It seems the update is for the US version but ANTiDOTE's release is for the EU version. It seems that version came out later than the US one? Maybe it already has the patch on the disc? It's all quite confusing. If the European one doesn't work out you can try this:

all of them are compatible provided you format them to fat32, just know that 128gb and up will have some issues with loading times (apparently in the main menu more than in games, but i could be wrong)
as for "good", just get any good brand you can think of, ie samsung toshiba sandisk kingston etc etc, don't cheap out on storage (especially on 3DS given everything, saves included, will be on it)

I got a 5.0 digital PS5. I’m trying to catch up with all the latest updates, but is the digital severely gimped compared to the disc PS5? I have a disc PS5, but it’s on 12.02.

Is there a big difference between the two given the firmwares they’re on? I’m trying to decide if I’ll sell one of them.
>>
>>569316532
12.02 isn't great as it can't play the latest games and the exploit takes 50 mins to boot. Piracy is still possible though.

5.00 is very useful as it can play most backports and has Linux.

You could sell either one but the 5.00 is far more valuable.

>>
bros...where are the kickass doom ports on switch2...bros
>>
>>569369710
any class 10 card or above (all modern cards) work for pretty much anything except HD+ video recording, even switch games run decent off a low speed card
>>
>>569180986
>>569201280
I don't think the issue is with other threads being fast, there's literally just not enough board size to hold all (semi-)active threads within 10 pages. So everyone starts churning out bumpposts. Half of p10 is just slow generals, not threads that are sinking due to reaching bumplimit. Board needs to have higher thread count.
>>
>>569369710
Write speed isn't really a factor for console use (unless you were looking to max out that freeshop collection download), and 50MBps is actually a fine rating for larger budget cards. I have a several years old 1TB Sandisk Ultra that doesn't hit anywhere near that write speed.

Looked into them secondhand computer handhelds a little bit more.
You get an excellent choice of:
- kinda shit screen, 1hr battery life, and an sd card slot that fries your card and then itself.
- kinda good screen but gigashit audio, chinese torture ergonomics, minimal software support, and whining fan
- kinda meh everything on a dead platform
- steam deck oled for playing your VNs and indies on, at scalper prices
- $1000+ options to maybe mitigate SOME of the issues

I guess it might be better to fuck around with moonlight after all...

anons, I don't have any subscriptions to AIs but I have a legit useful idea, can some anon potentially help me vibe-code this, or if not advise me on the best way to get this done easily without incurring a cost?
firstly I do have a software-eng background, I professionally write Python/Go (before AI was a thing) so I can handle the tooling side and structuring side myself.

what the idea is:
go through folders on a user's system and based on available title databases, tell them what game saves they have backed up.
i realize this is kind of niche but i have a lot of game saves backed up where i don't have the game title anymore, and some saves are really old and i want to know the date they were created etc.
i know it can be done because i've worked on similar systems in the past. i've also seen similar programs out there, just for particular videogame consoles, not a universal thing.
probably going to try to vibe-code it in Rust to start with just because Rust is the language AIs like best.

tldr
what the program should do is basically scan through a game folder and build a database telling me what game saves it contains for any system
>>
>>569639736
don't save backups app already do this? I'm pretty sure JKSV does
>>
>>569639915
not universally. i want something that works for ps3/4/vita/psp/switch/ds/3ds/wii etc.
i doubt i'm the only one who would find it useful.
>>
>>569640142
well that's where you can start though, given JKSV is open source and stuff
>>
>>569640584
anon that's not really how it works, but okay.
trust me, it's far easier to start with a clean slate on these things.
>>
>>569639736
I'm not an expert in development but I would first research how the saves are structured for each of the systems you want.

Since there's homebrew for most consoles, just pick any open source save manager and then you use AI to guide you through the code and search for the portion that handles saves, and learn how the saves are created and managed, just so you know how to quickly identify saves. I wouldn't recommend to just ask the AI straight away because they can fuck up, it's best to give it actual context, and because you also learn it the right way.

Once you know the saves structure I guess it would be straight forward from there, build your scanner, make it pretty to show the game titles, info, etc, and put it all together with duck tape.

