Should Cyberpunk 2 go full life/world sim, or stick to being a casual looter shooter?

Stuff like
>(OPTIONAL) needs for food, drink, sleep & cyber management
>multiple basic "life another life mod" style alternative starts within each lifepath
>lots of flats to rent (or break into), from complete dumps to nice pads
>have to actually pay monthly rent
>significantly more random events that can happen anywhere (most "random" events in 2077 are actually pre-placed)
>dynamic player-to-faction relations & player-to-NPC relations
>much more interactive/reactive NPC so they're not just empty shells
>being able to call up a friend to meet or have them follow you, maybe up to 3 for a gang of 4
>gangs/thugs committing crime dynamically i.e robbing shops or stealing cars, instead of just scripted events
>gangs patrolling "their" streets instead of standing still in dev assigned spots 24/7
>active gang warfare with places they can dynamically fight over for control
>>

>Should Cyberpunk 2 go full life/world sim
that thinking is what got people overhyped and disappointed in the first place
>or stick to being a casual looter shooter?
all I want in 2 is for the looter stuff to be stripped out and for there to be significantly more gear with a wider array of stats
>>
>>750875989
They will just make another loot shooter and let modders add all those things for them.
>>
>>750877232
>switched to UE5
Ain't happening, I'm afraid.
>>
They should make an actual RPG like they promised before they turned in a shitty Borderlands game with no actual meaningful choices/lifepaths
>>
>>750877437
>It should be an RPG instead of an RPG

They should lean heavier into desu-ex style design and expand the combat sandbox and all the systemic elements, one thing that really impressed me with Cyberpunk that I haven't seen outside of Rockstar games is how enemies can trip over eachothers bodies.

>>750877098
Yeah I want the gun styles to feel more distinct and exotic and less overtly categorized and removevtgevreliance on perks. That really hurt smart guns
>>
>>750877098
real shame how few guns where in the game when there is literal books worth of stuff to draw from

i would personally want more choices and stuff related to character building, i want my not-v to feel unique playthrough to playthrough and have actual quest choices matter a bit more, lemme do different body types and not just be locked to a standard one please, i want to be able to make a roidgorilla and a trap and a tomboy and john cyberpunk all in the same game kthx, the lifepath showing up more than once every 5 quests would be nice too, there should be significant differences between a nomad/street kid/corpo v but ingame it only changes part of the intro then pops up a couple times in dialogue which was a bit dissapointing
more wild cybernetic options would be very appreciated too, and not just combat related ones
>>
>>750877696
with the success of the anime one can hope companions are more involved in future games
>>
>>750877635
kek I'm not sure if I've ever had that happen
>>
>>750875989
I wouldn't be surprised if their Cyberpunk 2 game borrows a lot from GTA 6, with the life-sim aspect in a cyberpunk setting.
>>
>>750875989
They should add fun gameplay and good writing
>>
>>750875989
It should be 3D Hotline Miami. Make the entire thing revolve around gigs and killing people for money. Add schizo lolrandumb loredrops for the youtube folk ala Morrowind or Elden Ring and nobody will notice that there's no story.
>>
I'd like a class System that really makes each path feel distinct and encourages heavy replayability and makes each of them feel cool. 2077 really struggled with some attributes having awful dialogue compared to others and the way leveling works sort of makes all builds blend tigether into the same late game murder machine. Body becomes a Certified Door Kicker who smashes his way into buildings, Reflex gets a parkour system, Cool gets a way more extensive stealth/cover system, Int Hackers get way more environmental interactions.

