The committent to actually characterising people in-story probably means that enemy ace profiles are making a comeback. Guess that means I won't have to repeat the Kitten And Mouse saga.

Personal two cents on trimming the OP: I'd definitely ditch the Ace Combat 3: A New Translation part because the MEGA links in that pastebin are dead, and the necessary ISOs are in the new MEGA.
>>
I'm worried that the heavier emphasis on an ongoing multiplayer component is going to preclude modding.

Hey buddies, started a new playthrough of AC7 on PC but I’m running into issues. Music and voice audio keeps cutting out and it gets to the point where the mission I’m currently on crashes been trying solutions but no luck so far I’ve never had this happen before

yes, trucks already supply every military in existence and since it possesses a 3d printer capable of producing combat drones, it stands to reason it can also produce everything required to function in combat, so the trucks would just have to deliver raw feed stock

Do you really need an SSD for 8? They aren’t exactly affordable right now, at least for me.
>>
>>569870090
Best case scenario without an SSD things are just gonna look very weird since lots of assets are not gonna be able to be loaded in time and the loading times in general will be quite bad. Worst case scenario not being able to load things in time causes the game to crash and renders it unplayable. If you are unsure about performance I would just pirate it first to give it a try. Shame they haven't released a demo.
>>
>>569870557
It might have Denuvo though.
>>
>>569870090
Damn man i want to be honest with you, UE5 requires a SSD to be usable, even the optimized games.
If i were you, i would download a free copy of Expedition 33 and try it on your rig
>>
>>569870685
The new Lego Batman had Denuvo and got cracked day 1, you could also just use the Bypass method which seems to be universal. Denuvo isn't as invincible as it was in the past anymore.
>>

shit is basically essential and mandatory on a modern computer
>>
>>569871198
You can still get by with running HDD only depending on your system. A lightweight linux distro still loads relatively fast and as long as you're not running anything heavy it should be able to keep up with it. For most gaming besides very lightweight indie games, or older games, I do think an SSD is important though, yes.

I was planning on doing all endings for Ace Combat 3, but decided to just move on. The game is definitely very ambitious, and the Y2K design is neat, but man, the actual combat feels kinda anemic compared to AC2. The sound design is very low-key, the music is very "atmospheric" rather than intense and memorable, the planes don't feel as good, and overall, it kinda feels off. The story being basically Mamoru Oshii's version of GitS is neat, but at this point kinda tiresome. I knew Rena's entire deal the second I heard her voice. This character archetype has been done to death, and they don't deviate from it.
Overall, it reminds me of Tekken 4 - I can tell the devs were going for something really cool, but I can also tell how rough-around-the-edges the new stuff is, meaning that it's best appreciated from a certain distance. I have lots of more interesting games to play, so I wanna move on to the PS2.

You need a very beefy PC for it, according to the minimal specs. I'm pretty sure these are superior to the PS5 technologically, which makes me wonder how they're gonna optimize this game.
>>
>>569875219
I still think it's gonna run like shit, at least right after it releases, and there's gonna be endless complaining about it on Steam.
>>
>>569876008
Actually requiring 16 gigs at minimum is a guaranteed shitshow in Steam reviews.
But it honestly sounds like bullshit to me. Are they saying the game's gonna run at 1080p/30fps on the PS5? No way that's gonna be allowed. But then why are they asking for more hardware than the fucking Microsoft Flight Simulator?
>>
>>569876008
People are going to cry about it not running on their 10 year old 1060 amyway.
>>
>>569877181
As they should do. Games look and have way less fidelity and interactions than ever, it's just all automated shit so that those developers can be utter monkeys and still churn out games, and the customers pay the price with dogshit performances.

>>
>>569875219
Am i really that crazy for finding these minimum specs very normal.
go browse the top sellers on steam and almost every AAA game has comparable specs.

The only outrageous thing here is the file size and this is 100% cause of the 4K textures, ideally they should have those be optional downloads like a lot of other games do.

