I finally pushed through the early zones of GW2, ive literally tried this game so many fucking time since launch. Finally got to the Italian Tuscanny zone and honestly fell in love. It's quite underwhelming because you level so fast it renders the entire process pointless. Why does the leveling system even exist if the developer treats it as an extended tutorial that can be skipped by consuming externally obtained items? On top of that, your level is scaled down in zones so your progress isn't ever noticeable. Its only upside is not having to go through a potentially tedious grind on another character all over again rather than the mild nuisance it is now. i want to like this game, but it really seems like every time i open a menu im being redirected to a cash shop. oh need more bag space? how about getting some crystals. thats a cool cosmetic you've got, oh it costs crystals. you want to apply a cosmetic but you're all out of transmutation charges, how about you get some crystals. you want to play through the story? i know you bought those expansions but you'll need to pay for the inbetween chapters or the story wont make any sense. where did that guy get that mount? oh its a paid skin. barbershop like wow? well no but im sure black lion can help you out for a pricelike yeah, technically theres no sub fee or battle pass, but it really feels like at every corner and in every possible menu and bad they're trying to bilk you for crystals and wring money out of you, and if you dont play the game super often gold is very difficult to make, world content and quests barely award anything, and definitely not enough to exchange for any meaningful amount of crystals

Almost all of the nice looking armor is from in-game sources IMO, the gem store sets have about the same hit vs miss rate as anything else and there's way more that come from the game. There's capes in there I guess but the gem store is mostly outfits that nobody likes and then glider and mount skins but those don't matter unless you're the kind of retard who thinks you look cooler standing around on a mount instead of on foot (wrong, you always look cooler on foot)Plus Gold to Gems has pretty reasonable rates so all the gem store stuff is kind of an ingame reward anyway as long as you have fun playing the game
