I finally finished OC2 the other day, and I gotta say I am deeply disappointed by it all.Before it came out here, onii-chan made such a huge deal about how we're not allowed Avengers because Alaya said so. About how we are using them incorrectly, and whatever other list of things to justify it. 2 years of that shit from onii-chan constantly harping on about it. So while I was not a fan of losing them all, I was expecting there to be some valid reason to let go of them.But what do we get? Absolutely fucking nothing. No Alaya messenger. No real justification. No explanation of why any of this shit matters in getting across the wall in Antarctica. The best we get is some random-ass two sentence comment from black Dantes saying Guda shouldn't use Avengers and that's it. No actual fucking explanation or justification. After going through all the trials and bullshit and being stuck holding the idiot ball doing nothing productive, the only explanation of why we can't have Avengers is fucking Dantes saying "cuz I say so". All that theory and speeches and long walls of text from onii-chan coming here to shitpost about the philosophy of Servant class ethics and all that jazz do not exist at all. Turns out it's all made-up bullshit that has zero citations in the entire chapter. And all our Servants just fucking ghost us. They fuck off after 5 minutes of listening to Dantes, and can't be assed to even say goodbye because it's that important they ghost us ASAP instead of doing anything productive.This is just plain garbage. OC1 was just as bad with having zero discussion on the topic except at the end where Guda says they'll treat Alter Egos respectfully, and that's it. This is so fucking stupid. Big story moments that work great as climactic story scenes anyway but are double hype with the full context (Iori using Tsubame Gaeshi, Ushi-Gozen reveal) and legitimately interesting personal drama (Iori's obsession, Takeru's personal conflict with his way of life and goals).While I know not everyone loved the musou mechanics, I personally think the game did a really good job of playing into Fates concepts too (armor system played into the inherent strength differences of humans / servants, while also being a way to show Iori's growing strength over the course of the game, Master/Servant switching felt like a perfect fit for Fate etc.)And of course the music and art were gorgeous.I'm not going to say the game is perfect, but it is effectively exactly what I wanted and I couldn't be happier with it. I really hope we get another game by the same dev team, though I would hope it's another new time period, and not simple a Samurai Remnant 2 as I feel F/SR was a fairly well closed book.
