which creationslop is worth getting?
>>567323412I've been using Baka post-TA and getting achievements but I haven't updated yet for this latest patch
>>567352759tracker's alliance is kino
>>567306150The Aceles vs Microbe one can easily go either way. Both Sarah and Barrett can be talked down from getting mad over it pretty easily. I used to always pick Aceles until I did Sarah's personal quest and realize she's a complete failure as a scientist and is instead just a UC-indoctrinated soldier who is constantly just bitching about anything that doesn't 100% benefit the UC or fuck over the FC. IMO, that's the *real* reason she wants the microbe, and she just uses her "trust the science" bit to obfuscate that. Barrett is the same but less obvious about it and he doesn't get as angry anyway.Siding with the Crimson Fleet feels great. The SysDef guys are a bunch of uptight pricks and it feels good to fuck them over. Personally, I prefer playing straight Crimson Fleet without being a double agent because there's just less back-and-forth and I feel like less of a snake.Serpent's Crusade is kinda dumb. I did it, and it just never really feels worth it. Andreja is pretty ambivalent about your choice, and the rest of Constellation is absolutely fuming about it, so it's only really good if you want to trigger them all.
>>567359103Trackers Alliance really shouldn't count as creationslop. It's basically official dlc rebranded to shill their shop
>>567361265if you side with the fleet does it stop you from working with vae victis?
>>567361635fair. then i will suggest watchtower and mclarence outfitters, as those are the only other two i use
>>567361643Nope. None of the choices in any faction questline block you from doing anything, even if would make more sense if it did. The NPCs in-game handwave it away by saying stuff like how the Vanguard can't afford to turn anyone away even if they're a former pirate and stuff like that.
>Install Starfield>Mod it a bit>Game is unfuckingplayable>Uninstall>Reinstlal Starfield a few days laterWhats the fucking hex this game has on me??
>>567363015Bethesda Cocaine Magic. If TES and Fallout games can get you addicted, it can sure as hell get you addicted to Starfield. Evidently it also has a second hand effect on people who aren't even playing this game, hence why there are routine trolls on here and Steam.

>>567401135i hate this game
Any tips for building M Class ships? Is it advised? I'm kinda worried landing at major cities is going to be a clipping nightmare.
>>567402147You can't without mods, and it's guaranteed to clip into the surroundings too. If Bethesda ever gives us the opportunity to pilot them, they'll likely have to remain in space, requiring you to hop into your regular ship like a dingy just to land on planets.
>>567403040A space elevator or even a space station that serves as a shuttle port to ferry people from ground onto bigger ships would be great
>>567402147>>567403040There's a few hover mods that can help with clipping.
So whats the consensus on shattered space? I just finished it and it didnt leave me with a particularly good impression. Feels like they took aethetics from Dune and Morrowind without any of the substance and just kind of layered it over a bog standard bethesda post apocalypse storyline. Specifically its weird that we dont learn more about the tenets of the Varuun religion. People are willing to kill for this relgion but it doesnt seem like it really has any rules? Just kind of vague mentions of responsibility and honor? Lame.
>>567418186Most people had either a lukewarm response to it or outright hated it, I give it a 6.5/10 myself. Pretty enjoyable and a cool atmosphere imo, but it could have been done so much better, could have introduced more content usable outside of Dazra, and the main plot could have stood to be longer than it was. Where it shines the most is in it's side content and Va'ruun lore tidbits, especially if you have Andreja with you throughout most of it.
>>567419607Hows Terran Armada comparitively? Ive yet to start it.Honestly the most galling part of Shattered space for me was the lack of new ship parts. Having no Varuun exclusive habs or structures was a real dissapointment.
>>567420151Terran Armada being more akin to a Mini DLC is much shorter and feels a bit unfinished (Bethesda likely plans to expand on it though Creations), but it's also more action packed and more enjoyable than SS was imo. It represents about 25% of the content that came with the Free Lanes update, but offers a decent number of unique stuff that's actually not just a reskin of stuff in the main game, and actually useful to you as well since the experience is not restricted to a particular worldspace. I give that one an 8/10.
