The "Sages are dead" theory is... dead.
>>
why is modern 'tendo like this?
>>
It was always a flawed theory propped up by edge lords.
>>
>>750954569
How can a race that can't look left and right with both eyes at the same time because of their giant nose even survive?
>>
>>750954569
or that the original intention but they changed it in the remake.
just like they changed the blood etc.
>>
>>750954569
Seems more like they aren't even aware that they are dead.
>>
>>750954569
Why is this game so ugly
>>
>>750954569
Nah, they are dead. Tardiooo didnt help with shit they died got awakened then show up here as a spirit. Or we are ok with naboruu getting brainwashed for 7 years before dying to link.
>>
GERUDO QUEENS OWE ME SEX
>>
>Zelda worrying so hard about their brand's family-friendly reputation
>meanwhile new Fire Emblem has the loose implication that the main heroine was raped, extorted, and murdered by the protagonist's father
>>
>>750954569
This game is just unpleasant to look at. WTF were they thinking?
>>
>>750954569
Nabooru still SEXXO even though she looks like a weird doll
>>
Why would they destroy the mythology of the sages like this? Less is more.
>>
>>750955193
You seriously don't know how predator evolution works? Did you fail every class in school?
>>
>>750954569
I can't get over Nabooru and those extremely smooth and wet looking lips.
>>
>>750955321
Because it's all based on ugly bootleg dools
>>
Goddamn that's a big nose
>>
They are effectively dead as they are no longer part of the real world and can only exist as spirits or whatever.
>>
>>750955559
You do know that meme image isn't remotely scientifically accurate, right?
>>
>>750954569
You still can't take away how ethereal and bizarre they acted in the original, pointless retcon
>>
>>750955559
Why do you think that nonsense is in any way relevant to the post you replied to? Did your inbred family even allow you to go to school?
>>
>>750954569
In the original they pop out in death mountain at the end, even if in the original they actually "died" they still returned so what is the fucking problem?
>>
>>750954569
oh that sucks. how incredibly lame
>>
Nintendo is supposed to be a family friendly organization desu this never should have slipped through the censors back then
>>
>>750955321
keep crying sametrannying faggot
>>
>>750955674
>muh headcanon from when I was 10 and youtube man says they dead it’s le retcon
>>
If a character has no relevance to the story anymore, it is okay to kill him off.
>>
File: HWTQZgPXgAAEwpT.jpg (215 KB, 927x1424)
215 KB JPG
It was always a retarded theory because of Twinrova saying they planned to brainwash Nabooru again which they can't do if she's dead.
>>
>>750954569
I saw the ending as them coming back to life anyway so im okay with this
>>
>>750955684
They "pop out" in spirit forms and disappear in balls of light after looking on at the rest of Hyrule celebrating. It's literally pic related
>>
If dead people could be Sages, then where are the rest of Rauru's generation? He's the last of the ancient sages, meaning the rest all died at some point, so you need new ones to replace Rauru's dead cohorts.
>>
>>750955821
you sound mentally unwell
>>
>>750955917
This. NOBODY had ever hear of this "sages are dead" shit until recently when people started making up crap that never made sense and goes against both the actual events of the game, and the timeline implications which, yes, actually matter given the game was made to be the imprisoning war of the sages not having descendants.
>>
Next they'll remake Majora's Mask and make it clear that Link is alive.
>>
Where's Rauru? Did they enshittify him into a goat-man?
>>
>>750955917
>>750956224
>>750954569
Nabooru is the only sage that has any narrative supporting her still living after the spirit temple. The others are completely unexplained.
Saria is alive because... she just is, ok?!
Darunia is alive because... he just is, ok?!
Princess Ruto is alive because... she just is, ok?!
Impa is alive because... she just is, ok?!