I'd drop Tech and divorce weapons abilities from attributes, but give them a customization/upgrade system similar to Ripperdocs. Let people use the guns they want based on the situation. Why can't a Solo obliterate someone with a Sniper Rifle or Reflex make effective use of Smartguns? Make the dual wielding ability a Cyberware
>>
>>750875989
It should stick to being a story heavy action RPG.
Lifesim fags don't know what they want. Every mod they make is unintuitive and grindy. Catering to them is asking for trouble.
>>
>>750881780
>he thinks the marketing is real
GTA will be the same crime simulator + fuck around shooting civilians it's always been but now you can choose to eat and drink.
>>
Needs more gameplay mechanics and story elements centered around your character build, lifesim is fine if it’s not intrusive to the actual gameplay philosophy. I would take a smaller open world if it meant what we got was tighter gameplay and story driven consequences
>>
>>750882327
I agree. As long as the set pieces feel alive I really don't care if my V can order dinner or have a favorite flavor of soda. I care more about the protagonists ripperdoc or weapon seller being interesting.
>>
hmm, no. I thought I would like a cyberpunk sim but then I played Navalis Nights. Now I'm completely against the idea.
>>
>>750882327
the way cdpr does rpgs is so goddamn janky in 77. the freeroam isn't too bad but by god some of the missions are jank supreme because they want to railroad you into doing the setpieces but they aren't smart enough or do enough testing to account for all the stuff varied builds in a real rpg would be able to do

netrunners especially fuck with their mission design because they don't account for stuff like wallhacks and just immediately trigger fail conditions for shit that would be just business as usual if you were netrunning in the overworld
>>
They should just make the game they originally promised with CP2077. But let's be honest, they're not capable of that. So to avoid another fiasco, they should aim low and just make a competent looter shooter and don't advertise it as anything but. Bonus points if they can somehow do better than that but deliberately under promise.
>>
Cyberware should be less stat based and instead be focused around providing more overt gameplay styles. Maybe drop perks entirely and make cyberware the source of your "perks" and the deciding factor of what your gameplay style is going to be. I partially want the RPG mechanics to drop and for the game to focus more on action and movement. I would still want tough enemies to feel tough but would more so be about them having actual armor you need a particular weapon to pierce instead of them having buffed health pools.
>>
>>750884648
You need to learn how to sprinkle in some good news brother. We have some good stuff on the horizon. Even if Orion ends up being terrible we'll still have stuff like EXEKiller, Defect and No Law, among many many others.
>>
>>750884648
Cyberpunk didn't become good until those people left though. Also their NA HQ is in Boston
>>
Pivot weapon capabilities and perks entirely over to the Skill system and have them develop organically as you play and add trainers.
>>
I hope netrunner builds are able to interact with the world more in non-direct combat ways for fun. It's lame that you can't do stuff to normal NPCs (think I read you could at launch but they removed it?), and let us mess with the environmental electronics more in ways to cause situations.

And there should be random cyberpsychos that can spawn anywhere, not just the mission ones.
>>
>>750888457
I would be happy to see combat quickhacks dropped entirely as long as Covert and Control quickhacks were massively expanded. Also make hacks dependant on enemies actually having Cyberwear to hack or a more advanced gun.
>>
>>750890636
yeah, synapse burnout and short circuit are op but boring as shit. at the same time, spamming 8x cyberware malfunction doesn't do shit on the mech pilot elites??? control quickhacks should be way more op but it's the other way around
>>
>>750875989
The thing I'm most curious about is whether or not they're going to reboot the world, or decide to make the second game fit within the "lore" of the first. If so, that's severely limiting and will mean a lot of gameplay choices have to be cloned like weapon types, cyberware, etc. because there'd be no reason for only night city to have specific types. Having to be constrained by what the first game set up is ultimately what will limit the second game moreso than any other choices they make. If however they decide to just reimagine the whole world from scratch to be more like the tabletop that would be interesting. Yet I can't see it happening when it makes more sense to reuse the engine and a lot of the shit tons of assets they already made
>>
>>750890636
>>750892381

Yeah I'd like stuff that isn't just press-to-damage. Let us trigger a security system that makes the NCPD arrive to the scene, causing fights between them and gangs. Let us hack speakers/big screens to give a warning that makes pedestrians freak out. etc.

Let us interact with the world in ways that can trigger further dynamic reactions.
>>
>>750892703
Pondsmith has never been afraid of "Actually we're changing how "Thing" works but we're going to pretend that's how it always was". He was perfectly fine with Sandevistand and Berzerk being relatively ground tech ramping up to some pretty insane stuff that violates physics.

