>0 turns of immunity means even if they get cured the disease can infect the province and then reinfect the army on the same turn
>AI is pants on head retarded and gets infected while attacking my regions, starts spreading everywhere
>because of anti player bias the attrition is cut by 80% for them so it does nothing to them but if I even think about attacking back my army will get infected and die
this location is so broken it actually ruined my campaign, what the fuck? I had to go back and restart from turn 20 to save the campaign, nothing else in the game has ever made me have to do that.

Despite what the description says, all 3 plagues are the same, but they have a 5, 10, and 15 turn timer respectively. The weak plague only infects the lab settlement so it can be mostly avoided, anon got the 2nd tier based on the 10 turn timer and it probably hit a few provinces he didn't see at first which spread to enemy armies/his army.
>>568932315
The crimson lab is one of 2 unusual locations i remove on sight, the other being the khorne location that declares war on 10 random factions unless you declare a new war every 5ish turns. The chaos locations suck ass compared to the neutral/order ones. The only ones I really like are the abandoned forge and the dark altar that both give bonus stats on recruits, their downsides are really insignificant (chaos corruption for the forge and "1% chance to level a demon LL to 50 on recruit" which is fun)

The factions mechanic in rome 2 is such fucking garbage
>constantly have an X% chance part of your country will just rebel
>but if you get rid of the opposing factions in civil war you can be done with them right?
No it just spawns a new one to take their place

They do not, you're just shit at appeasing them. Anything above either -10 or -5 loyalty (can't remember which) removes rebellion chance entirely. You should be spamming gather support the entire game anyways until you fully control the senate, civil wars are a wet fart at that point.
>>
>>568958789
I shouldn't need to appease them, they should be dead.

Man I always forget how terrible Nurgle feels to play is unless you play Tamhurkhan

Then change to a government type where you can purge or deliberately start a civil war to kill them bitch. Yeah a new party emerges from a civil war eventually but they start out sucking dick, you gain tons of senate seats for winning and you're protected from a civil war for several turns.
>>
>>568959521
Changing to an empire isn't an option until like halfway through the game because you need imperium 5 or something.
>>
>>568959923
If you're in the early game why are you complaining? Early game civil wars are easy to handle because you have a very small set of characters in each party so you know exactly who is going to rebel and can hobble them.

Why Cathay feel so lame now?
This is going to sound dumb, but Cathay feels like it has become the "ITS MA'AM" faction.

There's no testosterone in it. Feels really silly. I don't know. I understand its a fantasy setting, but honestly, there is something so offputting about MA'AM energy in everything.

>>
>>568960305
If you don't want to micromanage then be prepared to fight civil wars. Big civil wars can be fun in their own right. They were added to keep the middle game and late game interesting when you start steamrolling and are thematic to the period.
>>
>>568960470
Rome 1 did that infinitely better by making it multiple actual major factions competing nonviolently until the happening.
>>
>>568960582
>Why Cathay feel so lame now

Not out of place in Age of Shitmar.
>>
>>568960703
Splitting the Roman faction three ways into different pajama colors as if Italy was literally divided into three for three different families to rule, all while purple pajama guys hung around Rome, was hilariously dumb and part of Rome 1's jank, alongside bronze age Egyptians. I'll take civil wars over that, thanks. Just gather support and stop whining.

>>
>>568961192
Dogshit lore and setting, fun tabletop game and good looking models is the only thing it has going for it
>>
>>568961349
Controlling one faction all together makes far more sense mechanically and historically because that's how Rome actually did things dipshit. A family finally choosing to disobey the Senate's orders and seizing control of provinces where they have influence also makes sense when they get pissed off enough. As the Rome 2 families get more random shittos in it as time passes they become more like factional parties in the Senate than literal families. I'm not going to claim it's perfectly historical but it's more fucking logical than how Rome 1 did it. Every faction has to deal with some political system as well, unlike Rome 1 where pretty much every faction that wasn't one of the main 3 was half baked without a Senate tab, especially Carthage which literally was a republic too in real life.
>>
>>568961192
It never really moved outside of tabletop. There's been one bad game and some mobile shit. They're not really pushing anything good from BL or Warhammer+. But then they're not putting out anything really good from 40k either.

Every time I battle their dragon matrairch I set the AI to its easiest so I can goon easier
So I can pretend their tactics stand no chance against pure masculinity
I try to always save dragon bitch last and make sure to surround her with as much ogres as I can

God putting them in their place makes me so hard

The senate did not have complete control over what the families did in real life, it just rewarded them with land rights and gave them directives in war. The families still spent their funds mostly independently and pursued wars mostly on their own and acquired direct control of military forces through their own political maneuvering.

