Anyway I remember this option doing jackshit on older versions and it was supposedly patched to actually make her survive a few years back, which makes more sense.

It doesn't really make sense though because the Sabbat already know who she is and her location. It's not like they can't kick your door in and grab her while you're out. And it makes sense the Sabbat would do that around the time they were planning an attack on LaCroix. The issue is that the game shows you multiple times up to that point that you're having a negative effect on her which is only getting worse and worse, then she tells you she feels like she's in danger. And still refusing to use the options to let her go should result in a negative outcome. Bypassing that just feels like it removes any depth that plotline has and leaves it feeling unfinished.