I would love to see smart guns behave a lot more like conventional firearms and maybe get a buff to damage while being more limited in their course correction anility instead of making 90' turns. If that happened I don't need a lore explanation for why all the smart guns changed. That's Bethestard crap.
>>
I hope they build it for third person instead of first person so you can see your character and make more than your arms look borged.
>>
>>750893921
Meh. I've never seen a game do both 1st and 3rd person and not had one or the other be shit. Pick a lane and the lane I would pick is 1st
>>
>>750875989
>woke boston studio

>>
wouldn't even call it a looter shooter

>>750895130
...using all the eddies you looted!
>>
>>750875989

>>
>>750895130
Its a Shame they're tiered and pseudo scale to your level. I'd like it if an Ajax felt like a signifigant improvement over a Copperhead and a Masamune felt like a big step over that, instead of thevdifference essentially being your preference for fire rate.

Should also add a semi/full auto toggle
>>
>>750875989
>needs for food, drink, sleep
Autismos deserve the rope.
>>
>>750875989
I don't think anyone ever wanted to have to eat drink or sleep. What they did want and expect was more interactivity in the world and stuff to do outside of missions and gigs. Just selectively borrow the most worthwhile and cost-effective features people assumed 2077 would share with GTA. Spending time with friends is definitely one of them. Other than that, just make sure there are plenty of side quests and fun stuff to do besides advancing the plot.
>>
>>750895468
Drop all the tier system and stats. Just make good cyberwear and good weapons noticeably good.
>>
>>750875989
After a lot of Cyberpunk 2077 I hope they go life sim route. There's so many things in the game that I wish had more attention to detail, and less scripted sequencing. I wanted that foursome with Blue Moon and her pop music group.
>>
>>750896535
>"I want more lifesim elements!" post
>Its just a porn addict
Every time
>>
>>750896671
not him but I have no interest in gooner shit. I just like it when games use systems to simulate things and increase world interaction instead of just using scripted events because it makes things for more unpredictable, makes the world feel more organic i.e alive, increases immersion and increases replay value.
>>
>>750875989
Casual looter shooter.
Both ideas are fun but they're different, you shouldn't mix them around trying to make one into the other.

That said, nothing you mentioned I'd call a SIM and out of the bounds for a looter shooter. Maybe the drinking and sleeping is a step too far for that but otherwise these are just things they need to include to keep the world feeling alive instead of static.
>>
>>750875989
a faction based sandbox would be cool but it'll probably be another looter shooter. though they could take the FNV route of having main story divergent points that are faction based and give us a few factions to pick from, but we're likely ending up as a solo again.
>>
>>750875989
>needs for food, drink, sleep & cyber management
Yes just for the sake of making the shop that aren't gunstore usefull.
Eat and drink so you have a reason to go to food stand/restaurant.
A system were you have injury that need specific item like in KCD, attack can damage you cyberware that need a reaperdoc.
What need to go is the level for all item and the grade. Just give specific stats for each weapon/armor.
>>
That shit's all busywork. With Cyberpunk 2 going to Chicago I want them to have seasons. Let me see some cold weather cyberpunk fits.
>>
>>750875989
>(OPTIONAL) needs for food, drink, sleep
Every fps that does this always fucks it up because they make food, drink, and sleeping trivially easy to do.
>Get hungry
>Steal 500 hotdogs
>have to eat one every 15 minutes or my characters stamina decreases by 0.5%
Plus when nobody else in the game world has these needs it loses all meaning and feels more like punishment than 'sim'

>>
>>750899242
I think it would be better if they divide the game in chapter. You finish a main quest, some thing change and you see consequence of what you decided in other quest next chapter.
It's probably more manageable like that.
>>
>>750877098
Agreed, hated the loot. Most fun I had in combat was doing a mix of net runner stuff with melee.
>>
>>750875989
go full life world sim i want it to be like GTA VI but in future and with more RPG elements
>>
>>750899065
They already stepped away from looting shooting and got a generally positive response for it. The whole system feels like a holdover from the Witcher series. It's what they know but it's never been a popular system.