If you're already a programmer you honestly might get away with just using free chatGPT since you're only using it to guide you, not write everything
>>
>>569639736
It's much easier with an agent than to try to vibe code it. Get codex or antigravity desktop (claude for some reason fails me) and simply ask them to scan your drive lol. I mean ask it and tell it what you're looking for, the exact save file formats and which ones for which console (although I'm pretty sure it will search them for you automatically). Then ask it to categorize, catalogue, sort, whatever the files.

I recently did something similar when I got my DS Pico. I told it to scan my drives for all my old ds and gb(a) files, saves and even cover arts. I downloaded a bunch of complete rom packs for dsiware and 3ds eshop, plus the top 25 games for each console the pico can run.
It searched, extracted, sorted and moved everything onto the pico sd card with a beautiful structure and it even got all the cover arts and game data online for me automatically.
>>
>>569652280
ok if you want to somehow make this available for others, then once you finish all that for yourself, just ask the agent to pack it up to share it with others as a script
>>
>>569652280
>>569652474
(me)
last thing, you can use the agents for free, but you only get about an hour's worth of heavy use until they reset, maybe 2 hours. IF you want the cheapest with good coding abilities then go for openai plus or google ai pro subs. I got the latter at 2 month for 10 bucks each, maybe that's still active
>>
>>569653147
and since this is a hacking thread, I just want to mention I'm using both codex and antigravity to crack an android tv box from my old tv provider so I can use it as a generic android box to play picross
>>

Why tf rust. Just use python and blawar's database. Os walkdir recursively through the db and list all the ids and their last modified then do the same for the ones you backed up and their last modified. If more recent save in system then for backup then you need a new one. Claude sonnet free is more than enough for personal scripts. You get like 3 uses a day.

because trust me, i know more than you about this shit. you at least know a workable strategy.
the amount of i/o shit that needs to happen is just going to happen a lot quicker in rust. probably even go. but fuck python lol. i've used it for actual work and it's magnitudes slower than rust/go.
not sure if i need blawar's db, there's already one on gametdb. if i need it, then i'll use it ig.

almost done, just need to set up a multi-plat db now, multiple ways to skin this cat. could just script it with python, basically need to scrape multiple data formats, json etc into a sqlite db.

I don't want to be an asshole, but does he publish donations goals/collection numbers? I know first hand how much time can a project eat and how thankless it can be, but all this talk about supposedly massive server bills sounds strange. His services all hang off telegram and public trackers, surely a text bot that's a shim between titles db and telegram API isn't a computationally huge undertaking.

you guys made me try claude and i'm in awe, i mean i was looking for a simple utility that would manage wallpapers slideshows a bit better than what windows already does and it did. Might not seem much but it is when every other utility like this, even paid (cracked) solutions i tried, would still somehow not have a simple ass "check the aspect ratio and resolution and adapt the wallpaper based on that, to avoid stretched images or black bars"
tldr i now believe in vibecoding

i'm continually surprised at how little AI is being leveraged by the homebrew/hacking community.
there are so many ways we can use this to build or improve existing tooling.
we can redo entire fucking apps like tinfoil only not make them closed source.
we can use it to rebuild taken-down shops.
we can use it to help build 60fps mods.
we can use it to do virtually anything we can imagine and yet no one is using it because some asstard put arbitrary rules somewhere about not using it because muh vibecoding le bad!

Look at it this way. If you ask an architect to make you a house, and not tell it what you want it to have, it will just make a random house with the basics and generic features. and when you see you will be disappointed.
If instead you tell it you need 2 floors, 4 bedrooms, a pool, terrace, the kitchen next to the living room but also laundry room, etc, etc. then it's much different when you see it as it already has what you want and need.
That's it. That's prompt engineering. Now go make kickass homebrew with claude

>i'm continually surprised at how little AI is being leveraged by the homebrew/hacking community.
It's because the retards fell for the "omg AI is going to replace everyone and we'll all be out of jobs AIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" instead of actually thinking about it for 5 seconds and realising that AI is just a fucking tool like anything else.
Sure, some retard that knows jackshit about coding will end up making some broken mess, but an actual programmer can get shit done way faster since he'll use the AI for the time consuming parts, and then just review and tweak the output since he can read it and understand what needs fixing.
Ironically, them insisting on not using AI is what's going to end up filtering them out in the long run kek

it's funny how some people act as if before ai people did everything themselves and there were no shortcuts taken whatsoever, and no "it does shit for me" tools. Not just in compsci but any job, people go "doctors will use ai now!!" as if they didn't just use google before
then again, people also somehow think kids nowadays don't do good in school because of ai, as if kids of any age ever did "good" in school and as if kids of any generation didn't always have something that was supposed to be frying their brain (but never did)