So what mods don't count towards the pointy handler limit bug thing
>>567425007Anything that doesn't have a plugin, usually script and texture only mods. Most mods only add a few records and won't really give you that problem on their own, these are what you have to be careful with1. Mods that adds a ton of new ship parts (Falkland, Stroud Premium Edition)2. Mods that adds a ton of new outpost stuff (Better Living, Scrappy Structures)3. Large quest mods (Watchtower and even official stuff from Bethesda)4. Mods that do large modifications to cities (Neon Expansion, New Atlantis Awaits) And keep in mind that you can still install some of these, they just contribute a large amount of records that could push you towards the limit. Be especially careful with using multiple mods that alters the same city worldspace as that's more likely to lead to missing buildings or your game not even being able to load into these areas, this happened to me in particular while I was trying to use Stroud Premium Edition, Falkland, Viewport Hotel, and Positively New Atlantis simultaneously.
>>567418186If you like dungeon crawls but you wanted everything to be unique/hand-placed, you'll enjoy it. It uses the old Bethesda style of exploration. The plot is pretty dumb though. I'm also not a fan of the dreamy neon look but some people seem to like it.

Plus 3k credits in the cargo hold. This character is level 300 so I imagine you get less loot at lower levels but even at lower levels I always see massive loot here. >>567731612No city overhauls, a few ship mods, but mostly it'll be Watchtower, Falklands and then the official DLCs. I've trimmed out a few. Bethesda need to fix this, its the stupidest fucking thing.>>567731836I don't remember doing any jail bounties.
Went back to a much earlier save. CTD. Tried again with an earlier save and it seemed to load okay. I don't know whether to just continue here or if the save is still quietly bugged and I'll only find out later.

>>567732386whatever keeps you from blogging your technical incompetance in this thread
>>567732386Your save and modlist are fubar, anon, I'm sorry but that's the truth, you are going to have to wipe it and start from zero unless you like dealing with this shit every couple of days.Until Bethesda unfuck the pointer handle limit you CANNOT mod this game like you do with other Bethesda games, it's just not feasible to throw heaps of mods on this game in its current broken state. If you want to persist in this, you might want to try using https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/17049 and see what your pointer handle count is at, else you are going to have to scrap it all, and cut back heavily on what mods you use in your new load order.
Ah, another run where I hunt down and murder every employee and customer in Slayton Industries as they flee and cower and get a "You handled that well" as long as I don't kill Slayton himself at the end
>>567733992So I did this and didn't really know how to make sense of the file it spit out. I'm sure I'm near or just over the limit.I'm happy with my modlist as is, so if I just stop messing with it (and maybe get rid of a few things) will it just be fine? Or will it slowly get worse?
>>567734061>slay tonsthey were asking for it
>>567734227It will get worse, because the total pointer handle limit (2097152) also includes stuff stored in your save, which grows over time. The longer you play, the worse it gets, dropping mods midsave only frees up space until save data pointers fill it back up.When you make a new load order, do test runs where you dump the pointer handle count using that tool and see if it's at 50% or lower of the 2097152 limit, if it's not, figure out what you can drop from your modlist to get it within that percent. You'll have plenty of head room then for a long playthrough hopefully. Also, just avoid bloated mods in general. Anything over 25-30k references, seriously consider whether it's something you actually want/need before committing to it.
>>567735087... i might just go play something else
>>567735314I would just keep the modlist on cold storage until Bethesda unfuck their engine because they somehow didn't foresee their game that has more data than any other game they've made would ever overflow a hardcoded engine limit that hasn't been changed since Skyrim.

I always need habs that cover all work stations, cargo, room enough for the crew (I'm not sitting on a ship with 8 people and 2 beds), brig, seperate captains quarters because I'm the bossman, a control station (so the crew can do actual crew work instead of polishing floors) and an appropriate cockpit for the amount of crew.I used SPE this time around and got it compacted into habs that fit 4Lx1W(except for a 1x1 infirmary and 1x1 brig on the bottom floor)and 2H. I managed to fit an AIO berth with 5 beds,2x1 cargo hab that has tons of regular and shielded storage, 2x1 armory, 1x1 infirmary, 1x1 4 man brig, and1x1 captains quarters. Then ran the first Vanguard mission to get all that Vanguard ship drip. It's comfy.
does terran armada actually give you big space fights like the sysdef finale or do i give it a pass too
>>567803890Yes. Major Incursions involves you taking out minor ships in order to board a big one to blow it up on the inside, but there's also a big space battle at the end of the main questline involving you and optionally the UC against the Terran Armada flagship
i got a few small mods that make it so you spawn inside the landing bay of your ship when you exit and the landing ramp stays closed until you open it. i'm dealing with immersion levels previously thought impossible, if not irresponsible
Looks like SAF and MCF finally got that corruption bug fixed. Keep in mind however that saves that got bugged by the previous version are permanently fucked, so you will either need to reload back to before you installed them, start over, or go through the Unity.