Nabooru is the only one who can reasonably be assumed to be alive, and even then, it's not a guarantee. Because we don't know if Koume and Kotake actually meant what they said, or if they were just toying with Link by making him believe that Nabooru would suffer for longer.
We also don't know where she was transported, and if she was ok on the other side.
We also don't know if her safety was dependent upon the lives of the witches. If they died, then perhaps the magic that sustained Nabooru would collapse.

Now in the remake they feed us a line that doesn't really make sense.
How is Rauru able to save the sages, and why did he wait until they were in trouble before doing so? Wouldn't it be preferable to awaken them as sages sooner, so they can begin helping sooner? The explanation smells like a poorly thought out patch over a plot hole. Or rather, Nintendo scrubbing out mature themes again, as they typically do.

>>
>>750957757
What is the reason they had to face struggle? I never read the bible. Why did Jesus need to die before being resurrected? As an outsider, it doesn't make any sense to me.
>>
>>750957103
>>750954569
Doesn't this all make more sense if they died where they thought they last were (e.g. in the forest temple), and didn't remember anything between that point and when their spirits were summoned?
>>
>>750957869
That could work too. But it's a farther stretch of the imagination than before.
>>
>>750957858
I guess zoomers don't understand heroic self-sacrifice
>>
>>750954569
It was a retarded ""theory"" to begin with. Wind Waker required you to find new sages because the originals have long since been dead.
>>
>>750958495
Wasn't that the whole split timeline thing? The timeline where Link goes to the future and wins has the sages die/ascend, do their thing, then bounce. The timeline when he's sent back to being a child, the sages still have their inherent, inborn sagacity, but they don't die in the temples and so live normal lives, have kids, etc.

The whole timeline is more fucked up than Fox's X-Men, but that was how I always interpreted what Tendie put out as "official timeline" canon. I think there's a third version where Link doesn't even win, so then they're still dead but ganondorf wins?

I'm 40.
I'm sorry you're unable to articulate why Jesus's death was important.
I'm perfectly able to understand heroic self sacrifice. What I don't understand is why sacrifice is needed for Rauru to pull these people into the sacred realm. Also, while these people did exhibit some bravery in life, they didn't exactly go out heroically. Especially Nabooru who was mindraped for 7 years and was last seen running for her life before turning into magic vapor.

Rauru probably evicted the other sages and that's why they were launched at Death Mountain in the credits.

There was a really popular fan theory that the Star Fox crew all had their legs amputated and replaced with metal prosthetics. Sages are special. They exist outside the natural order of life and death, yet they still die in order to get there.

Another reason we know that the sages passed on, is due to the stained glass murals in Wind Waker. They were made in the sage's last known image. They weren't made later in the sage's lives.
>>
>>750965652
And that is not the same as being dead, lucky for us Nintendo has made it 100% clear in the remake as the characters now state that they survived

This combined with everyone "disappearing", especially after charging into a boss room, is what convinced me as a kid they were dead. Didnt bother me though because time travel means they never died and the timeline is dumb anyways. I didn't even know people debated they were dead or not until it apparently became a big deal for some reason with this release, felt pretty clear they were. This whole "actually we got spirited away" added dialog feels dumb but I dont care as much as a lot of people seem to.
>>750965643

There's a difference between dead and spiritual. The sages in TP never looked "living" and becoming a Sage in WW was portrayed as a sort of noble sacrifice.

Ruto and King Zora ends their sentences with the "zora" gobi in Japanese. That sentence has "zora" at the end. Why would Navi, for no reason at all, suddenly put zora at the end of her sentence for one specific line in the entire game, zora?

I turned the stream off after that. I haven't given a shit about the art direction or noses or other things people have been getting up in arms over but it's clear Nintendo has no fucking grasp on what made the original game good and are completely incapable of preserving the integrity of the game. the retard in question is using false comparison. in the bible jesus had to die because he needed to live an entire mortal life without sin in order to equal the karmic weight of infinate sins of humanity. now you can argue the philosophy of this but thats why. he was subject to all temptations including fear of death, sexual desire, etc.

in the case of the sages theres no real reason they need to be awakened by rauru. it actually undermines their character growth and makes everything seem about him.