I would drop the majority of looting altogether outside of the occasional high quality weapon and ammo. Character progression should really come from dumping fat stacks of Eddie's from your gigs on new Gear and Chrome so you're up to par for the big missions, which should be your major gates to new content
>>
>>750899504
>Give me someone like lucy instead
There is a mod for that (Lucy Romanced).

You can enable her romance with a console command.

I was just using it as an example, they need to deploy more systems of mechanics, ala Tears of the Kingdom. That way even stuff as mundane as what I proposed is possible.

>>
>>750900114

>>750875989

>>
>>750881968
Don’t forget the kick ass soundtrack
>>
>>750900708
gameplay designed around squad roles would be neat, but I don't think CDPR are good enough with NPC AI to do it.

It would need to be something like Cyberpunk Dragon's Dogma, so you can form a 4-person team with you and 3 very AI driven NPCs. The NPCs would need to be competent, but still able to mess up and die for it to feel natural. None of this crap where the NPCs can walk around right in front of the enemy during stealth sections and it's like the enemies can't even see them.
>>
>>750901281
This, also vehicle customization, I want to start out with some shitbox and turn it into a monster.
>>
>>750902149
the driving itself could be much improved. I really like how wreckfest does the handling physics, but that might be too much for a mass appeal game like cyberpunk
>>
do you think they'll be able to top Don't Fear The Reaper
>>
the problem with making an RPG story heavy is that it tends to result in way more story than gameplay. sure you might get a few story choices but overall its going to feel more like a movie than a game a lot of the time. people say for it to feel like an RPG it needs more "choices", but really what it needs is more stuff in gameplay like stats and the stats affecting more things.
>>
>>750875989
I would prefer gangs having territories under their control and completing missions or killing them in the streets reduces gang activity in the area so more NPC's walk around as the streets get safer but then you get more hit contracts put out on you for more enemy ambushes.
>>
>more variety of body (tall, small, fat... I had more choice in saint row 2)
>More fucked up cyber augment (where are the furries ? The guys who want to have a gun instead of a head and like so ?)
>More romance option for heterosexual males
>>
>>750905180
don't forget the child brothels run by maelstrom
>>
>>750905180
Honestly I would move away from the idea of a blank slate and make the merc more of their own character. If I can customize my abilities, arsensl and outfits I really don't care about being given a bunch of potential roles, particularly when the difference is a bunch of generic dialogue.
>>
>>750904783
I think gangs should have "HQ" territories that are always theirs, but then the middle areas of the cities been those have places that can be captured & lost based on gangs fighting and the players actions. Then their members would spawn in these parts when they control it.

One of the stalker games did something like this but it was buggy
>>
>>750875989
Make the Mantis Blades and Monowire good weapons again. 2.0 seriously ruined them.
>>
>>750905361
Maelstrom, Tiger Claws, and Scavs are so shitty I almost feel bad for gunning down Valentinos. It'd massively boost Streetkids appeal if it gave you a bunch of ins to pursue diplomatic resolutions to their quests, Particularly for the Tino's but gangs in general.
>>
>>750905443
I don't think Mantis Blades are bad they just don't match up to Katanas because their swing speed is capped at a much slower rate for some dumb reason. Even that's only really noticeable because Katanas have a bunch of options to turn off their combo limit.

That's moreso a big deal for a Sandevistan build though. Berzerk Mantis underrated.

It would be nice to side with gangs and you can help decide which gang takes control of the city which comes with perks/bonuses and enemy factions trying to kill you whenever you wander close to the small parts they still control

I wouldn't want disposable mooks. I'd want a crew with personality.

>>750905746
But the Mantis Blades used to be better before when Cyberarm mods were still in the game, since to Rotor mods made them super fast. Now they’re outclassed by the Katana’s and there’s no real reason to use them anymore.

