I remember playing through ALTTP when I was a kid and having this almost epic sensation wash over me when I got to the end of the game. It's hard to describe without sounding like a total fag, but playing the game made me feel like I really was on this awesome quest to save the world and everything I had done was building up to this one climatic boss fight against Ganon.

>>750914463Nah bro I know literally exactly what you mean. I’ve been chasing the high of games that give off the “epic adventure” feeling for years. For Twilight Princess and DQ5/8 are my favorites that have given me that feel
>>750914463I envy you, anon. I didn't play ALttP as a kid because I found the music grating.
>>750914463bruh that feel was because you were a kid
>>750915907to be fair, I played the game again fairly recently as an adult and felt a similar "epic sensation" when I made it to the final dungeon. >>750916024>bruh kys zoom zoom
>>750916024There is a lot of truth in this. Every first experience is awe inspiring so when you are young and have a lot of first experiences it really sticks with you.If you played another game just like Alttp would it feel the same? If you played a 3rd do you think it would feel dull, muted? If you played 10 games like Alttp would it even register to you anymore? Past it point it all just runs together and feels like more of the same. It's part of why nostalgia is so impossible to recapture. Once you've had that initial experience you can never feel anything that truly new in the same vein ever again, forever chasing a high you can never get back.
>>750915907I grew up with it on GBA. I think the farthest I ever got was unlocking the swimming flippers before I didn’t know what to do next. I think I was in the 7-9 range
Earthbound
>>750914463>It's hard to describe without sounding like a total fag,Too late.
>>750916190I think this is true. I got that epic awe inspiring adventure feeling when I was playing Zelda TP and was climbing the mountain to get to the yeti mansion. I remember looking behind me and seeing the desert off in the distance and stretch forever, I had never experienced something like that before in a game. Now something like Crimson Desert releases with a much more technically impressive vast, epic world and I get bored of it after 10 hours.
There was, well still is, a MMO called Xenimus, it was a great adventure as a child, I was like six years old playing with my brothers, exploring the world, finding new areas, getting new spells, the game was fucking tedious grind but the first levels were fucking amazing, especially since my brothers managed to get to high levels in a game where everything was new and secret until it was discovered, the game had like 200 dudes.
>>750916484I've always wanted to play Earthbound but Toby Fox and his army of fans ruined the game for me so now I'll never be able to enjoy it.
>>750917759who cares? literally everything that is popular has a retarded fanbase. I like earthbound and undertale, I just don't engage with the fandom
>>750917759If it encourages you to play it, most of Toby Fox's fans have not played Earthbound and also happen to think it seems dated because it doesn't have Tumblr/Reddit writing. Also, the average Undertale fan would get filtered by Peaceful Rest Valley.
>>750918492who the fuck gets filtered by a game that allows you to grindboth the pacifist and genocide routes in undertale are harder than anything you're expected to do in earthbound