But that said, it was always sloppy with logic and a VERY overrated plot.

MM was miles better.
Nintendo doesn't like it because it reflected the mindset of the devs during development, when nintendo started to become this soulless husk of a corp at the time of y2k.
So the moon crushing down on them and they're losing their minds while stuck in a daily cycle they can't escape from.

>>

Why would Saria randomly die?
>>
>>750954569
Every single Japanese person I have watched play this game reacts the exact same way because they all have a better cultural understanding about what the game is saying. They are spirits, they are bound to the spirit realm, they fly as orbs at the end, they can't interact with their friends or family ever again, Mido and King Zora are depressed during the ending credits, and every last one of them expresses gratitude or regret as their final message to Link after giving him their spirit medallion.

>Twinrova capture Nabooru again to rebrainwash her
She is not awakened as a sage at that point. They only awaken as sages after you defeat the monster that has taken over each temple. They do not "teleport around". They are bound to the spirit realm like ghosts and are only able to leave once Ganon is sealed. They are still specifically shown not rejoining the rest of the celebrating people because they can't. Even in the English translation, Darunia and Saria say they can never go see their friends again. Darunia literally asks you to look after his son.

However, they do not die in the physical sense. They become enlightened sages, which was most likely influenced by Japanese Buddhism. They are dead in that they have transcended the physical and become beings of spirit.

>but Raoru saves them
Yes, because someone who physically and spiritually dies cannot awaken as a sage because they would no longer exist.
But awakening as a sage means they become a spirit, which happens upon Link's restoration of each of their respective temples.
Furthermore, even Raoru is shown to only be able to interact with the physical world as Kaepora. This further shows that they are no longer able to interact with the living via their own bodies. The only exception is Princess Zelda, who has awakened as a sage without throwing away her physical form because she possesses the triforce of wisdom.

So can Link. So can a lot of people with magical abilities. Magical abilities granted to them after becoming sages, magical abilities they used to seal Ganondorf away.

How the fuck did people think a few small things = dead?

>The forest spirits were calling for help, so I went to check it out...
>But it's full of evil monsters!

>>
>>750974930
You're basically still right. Their goddess put them on punishment detail as belly dancing whores until they realized that trying to take over the world was stupid. It's Ganon's whole backstory, he's an evil bastard because he's the product of heartless ambition instead of hundreds of proud sisters and aunties.

It's a tomayto/tomahto situation. In the west our most popular 'other worlds from which visitors may never return' are all associated with an afterlife. But that just kicks the can down the road to how you define death and its relevance. If they've gone from flesh-and-blood to fully ephemeral beings who exist in another world and can never return, the difference between them becoming Kami or Xian and becoming Einherjar or a Saint isn't all that big in the grand scheme of things.
>>
>>750982196
Yes, actually. She is explicitly in danger. Link never finds her. And then she appears as a spirit after the fact.

The entire theory completely collapses because Zelda is also one of the seven sages, she's very much alive and corporeal during the final events of the game, and clearly doesn't die afterwards either because her bloodline continues in every possible timeline.
>>
>>750954569
Good
Them being arbitarily dead / "ascended to a higher plane" was lame and felt like Nintendo just being allergic to actually telling stories
>W-Wait, you mean we'd have to actually... THINK about what these characters are doing AFTER they're done helping Link in the Zelda Story Tee Em!? A-Aaaah, FUCK! I'm going INSANE! W-What could they POSSIBLY do besides help Link and then disappear into the cameo/reference dimension!?
So boring
>ERM ACSHUALLY, it's a really deep and meaningful Japanese cultural thing that you just...don't get, whiteboi!!
Okay, then why are there so many other Japanese media franchises that introduce characters similar to the Sages and don't proceed to immediately put them in the camero/reference dimension? Could it not just be that Aonuma has been guilty of "And then the Divine Beasts disappeared because Ganon is dead even though he isn't really" bullshit from the start?
>>
>>750982296
I agree, but even if westerners aren't familiar with Japanese Buddhism, which is clearly the religion that would influence the people who originally made this game the most, if any did at all, we in the west should still be able to understand the sages become metaphysical beings like ghosts or spirits, when they awaken. This should especially be understandable when they keep saying things to link that sound like the last words of a dying friend and also when they outright tell you they will never be able to go back to their previous life.