The centuriate assembly had complete control of authorization of war and peace in real life Rome, wtf are you talking about. The appointed consuls for each year were also the ones who announced a levy when a war was declared and usually directly lead that raised legion themselves, with imperium sometimes being extended past a consul's appointed year if a war dragged on long enough. Later on governors of provinces could assume military control of legions through the medium of appointed legati, but nearly every governor in the republican period was a proconsul or propraetor, which means former office holder. This gained prestige for their family to continue politicking in Rome but these families didn't literally control that land, the governorships had term limits like anything else and formal control of those lands was legally maintained by Roman state. You genuinely sound like you're trying to argue for Rome 1's nonsensical portrayal of Rome.

>authorization of war and peace in real life Rome
And the generals mostly decided how they would carry out the military campaigns, the senate usually doing little more than saying "take these men, go to this general region, fight these people".
The governors deciding what to do with the land most of the time, that being the point of delegating governorship in the first place.
The game is halfway making you play as "the senate" and halfway making you play primarily as a chosen family, with the others being depicted as something between subordinate families and ill behaved NPCs that exist purely to inconvenience you.
But the other families should be competing with you and are instead arbitrarily granted power despite you nominally having complete control over everything they do.
The system that simplifies it in the enjoyable way of the senate telling you what to do and governor titles are abstracted as you getting the land you conquer while the other families are competitors in this race is infinitely better than just giving them to you as subordinates that occasionally try to kill you or demand your constant attention.

I think it's less of the idea that the head hurlers are fighting as a unit, and more the specific details that they are capable of launching the heads 200 feet in the air to hit moving targets with high-angle arcs and are, like, four times as lethal as a javelin, that make it absurd
>>

>And the generals mostly decided how they would carry out the military campaigns, the senate usually doing little more than saying "take these men, go to this general region, fight these people".
Yes, that is generally how ancient wars are fought. They are still constrained in their imperium at all by the Senate's approval and if they overstepped their bounds they would be recalled.
>The governors deciding what to do with the land most of the time, that being the point of delegating governorship in the first place.
They had leeway with certain things, but incorrect, they could not just do anything. They were constrained by mandates from the Senate and Roman laws. Governors were charged and convicted all the time for pissing off the Senate. The governors assigned to provinces were also almost never the general who conquered it.
>The system that simplifies it in the enjoyable way of the senate telling you what to do and governor titles are abstracted as you getting the land you conquer while the other families are competitors in this race is infinitely better than just giving them to you as subordinates that occasionally try to kill you or demand your constant attention.
No, it is not. It is stupid to literally divide Rome into separate factions because that is anathema to Rome's actual political system and how it viewed itself as a state. You, the player, have certain absolute power over the entire faction (as in ordering generals or constructing buildings in cities) in the same way you're able to brainhack generals into commanding the way you want them to rather than according to their traits. That's basic game design. To keep the faction from imploding as disparate interests behind the scenes diverge is where you have control over your own family or the party representing the king/leading aristocrats in other factions in the game. This is all fairly standard shit seen in most RTS games with a campaign map, for instance Paradox's own Imperator Rome.

Didn't say they did, I said they decided what to do with the land most of the time as assigned governor.
>The governors assigned to provinces were also almost never the general who conquered it
It is a convenient gameplay simplification that makes for a better game than the rivals you're supposedly in control of being arbitrarily assigned the lands you just conquered by the senate you are also in control of.
>it is stupid to depict the roman republic as multiple families independently competing with each other for land and favor in the senate
>it is not stupid to depict the roman republic as having one specific family rule over the senate and all other families and dictate exactly what everyone does until they arbitrarily decide to secede, the nation of rome being destroyed if the king family is ever killed
The other families/parties should be competing with yours, you should not start with outright control of the senate.

>Didn't say they did, I said they decided what to do with the land most of the time as assigned governor.
Partly, with Senatorial oversight and mandate, until they were reassigned. Your entire argument seems to hinge on the idea that somehow the historical Rome functioned as a loose federation with families slowly expanding their territory with permanent governorships while central authority in Rome was barely present. That's not how Rome worked.
>It is a convenient gameplay simplification that makes for a better game than the rivals you're supposedly in control of being arbitrarily assigned the lands you just conquered by the senate you are also in control of.
It's not just a simplification, it's something that didn't outright happen. I'm sorry, how are you arguing for Rome 1 being a better representation of Roman politics again?
>The other families/parties should be competing with yours, you should not start with outright control of the senate.
You don't, and you get debuffs representing your tenuous grip on things as a result. The fact that this total control doesn't result in generals outright refusing your orders or cities refusing to build a building you designate is simply to make the game actually fun to play. Once again, I don't understand how you don't get this. You made it sound absurd that Rome 2 is a midway abstraction between control of the faction as an omnipotent god and as a family or party jockeying for power when that's how grand strategy games like Paradox games generally fucking do it.

