The only way to balance it would be to have it take the same amount of % of time as it would take to built it from scratch and to cost the per % missing.
So a shirt that is 50% damaged would need 50% of the materials and take 50% of the time to craft it from scratch.

Got raided by bounty hunters which worried me a bit since they have pretty decent wargear, thankfully she came without a helmet so we were able to dispatch her, she survived (much to Raven's dismay) which was really good because that allowed us to strip her out of her armor to give it to Raven.

Okay, the heroes from the Kiiro villages definitely wants to get out, they usually send me their abrassive lazy cats as marriage partners (which I always reject), but they sent me a 3rd hero already. Now I think that their heroes just wants to get out by any means possible.
The heroes are pretty bad at most things in peaceful times, but they are overpowered in battles.
I had a big impid raid so I had to fight them in the water, I sent most of my Kiiros and Hero Fran to the northwest since that had 2 huge Impid groups (like 40)
I sent my gorilla army to the southwest since it only had 5 impids while I sent Hero Darcy alone to the eastern front which had like 15 impids, one of them with a magical bow. Darcy soloed them all.
Fran, Darcy and Dart also defeated 12 centipedes by themselves.

My Kiiro village finally has a plumbing system, it took 2 years and almost 3 quandrums, but they are finally starting to live like proper cats.
Now I have to finally start to get the stone to build the outer wall and transform the village into a proper castle town.
I hired a few friendly Kiiros to help with the construction efforts, but I didn't have the building materials.
I have to send some gifts to the neighboring Kiiros again and hire some miners.
Raids have been fine, Gorillas at the front, Heroes as the cavalier unit (I got a Thrumbo and a Griffin recently so I will have them ride them into battle after giving them some proper animal armor), Quelna as the assassin with her claws and the rest spreading some auto turrets is a safe strategy. My gorillas that were almost wiped out from the last mech raid is recovering, but I lost all my hauler gorillas.

The neighbouring Kiiros sent us Karel when we asked for a marriage partner.
She was 29 years old and she was married to Alna who just turned 18.
Karel used an eldritch ritual to rejuvenate herself (by stealing a damn raider youth) and after she turned 21, they finally tied the knot (Alna is 19 now).
The place is not pretty, so I will have them renovate the ancient tomb into a proper marriage temple.

Is it a bad idea to deactivate mechs and orbital traders in my medieval overhaul run?
I kind of want a good immersion and I doubt "going to space" or "having satellite living people" might be good for that, or "robots attacking whenever you camp". I personally hate this on vanilla too, I miss some rando raider attacking instead, but since odyssey came out, the one attacking you for overstaying in a camp site is always the mech

The rats are likely steam-punkish for me, but I don't want losing the yttakiin in my gameplay (most medieval settlements from medieval overhaul are baseliners, but just having that kind of makes it boring for me).

Add more races, plenty of medieval houses you can add. Roxmont is really cool, the barbarians are cool, just go searching through some collections / search for medieval + 1.6 + popular in the last 3~6 months and check out what looks cool

I have all sorts of random races, orcs, phytokin, lycanthropes, like 4 different breed of vampires. There's a shit ton of great mods out there that Just Work with medieval overhaul

I'm probably passing out soon man, like I said it's easy enough to just kinda browse the workshop. Especially now, the new ui overhaul for it loads 100 times faster. There's a TON of great mods out there that play really well with medieval overhaul, just pick and choose what suits your taste and if you don't end up liking it remove it and start a new colony. That's basically what I did for a couple weeks till I built the perfect modlist for myself

Yeah, I just mentioned them as something different to look at. For xenotypes specifically, I have elves, I use the anthrosona mods because I like cute animal girls, I use the profaned legion for a bunch of undead, one for orcs, the lycanthrope mod is its own xenotype and actually pretty sweet. You do it like this, just make the xeno an exception.
If you make an exception for their whole race, you will see the rats using industrial level weapons and destroy you.
I allowed the mechs to do this and their spacer weapons are deadly against medieval tier armor and weapons.

What storyteller do you guys usually use, modded or otherwise? I tend to use the Kiiro, Milira or Ratkin storytellers, though there was one time I tried out the Mia Storyteller mod. Mia getting excited as hell can end any colony in an instant, which made me stop using it even though parts of it was funny from how it works.

It instantly kills anything that goes into its mouth, and you can't melee it. As long as you have a way to jump out of the way it's pretty much harmless, but if you don't you just die. I think they need to flesh it out just a little bit more before moving on to the Kraken that they planned, but it's a cool concept

I just discovered that the kiln was for the clay digged from the soild... not the chunks...
also, can anyone recommend me some castle layout? I went for 17x17 spaces for my outer walls, and put some of those walls you can shoot from every 2 spaces, but I realized the enemies can also use them to shoot the people inside (some impid raid showed that to me) and the enemies move way too fast to even be able to shoot them (unless I send a melee dude right next to the window to stop them, but kind of beats the purpose of that), so... does anyone have any recommended layout?
I was thinking something like an "U shaped" choke point like in kenshi (got this image from google, my pc overheats if I try to play kenshi lately for some reason), so I could stop the enemies with some melee dude while everyone else rained ballistas/crossbows to them, but I'm not sure which one would look nice and symmetrical for that, and not become an useless design.
Anyone got some of your castles designs or recommendations so I may get some inspiration?