By this logic, Link being in the Chamber of Sages means he's dead too. The Master Sword drained his life force and killed him, explaining why he's in the Chamber of Sages, and from that point on, Link is a spirit that's roaming Hyrule and going through dungeons. Nintendo even addresses this later in Breath of The Wild when you try to remove the sword and it begins taking away your health. Obviously you can only go to the Chamber of Sages if you're dead. And Link is nowhere to be seen in the ending party.
>>
>>750982654

>I'm after games firmly establish that Sages need to be alive in order be Sages and that a Sage dying means a replacement is needed
This is established in OoT itself, do the whole idea was always bunk. Likewise you hear Ruto calling to you in the Morpha fight *before* she becomes a sage, making it clear that the sages were meant to be incorporated into the actual boss fights somehow. Sages dying 'would' make sense, but is contradicted by pretty much everything and hence was never taken seriously or treated as "what obviously happened" until recently when it became a headcanon meme.
>>
>>750982853
In some peoples' minds, things are either made "for grown-ups" with "dark" implications and meanings like people being dead, or some other nonsensical twists and if it's not then it's made for 2-year old toddlers with happy themes where nothing bad ever happens. There can only be those two extremes, no middle ground.
>>
>>750982654
They aren't arbitrarily dead. They become enlightened spirits. AKA, they no longer have a physical existence. AKA, they are effectively dead from everyone else's perspective.
What's unclear is if they actually physically died when they each entered the boss chamber in their respective temples. Saria calls for help from the forest temple. Darunia enters the boss chamber to fight Volvagia right in front of you. Ruto goes ahead to fight Morpha, but when you get there, she isn't in the room, BUT she yells out to you with a disembodied voice to warn you about the water. Most people think this is Navi warning you, but Navi's dialog is a different color. It was Ruto.
So was Saria run through by Phantom Ganon? Was Darunia eaten by Volvagia? Was Ruto dissolved by Morpha?
Probably, but we don't know for sure. But it doesn't really matter. They awaken as sages after "being saved" by Raoru, but that might be because Raoru was able to bring their soul to the spirit realm or something after they were killed.
Ultimately, there was a reason why the original devs included the scene in the credits to show them fly around as spiritual orbs and then look out over their friends from the mountain instead of join them. There's a reason why they showed Mido and King Zora mourning while everyone else was celebrating and the music changes from happy to sad. You have to ask yourself what that final scene was trying to communicate. If they were still alive or able to go back to their families, they would have shown that instead of the opposite: the sages floating away.
>>
>>750983151
That is literally what nintendo thinks, considering they toned the game way down and reworked a bunch of puzzles to be easier
Their target demographic is children, which does in fact mean 2 year olds
Nevermind the fact that you yourself were buying into that paradigm in the first place by considering spiritual topics to be edgy and dark
>>
>>750983274
>AKA, they are effectively dead from everyone else's perspective.
Except for the fact that they could physically interact with everyone if they wanted to. They're effectively immortal.
>>
>>750982243
The game is filled with characters who very explicitly die and at least three of those deaths happen on-screen. The Deku Tree dies right in front of Link, Dampe dies during the time skip, that one soldier dies in an alleyway, Link literally murders Kotake and Koume himself. The game does not shy away from the topic at all so the writers suddenly deciding to be coy about it with the sages makes no fucking sense.
>>
>>750983357
>Nevermind the fact that you yourself were buying into that paradigm in the first place by considering spiritual topics to be edgy and dark
I'm talking about people in general nowadays. And there's nothing "spiritual" about "The obviously deep dark secret about Ocarina of Time: the sages are dead!"
>>
>>750969254
Schizotheory that gained traction with some autists who were really, really obsessed with coming up with a tidy bow to wrap around the game's potential time paradoxes and gaps in overt storytelling. One such leap was "Why do you never see the characters again after you finish their dungeon and they go to that sealing chamber to get ready to pool their powers?" becoming "OH FUCK THEY'RE DEAD!"