Anything that gives it more depth than just being far cry in da city.

And ffs please do not add a GTAV styled map where we have 50% of it taken by a boring ass countryside. Just make it 100% urban sprawl with more verticality.

Yeah the Badlands and even the suburbia area was really dumb spot to develop instead of the verticality we get in City Center or Downtown

No, they will lie to the public again, and the public will be happy fell for it and eat shit up.
>>
>>750907723

Gorilla blades mantis katanas!
>>
>>750908152
Katanas are one of, if not the strongest melee weapon in the game by a wide margin. I'm not saying that isn't the case. But Mantis Blades aren't worthless just because they aren't legitimately broken like a Tier 5++ Katana with Cyclone
>>
>>750908152
Also using an arm slot over a weapon slot means I get to bring another gun and more gun is more fun.
>>
people simply want a lifesim sandbox with a bunch of interoperable mechanics for unscripted shit to happen in addition to instances/dungeons.
>>
>>750908249
It's a shame Body's arsenal of guns is relatively so limited because going berserk with Gorilla arms is stupidly fun. I really wish ARs and Pistols could Obliterate.
>>
>>750877437
/thread
>>
>>750908765
Exactly. They're good at the story, characters, visuals, gunplay, but the open world part of the gameplay is extremely limited.

To this day if a gang aggro's just because you walked too close on the streets and start shooting at you, nearby NCPD will starting shooting the player as well even if they've done nothing aggressive. They have zero logic to consider why a fight is happening, they're just flagged to shoot the player if there's combat. That kinda tells you everything you need to know about CDPR when it comes to logical systems/simulation, they're simply bad at it.
>>
>>750908497
>>750908617
They’re not worthless, but they’re worth considering compared to the other options. Gorilla Arms are the better alternative because of how much you can do with them, and you can bypass Body checks with them. Monowire got shafted the hardest though.
>>
>>750908860
It's very weird because the weapon perks are generally already good for rewarding a playstyle that those weapons already naturally excel at and take the best advantage of so what would be the drawback of just letting the other guns benefit
>>
>>750909480
Monowire is okay for what it does. You need to support it with the right perks and tools but once you do it's got great sustain and control against groups.

Neither. It should be an RPG. With full RPG mechanics. As they originally promised 1 would be.

Gorilla Arms are the best option imo
-Frees up a weapon slot for an additional firearm or blade melee weapon
-Levels solo progression when used
-Assists body checks
-Benefits from multiple skill progression bonuses
-Can be used in boxing side quest
-Don't have to invest skill points to make it better
>>
>>750905180
There's no reason for V to be a manlet, fat, a skeleton, etc. The game is about you being a merc doing cool merc shit, not some random background character that's there to be set dressing. Saints Row type stuff can get away with it because even in 2 it's halfway to being a meme game.

It’d be cool if there were multiple manufacturers for different pieces of Cyberware that had different bonuses that you could mix and match for different builds and set bonuses.
>>
>>750908497
One of Cyberpunks big issues is that it's full of late game options that are stupidly strong but not necessarily fun because they get OP.

A Militech Paraline is my favorite Deck because it buffs monowire and Smartguns but in regards to raw effectiveness nothing beats a Rippler just spamming the Memory Wipe combo.

You COULD be utilizing your Reflex moves and Mantis Blades to leap at isolated enemies and avoid direct confrontation, but why? Just turn on your Apogee with Byakko and instakill everything.

Vivisector is strong too but at least that's rewarding the core premise if a shotgun.

monowire is mostly a ram feeder desu, it does no damage by itself but it does give a decent amount of ram and quickhacks completely obliterate anything in the game. the only problem is you don't need monowire to get infinite ram so then the question is why don't you just go pure quickhacks and delete everything with overclocked synapse burnout

I wish the Shingen wasn't so crap without Int perks because I really wanted to go full Arasaka with Reflex build using Mantis Claws, a Masamune, and Raiju, but the Shingen can't keep up with these other guns. I really wish they'd change the Smart guns to still be good as conventional weapons if they don't have a lock on, it's just that once they do they start shredding.
>>
>>750911740
Quickhacking everything to death might be the single most goddamn boring way to do combat, even Sandy Katana is more fun than point and clicking everything while time pauses. I'd just not touch the Overclock button at all unless it was really dire and then feeding RAM becomes useful again.
>>
>>750911740
Yeah but that's a fundamental issue with Int in the late game in general. Why use control hacks when Combat hacks instakill everything. Why use the niches of the other decks when Rippler gives you 20 extra ram to instakill everything. Why boost your Smartguns when hacks instalill everything.