>>567793983nordic aliens died out, only thing that remains are chinks and black chinks
So I went back a few saves where everything was still working fine. Went and did a bounty mission (a generic board one) and Delta turned invisible going through a door. Do not use Falkland Systems Ships Services if you're afraid of the pointer handle limit thingThis mod adds something like 300 000 pointer handlesQuite literally the heaviest mod this game has lmaoWatchtower in comparison is only something like 30 000 pointer handles, even though it feels like it adds more and is more complex generally, than Falkland
>>567842271any ship part mods are bloat city and should be avoided at all costsyes this means the ship part flips/snaps ones toogo vanilla ships only or your load order is fucked
By the Great Serpent does ANYONE in the settled systems sell Boom Pop Black Licorice? Or am I limited to RNG spawns?
>>567842271>>567842789To be honest I'm fine with vanilla ships and a couple of "vanilla" flip/merge there and thereAll those big ship parts and habs mods look really nice, there's no denying that, but what I don't like about them is the fact you are the only person in the whole Settled Systems to use those new ship partsIt's kind of immersion breaking to me, like you are never going to board a Falkland ship for instanceHow the fuck does the Falkland company even make money then? And on the Falkland subject, while the interiors look incredibly detailed, it's not vanilla friendly at allVanilla ships habs are "Nasapunk" as Todd likes to call it, meaning cold, sterile, utilitarian, industrial looks, kind of like what you could see in The ExpanseMeanwhile Falkland is full blown "Star Wars-punk" overly futuristic and colorful habs with bazillion leds and tech panels on every wall etc.Just my two cents
>>567842271I removed Falkland like a year or two ago before I was even aware of the pointer handle limit because it was causing issues with New Atlantis. The main problem with the mod may not be the ship parts themselves, but rather that huge showroom/office building it adds which all types of persistent objects and clutter. With it being moved to a space station in a future update and isolated into it's own cell, that "might" mitigate some of the problems with the engine crapping out which can be caused by having too many references in one cell (infinite loading screen, missing geometries, disappearing objects, etc.).

>>567917873>So literally how space is?NTA but this argument has always been bullshit. Exploration isn't boring because of realism (not like this game is remotely realistic outside its aesthetic anyway), but because they were too uninspired and/or scared of braindead casuals to introduce any mechanics that would've given it a shred of depth. We can already see with mods that survival and fuel mechanics to force a bit of planning dramatically improves the feel of traveling, add more weather/environmental effects and some actual activities for the trait POIs and exploration would work just fine.

>>567923085>We can already see with mods that survival and fuel mechanics to force a bit of planning dramatically improves the feel of travelingAnd yet most people dislike those kinds of mods for the same reason Bethesda removed those features in the first place. They drastically reduce the feeling of traveling since people don't like filling up their car IRL, and want to do it in-game even less. this is why games like GTA don't make you fill up your tank. The game would be dogshit if you actually had to fill up your car constantly, it would make driving around much less fun.
Did terran armada get a unity ending, or is it another sharted space situation?
>>567923852Neither got added to the Unity. I wouldn't expect any DLC to be added to the Unity due to conflict issues.
>>567924036That sucks.Could have sworn they left a shit ton of room in there for future updates. Was it the voice actor thing again?
>>567924156No. The issue is the same reason why no two Bethesda DLCs, or DLCs for games in general, tend to touch the same thing. While Bethesda games are more obvious about it with the ESM.ESL files, many games use a similar structure for loading post game content. Basically, the game loads the base game, then loads DLC1, then loads DLC2, then DLC3, etc. etc. If DLC 1 alters, say, bandits, and then DLC 2 also alters bandits, then the game will load the base bandits, which get overwritten by DLC 1, which in turn gets over written by DLC 2. In order to get the changes to bandits from BOTH DLC1 and DLC2, to show up at the same time you need to make a third file, that loads AFTER DLC2, that tells the game to use both DLC1 and DLC2 changes at the same time. This might be easy if you only have two DLC. but imagine if a game gets 3, 4, or 5, DLC. Each one of them adding something new to the Unity. You then need compatibility patches for every single possible combination of DLC someone might have, or else you're putting out a patch that is trying to make references to DLC a player may not have, which can cause errors. This is why base game factions like the Fighter's/Mages/Thieves/DB guilds tend to not be majorly impacted or connected to later DLC. At best you'll get like what they did with Dragonborn where they make small edits to like two TG characters for the while Sapphire backstory thing, but don't touch the TG in any other DLC/update.Obsidian talked about this during NV, there's an internal rule that the base game can affect DLC(like telling people in the Pitt you heard about the Pitt from a BoS guy in Fo3), but DLC can't touch the base game(you can't tell the BoS guy you've been to he Pitt). Veronica only got the updates she did in NV's dead Money because they had planned for it, and had all of her dialogue and shit in the game from the get-go, hiding it behind what looked like a cut quest.