>>
>>750983531
It's not secret that they're spirit beings who can't go back
>>
>>750982970
Ruto is "dead" by the time you fight Morpha. That is why her voice is disembodied. If she were alive, she would have been in the room or they would have shown her. She isn't able to awaken as a sage in the spirit realm until you defeat the evil corrupting the Water Temple.
The sages being spirits is not a recent discussion. People who played OoT as children might not have been able to pick up on all the details. Meanwhile, the Japanese have always understood that the sages are no longer alive.
Raoru explicitly tells you that he was one of the ancient sages that built the temple of time and the gossip stones tell you the owl is someone who once lived a long time ago. Which obviously implies that the sages can exist after death, if not outright imply that they are all dead.
If anything, them being alive is what is contradicted by all the hints, dialog, and cutscenes in the game.
>>
>>750957245
How can he just construct an entrance to the sacred realm?
>>
>Aonuma removed the countdown timer from the Ganon's Castle Escape sequence
Does he think you are literally and physically retarded if you buy this game or something? What's even the point of doing shit like this?
>>
>>750983370
>Except for the fact that they could physically interact with everyone if they wanted to.
They cannot. Which is why Raoru has to inhabit the form of an owl to even talk to you before you meet him. The game never shows or even implies they can physically interact with anyone, and in fact implies the opposite when Saria says they can never go back to their old life and Darunia asks you to look after his son for him.
>>
>>750982420
Not impossible. But improbable. Seeing as how the narrative never supports the idea that she was saved. But the narrative does support that she's surrounded by monsters and needs saving. It's much more likely that Link never saved her.

>her next appearance is as a spirit because I said so
She is a ball of light in the credit sequence.
>>
It genuinely pisses me off that people actually can't comprehend the belief that the sages died without having a direct confirmation. It is so damn obvious, especially them showing up in the credits.

Not allowed to have ambiguity. You vill have the disney happy end in all properties.
>>750981159
The original theory behind the sages is that you were talking to their spirits. Every single one was put in a perilous situation where they would have died if things played out aside from Rauru. Saria walked into a forest temple that had all of the monsters going nuts. Darunia gave a last "If I die I leave the gorons to you" speech to his son before walking head-first to fight a dragon with no hammer and then disappeared. Nabooru drowned in magic quicksand. Ruto got taken by Morpha and likely eaten seconds before you fight it.

They also don't show up in corporeal forms ever again after they become sages. At the end, they're just balls of light. It's obvious that the original designers intended for it to be ambiguous if they lived or not. There would be no other reason to have them be so obviously killed off-screen. Nabooru and Ruto are the most obvious because you see Morpha literally grab Ruto and Nabooru literally goes down in a pool of quicksand cursed by Twinrova, Rauru isn't pulling her out of that unless their magic means nothing to him.

Lol I'm sorry but if this is your argument then you are crazy. The saged=dead idea is weak, but Zelda games have super nuanced thematic storytelling and means of exploring various ideas. There's a reason all the Souls lore fanaticism came out of the Zelda fanbase in the first place.
>>
>>750986560
>revisionism that they're not dead
Them being dead is revisionism. They are bound to the sacred ream, but not *dead*, which is a fairly recent idea.

> I guess the sage of light only shows up as an owl for fun
The game never says that Raru is Kaepora. As far as we know he's an actually dead sage reincarnated as an owl, unlike Raru, who's actually continually been a sage for ages is is that last of the old sages who hadn't died (one of which would be Kaepora).

