and it's cheaper for them to keep it since they use cards instead of disks.

The main reason physical is being ditched by sony is because disks add too much additional cost, you need a blu ray reader, the disk itself, copying to them takes longer, they take longer and cost more to manufacture.

Using cards is just much cheaper, and they could keep doing physical even by just doing "gamekeycards" like Nintendo does on a USB stick or something. It would still be cheaper than a disk.