it's only dishonorable if you try to pass it as if you not only did it by yourself when you didn't, but trying to pass as some kind of supergenius because of it
there's no shame in saying "ai did it for me", just like there's no shame in saying "i just googled for someone who did it before me as an open source project and just used that". Like i'm not programming expert but i know the whole concept of libraries is literally "someone did it once so everyone else could just reuse what he did"

you fundamentally misunderstand hacking culture if you think programmers like seeing code. we like solving problems. code is just an intermediary to that. not important in itself. not the end in itself.

Thank you so much anon!!! I'll start reading first thing tomorrow morning when I'm rested.

About 3 weeks ago I picked up this Picofly kit off ebay and it was advertised as being universal. Seller specifically said it would work with OLED (the Switch I want to mod). Seller also said it's pre-programmed.
However, I got no instructions for it whatsoever. I'm not sure which of these pieces (besides the actual RPi controller part) I need to install.
Do you (or maybe someone else here) recognize this kit? Any specific guides for this kit? Which pieces will I need for an OLED and does this require 'kamikaze' install?

Sorry for asking so many questions but I'm lost. I hope some this will be answered in the guide too.

Incidentally, the ebay seller I got this from got nuked and he never replied for my request for an install guide....
>>
>>569952424
If I recall the guide correctly then you need all of the pieces or at most 5/6. There's pics in the guide to let you know if you have the right kit

So, I recently dug out my o3DS, replaced the battery since it swelled terribly.
It was region-changed to JP from back then when freeShop was still a thing to dump JP only indie titles
Anyway, I have downloaded and installed several games from hshop, including the EU version of M&L Dream Team and it has no banner, starts up perfectly fine however.
Any other game I have does.
Is there an easy fix I can do?
Would another region change fix it? Since the eShop is no more on the 3DS, there's no point in keeping it in weeb but at the same time, it's just a waste of time since it's just cosmetic.

Honestly if I knew how to program PS3 Homebrew I would do a PS3 Equivalent to Sharpscale, so any PS3 game that runs at an oddball resolution would be in a canvas, for example, GTA IV on 720p would render at its native 640p on a 720p canvas, same with 1080p but its now at an even bigger canvas, and MK9, which is 360p, would linedouble to 720p and linetriple to 1080p.
On the PS3's PS1 emulator, have an option to force 240p/480i if the user wants to, if the user is using 1080p output, have both a 4X and 5X option when the game is using its 240p mode, while 480i parts would linedouble.
For the PS3's PS2 emulator, have an option for 1080p output for non-backwards compatible PS3s and aside from that do the same as PS1 on PS3.

I was cleaning out my old rum at parent's place and I found my old PS3 slim + a box of controllers.
I need to clean all the controllers but is there anything else I can do to refurb them all a bit?
Does a PS3 need anything other than external cleaning + air duster treatment?
And controller batteries are probably crap by now. Are good batteries as hard to find as PS4/5 batteries?
Anyway, any advice is much appreciated frens!

I had been using one of my PS3's original controllers (bought at the time Diablo 3 came out - whenever that is) up until late last year. It still works, as in I could play high level Tekken on it without so much as a missed input due to controller. And the only reason I replaced it was because I had bought a Dual Sense for the haptics.
For what it's worth, I never once opened it and only cleaned the outside. It's super hot all year round where I'm from so the rubber from the joysticks are quite literally melted away. But that's about the only complaint I have there.
Plus the battery doesn't hold a charge for longer than 1 hour (not an issue since I use it wired mostly) but I imagine you could buy bootleg batteries for cheap now for so cheap that even if they're low quality and die early, it's not gonna be too much of a trouble.
>>

I bought a few PS5 DualSense batteries and they've all been junk and a scam. Nowhere near the stated capacity. Much less than OEM capacity. All the reviews were probably fake to some degree. And both didn't pass the hair dryer test.
This is why I'm weary about buying PS3 batteries...