>>567924829Ah, shit engine shitting it up again.
>>567924829I recall someone mentioning, way back when the CK for Starfield first came out, that each of the Constellation companions had like 3-4 odd "dialogue placeholder" sections, and that the first one got overwritten by Shattered space. Seemingly, Bethesda knew how many DLC they wanted to do, and did some work pre-release to ensure that they could add new dialogue to the Constellation companions for the DLC, which was an issue in Fallout 4, and is why none of them except Nick in Far Harbor got new dialogue in any of the DLC, and why none of the DLC companions had VA for most of the base game stuff/other DLC.
>>567924883Has nothing to do with the engine, and most engines operate the same way. Hell, software in general works the same way.
They could just wall off parts of unity and have a simple "complete - not complete" toggle like it currently has, but for dlc shit. It's already set up to do that, if you skip a storyline it leaves the section blank. It's the same section every time.I think they're either too lazy, or VA strike got them.
>>567925396>They could just wall off parts of unity and have a simple "complete - not complete" toggle like it currently has, but for dlc shit. This would just result in the Unity constantly trying to make calls to content you don't have installed(if you don't have the DLC), to see if you have the DLC completed or not, which would just cause a ton of errors to be through out, and, at worst, just crash your game.>or VA strike got them.IIRC, the guy who voices (you) in the unity is just a generic actor that also plays some role in Shattered Space, and does some lines in Terran Armada.
>>567925737He's a pretty good actor I have my alt (You) with me all the time
>>567923534It could just have a toggle. And if they aren't willing to even give people the option to make exploration deeper, it raises the question of why they decided to make the main faction an explorer's group that constantly draws attention to the most underbaked aspect of the game.
>>567925737>Unity constantly trying to make calls to content you don't have installedSeems like bad programming. SHould be able to slap a 0 - 1 - 2 on it. 0 quest not complete dont activate1 ending A2 ending BLike it currently does.
>>567925972Having a fuel system doesn't make exploration "deeper" for most people. It just makes it tedious.I'd agree they could probably add it as an optional hardcore mode toggle, like the other difficulty options they've added, but I'd imagine that would be pretty low on the list given how little most players would use it. Adding features like building space stations at your outpost, or more detailed crew assignments for things like specific habs on ships/outposts, or even outpost blueprinting, would be better uses of their time. And I could see them not doing some of those either since it wouldn't be the best use of their time either since upgrading outposts in such a manner doesn't really make sense for the setting in a lot of ways.
>>567926756I could see them not doing anything else for this game.
>>567926426But again, for the game to know if the quest is a 0, 1, or 2, state it would have to make calls to the DLC to check to see if the quest is active,, or finished, or what way it was finished. So it would still be trying to make calls to content you don't have.
>>567926887Ok, one call on unity load. GGEZ
>>567926829Both Todd Howard and Tim Lamb have mentioned they're already working on the "year 3" content updates for Sarfield, and that there is a Starborn DLC trademarked. House Va'ruun(Shattered Space), the Colony War(Terran Armada), and the Unity(Starborn) are the three big story beats they had set up in the base game. Beyond that, doing an outpost expansion DLC is the only thing that makes sense as a possible other DLC.
Gothy, how many tabs you got open?I wanna know what you do while camping this thread.
>>567927082That still leaves the Unity making a call to content you may not have. You know what often happens when the game makes calls to content that isn't installed? Crash.