For whatever reason people think that if something is for kids then it's not allowed to have even slightly dark undertones or be too "scary or adult". Less is more. But less will NEVER be allowed in a remake. All ambiguity must be removed. Every detail clarified with hand waving exposition. I'm actually glad I was never a huge Zelda fan, but I've certainly been in these shoes before. I was aware of the belief of the sages being dead, but wasn't super invested. Neat idea. Especially in a series that was previously defined by having a quiet somber tone. I appreciated the vague mystery of it. I have come to hate voice acting in video games (I don'teven know if this has it or not). The people that tend to do it are never that good at it, and all I ever needed was lines of text with maybe some garbled noise as the text appears. The lack of spoken dialogue adds to that somber, seriousness of the thing. Californian faggots hamming it up every cutscene takes away from it 100% of the time.

Not impossible but when a damsel in distress asks to be saved from a dungeon by the hero and then he doesn't find her there that heavily implies death. "um she's ok and just got out on her own" is much less likely and you must believe the writer put her in danger for no reason other than to toy with the player.
>>
>>750954569
Reminder the demake is made by people who had nothing to do with the original. It is fan fiction.
>>
Even in BoTW they threw back to this by having that game's version of the sages die. Now the remake comes out, murders the tone, and with no chance of anyone coming out to declare it as a separate canon or something. They are more likely to do the opposite and say that the remake and OG are the exact same story. If breaking free from this "remake culture" means total industry collapse, and the total erasure of everything, then so be it. I'm fine to see it all go away just to see some new things that aren't derivative l, pale imitations of something better.
>>
>>750993489
That doesn't matter when they have the full blessing and backing of Nintendo. The one industry giant that moves with more cohesion than individual studios. Also the same company that let the west take heavy liberties with their "Mickey Mouse of gaming" for his movie debut, and then retroactively changed the game stuff to fit the movie. I don't blame you for wanting to try to section off old Nintendo from Nu-Nintendo, but they have a track record for holding their image longer and better than anyone else. The fact that even they are playing these games is a sign that absolutely nothing is sacred.

It was always a dumb theory that made no sense. Why would the good godesses demand multiple human sacrifices? Not to mention no game before or after had anything like that in it, neither the maidens from ALTTP nor the WW sages or the new warriors in BOTW need to die to do their duty
>>
>>750994465
They weren't sacrifices to the goddesses. I'm pretty sure it wasn't intended (assuming they actually were supposed to be dead in the OG, which I'm pretty sure they were) that their death was pre-ordained by the goddesses. They weren't killed to become sages. They became sages because they were killed. Because being a spirit is a prerequisite for being sage. Not because of decree by deity, but because that's just how it works. Because somebody that wanted to add a layer of tradgedy to the story probably wrote it to be that way. Obviously now that's all out the window because I am willing to bet that Nintendo will let it be a total retcon if that was how the original truly was.
>>
>>750994667

Again, why would it have to be that way when Zelda is a sage but is very much alive, and Rauru can just very much physically fly around as a big owl that can physically carry Link. And once again, this has no precedent in games that came before or after the OG, Medli doesn't need to be dead in WW, Gulley doesn't need to be dead in ALBW, etc etc
>>
>>750955039
Made the conflict deeper and the stakes higher. Now it's like a lot of gun games where there sure is a lot of shooting but not a lot of dying.

Ocarina of Time never had a good story. Hope this helps.
>>
OG Ocarina of Time had an issue with not knowing what to do with most locations and NPCs once you were done with their part of the main quest, and the Sages not showing up after their Temple is just one mor aspect of that. Shall I remind you that the fuckin zora's domain remains frozen even after you beat its temple

There were zero flaws in that theory. Everything Koizumi does points to it and it was left intentionally vague to make the player question it. They're going to suck all the edge and soul right out of MM too and you fags will think just because some of the visuals are spooky that it's still the same because you're the exact kind of subhuman these demakes are made for.
>>
>>750970235
>Even though we do see them safe and sound after beating the scary place
No you don't. You see them as ghosts, and it's even more apparent in the credits when they're flying over everyone and watching Mido and the Zora King depressed over the loss of Saria and Ruto. Everything pointed to them having died without explicitly saying it.

