Avatar Aang looks way better and feels more complete but is still arguably bottom tier, maybe Roku is mid tier
But no one knows the matchup so you get a lot of free wins if you can do his weird combo routes
Norra is cool and very slightly less cancer to fight than before now that teleport DP whiffs on crouch but only very slightly, and she's way stronger in exchange, overall a good direction but she's still really fucking annoying
Normal Aang is a real character now, crazy how safe they played it with him in a game that has Azula in it. Still potential man that has to work way harder than it seems like he should just from looking at his tools in a vacuum but is way less awkward to play and a bit less reliant on janky ass fangdrill setups and ball hop loops that I never liked much anyway.
Focused Azula buffs are insane, if anyone ever gets consistent at the just frame that character is going to be a problem but at least there's less Firelord around now.

Has anyone here seen the street fighter 2 documentary Here Comes a New Challenger it came out maybe 3 years ago and is available on Tubi. It's pretty interesting it has interviews with former capcom staff and even interview the director of the original movie.

His pillar oki is only looping on strikes, and people overthink the mix

Command Throw makes it fully unblockable, but that can only ever deal gray life (it deals real damage if you have gray life, but you can't build that up in combos)
The command throw oki isn't crazy good, he's only +13 (goes down to +8 if it cashes out on gray life). I don't think he can truly mix you from that, but he can meaty.

On regular throw, he is +23, so he doesn't have enough time to set up another pillar either.
I think if you recognize the setup (delayed pillar causes a screenshake), you can always delay tech because the pillar guarentees you'll be in blockstun?

On strikes, he will combo into the pillar swing, which is where he can set up another pillar for oki
But I think the only way he can get an overhead to combo from that scenario is if he sets up a delayed pillar, which has a visible tell with the screenshake.
Obviously you can't autopilot parry, but you can be on the lookout for it.

Also I think his neutral/corner carry makes this way less scary than like getting clipped by a random crmk from Ken/Mai and being carried across the entire fucking stage. He has to work more to get the corner.

I've been giving project justice a whirl lately and really enjoy how it plays. The board game is a nice change of pace

the execution even in a vacuum clears anything currently out. it's really not that hard in the grand scheme of things but the genre is so dumbed right now it ends up being a shock with how specific the timing is to land certain combos. the game is also fast as shit and yeah there is a lot of character specific things you will end up learning, although most of that isn't completely critical knowledge.

What fighting game do you guys recommend solely for the combo trials? I already got UMVC3, USFIV and GG xrd rev2.

All I saw when the notes dropped was that Zaheer was gutted. Then I looked at the notes and hit up Ranked and he's basically the same. He can get hit by anti-airs that visibly should've worked pre-patch and he now has to play solo neutral for another second longer for a shitty P'Li call. He still has super layered offense and that fuckass slide. That said, Nightmare Korra is so much fun now that she has Criticals and that giant low 6C. The Dark Spirit changes are a lot of fun but Vaatu has to be the best assist still especially with the cancels being opened up.

You need to abstract it a little to make it feel like more than just fighting CPUs that are either too shitty or too perfect to feel like human opponents; Arcade Mode has its place but that's a legacy thing and more for adding lore to individual characters. Rival Schools and SF6 are probably the ideal where you make a character and interact with the playable cast and learn from them (SC3's strategy mode is up there too) but stuff like Tekken Force is a great smaller-scale example. A SRPG/TRPG mode where you do combos on offense like Project X Zone could be great if someone wanted to do it.

Could've told you that by seeing TvC. Vorpal is just Baroque refined to its logical conclusion and I love it. It's not my favorite but that mechanic and other Baroque-esque cancel systems are so good. Also +R, TvC, USF4 Bushido Blade, nidhogg, Divekick and Bloody Roar holy based taste.

i am a single player enjoyer even though i also like pvp. my preferred single player style is stuff that fleshes out the roster and builds a connection to you, the player as you learn how to play them. arcade ladders with personalized stories and endings is my ideal. i do not like how NRS does single player content, big story modes often miss the point of a fighting game to me and that is to feature the whole roster and pick your favoriite.
when you play through like tekken 8s story you have to just play as jin basically the whole time and its like what if i don't like jin and main xiaoyu or something you know.

Can't say much about it but he recomp and the online rollback are seperate. You could say the online function is a mod for the native pc port.