>We learned something new today boys.
>Also, nuts.
Shittiest batteries fail that test. Why? Because these packs lack an NTC thermistor. It's job is to monitor and lower or cut off current to a battery pack and prevent fire. It's a 10 cent part. If the manufacturer replaces it with a regular resistor, it shows they don't give a fuck about quality and every other part of the battery is shit.
Unfortunately, if it passes that test, it doesn't mean it's any good or or matches listed specifications. But at least it won't burn your hands or burn your house down.
>>
>>570430846
Idk man, it never would've occurred to me to test single cell battery for a thermal cutoff. For high density battery assemblies it's a given, but what the fuck is a small single pouch going to do, if it's gotten properly hot shit's already breached/shorted and other safety measures should catch it. It doesn't generate appreciable amount of heat in normal charge/discharge cycle.
>>
>>570328957
Yeah, I have.
I had some games that have DLCs and without locale emulation the 3DS won't access them, so I did all games at once with LumaLocaleSwitcher or whatever it's called. Languages get applied correctly into German, except for Pokémon. Not that it matters since I get to choose the language directly after booting (and being able to at least katakana finding German isn't much of a problem)
Guess I'd have to somehow patch HOME to be EUR for it to be recognized which I don't think is possible outside of just region changing.
So, I assume there's nothing I can do to only fix this one banner.
Luckily, it's just this one game and only cosmetic. So it's not that much of an issue for now.

Be straight with me /hbg/ is the ps5 jailbreak a meme?
I finally got a pro due to all the new hackz being released (and having another way to play my ps4 dumps with PiSSR2 in the future) and put the dumps on an external m2 (not used as the extended storage option of the console itself) and the loading times are atrocious.
In open world games I literally run into invisible walls until all the stuff loads in. Never had these problems with my jailbroken ps4 and considering I got the pro + an m2 I thought I would be gucci.
So is there a better way to do this or is this really it? I'd never even thought that this would be an issue in the year of our lord 2026

You're done gaming. You plug in your controller to charge and you go to bed. You get woken up by smoke because the controller's on fire. If you're lucky, your house is still standing.

But that's not the point I'm making. My point is that many manufacturers skimp on parts and if they're gonna a skimp on a fucking 10 cent part, you can't trust them that the capacity and other specs are correct. And that you're probably getting scammed.
Finding an honest battery manufacturer is nearly impossible because people buy based on bigger numbers or the price alone. So no one would buy a honest-rated mid-range battery at a higher cost.

That's the curse of the (broken) marketplace we currently have.

That's an example circuit. Here's an actual circuit from a generic Dualsense battery. NTC thermistor and the calibration of those mosfets is all that's preventing a possible fire.

Mine is reasonably quiet when clean (as in, audible without headset when running full tilt, but it's a lower frequency stable wind whoosh, not annoying/drawing attention).
Versions got progressively quieter with subsequent revisions, mine is second gen CUH-71** and if you're looking specifically for the quietest one you probably don't want the first gen 70**; there's 71** and the latest ones are 72**.
Also of note, I used to use my pro as a USB power source so it was just sitting in sleep mode for months mounted under the desk, but apparently it still ran the fan at inaudibly low rpm. When I decided to dust it off and play metaphor after a yearish of idling, it was super loud and ultra clogged with dust inside. The dust buildup was way worse than after similar time of actually gaming on it occasionally. Was very surprised by that.

I have done so since (and stored PS4 since there isn't anything particularly enticing to play on it now), but having a slow charging 5V off a real beefy and guaranteed high quality PSU is a good idea on the face of it.
People love their $5 alphabet soup aliexpress chargers and they love ramming 60+ Watts into their phones, but if you're just looking to top up phone charge while it's sitting on your desk during the day, and to charge wireless headset/mouse/controllers overnight, lower current is objectively kinder on your device batteries and a console PSU is going to always be decent enough quality and be operating way under capacity, unlike cheap chargers.

Is 20.5.0 the golden firmware or something?
Why wouldn't you just update to latest?

