There were some moments of Wuwa up until 3.0 shit the bed where it it felt like that as well but it always had a very obvious gacha feel to its design. Vagrant Story comes to mind, as well as some of the overarching themes and motifs in Breath of Fire IV (although a lot of the time spent getting there is oftentimes characterized by a whole lot of nothing).

Things I like about endfield:- The segmented open world. Its an objective improvement on the dog ass open world format. Ordered and digestible. Its like inventing bullet points and paragraphs after people only had walls of text to work with. A new zone with each patch thats neatly structured and contained is fun to login to.- gatherables/chests/shinies/aurelyne are immediately acquired instead of triggering a locked animation. Always preferrable and makes the exploration more enjoyable. Also the way the contents individually pop out and you scoop them up is satisfying.- The UI is top tier. I guess this may be subjective all I can say is I fuck with it hard.- Gameplay is extremely optimised. No delays or clunk you just press what you want to do and it does it immediately.- Total swapslop death- in closing im not sure how to put my finger on it the game is just a joy to play all it needs is content

You won't remove it completely, especially at battle start to get out buffs, but past that it's usually okay. Combat flows a lot better this way, because characters enter and exit in sensible ways.A bit like if you'd just change stances mid combo. It having 3 party members usually means one of them is just largely afking though. Some of them still help from off field, but not all of them. And then there's Shunko where she hogs ALL the field time and is as close to quick swap shit as it goes. And trust me, the QUICK is REALLY quick. Spoiler is just a farm stage, but it's 2 swaps right at the beginning.
