Right now it's late in the league so cheap gear is in high supply but it's mostly dead, there should be another league in about 3 months if you want to play when everyone else is playing but if you're just in it for the story now is a fine time. Powercreep and bloat have raped 1's Act balance though so a guide is highly recommended otherwise you have like a 75% chance of any skill you pick being unusable dogshit2's story also isn't finished and has a "bad end" after act 4 (of 6 planned) that flings you into the endless endgame mapping system, but that also has its own shorter storylines and you're easily looking at 30+ hours to reach maps as a new player.1 is probably worth playing through at least once just so you can understand the setting but if you're the type who gets fomo'd then now is a very good time to start 2, probably the best until 2027

So, PoE2 is my first ARPG so maybe this is a bit of a dumb question, but what's the progression like? Wow, this game is pretty based. You kill barbaric brown people in the current time, then you go back and kill even more brown people during their "best" time period.
So spirit walker is not very good for grenades, soaring ground doesn't work and the projectile speed sends them almost off screen and i can't detonate them easily, cluster grenades gets pretty funny, the screen is covered with explosions and i can't see shit but everything is dead.

I just started getting into reds, I'm at 80/500ish points and I'm really not feeling the new atlas tree. In 1 your mechanic would start coming together around yellows, but now the changes are so incremental and you'll get all of them anyway it just feels like grinding out a bunch of the same maps so that they eventually reach baseline efficiency, maybe my problem is focusing on the fort first to buff rarity and sustain instead of mechanics.

Go in, loot the chests, port back to shit, control click the waypoint, new instance, repeat.Its not a great endgame farm, but if you're struggling in the campaign its goated.