"You are rewarded by the senate the permanent governorship of these lands" is a simplification for the sake of gameplay.
>You don't
I do. I get to decide the armies they lead and where they go, I get to decide when wars start and end for everyone, I decide what is built in the cities they supposedly govern, I can decide when and if they even get married. I am in complete control of literally everything except what lands they're given and whether or not they decide to secede.
>is simply to make the game actually fun to play
Micromanaging secession chance and fighting little civil wars in randomly chosen parts of your empire is not fun. Managing your own realm and vying for the favor of the senate in competition with the other families is fun.

>Micromanaging secession chance and fighting little civil wars in randomly chosen parts of your empire is not fun. Managing your own realm and vying for the favor of the senate in competition with the other families is fun.
It is fun when I get to play as the whole faction of Rome itself and see the whole breadth of factions in the game instead of being artificially isolated to a chunk of the game world based on the colored uniforms I picked. It is fun when my actual choices are what lead to a peaceful campaign or dynamic civil wars rather than a preset singular civil war that always happens when a bar gets too high. It is fun when this civil war mechanic is something every faction you play has to deal with rather than every faction not being named Rome being half-baked. You completely ignored my point about Paradox games doing it this exact way for a reason, just how I'm sure you'll ignore my next point that every RTW overhaul mod ditched the threeway family factional split because it's fucking stupid. I'm done arguing, the game gives you every tool to inflame or deal with civil wars and secession and when you learn them the political system is genuinely fun. It's fun in Attila too.

It is entirely up to you where you send your faction's armies, you can march them to the furthest corners of the world from the first turn if you wish.
>It is fun when my actual choices are what lead to a peaceful campaign or dynamic civil wars rather than a preset singular civil war that always happens when a bar gets too high
Except those civil wars are never fun and deciding to engage in them does not benefit you besides maybe the one time you want to switch government types.

I, too, am doing a Malakai campaign but I'm close to 100 turns in already and had a very different experience so the comparison is so interesting.

I had no trouble with norsca because I paid goldfag to war dec on them (surprisingly cheap) however everyone in the chaos wastes declared on me except malus. Kind of. If you go down a line breaking wall segments in Attila, several will break cleanly, then one will leave a pillar, then several will break cleanly, then 1 will leave a pillar.

It does genuinely seem to be a persistent issue. In one of the M3 dev diaries they talked about issues with past games and walls specifically so I imagine it's probably just that their dev tools suck and they need to anchor walls segments with those pillar sections or something stupid like that.

Nope. Only time there's wall segments remaining is if it's a tower or a place you can put an onager on the wall. Warhammer fucked it up, plain and simple. It is not an engine issue.
>>
>>568981916
I was planning to get some faster/flying monsters from them.
But in the topic of slayers: I'm just stacking goblin hewer stacks, since I can recruit them from the same building as cannons and they benefit from research, adventure and slayer lord bonuses. Also the battles are really fast and simple since they're basically condensed thunderers that turn into slayers:
>shoot enemy via cannon, prioritizing dangerous SEMs and ranged
>enemy aproaches my hewer frontline/backline/anywhere
>switch cannon to grapeshot
>half their units melt in an instant from hewers
>they enter melle with the "artilery"
>oops it's manned by 40 slayers each
>the rest of the troop melt
>the hewers throw another volley if the enemy routs, so they will NOT be coming back
>alternatively the slayers fight to the last man so even if I lose, it's quick and devastating for the enemy
Lots of fun for a single t3 building comp, so just spawning a stack in a newly conquered territory has been my go-to reinforcement strategy.
>>
>>568990254
In warhammer 3 you can basically only break places where you can place ladders, gatehouses, and towers themselves.
Pretty clear that they just made the ladder segment the "breakable" segment and called it a day. Of course, it's just the inside of the ladder segment that breaks, the building is fundamentally invincible just like the gatehouse and towers and what not.
>>
>>568990254
Also Warhammer has these stupid indestructible castle segments that frequently block both attackers and defenders. Which to be fair, Med 2 has sometimes, but very rarely and I think only on larger castle maps.
Warhammer maps are terrible in general. I just went back to Attila recently, and holy shit it's like playing a completely different franchise.

If you play shooting or flying factions, you rape em off the walls.
If you play melee factions, you charge the gate with your entire army and whichever ranged units are on the walls will maybe get half a salvo off and then haul ass off the walls to hide somewhere inside the city. Some lonely spear guys might go up onto the walls but they can't shoot.. so u just.. well moshpit at the gate till they are forced to come down.

