Him letting go of her and standing up in realization that he's better than his base instincts is entirely why Kiryu continued to help him.By condemning him full stop you show you're not mature enough to even deal with serious topics such as this. He never went through with anything, didn't hurt Haruka in any way, apologized, and showed that he wasn't some sort of monster despite decades in the slammer starved of contact or affection.
