Trying out Chocolate Edition with Ancient Mega Pack and I'm having more fun with the latter now but these origin 1-level classes from Chocolate Edition are NOT made equally. Astarion gets the Nightstalker class and all it gets is expertise in persuasion and deception, cunning action hide, and a "cantrip" form of Vampiric Touch that isn't actually a cantrip so the usual ways to boost cantrip damage don't work for it.Lae'zel meanwhile gets Astral Soldier which gives her a choice between 2 unique fighting styles, one giving +int modifier to weapon damage (this is what I'm using and she's completely busted with dual hand crossbows along with the mod's changes to dualwielding mechanics) and the other is a once per battle bonus action jump with massive range that lets you attack as a free action after. Also a multiclass-agnostic extra attack at 5th level.

After many failures I've managed to finally lock into the game on honour mode. Once again, the goal is the play honour mode over and over until I beat the game, where I've never played the game on another difficulty.I made the underdark my bitch. The powescaling really tips in your favor once you reach level 5. After doing some of the grymforge stuff I've reached level 6.I spent a long time figuring out I needed to clear this rubble to progress kek (the one that leads you high above the forge's starting area). I went online to see if I was the only one trapped like this and it turns out I cleared the forge out before exploring fully and there were some NPCs and a little event by the rubble. Anyway I'll go back to posting images like before. I just wanted to see if I could get further than my last furthest run (died before the forge).Also I think I'm really starting to like Karlach. I'm trying out HomeBrew now but I'm not sure about this one. The nautiloid was made insanely lethal, imps have 30+ HP now and do enough damage to drop Tav or Lae'zel in 2 hits so even on balanced difficulty it's a 40/60 chance you'll win or lose the very first fight in the game. Zhalk kills the mindflayer in 2 turns so you need to ignore the enemies and dash to the transponder ASAP. Even with a party of 4 at level 2 the fight with the robbers and with the skeletons in Withers's crypt is absolutely rough.

Regularly talking to your companions is also part of the experience: you get to know them and their world better, certain dialogue options not only add/remove Approval but might also affect how they react in later situations etc. If you want to do it in an organized fashion saying hi to everybody right before a Long Rest or two is a good way - they usually have a new one-liner after every "notable" event (they might also comment on locations if you approach them out in the field) on top of their usual dialogue tree. I'm listing all these to showcase that the game is more than knocking goblins on their head, so "when does it get good" can be very subjective. Level 5 a big power spike for most builds (especially martials as they get an Extra Attack) and the longer you go the more consumables and unique gear you'll have to play with. Just something to keep in mind. Entering the Grove and talking to everybody and solving quests there, then running "around" it (let's say everything East from the Goblin Village) exploring usually get people hooked.Last but not least read beware of this general as a new player. Tons of unmarked spoilers both in text and pics. I suggest just posting without actually browsing and only checking the replies to your posts if you don't like being spoiled.
