I played Turtle Wow for over five years. A lot of it was on and off because the development cycle was slow. After putting Naxxramas on farm status on my main and alt, there wasn't much more to do until they released new stuff to do, which had me coming back. And it was always nice to be able to come back, to have the same characters that I'd built up over the years. I'd log back in after a month or so away and I'd get whispers from people I'd met welcoming me home.But that's the thing with Turtle clones. They don't have that.The Turtle Clones have a no future. None of them have shown any capability to develop the game. They're all operating on stolen code alone. And it took years for Turtle Wow to learn how to develop good content. It's been said before, but if you compare their earlier stuff to their latest stuff, you can see the improvement. Timbermaw Hold was leagues better than Emerald Sanctum, and Emerald Sanctum wasn't even that old! So even if one of the servers manages to figure out how to make new Turtle Wow content, it's going to take them a while to then learn how to make it good, which is harsh when it will be compared directly to things like Karazhan 40. But truth be told I don't think any of the clones will even try. So I'm supposed to level up another character for what? So I can get bored again and quit when I finish the game?That's the other issue. The Turtle Clones have no past. Those characters you made years ago? Gone. Those friends you've made? They've moved on. There's no attachment to these servers like there was with Turtle Wow. And who's to say any of them will last a year, let alone multiple years?Ultimately you can't go back home. Move on.

I think part of it is how much quests you actually do in an hour, on retail, you get so many quests, most of the time, you get 3 quests at once in the same area, killing mobs, looting stuff on the ground, and maybe killing an elite. It all feels really formulaic and you just get so much quests that it's really tiring to read them and do them. The only way modern players manage to do all those quests is by not caring about them at all, just following an arrow, killing shit, and repeating that.
