fast travel hampers discovery and immersion until trying to put fast travel into ootremake is crazy.
Training for the old timers who were one of the heads of the original game more like.

This is the ideal remake strategy, that's what Resident Evil has been doing, and it's earned them more goodwill than most remakes. But RE has a formula that's hard to replicate for Nintendo games, most remakes have to compete with the original for "Soul vs Soulless", but RE is the unique position in that it's a horror series with lots of soulful classics... but they're not really scary or not scary anymore at least. So even if RE makes a game that's not a direct copy of the OG's soul, it's has the benefit of adding back horror into a series that needed it.

Mario, Zelda, Pokemon - all this shit is feature complete. They're simple by intent, which means the formula is time-tested, but can't really be improved on much. Besides adding new mechanics and gimmicks, but that's much harder to do than:
>Make this zombie more realistically scary.
Which brings us back to the REmake formula, it pushes graphics which adds details to the horror, which usually results in successful sales that can fuel the next graphics step forward. For a movie, extra detail can make a scare less scary than your imagination because you can always close your eyes or flinch or look away - but in a videogame, getting scared means playing worse which means risking dying which means risking progress lost. More detail means your brain is getting tricked into thinking it's really fighting that monster as opposed to watching a CG render of that monster attack another guy.

Anyway, Nintendo can't add more whimsy soul into games that are already about as soulful as you can get. And it can't add graphics because it's hardware is limited. And added success doesn't mean better graphics or better hardware, because Nintendo isn't a Multi-Media conglomerate like Xbox and Sony. So every remake shows Nintendo lost a little bit more soul. And one day that dam will break, and Nintendo will make a classic game into a huge remake flop.
>>
it is embarrassing if the avg 20 to 30 something nintendo dev does not have the care or the knowledge to download project 64 and play oot of that was what they wanted to do. what do you mean "they only have experience developing the recent titles"? the older titles are free. assign them as homework for your employees if you want insights to be derived.

maybe this is why the dungeons suck dick in the open air zeldas. nothing even close to oot water temple, the high watermark of level design in the franchise.
>>
>>750855590
It's forever in an uphill battle as long as Sony and Xbox exist to push graphics and make Nintendo look less shiny relatively. Sony even showed that people want graphics and gimmicks added to their Mario. They even add Nostalgia soul to the Mario formula and turned Astrobot into a modern Platforming classic. Something thought basically impossible from anyone who wasn't Nintendo.

They could remake the OG and Zelda 2 as as a single game since they're so short, could even make in this OoT remake style or the Link's Awakening remake style
>>
>>750855629
I also don't get how remaking a game trains you to make more unique and better games in the future? If anything it just forces you to copy what already works and basically make clones with a few changes

The golden example is how Firaxis remade XCOM and then finally made a proper sequel to it.

>>750856103

Hacknuma keeps butting his head into spots he had nothing to do with originally. He was never one for exploration before the BotW overcorrection and doesn't understand game design on a fundamental level beyond dungeons. SS's overworld is the perfect example of this.
>>
>>750855558
They had to come up with their own vision and actualize it. Mario 64 has such tactile movement because Miyamoto was that invested in how it felt. OoT had a lot of that same care put into it, but that was one of the last projects he directly worked on. Not everyone else in charge of OoT had the same mindset or capability, and they made the worst choice in who to take over for him going forward.

>>750855629
I remember hearing a very long time ago that Mario Galaxy was required work for new blood at Nintendo. I wonder if there was any truth to it.
>>
I just want a Zelda game that's open enough to feel like an adventure but with limited enough resources that you have to plan and manage encounters carefully. You can't just rush to endgame.
>>
>>750855235
I don't treat NSMB slop as mainline Mario games.

why do nintendo fans like mario so much the games are so boring, made for toddlers, each boss in odyssey and bananza (a mario game) requries only 3 hits and are so easy you can sleep doing them

Mario 64 and OoT were made by the most talentent people in the industry with lots of time to test around what works. The remake is a mass training ground for the shit ton of lesser people you need to make a modern AAA game

As a reminder Breath of the Wild is nearly ten years old. So any developers at Nintendo were hired on in the past ten years have possibly developed
>Breath of the Wild
>Tears of the Kingdom
>Echoes of Wisdom
And that's it. Skyward Sword HD is just an HD remaster, it's not a new game. These new devs need to know how classic Zelda was developed.
>>
i wouldn't care if the remade the entire Toon Zelda trilogy

The snoy special. wonderful.
>>
>>750853640
I'm legitimately glad at least that they seem to have not done this. Like, the fact that most of the female NPCs have their original figure is incredible. You can't help but breath a sigh of relief seeing Malon keep her good ol' farmgirl hips and bust.
>>
>>750859041
From what we've seen of the remake, they didn't take much away from it. The only real changes are an unnecessary jump button and a bunch of combat simplifications to what's already an easy game. Miyamoto and the other system/script directors needed to be much more involved.
>>
>>750847880
>by learning the game structure and development style behind the original
At least he knows what he needs to learn. That's progress.
>>
>>750854918
>the shitty linear 3d Zelda games
OoT is great specifically because of how exceptionally non-linear it is without being structure-less.