Combat Quickhacks were a mistake.
>>
>>750911960
if you want to non-lethal everything the Arasaka is pretty good as well, it's discounts on the memory wipe, reboot optics, sonic shock combo make it more efficient than the rippler, especially because the rippler breaks stealth if you accidentally overclock near an enemy

and if you want to get cheeky you can intentionally trigger trace progress to get 4 RAM cost system collapses and with Arasaka's extended trace progress bar you can kinda race around a building doing nothing but uploading cheap system collapse on everything

Smart guns should lock on from succesfully shooting a guy and you should be able to toggle if you want them to lock on at all. Who idea was it to have a group of enemies whose gimmick is making an entire category of guns useless? I don't like the bullet splitting nonsense either. That can be a gimmick for some of them but it ruins the appeal of the category as a whole if they all feel like I'm shooting self guiding bb pellets

>why can't this game simulate a 1:1 living world? It's not an RPG!!!
God you fucking NEETs have no idea how games work. You idiots don't do this shit to The Witcher, Final Fantasy, Mass Effect, whatever the fuck. It's only this game do you guys demand the impossible and outright lie about alleged "promises" like the people who lied and said there was supposed to be a fully unique Rockerboy storyline that completely ignores the main plot of the game.

Is it mental illness? Schizophrenia? It seems very similar to schizophrenia and its paranoid delusions.

I wish there were more 6th Street skins. It’s a shame they left out Maelstrom and Animals skins too.

it's not like there's no other ways to just trivialize the game
frankly just marking every enemy through cameras and the sniping them through the walls with a Nekomata is even stronger than pure hacking
>>
>>750912281
As if Stealth wasn't easy enough
>>
They couldn't even finish their first game and you already want more slop? Fuckin cattle
>>
>>750912627
I'm saying all the methods of triviliazing what little difficulty the game has is fundamentally bad and not actually very fun outside of initial amusement of how broken you are.
>>
>>750912281
i don't think rippler breaks stealth does it? it should only start a trace which doesn't really matter since system collapse or the collapse combo both reduce trace progress anyway so they will never complete it as long as you're killing stuff
>>
I just want a walking sim or visual novel or a cyberpunk version of Life is Strange.
>>
>>750912627
i mean if you can see the enemy through a camera you might as well just instakill them with system collapse or the collapse combo right there and then and save the 'trouble' of having to shoot them at all. but like others have said, killing enemies through quickhacks is just really boring

King’s revolver is better for that.
>>
>>750912281
Rippler can do that as well. The Arasaka giving you improved Trace time doesn't really matter when every use of System Collapse gives you a big chunk of time back anyway.

Ultimate Quickhacks are kind of shit as well. They're just variations of "kill this guy" but people hype them up a lot.
>>
>>750912832
high level rippler automatically uploads a pair of quickhacks to everything nearby if you overclock which starts trace progress
>>
>>750913501
like i said it shouldn't matter since both system collapse and memory wipe reduce trace progress, the trace will start but it will never finish
>>
Rippler is just the best cyberdeck hands down, if you're going to be using quickhacks then there's no point in using any other cyberdeck
>+15% weapon damage
>+40% combat quickhack damage
>Bonus RAM passive
>Overclock hits nearby enemies with 2 auto quickhacks that effectively disables enemy ranged combat
If you're using anything besides a Rippler as a netrunner, even for casual net running, you're doing it wrong.
>>
>>750912353
Broke Bum
>>
>>750913770
It's boosts are just way too massive for being the "generalist" Cyberdeck. The Decks that "Specialize" in something should really outpace it within their niche at the very least. I love the idea of the Arasaka Shadow but it's actual benefits are sort of shit. I like using the Militech Paraline but it's bonuses are objectively worse despite being more strict about what they apply to.

