It was a mistake to give a free Coralie and Helia at the start because that gave players an easy welfare unit capable of clearing past content you normally need roll units for. A player can go years without playing and still come back at the right time to receive characters able to clear content they shouldn't be. No character should be even usable as a filler party member. This game failed to power creep right.

The Will of Honkai retcon made many past comics borderline unreadable. Like take so many actions in Second Eruption. I'm supposed to accept that a pro-humanity Prometheus actively told Sirin that the pro-human Welt Joyce is a traitor instead of the proper way (Prometheus hates Elysia I guess), and that Welt Yang fighting on behalf of humanity can fuck himself. It never told Sirin there's good in humanity or anything that can incur forgiveness but instead stroked her desire for revenge and kept on giving her more weapons to enact it. If I was Hua or any PE survivor, I'd assume Prometheus died offscreen or went AWOL.

But with or without animated shorts, no one is ever going to remember the entire story anyway. Might as well have the shorts so people can definitively remember that. And attract new players.
