i'm your dad's buddy. he had a good mouth on him, don't tell his wife
>>

Can you tell me how the cards work, Mr Faggot.

>DS flashcart
cheap af
>GBA flashcart
$100
I know the reason, but still
>>
>>750915453
What's the reason?
>>
An anon on /hbg/ recommended that I get a Pico ds instead of using twilight menu+. Do they play gba/gb/gbc?
>>
>>750915285
Horrible larp. Even modern phones still use technology similar to this.

GBA flashcarts are more expensive than DS flashcarts because they require internal memory chips to load and run games directly, whereas DS flashcarts act as simple microSD card readers.

Key Differences in How They Work

• GBA Flashcarts (Complex & On-Board Memory):
• The Game Boy Advance architecture expects game code to reside directly on cartridge memory.
• GBA flashcarts must include onboard NOR flash and PSRAM chips to store and execute ROMs and save data.
• Higher-end models may also add extra hardware like real-time clocks (RTC), rumble motors, or solar/tilt/gyro sensors.
• DS Flashcarts (Simple & Direct Streaming):
• The Nintendo DS hardware internalizes much of what used to be on the cartridge.
• A DS flashcart does not need NOR or PSRAM; it simply acts as an interface that streams ROM and save data piece-by-piece directly from a microSD card into the DS system memory.
• Because the internal component count is much lower, manufacturing costs remain significantly cheaper.
If you'd like, I can compare specific GBA flashcart brands (like EZ-Flash vs. EverDrive) to help you find one that fits your budget.

GBA flashcarts are built to respond to the GBA’s requests faster than a microSD alone could, and they were also produced in smaller quantities.

How is that a larp you spaz
>>

What GBA flashcart are we talking about? I was able to get an EZ Flash Air + Micro SD card for 50 USD

Thank you, Groclaudegpt. Now do a backflip off a chair with a noose around your digital neck.

EZ Flash Omega Definitive (NOT the regular Omega) is the superior Gay Boy chink cart.

>SNES flashcart
>$200
What the FUCK...
>>
>>750920030
snes games have trillion different special on-cart chips that differ from game to game. the flashcart has to account for that somehow, usually with FPGAs which are giga expensive
>>
>>750920030
Yeah, but it's $200.00 you pay once and then literally never buy a game again for the rest of your life.
Seriously, a person can easily subsist on SNES and GB games (via SGB2) for an entire lifetime.
>>
>>750921056
or I can pay $0 and emulate them on any toaster made in the past 20 years
>>
So uh... nobody said how the R4 card works...
>>
It utilizes a vulnerability in the DS bootup to run it's own firmware, and that firmware lets you do shit like run a linux-esque environment, run homebrew or pirated stuff.
There were updates to that firmware like WoodR4 which updated the system to help bypass later-date DS games with antipiracy measures (chrono trigger, pokemon black/white were some notable ones).

I bought mine for like $30 off some dropshipper site with a vanilla visa gift card I bought from a walgreens. I used the absolute shit out of that.
Ihad one of the earlier version ones that had a spring in the microSD slot, and it broke within like a year (as it did for most people) so I had to use pliers to get my microSD out lmao.
>>
>>750922815
But how do you get the gaems on it
>>
>>750923045
the microSD. The firmware goes on the root, and you make a "Games" or "roms" folder depending on what firmware you have, put the roms on it, and they show up.