>>
>>569009417
For me, its Nasty Skulkers + redline buffs for them asap. They have high AP, very fast attacks (not shown on unit card) and +damage when winning melee combat. 3 on each flank. Since dorfs dont have any cavalry you can usually wrap them up on flank, letting them shred dwarf infantry with damage buff + backcharge. With redline their buff also activates against quarrelers, so you can send 1 against quarrelers on both sides to get the backline to stop shooting as they scramble backwards. Your archers are nigh useless against dwarves anyways (its all high armor + possibly shielded), so replace those archers with Skulkers.

Total War: WARHAMMER III - Elspeth – Thrones of Decay is the best reviewed and highest selling dlc pack behind the full race packs for tomb kings and the vampire coast. and it's pretty close. A single Empire lord is about as popular as the entire Vampire Coast faction.

>unit upgrades are available for everyone so your tier 1 shit cav can be upgraded to shit like grail/blood knights/dragon princes EVENTUALLY
>special unit types like constructs and magical units cost no growth and can be recruited with resources that some of the buildings produce, the way that blessed units work for lizardmen now

Makes growth the most important, as it fucking should be and balancing growth rates can allow for more differences between unit stats for a campaign. There's no fucking reason why thunderers, handgunners, pirate gunnery mobs and streltsi should have the same stats and yet they fucking do.

I figure they want to make Chaos more unique for 40k, since in Fantasy cults and infiltration are secondary while in 40k it's their main asset. Meanwhile Imperial Guard and Orks play straight up like the traditional Total War factions, Eldar will probably be a semihorde with central craftworlds that might or might not take maiden worlds, and Space Marines had to be in because Space Marines.

I'll give u a tip. Take this https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2790754811 and start next to Grombrindal. It's a super fun coop with AI run. I did it a year or so ago. Was very cool. Lots of chaos niggers to slay but you can carve out a corner.

some other run perhaps, I'll stick w this one, currently malakai is still killing trolls though which allowed that generic lord looking ass fucker to get my starting province
but he'll be back... I'm just greeding, I can sue throgg for peace rn, but I don't want the border gore, need to snag at least a full province off him b4

meanwhile that fucking tzeench cult shit is spreading across my land and it takes 1000 billion gold to cleanse, unless you spend the 6k when it first pops up I guess but I couldn't

this is a challenging run though even on normal which is cool, I had 0 challenge as tamurkhan in comparison

What the hell hppened? Please tell my you didn't rush the meele blender faction, please.
>>569045196
The RoRs can trade up really well, that's their one thing excusing upkeep. I would've given it a shot too.
>>
>>569046070
I rushed cause I thought that if meleed from the sides in an ambush like that you have huge penalties to leadership and they'd melt... guess not

also the rangers were fixed on arbaal I thought I could kill him but he just took no dmg from them, so far 4 fucking LLs have arrived to try and stop my malakainng in norsca they can't let a dwarf have a lil motion

Chaos always turns 40k into marinewank since the only faction they have any meaningful connection/rivalry with is the imperium.
SM/IG/Eld/Ork are the perfect core roster because they have baked in dynamics. Orks are a threat to everyone, Eldar pit Orks and Imperium against each other to accomplish surreptitious goals, IG are in a desperate defensive war across all fronts and SM go around helping IG and employing specialized tactics to counter Orks and either cooperate with or foil the Eldar.

Chaos has no reason to chase after Craftworlds, is only vaguely an indirect threat to Eldar and has literally 0 reason to fight Orks whatsoever. They're the epitome of imperiumwank DLCbait.

What a nightmare mode campaign. Have fun.
How many grudges do you have to settle for 100% now btw? You got kicked around a lot so I'm curious if it got super big.

Yeah, that! It increases based on how many grudges you CAN settle when a new age comes, but idk the actual formula so I wanted to see what yours shot up to due to 3 big wars and lots of grudgin.
Pretty big.
Basically every army and settlement (well, the garrison technically) get grudges you "settle" by wiping them. It increases over time but also for every -diplomacy thing they do.
The book of grudges is mostly endgame challanges, except silver peak.
The only thing you use settled grudges for is the meter in the top and force confederating LLs if you beat them in settled grudges by a wide margin (or they died. Which is likely in that nightmare campaign of yours, check if you can add them, it's free)

o yeah i forgot lmao
i can confederate all these guys, but the border gore + problems might be too much if I do it too soon?

btw no settlement numbers mean thorgrim and grombrindal are dead right?
>>
>>569051058
You can do one every 5 turns so can't do all at once anyway.

Incorrect. And dogging Medieval 2 for broken AI during sieges while praising Rome 1 demonstrates your lack of braincells.
>>
I think Medieval 2 is bad because the gunpowder units are crap.
No game without Funpowder is good.
>>
>>569052817
but they're not bad

>>569052887
There is no situation where they are superior to other ranged units.
