Have always been a PC gamer so missed out on Dead Rising. Recently picked up DR1-4 (no remaster) and 20 hours in to 1 now.

Reply with tips, tricks, discussions about DR.

Also which do you consider the best DR and why?

how hard is it not to make it in time?
>>
why has /v/ been so obsessed with Dead Rising lately

It's a good game. With a ton of replayability. And it rewards you for beating it's challenges. While also not handholding you and making you feel like a retard.

Every once in a while vee remembers it exists

1-2-3 are good. 4 sucks.
1 is the best.

only the first one was exclusive, and imo the only one worth playing so I kinda see your point

You wasted your money on 3-4.
They are irredeemable garbage.

DR1 is unironically the peak.
2 ain't bad, but it's literal rehash in many ways.
Both games are meant to be replayed multiple times.

Dead Rising 1, 2 and Case West are the only games worth playing, and CW is basically a DLC skinswap of 2, but well worth it for fans of Frank.
3 is alright but even at 13 years of age I still thought it was incredibly dull compared to 1 and 2 and have never felt the desire to replay it because it was extremely mediocre. Whereas I have replayed the first two and CW multiple times throughout my life. I sacrificied 2 years' worth of Christmas and birthday presents just so I could get an Xbox One upon release to play DR3, and it was not worth it one bit.

I assume Halloween season made people search for zombie games, and it must have been on discount

You can interact with landmarks like riding a lap around the roller coaster, running on treadmills, turning kitchen plates into shooting galleries, or spinning the servobot's head around for experience. The game tracks whether or not every single stove in the mall has been turned on, and bringing a frying pan to an active burner lets you cook food for experience and stronger healing items. No healing item is stronger than mixing Orange Juice and Orange Juice in a blender. There's a cafe on the second floor right outside of the exit to the security room that has unlimited orange juices and a blender so you will never ever run out of healing.
Performing the knee slam move prevents all fall damage.
Survivors can be directed by creating waypoints on the ground by aiming and pressing whatever the PC equivalent of Y would be on your setup. By arming each survivor with a firearm, you can systematically clear out entire zones by creating one waypoint after another. This has the added bonus of preventing the survivors from panicking like they would when they're just following behind you as normal.
There is a hidden SMG in every single area, like on top of a palm tree that you can jump off of an escalator to reach or inside of a fountain. The ammo capacity is too low for you to really benefit from, but most survivors are able to carry it (except for young women) and they get unlimited ammo.