>>567926756What exactly IS worth their time or sensible for the setting then? And whatever it is, why wasn't that game written around that as its central theme instead? Kinda sounds like they should've made a Borderlands knockoff instead of a low-tech Trek.
you could just have sex with sarah
>>567927510> And whatever it is, why wasn't that game written around that as its central theme instead? The game's central theme was exploration, and they added things to the game that people find make exploration fun. Fuel mechanics are not fun to but like 5% of turbo autists. Most people just want to be able to fly their ship around, fight guys in space, land on planets, looks for resources/plants/animals/geographical features, and leave. And the game was written and built around that, with the whole artifact hunt being a plot device to encourage people to go out and do that. Many of the things I listed don't really make sense for obvious, in-universe, reasons. Fallout 4's settlement system only works because Fallout is a post-apoc wasteland setting, where most of the world has no organized government, and people regularly go out to try to build new settlements on their own. Starfield is a far future setting with established governments and organizations like the UC, FC, and LIST, that help people set up new colonies. It doesn't really make sense that a rando ex-miner like the player, or a group of explorers(not colony builders) would have the connections, resources, or manpower, to be setting up full blown colonies and orbital space stations and the like across the Settled Systems. Nor does it really make sense that people looking to set up a new colony would join up with some rando ex-miner, instead of going to an actual organizations like LIST to get that done. Hence why they didn't call it a settlement system in Starfield, its outposts. I could see Betheda doing it if they added some pretty big logical leaps in regards to how the LIST organization works, but none of that stuff is core to exploring space.
>>567927702Gotta lick the salt off her feet first
>>567928087Have you even played with a fuel mod or are you arguing against an exaggerated idea in your own head? Its nowhere near as autistically hard to manage as you make it sound.>Nor does it really make sense that people looking to set up a new colony would join up with some rando ex-miner, instead of going to an actual organizations like LIST to get that done>it doesn't make sense for people to join up with an independent settler instead of going with the League of INDEPENDENT SETTLERSPretty sure any outpost expansion would involve joining LIST and even if it didn't, its just a support group for people with far less resources than the player. And not sure why you're acting like being an ex-miner disqualifies you from starting a colony, if anything its less outlandish than all our current options.
>>567931881>Have you even played with a fuel modI tried one out for awhile, it just make the whole experience more tedious.
>>567931881>it doesn't make sense for people to join up with an independent settler instead of going with the League of INDEPENDENT SETTLERSLIST actually having the organization, resources, and manpower, to help people build up colonies. An actual independent ex-miner not.
Any ideas how to advance Into the Unknown through console commands? I can't find the artifact and can't advance the quest any other way. Tried waiting 72 hours for a reset.I tried messing with console commands last night but it got kinda fucky so I think I did it wrong.
Not saying Sarah and Andreja don't have their own charm, but there are some crazy good-looking women stuck in quests and store fronts in this game. A shame they weren't made companions or even followers.
>>567932268Fair enough, different tastes and all. I enjoy the occasional detour to scrounge fuel from a POI or ship way more than easily zipping around the entire map.>>567932485Go talk to the LIST guy on Mars. They don't actually do that much, even a player fresh out of the tutorial is already borderline overqualified for them. They help find a spot, ferry you out, give you some basic habs, seeds and a comm sat so you can hit up passing ships for trade or help. And this is supposedly better than the equivalent UC or FC resettlement programs. The bar is not that high, a dude with his own ship and halfway decent stash of resources wouldn't have any problem recruiting colonists, especially post faction quests.
>>567935758https://starfieldwiki.net/wiki/Starfield:Into_the_UnknownHas the stage list. Not sure if that will help you or not.

They were reduced to culling all livestock and pets for food because of how effective the FC at eliminating the UCs supply and transportation. The UC fleet in the final battle was probably on a suicide run because they had to win and plunder some food and retreat wasn't an option; they'd starve on the way home if they tried.
>>567644050>I also would’ve liked to side with the Spacers in the Altair II mission, and we get invited to their hideout in a salvaged space station.I picture Spacers as using that huge spaceship of their homebase. It’s still full of civilians, though, so you better dismiss any human followers you have.
>>568186830Before the Terran Armada, you had to visit every temple to fully upgrade your Starborn powers a total of ten times. Jumping each universe also increases the difficulty, increasing by 5% for each universe and capping at 50%, meaning enemies do additional damage and receive less damage, while the inverse applies to you, and this includes both ground combat AND ship combat. Now, though? You can just skip once and fully upgrade your powers with Quantum Essence.

>>568215506Some ships can’t be renamed, and some other ships can be bugged and you can only name them once with no chance of renaming them. This always happens with ships that aren’t gifted to the player and directly deposited into their ship inventory. This is a vanilla issue, which was then fixed in Shattered Space, but somehow returned with the Free Lanes update. It doesn’t even come with the funny side effect of the ship randomly undocking from space stations like The Key or The Eye and attacking other ships.