Newer firmwares have progressively less free memory available for sysmodules; though this isn't an issue for "normal" hacks

Anon who had trouble with the M&L Dream Team banner here.
So I decided to do a region change back to EUR because I won't have to care about region emulation as much.
Is there a way to keep my stuff? Mostly asking because of my friend list (if those still work with Pretendo) so I don't have to add all people again?
Is it just a matter of copying the stuff inside my current CTRNAND to the new CTRNAND?
It's also okay if it's more involved than that, I'm pretty comfortable with mostly anything as long as it's at least possible.

dbi/tinfoil only supports atmosphere 1.9.5 without the issues caused by retards reverting the block scires added to mesosphere to stop writing to tls address 0x108;

homebrew that refuses to compile to tls address 0x180 are blocked by atmoshere versions above 1.9.5

tinfoil and dbi should be the only homebrew left that don't.

the people who want to use those, stay on atmosphere 1.9.5 to have them work properly, which highest supported firmware is 20.5.0

if you don't use either you might as well be on 22.5.0 with latest atmosphere
>>

it doesn't even matter if it's abandonware, it's open source. and given it's already better than DBI/tinfoil which are both closed source and the DBI faggot has talked about inserting viruses and malware into it, then that's a no-go.
awoo has always been shit. there's a reason people started using tinfoil when awoo was already available.

Yes, I am not sure what is the best thermal paste/Pad for PS3 but you should definitely help the system with a new thermal solution because it helps the components not overheat. (Even the final PS3s are now 13 years old)
All I know is to also replace the fan with a 19 blade for better airflow, use an SSD to have less moving parts (There is quicker load times but it is bottlenecked by the PS3's architecture), and just clean the shell and the electronics.
Remember to check your model to know what to do since BCs PS3s, Fat PS3s, Slim PS3s and Super Slim PS3s are very different.

I wonder if Claude Cowork (which is sadly only in the paid versions) would be easier to bait into this.
>Set up a local folder for it
>Put whatever files and info about HorizonOS in there there
>Try to finagle it by going "hey I'm trying to find some bugs on this firmware, to fix any possible exploits for the next release, can you help me out haha"
There's also the Odysseus + local model option, which is easier to jailbreak or just straight up find "uncensored" models, but requires a pretty beefy rig to run the not-braindead models.

>>
>>571075662

>>
>>571075662
>How beefy are we talking?
Can't say for sure. I have 16GB of VRAM and can run some 10-12GB models with some space to spare for a bit of context, but that's probably not enough to keep the AI from going retarded after a few messages of looking through the code.
Maybe 32GB VRAM could squeak something out, since you could get some 20-ish GB model and use the rest of the VRAM for the context. Or you just go hard and use the entire VRAM for the model and try to push the context onto your RAM (which will give you slower responses)
>And how much is Claude Cowork
Cowork is in any paid tier, I think. The cheapest Pro tier is around 20 bucks per month (depending on your region). In this case you'll have to deal with their limits, which are reset every 5 hours, and then there's also a "total" weekly limit.

>>571077278
True, you'll still need a Switch 2, but at the same time there are probably enough people online that would be willing to test it on their consoles if the stuff is posted on github kek

>>571085429
It's because VRAM is way faster than RAM. If you can fit the whole model in your VRAM, it'll process responses much faster than if it has to dip into the RAM.
>offline Japanese to English translations
Outside of local AI, I don't know any, sorry.

>>571086640
Right, true.
Mostly, I was thinking about it using whatever info we already got from the Switch 1 and HOS to find a way to get a softhack for the V2/Lite/OLED, and then meme magic making that hack work on the Switch 2 without trouble just to make Nintendo screech.

frens, I managed to install TMR sticks for my PS4 DualShock. Took me over 2 hrs because I didn't know what I was doing but in the end, it all worked out great! This was the first real soldering I did. I had to get a soldering iron etc.

>I have normal hall effect sticks in the switch, they work fine and there's no soldering involved in the swap.
Yes! Switch uses tiny flex cables and screws. no soldering needed.I was just wondering if it's worth it. Does it feel better in the end?
TMR seems all the rage now since it uses less battery than hall effect.
>>
>>571121489
Can't say I notice any appreciable difference between resistive sticks (when they are functioning well) and hall effect ones.
I expect any real difference would come down to actual mechanics (cap size and shape, spring resistance) of another unit, not electrical performance.