Dumbass theory on the same level as Squall dying in FF8

They’re “dead” in that they can’t return to the saved future timeline after coming together in the temple of light
The credits has them watching over the festivities from afar because they are no longer part of the world, just stuck in some kind of spiritual limbo
>>

the more I see of this game the more redundant it looks. So far I haven't seen any reason to play this over the original, all the little annoyances from the original being an N64 game are still there.

>>750954569
Theres no precedent for it happening, and no mention of it ever being a thing. The narration and cutscenes make sure to delineate every single aspect of what needs to happen and how

>we need all sages to seal ganon

At no point are the sacrifices of the sages ever mentioned or even hinted at

Can we talk about the number of time they had to insert DEMON KING into the text?
They did it with" hero of time" too to a lesser extent (the final owl dialog changed the "you're an adult" to "you're the hero of time" made me cringe)

People that pretend the sages didn't die in the original are brainlets. It was very obviously heavily implied. Nintendo just didn't want to outright state that child murder was happening with Saria, etc.

The darker elements of OoT are what made it unique and memorable. Deku tree and sages dying, spooky dungeons and monsters including gory zombies, Ganon nearly winning and turning Hyrule into a hellscape, that guy who more or less suicided in the lost woods, brainwashing and implied torture of Nabooru. It's full of it.

Gotta admit, i love the final boss fight, they even fixed the shit about Navi's fighting together with Link during the fight
In the original, she said they'd fight together but when you use her, she gives you zero advice, saying she has no idea just like the previous fight with ganondorf where she couldnt get info in ganondorf, here she actually gives some
>>
>>751000419
In the original you cannot Z-target Ganondorf, but you can Z-target Ganon. I always assumed that's what she meant, since Z-targeting is meant to represent Navi helping Link aim his attacks better
>>
>>751000475
>In the original you cannot Z-target Ganondorf, but you can Z-target Ganon.
Only played 3DS game, maybe its different from the original but you could target Ganondorf on it but she you ask for info she says the same thing "no idea"
>>
>>751000636
Might be, im fairly certain in the original she says theres like a forcefield around him or something. Probably did it so itd be harder to shoot the light arrows at him

I don't get why Nintendo is insistent on sanitizing so many things nowadays. Link and Zelda getting a cookie cutter bow and tie happy ending in TotK rubbed me the wrong way too. It's OK to have the heroes come out scathed after a major trial.
Shit like OP has me worried about an inevitable Majora's Mask remake. They'll pretty much have to recontextualize the entire game. Can anyone imagine this scene as redone by modern Nintendo? They'll never let it happen in the first place.

>where does the theory that they are dead even come from?

>Rauru is an ancient who built the temple of time long before any of the other characters in the game existed. Implied to be long dead
>Saria goes into the forest temple that is full of monsters and phantom Ganon and she is never found
>Darunia is literally shown going into Volvagia's room and then is gone when Link enters shortly after
>Ruto disappears in the water temple(King Zoro mourns for her afterwards)
>Impa, Zelda's protector, is completely absent from the future
>Nabooru is teleported away to some unknown fate by evil minons of Ganon

>They all appear as teleporting spirits in the end cutscene
>>
>>750989928
>The game never says that Raru is Kaepora
It does make sense when you think about it, Child Link met all the 7 sages before pulling the Master Sword, then you deduce Kaepora must be Raru
>>
>>751000865
>Impa, Zelda's protector, is completely absent from the future

No she is not, people in Kakariko mention she left to the Shadow Temple recently, and I'm pretty sure so does Sheik

>Nabooru is teleported away to some unknown fate by evil minons of Ganon

The witches explicitly say they're gonna brainwash her again, something that would be pretty hard to do if she was dead.
>>
>>751000972
>she left to the Shadow Temple recently
Doesnt that confirm she never came back since they never saw her after going inside?