I would love to love the Canto or the Netwatch but they have no overclock ability and their trademarks aren't even that useful.

somebody explain to me why RedEngine was used for Cyberpunk 2077 instead of creating a bespoke engine from scratch.

It seemed like RedEngine was the worst of both worlds, it wasn't cheaper and it's a poorly optimized engine.
>>
>>750914335
It was what they knew in regards to design a large open world but it clearly faced major challenges in regards to becoming a 1st person shooter with lots of movement.
>>
>>750875989
dont care about genre, 2077 plays like ass
the controls I mean, theyre janky as fuck
they should probably think about fixing that for the second game first
>>
>>750914591
How so? Movement is one of the only things the game has going for it.
>>
>>750914335
Holy shit you're retarded. Never post again.
>just throw out your own engine and make a completely new one from scratch even though the other engine works just fine bro
>>
>>750913770
Is that +12 to max ram passive on top of the base 20 the Rippler has? Or is it just base 8 +12?
>>
>>750914335
hindsight is 20/20 you jackelope.
>>
>>750914817
No the Epic+Legendary effects is calculated into the RAM capacity stat, so it's just 20, which is still more than double any other Deck, except for the NetDriver.
>>
>>750914643
I found the movement to be kinda unresponsive and spastic at times, but maybe it was my PC not being able to handle it (I think the game is not properly optimized anyways)
>>
>>750914817
On top
Rippler is the best Cyberdeck if you're running Smart Weapons because it offers the max accuracy bonus with the Precision Subroutines perk
>>
>>750914335
>instead of creating a bespoke engine from scratch.
they fucking did that. the've been rewriting redengine everytime since witcher 2. the biggest problem with cyberpunk was that they didn't know what features they'd need since the game design kept changing every 2 years. and people were quitting the project because of that so they needed new people to learn the tech from scratch.
>>
>>750914335
i heard that RedEngine has trouble regarding verticality like tall towers.
but i dunno, someone correct me if i'm wrong.
>>
is there a point to using oracle eyes over cockatrice eyes if you are a netrunner

it automatically highlights stuff but i could just use ping which also buffs my smart weapons so what's the point
>>
>>750915358
From a purely effectiveness standpoint the iconic Biocapacitor already guarantees crits for your hacks, so you don't really need Cockatrice' bonus unless you're forgoing combat hacks for guns.
>>
>>750915358
If you got the cyberware capacity then use Cockatrice, if you want a ping before using ping then use Oracle
>>
>>750915594
i forgot to mention i'm already bored of spamming synapse collapse so i unequipped the cybersomatic optimizer (also i don't think cockatrice can make quickhacks crit?)
>>
>>750915715
No, I'm just saying you would naturally value damage on your hacks than really damage on your guns if you were spamming combat quickhacks, but if you're relying on guns than yeah the cockatrice is the clear winner among the Eye Cyberwear.

do you guys wish Cyberpunk 2 was simply an expansion of Night City with larger city or territory?

Basically how GTA 4/5/6 expanded from a small city (GTA 3) to a massive metropolitan area.
>>
>>750915971
Larger City that is equally if not more corrupt than NC or multiple smaller cities you can travel between
Also less Badlands like areas that take up a large portion of the map
>>
>>750915971
i don't know what you mean by that question

if you mean we literally just get cyberpunk 2077 again with the gameplay and lack of rpg features, but with a bigger nc, fuck no

