Is it possible to build a respectable gaming PC with only $300-400?
>>
Buy a PS4 and install linux
>>
>>750915485
If you're black you can just steal one from the local white incel. Your big muscles will scare him.

$0 required.
>>
>>750915485
Go ask the technology board >>>/g/. All I will say is: use PC Park Picker, not Logical Increments
>>
>>750915536
>Buy a PS4 and install linux
Don't do this. It runs like shit.
>>
No nigger, it was never good before but it's REALLY BAD right now you'd actually have to be insane to build a PC right now
>>
you can build shitboxes capable of playing every non AAA game for jack shit by just going to computer recycling centers
>>
rx580 8gb
an 8 thread cpu from the 2010s
ddr3
helixsr dlss mod

That shit is like 10 years old.

Look into refurbs.
>>
Define "respectable"
>>
>>750915565
Jokes on you I keep my gun close to my PC.
>>
>>750915837
you can do better than the 580 on that budget
probably a 2070 or 2060 super, or their AMD equivalents
>>
>>750915485
Second hand you can maybe do $600 if you get really lucky and aim for a good PC by 10 years ago standards. That sort of thing will still run today's stuff at 1080p/30-60fps.
Probably not though.
>>
>>750915485
It's a rough time for cheap hardware.
>>
>>750916021
>>750916170
And it's still doing great on linux with actively supported drivers (mesa), find me a $25-50 gpu better than this.
>>
>>750915485
>Is it possible to build a respectable gaming PC with only $300-400?
Not really. At that price, you barely can afford a decent cellphone, let alone a gaming pc. You can also afford a chinkheld console, which is a good deal if you are looking to emulate retro games up to gamecube
>>
>>750916076
>256GB storage
That's barely enough for Windows.
>>
>>750915485
Which shithole are you from? Even a balkanoid like me can afford a ~4K EUR PC nowadays.
>>
>>750916282
yes, and you don't need to go that cheap if the rest of the system is from the DDR3 era
did you even read what I posted
>>
>>750915485
First off for 400 right now you ain't getting a good PC brand new.

If you into PCs then you can definitely get used parts and build a good PC for around 400+taxes. I suggest you get a Ryzen 5 5500, AM4 Mother Board, Radeon RX 6600, 16GB DDR4, 450-550W PSU (definitely get this one new), a cheap mid tower case (new as well), and an NVME SSD you can afford (recommend a minimum of 500GB).

Now if you ain't down with PC building well save some money and raise your budget cause for 400 you will need to be crafty.
>>
>>750916476
But then you'll have to deal with a trashy prebuilt with a chink psu and a office pc with bulged caps.
>>
>>750915565
Timmy here. I'm dying for my rig. Fuck you nigger
>>
>>750915536
used PS5s are like $300
>>
>>750915536
>Buy a PS4 and install linux
Don't do this. It creates mustard gas.
>>
>>750916764
oh well then
used office PCs have always been the meta for budget builds, you're missing out on a lot if you don't want to take on a little risk
>>
>>750916539
the only actually good advice in this thread

>>
>>750915485
You might have been able to get something okay for that price a few years ago, but things are pretty fucked at the moment. I just paid 400 dollars for RAM.
>>
>>750919456
I built something like this for my Nephew a couple weeks ago as a birthday present.
>>
>>750916539
>NVME SSD
also for what it's worth, can always do an SSD with just enough room for your OS and a good selection of games, then just plan to later get a NAS HDD for bulk storage of media and anything u don't mind being slightly slower to access. I love doing this sorta setup since it lets me have a huuuuuuuuuuuuuge media collection and also archive anything i don't have room for on the main drive but think might disappear from the web.
>>
>>750915485
No, but there are lots of options for gaming on a budget. Chinkhelds. Old consoles that are easily softmodded. Old PCs with old vidya. Lots of stuff for the poors, and you'll probably be better off than me with my $6.5k goyslop machine.
>>
>>750915485
Yes, just buy a Thinkpad, if it doesn't run on that its garbage
>>
>>750915485
>Buy used jailbreakable ps5 for $300 and a 500GB nvme ssd + enclosure for around $100
>comes with 8 core / 16 thread cpu
>16GB of GDDR6 ram
>RX 6700 equivalent GPU
>put Linux on it
There you go. You have mid tier PC.
>>
>>750915485
With that kind of budget you'd probably want to look into something like a used office PC that you can upgrade with a used graphics card. I think aiming for $300-400 is going to be very restrictive though, like if you were to add another $200 on top you would likely get something way, way better. That being said prices are going utterly insane at this point so who knows, I haven't looked very recently.
>>
>>750922628
>Buy used jailbreakable ps5 for $300
Good luck with that lmao. They're going for $500 minimum.
>>
they won't be making gpus anymore and gaming will quickly turn into cloud only. just get use to it
>>
>>750924001
It won't happen Sam.
>>
>>750915485
At that price range you're probably better off asking any friends if they have old parts. I know my neighbor has money issues, but if he asked me I would probably sell him my old computer with a 3060ti for a few hundred.
>>
>>750915485
add a zero and you might
>>
>>750915485
Depends how shitty you want to go. Old Raspberry Pi models can emulate sone older consoles. But you would still need mouse, keyboard, and monitor. Probably better off with somebody's old laptop.
>>
>>750915485
>thinkcentre tiny m75q gen 2 or newer
>hp elitedesk 800 with rx gpu
>used thinkpad with amd ryzen vega 8 or rdna2
>used acer conceptd laptop, nobody knew about these so you can find them for cheap. nothing is upgradeable but a few have okay discrete graphics.
>used office PC with used gpu
you won't find anything "respectable" for less than $400usd. No matter what you do you'll have to make a few concessions.
>>
300 for a 3060 12GB 100 for the other stuff.

No problem, just look for older hardware and older games. A lot can be done with decade-old used hardware.

Damn, I didn't see the RAM, lol. Anyway, look for some second-hand modules or find another similar one.
>>
install a custom windows 10 image with all the bloatware removed
rx580 graphics card
gen 6-10 Intel CPU
and a 240gb SSD

you can play most games on low-medium settings

Try Facebook Marketplace. I just popped onto my local one and 20-ish minutes away a guy is selling an alright older pre-built for $350. There's deals like that all the time on there. You could also do >>750916076 if you've got a graphics card lying around or find one with a nicer AMD cpu in it for integrated graphics.