>The witches explicitly say they're gonna brainwash her again
Killing the witches might have destroyed her body in the process, since she has no way to return from where she was imprisoned
>>
>>751001114
>Doesnt that confirm she never came back since they never saw her after going inside?

No, it confirms that she became a sage and her spirit was brought to the Chamber of Sages on the Sacred Realm, which is what happens to every other Sage.
>>
>>751000972
>people in Kakariko mention she left to the Shadow Temple recently
Yeah, she died in the shadow temple. My point was that she never left it to return to Zelda and we never see her in the dungeon.
>The witches explicitly say they're gonna brainwash her again, something that would be pretty hard to do if she was dead.
We don't know where they sent her but it couldn't have been somewhere nice and safe. She was probably lost forever when they were killed which it what is implied
>>
>>751001315
>We don't know where they sent her

Wherever they sent her it's someplace one can survive because they did the exact same thing to her at the end of the first part of the Spirit Temple and she's just fine (if brainwashed) the next time she shows up.
>>
The only sage that is confirmed dead is Rauru since one of the gossip stones pretty much spells out that Gaebora is his reincarnation. Everyone else is pure speculation
>>
>>750954569
rauru killed them
>>
>>751001382
>because they did the exact same thing to her at the end of the first part of the Spirit Temple and she's just fine (if brainwashed) the next time she shows up
The witches were still alive then obviously. You're ignoring evidence and context just to be stubborn. Believe what you want but I think you're being silly
>>
>>751001308
Yeah, but she did die before, its the only explanation as to why we never see the sages when we enter the boss room (since most of them planned to head to that place from their respective temples except nabooru)
>>
>>751001648
What evidence? You're just jumping to whatever conclusion is more convenient to the point you want to make. We have no way of knowing if Nabooru was sent to some sort of pocket dimension or simply teleported to some holding cell in the Spirit Temple, and no way to tell.
>>
>>751001382
>Wherever they sent her it's someplace one can survive because they did the exact same thing to her at the end of the first part of the Spirit Temple and she's just fine

Yeah but the witches were still alive back then, now they're dead, she cant go back, heck destroying twinrova probably destroyed their pocket dimension
>>
>>751001734
There's plenty of other explanations as to why that might be, they might've been captured or knocked out, or were defeated by the monster and fled somewhere else in the temple. We also never see a single corpse, death scene or mention of 'oh i died' when you speak to them afterward
>>
>>751001810
>probably destroyed their pocket dimension

What pocket dimension? These witches live in a huge-ass abandoned temple, why would they need a pocket dimension that we never see or hea
>>
>>751001862
Being knocked out or fleeing is too cheap considering the stakes and how much they are serious about their duty, especially when half of them were close to the boss room
And when they awaken to their sage duty, they have other stuff to prioritize since it will be their last words to Link (besides Saria)
>>
>>751001896
Then where did they transport Nabooru after you fight her brainwashed form?
Either that or the same shit Ganondorf did with his Phantom boss
>>
>>751002056
>Being knocked out or fleeing is too cheap

What does that even mean? Sheik gets knocked around like a ragdoll by Bongo Bongo, and Nabooru gets teleported by the witches twice, sages can totally be taken out of the picture through nonlethal means and that is explicitly shown to us, unlike them dying
>>
>>751002148
The game does not show us, so it does not matter, but there is no evidence that is a 'pocket dimension' of any sort.
>>
Also, while we're at it, there's a level of evidence that Darunia is still alive during the Volvagia fight, because when the rocks start falling they always fall around Volvagia and not Link, it's particularly easy to see when he's retreating into one of those fire holes on the ground. I always assumed that was Darunia dropping rocks on him from above

>>
>>751002202
Sheik and Link are alive after that tho unlike Impa