if you just mean map-wise vs getting the same nc + chicago, while still getting gameplay overhauls, then small no. i think nc is extremely ugly, someone said it looks plastic and i have to agree. i hope chicago looks meaningfully different
>>
>>750915971
I would like to see Night City again, even a map of similar size, just with certain areas and buiildings given a makeover based on how much time has passed. The change I would most like to see is adding verticality and layers of the city and for that to reflect the living conditions. Borrow some concepts of chinese mega cities and their "Horizontal Skyscrapers". You've got corpos literally living in the clouds with their penthouses and offices interconnected by skybridges, sky gardens and high quality transit systems, so they don't actually have to go down by the road where the plebians might bother them, and then you have the old subterranean areas where a lot of the sketchiest areas would be hidden but where you can scrape by on the cheap.
>>
File: night city.jpg (3.32 MB, 3157x3010)
3.32 MB JPG
>>750915971
is it me or is Night City kind of small for all the attention that it gets?
i'd always imagined it to be some kind of megacity like LA or NYC.
>>
>>750916471
It's going to be bigger and denser in lore than in a videogame obviously. I really think they goofed adding all the industrial and suburban areas, particularly the badlands instead of keeping up in Watson/City Center and really making places feel layered.
>>
>>750915971
they're already doing 2 cities in the next game(NC and Chicago), and the new quest they've added also explains what areas of the NC will get a rebuild. NC was supposed to be bigger anyway with the entire rich mansions are getting cut outright.
>>
>>750916672
I can't really imagine the point of creating a city far away we need to take a train or something to go visit it. I would imagine it's something more like the Pacifica or Watson area started developing rapidly so now there is a 2nd city directly bordering Night City proper and there is some tension of who has municipal authority where until they end up merging. Like Budapest.
>>
>>750875989
No but you should kill yourself.

I hope it’s an open world rpg where you can choose what type of protagonist you’re gonna be and not an on-the-rails movie game about a mercenary with a baked in plot and arc
>>
>>750904193
Driving was dogshit in the game, too slippery and even with mods it was still awkward. Always ended up just riding Jackie’s bike since it’s the only sufficiently fast vehicle that doesn’t handle like utter ass.
>I really like how wreckfest does the handling physics, but that might be too much for a mass appeal game like cyberpunk
Never played it, but from the looks of it it is better than what we got. Also vehicle combat should be improved. Mounted guns don’t really do much and vehicle hacks are much more effective and faster.
>>
>>750875989
It should be a less plot-intensive game about making it as a bounty hunter. You just do more and more difficult head hunts (most fun part of 2077). Ditch the dogshit skill trees and limit the "RPG" elements to implants and maybe "the more you do thing the better you are at the thing" kind of progression that's not super impactful. Guns should also be de-RPGfied and their damage should be tied to ammo you are shooting.
That or a cop game.
>>
>>750911549
no there needs to be ways to actually play as a cop, techie, media etc that have different ways to progress cops and effect your standing with factions
>>
>>750910430
And why can't I play a dwarf whose a hacker ?
>>
>>750908249
Why can't I get a machine gun arm like barret or a fake arm hiding a cannon like cobra
>>
>>750921243
Yes, even mine.
Design by committee is always the worst idea.
A game's design should be done by a close group of 6-8 people, max, who are professionals in their respective area of work.
Not by the democracy of the commons.
>>
>>750922716
Huh? Driving *was* fine until some recent post version 2 update. Then I noticed low speed hard turns especially on bikes get super sideways. It never used to do that.

It's the speed that was stupid.
I measured it myself, I mean its already well knownthe game is using kilometers even when you set it to MPH.
But the maximum speed of an unmodded game is somewhere in the 95kph range no matter how fast the car is or says it is. It could say 185MPH (300kph) you're still going 95kph.
>>
>>750925824
Hmm. Nah I just timed it again.
1KM took 24.75 seconds = 14.545kph = 90mph
But that was a bike indicated 170MPH speed.
I swear the game used to be slower than that though.
>>
>>750875989
>cyberpunk looter shooter
Some of the best weapons you find from exploring the world, like New Vegas, you would know this if you played it. You did play it, op, right?
>>
>>750926371
Personally I prefer modded non-iconics
>>
>>750925059
Nah. Waste of time.
