Halsin could have just been a camp follower like Isobel and Aylin and we wouldn't have lost anything (though I think it would have been interesting to have Isobel or Aylin as potential companions). I think it would have been better if you did his quest and he left to go back to the grove having done what he was supposed to or chose to reside in the land to help restore it if you did the good path for Shart at the end of Act 2. He's at best a sort of half-baked gary stu self-insert for the writer. Like Eliminster, Greenwood's self insert, was just a guy who pops up to guide the PC along in BG1 and now in BG3, Halsin should have been treated the same way and not been made a companion.

She acts like the Sharran with no attachments, but her inner feelings and her behavior as soon as she gets the chance directly contradict that, just like in act 3 with the overall rejection of Sharrans in general. This is all good and well written, and the contradiction between what the Sharrans tried to make her vs her actual true feelings is core to her character.But suddenly saying "yeah I'm way ahead of you, I've already been daydreaming about fucking him for an extended period of time" does contradict the secretly fond on real relationships girl who discovered the Sharrans spurring relationships is not what she actually likes and she likes taking things slow and real with you.Whichn is what it comes down to, the contradiction in question. I really wish Kagha was romancable companion that you could get at the end of Act I. Especially if it was getting her instead of Halsin too. I don't know why so may people shill for Alfira though. She's boring. Zevlor is kinda boring too. So I really wouldn't have liked them to be companions. Besides that 10 companions seems plenty considering how rushed Larian was. I'd just keep the same pool and prefer if Karlach, Wyll, and Minthara had much more attention given to them and Kagha instead of Halsin.

There should be a special dialogue option where if it is Shadowheart, Minthara, or Karlach who speaks to Dolly Thrice in the Moonlantern in Act II, they can say that the pixie looks like a bratty little slut who deserves to burn alive in her gut, which would then prompt a cutscene where the chosen character would pinch the pixie's wings between thumb and finger and lift her up to the character's mouth, dangling the tiny woman above her mouth. Her tongue would poke and prod at her tiny purple feet as Dolly desperately kicks and squirms, before she wraps her lips around her legs and sucks her in past the lips. The camera then pans down from the mouth, to the throat, past the collar bone and breasts, and down to the stomach, where you can hear the quiet, muffled screeching and wailing of Dolly Thrice as she gets digested. The party member would then gently rub her stomach, bite her bottom lip, and grin, before the cutscene ends.Would have the same blessing of the pixie effect on the party, but the character who ate her would have +1 HP point until next Long Rest.

I can't remember any halflings but then again there's nothing there that really makes me see them as halflings other than being short. But then again this problem is so common throughout books and stories that they just might as well have made everyone human.

So the inquisitor fight bugged out... I attacked on of the guards in the hallway outside the captain's quarters and before i could kill him he opened the door drawing out the five or six gith who normally leave. I had to have shart run because it would have been game over otherwise and my honour run would have ended. Came back after reviving everyone, killed the gith, and then went back after resting to deal with the captain. Turns out that he never went to his quarters. The inquisitor and the captain were just standing in the doorway staring at eachother. So I killed the captain after still being able to talk to her (and her dialogue cutscene only taking place at her desk. No effect for the doorway and the Inquisitor is just standing there like an idiot. So I opened the door and he immediately attacked. Made him even more convenient to kill. Now I have to head to his room to kill his goons after the fight ended. The whole thing was really goofy.

And I happen to like Mazzy - perhaps because she recognizes the limitations that come with her short stature. The existence of these midget characters in BG2 is no more offensive than the existence of Barcus, Wulbren, and Roah in BG3. I did not wake up one day and decide I would be prejudiced toward fantasy midgets, as that would be caricatural. (The swine that struggles with that word can open a dictionary.) I do not even think the game would be improved if you turned them all into tall humanoids, as that one racist mod inexplicably does. I want midgets to remain midgets - pathetic like Barcus (or Jan), sociopathic like Wulbren (or Korgan), immoral like Roah. That is part of worldbuilding. If there were no deep gnomes, what would the drow even enslave? I bet you never considered that aspect. Not every race is equal. And it follows that if narrative can be reinforced through contrast - the player character's power is contrasted by Inwe's and Alfira's weakness - then so too can beauty. If everyone were elves, how could they be more beautiful than the rest?

We often feel that criminals deserve punishment proportional to the extent of their crimes. At the same time, we understand that the Dark Urge, Shadowheart, Astarion, Lae'zel, Minthara were also victims to some extent. You do not right a wrong simply by murdering or torturing them. On a final note, the player knows that the Dark Urge's redemption is not fake - because they experienced it. That is the narrative importance of the Dark Urge as a playable character, and much of it would be lost were it externalized into a companion.