I replaced Dualshock's sticks because of the drift. I've noticed it last year and it got progressively worse. After gaming with TMRs today, the feel is the same but there's no drift. It's very tight. Even tighter than Dualsense sticks.
My Switch is v2 and sticks also drift (especially the right one for some reason). Thinking about going full-TMR with every controller I own. Haven't looked into Xbox controllers.. don't play much on that platform these days.
I just gotta "git gud" with soldering.... that's the key to getting this shit done.

ifixit has a guide on what screws and cables to remove but that shit's obvious once you open it up. go over it as a reference anyway.
the hardest part, as I mentioned, is removing old sticks since you need to remove a lot of solder.
there are dozens of ways to remove solder and I've used a desoldering braid or wick. if I was doing it again, I'd get a cheap desoldering hand pump.
you also need a pair of tweezers and a desoldering iron. I used some old one from my dad's toolbox. definitely a mistake which complicated things too much. get one with a digital display for the temperature so you can adjust it easily.
finally, you will need some solder wire and solder flux (NON ACID one!)
It's not difficult... it just takes patience. good tools help immensely.
the best protip I can give you is this: NEVER pull or tug on anything. If it's not coming out easily, pulling or tugging will only create permanent damage. pulling on sticks while desoldering and trying to remove them by force will end in broken pads and an unrepairable controller.

for all the tools, get advice & coupons from /csg/ on /g/. buy everything (including TMRs) from china.

I use some pliers to gently pull it while melting all pins on one side to make an opening between the stick and the board. After that I stick a piece of metal (pointy thing bottom left) in the opening to continue prying it off while melting as many pins as I can at once. Maybe that can help you

I did the homebrew and hacking on both with the paper clip method, they both run pirated games, but their one just keeps running out of battery very fast, even in real time i see it drop every minute the switch is on. It's really weird, i don't know why it happens
>>
>>571251506
firstly, no one can even extract the any xorpads or anything until the switch 2 is actually hacked
secondly, the emulators are literally just reimplementing whatever sciresM or friends write down in CFW, ie they are referring to the homebrew docs in most cases.

In most cases, all the exceptionally smart people also know how to reverse engineering that stuff themselves, which means that they must have embedded knowledge + dev knowledge + electrical knowledge + hacking knowledge

Anyway, with the yuzu team dead, the ryubing lead fled, it's looking very grim because every emulator was basically solo carried by 1 guy doing all the work, around 3-5 of their students doing some minor stuff.
>gdkchan - Ryujinx/Switch - the guy that the yuzu team were copying
Intimidated by nintendo lawyers, he's never coming back after they turned up on his doorstep
>wwylele - Citra/3DS
He started working for FAANG (Amazon, aka the PIPforest slave labour company). People look like literal skeletons, so I don't expect that he will ever be coming back to the scene
>Martin Korth (aka the No$GBA/DS guy) who also wrote some of the 3DS research
He is constantly facing homelessness and joblessness and has been doing so for many years, so I don't expect this guy to show up and save everyone's ass. He probably can't even afford a computer or a switch 2, bro.
>DeSMuMe - DS I don't remember anything happening except for their utter disdain for pokemon. The smartest one might be the melonds guy I reckon. But anyway, I think a lot of the older devs are wisely staying away from the shitshow that is getting sued by nintendo

sounds like an issue specific to your friends' system cause i've been using autorcm for 8 years now and don't have that issue. My advice is to have them boot their switch into hekate, as hekate iirc recalibrates the battery on boot, and then idk make sure you don't let the battery go under 30% too often (that's the main thing that kills modern batteries, of any kind so smartphones and shit too)

Switch U sounds like a fun little thing to keep an eye on. It's a home menu replacement. Might check it out myself.

the newest kstuff is being tested. apparently it doesnt need to be paused anymore and is much faster. the side effect is that stuff that relies on it are broken because it expects a delay in starting up games (like apr emu loading on said delay) but since its near instant now, it breaks. so dont seek out the new version yet. just wait for the stuff that uses it to be updated

He's such a massive POS.
>>
With the release of Pokémon Champions, or Pokémon CP like I like to call it, I edited a save on my OFW to be able to transfer mons via Home.
To do that, I had to update the console, which I didn't for quite some time, to download the game and such.
Then, sysMMC wasn't booting anymore, so I had to update Atmosphère and shit, but after that, everything broke a few times, but with the back up I had, I trasnfered a few files at a time until I got it right (OFW on latest, emuMMC with older FW, and all the autobooting and stuff).

Now, I don't know what the FUCK did I do back then.

What's the best way to update the bare minimum without removing every setting I have? It took me a few days last time (tried it a few times over 2 hours, then came back at it next day to finish).

