I do think there's a market for both though but there's always sort of empty middle grounds. EO and Expierence games always do really nice world building and feeling, always giving you jumper cables on your brain to imagine every details of the places. Then like the Cosmic Forge Trilogy, it was really charming with the characters, story, continuation and nice mix of charm and wit. (Little things like differenr voices having different reactions to events and missable observations if you dont take certain personalities) Even the New York accent voice acting really tickled me in 8 and found Dominia really comfy in the complete opposite way of Etrian.I wish we got a more of that side out of western games. The reality of the matter is that most of the things people complain about stem from prompters who can't prompt well. The prompters who can prompt well aren't noticeable. We're already at the point where less people can tell what is generated from what isn't - the gap that needs closing is that of the prompter, and Market Darwinism will solve this problem quickly over the next few years.