I'm done with this run, my game is regularly crashing because it's running out of memory or something. I wonder if it's related to one of the mods. My review of some of the mods used:
- Colonist Wages: Fun concept but you have to do the balancing yourself, also colonists are only buying trash.
- Roren Race: Blurry textures, nothing really special about them but I like that females can get each other pregnant. More all female HAR races should do this.
- Mugirl Race: Really cute but unpolished and op, lots of text still in Chinese and the opportunitites to get new Mugirls never showed up for me. Also some of the mechanics feel kinda pointless, like you can treat them like actual cows by hitching them to a post and letting them graze or tie them up with restraints but why would you? There is no benefit aside from roleplaying.
- Aliaile Race: Huge bloaty mod that's also op, very cute too. Wine system is cool with a large variety of wines that have their own special effects. Steam network just replaces a lot of vanilla systems with something that is vastly superior but doesn't actually do anything interesting besides that.
- Koelime: Extremely op, can wipe out raids on her own easily and gives a very strong colony wide buff that's always present. I wish the buff could be disabled so I just could keep her around as a mascot without using her in combat and not feel like I'm breaking the game.

Diabolus mech raid with medieval weapons is not a joke.
Fran and Dart hard carried here, but they still need to deal with the other half of the raid.
It was a mech raid from the southeast and northwest, they just defeated the southestern half that had 2 diabolus, 2 legionaries, some tesseron and pikemans and 10 lancers. Now they have to deal with the northwestern raid that has 1 Diabouls, 6 Tesseron, 6 lancers, 2 Pikeman and 1 Cyclops.
This is going to be hard. I need to finish building the castle walls soon.

The 12 gold golems that fell from the skies destroyed most of the northwestern mech raid. My Kiiros only had to defeat a 4 tesseron and 3 lancers by themselves. After that I sent them to help the golems defeat the remaining 2 lancers, 2 pikeman and 1 tesseron.
I love my natural home security. I have to be careful so Missy (Monica Quinn) and Madam (Lilith Caroline) don't run there as their natural running activity, but they have been a good defense system so far. If they get completely wiped out, they become free gold too.
Nobody got a permanent injury and if Fran or Dart get a post battle scar, we have a few prisoners to remove them.

are there any mods which let you "live with live npc"?
I mean, to share the same map with another "faction", like living in a town, and the other npcs are not being controlled by you, but they have the way of life, they own their stuff, they till their fields, make their food, etc.
Like when you invade a place, but it's not an invasion but a co-existence, every other npc act like the visitors, but they aren't moving out. And of course they may become mad if you start destroying their walls or stealling their stuff.

I made a Xeno with the ratkin size gene (to make it smaller for roleplay purposes), but now it seems its food capacity is less, and feels hunger faster. The children also have the ratkin size gene, and they both have the same capability, which is bigger than the adult, so they get hungry less often. The adult has normal efficiency in the gene thing for food, and the children have different percent each (one 60% and the other 50%), is this some bug or is it intended? if so, is there a way to fix it? I mean, the adult says it has 0.7 total, and the children 1.14, and I don't know if they'll change that when becoming adults.

Also, any recommendation for more sizes? I wonder if I could get big and really small pawns according to their genes.

Relatively new to Gravship stat gameplay, but how do you deal with raids and such when you land on a planetside tile? Do you just go out and fight them normally, or do you set up a basic defensive perimeter like turrets and sandbags only?

Even though I'm on a Gravship, I still have standard gameplay tendencies, I feel like. After landing the Gravship, I always end up immediately building a walled perimeter with a trapped funnel into kill zone right away before doing anything else on the map. Especially since before leaving each site, I always deconstruct the walls and uninstall any unused spike traps to re-use for the next site. I even set it up so that I can easily lead enemies from gravcore sites and such into my kill corridor/zone by setting up the funnels close to the entrance.

Yeah, I know with the Gravship you can easily just fly away if things really go bad, but like a bird born in a cage, I still feel insecure without a way to passively deal with raiders and such.

Fun if you're into chinkshit but most of the mods are not translated so it has less replayability. I also think your disciples have less character than Rimworld colonists since they don't have conversations or relationships and that's a big part of Rimworld enjoyment for me, but if you like the Rimworld endgame of making one man army gigachads with bionics and gene optimization autism, you'll probably like it since it focuses on that more than Rimworld.