I don't remember the details anymore but he defended when Nintendo DMCA'd some emulation program. All this after Nintendo took down one his Switch videos.
And he was constantly ranting against "pirates".
Anyway, it's been too long and I don't remember the details and don't even care at this point. Would never watch his content again. Just seeing his face irritates me.
>>
>>571424301
He's a game dev who mostly works on retro ports as a means of preservation. Of course he has to say he's against "preservation" that results in him getting less work/money.

>>571417706

>>

>>
>>571425394
>His hypocrisy knows no bounds.
it's a common thing with emulation, it's still very much piracy the exact same way as piracy on the actual system is (at least according to the companies that sell games, which by the way don't like people lending and reselling games either) but for these people it's somehow completely fine as long as the game you're emulating is just a few years old. It's like they're on the cusp of proper piracy but don't want to leave their moral high ground, so they jump through hoops to justify their piracy while saying piracy is bad

I have a dumb specific question, been out of this space for a bit. I bought a legitimate copy of Pokemon Violet on launch, pirated the DLCs a while ago, and hacked my save to give the mystery gift item that lets you access the epilogue. If I were to buy the DLCs on sysNAND now, transfer this save to sysNAND and then to a Switch 2 from there, what are the odds that Nintendo would care? I know unmodified saves are generally fine but I'm not sure where the line is on modified ones.

>>571252065
To at least attempt to participate in discussion, I've just started up my hacked launch day switch for the first time in a long time and the battery is fucking toast, probably won't last a full hour. Depending on how old your friend's switch is and how well they've taken care of it (I've treated mine like shit) they should probably look into replacing the battery.
>>
>>571434058
nigpatches, son.
Though I do believe the rentry page should be updated to include a sys-patch setup so people stop getting tripped up here.

>>571437224

Is there a way to transfer my save files from my hacked switch 1, to my stock switch2?

like i finished dozens of games but i got the game cart for several games and i don't know if i can transfer my save files to them or not
>>
>>571462823
inject the saves into a clean no pirating sysnand (you need to own the games) and use Nintendo's built in transfer system
>>
>>571463345
i do own the games like the physical copies, how do i inject my savesthat i have on cfw into a clean sysnand?
do i transfer my saves from customfirmware to an sd card and then put the sd card into my stock switch and transfer to the switch 2?
>>
>>571437296
now what the fuck do I do? I still can do stuff over USB
>>
>>571463962
NTA, you do have the pirated games on an emunand right? You first need to export em all with JKSV (legit games and dlc only). Then boot into sysnand with cfw enabled. Open JKSV and import the saves for the games you own (you may need to boot the game once if you've not played it in sys). Exit sysnand cfw, reboot and go into stock sysnand. From here transfer your stuff to the switch 2.
This is simplified and I'm assuming you're taking precautions to avoid a ban. Worst case scenario your switch 1 is banned with your saves on the 2

>ArkSama has Released the First Native PHU A53 Kraken + APR Game (PKG Alternative) - Evergate
>This is effectively the equivalent of a PKG file. This is huge news!
>Instead of relying on formats like open folders, exFAT images, or PFSC/PSF compression, it uses the PS5's own A53 processor to load and run the files. That means it avoids the performance penalties associated with those formats while also taking up less space than a typical open folder install.
>At the moment, this is only a proof of concept (ArkSama says, "I still need to optimize the charging via the A53 at the APR level, but it works."), so there isn't a tool available to convert games into this format yet. Hopefully that changes in the future.

Because they'd need to hike the price way up to $1128 cough to make it make sense financially as a retail PC? Microsoft may not be actively subsidizing the BoM cost of it right now, but nobody runs a billion dollar business to break even. Big consoles want a 10+ fullprice games attach rate, or a shitload of microtransactions to skim the top of.

A reason I read today that made a lot of sense: if they could get turned into PCs easily companies all over would buy them in bulk to turn them into office and work PCs. Crypto bros would use them to mine Bitcoin, AI bros would churn out "content" using them etc. Hell we could even see a PS3 cluster situation again with military buying them in bulk to process air force data or some shit. Bottom line is, MS wouldn't see a single cent from all these people using their Windows Xbox for anything but games and spending money on their store. Worse for them, imagine someone using Steam instead of their store funneling more dosh to Gabe lel

yeah but at that point it just becomes the piracy tax, you buy the system for 500-700 bucks and then let's say another 100 bucks for that, everyone sane would get the system to do that and we're back at square one
you could say they're making money off of that, but idk i guess it wouldn't fly for investors or whoever is making software for the system as is