>>569877464
>less fidelity
AC8 looks so much better though then 7
>>
>>569877612
Because developers were still innovating on everything and needed more power, you are right,
But now, they need DRASTICALLY more power to do the same things they did for the last 10 years, but with AI upscaling and fake frames because doing the lighting by hand is costly, so they need to use unreal gimmick #588 and you pay with your performances.
The fact that you need a RTX card or do loops around that is literally only because the devs didn't get bothered to do the lights-
>>
>>569877612
I think people wouldn't complain as much if it wasn’t so painful to upgrade in current year, every component is fucked now in price compared to just GPU's a few years ago
>>
>>569878208
The earliest rtx cards are 8 years old, this is not some new tech. If you have the same standards a 1060 user did 10 years ago(1080p 60 fps) you could easily run this on a 3060, a 5 year old midrange card.
Why is everyone talking like you need a 4090 or 5080 to run the game? If your standards got higher and you now want to run games at 1440p 144fps then obviously you're going to need better hardware. You're pushing like 5 times more pixels per second.
>>
>>569878081
I'm not shitting on the game, the game looks good. But i know damn right that if the industry as whole didn't go as it did, that same fidelity would have been easily reached with the power of an old 1060, because we had that already.
>>
>>569878926
Crysis is nowhere near the same level of fidelity though. All the materials have that 2000s plasticky look and dynamic shadows are all far too sharp. No volumetric fog either.
Absolutely amazing visuals for 2007 but it looked obviously outdated by 2020.
>>
>>569878854
THIS is exactly what we don't know and what scares people. I have a 4080 on 1440p monitor.
Recently there was a release, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, PURE UE5 slop with all the bells and whistles of the fucking engine.
I pushed 15 fps on all minimum at 1080p, just because the engine didn't like my setup and optimization is a lost art (and i know this because i have a friend that is a gamedev)
And what i hope is that this doesn't happen to Ace Combat.
And that's ALL up to the developers

>>
>>569879350
Don't we already know from the content creators that a 5080 can max the game at native 4k and get 60 fps? That means if you lower some of the more demanding settings and drop the resolution to 1440p you should be getting 100-120 fps on a 4080?

>Games look and have way less fidelity and interactions than ever
This is ultimately the problem. I would accept having to buy a new graphics card if games looked measurably better. But they don't, and run worse.
Battlefield 1 is 10 years old this year, and it still looks incredible and runs like a dream. There are games coming out this year that look worse and run like dogshit even on new hardware at 1080p.

PA has a good track record with optimization, 7 is a technical marvel.
The only thing we really know is that the rigs that youtubers played the game on a few weeks ago had these specs.
and it ran on 4K with 60-80 fps (guesstimating this from people saying it ran fine and sometimes dipping below 60)

now we don't know what the settings are but seeing how this was an event to show off the game its pretty safe to assume it was max or at least high settings with most likely Quality DLSS or native.

so you'd probs be able to run this fine, also not taking into account there's 3 more months until release
>>
>>569880249
Yeah i should, but on my setup, like hundreds of others, it just doesn't work because there's no optimization thanks to magic technologies like upscaling, framegen etc. etc.
My GPU and CPU usages are at 40-60% with the game downscaled at 1080p all minimum.

Then compare the pic i posted to the 2007 crysis one. The GPUs and CPUs have become extremly powerful, but all this power gets sunk into bad developement practices, not in actual innovation.
>>
>>569880674

>Oh you were talking about AC, fair enough.
Yes i still believe in PA, but what scares me is what UE5 (not directly, it's a great engine) did to game developement in the last years.
I get this part and there are lots of games that run badly or at least substandardly on modern hardware because of these shortcuts. Screamer off the top of my head looks ~fine~ but it should be running at like double the frames it actually runs at. Compare it to Forza Horizon 6 which actually runs slightly better but its graphics are a whole league above.
That said I still think it's silly to expect a great looking game like AC8 to run perfectly on 8 year old hardware. You have to upgrade at some point.

3's flight model feels somewhat slow all things considered, I actually like the heaviness of the controls a bit. Like your planes have momentum and take a split second to start really registering inputs. But the dogfights don't feel as fun and the pseudo special weapons system that switches automatically takes getting used to. I do want to get all the endings though.

Damn, playing AC4 after the PS1 games is like playing GTA 3 after 1 and 2. The gameplay was improved a ton, it's so much smoother and more fun to control. The overall aesthetics are not as all over the place, the (admittedly basic) cutscenes really bring in that Gundam atmosphere, and the entire package feels more cohesive than ever. It really feels like the series of "fun but piecemeal" arcade games is becoming something larger. I can tell I'm gonna have some real fun with this one.

Are these two all you need in 7? Very good flight performance, well rounded weapon loadouts
>>
Faust's bossfight is pissing me off. It's been 2 nights of trying and getting fucked at the third phase. The TGT planes are so evasive the best chance of killing them is using the gun, but the continuous explosions make them hard to follow without taking damage. This is fine on phase 2, but phase 3 really fucking amps this up to a thousand, and it's hard to kill the flaks causing the explosions because CHANGING TARGETS FUCKING SUCKS IN THIS GAME and there's a billion targets so I have to pray I target the correct one. By phase 3 all the chip damage from the AA and explosions have usually taken away a significant chunk of my health, so flying through the explosions is not an option.
>>
>>569890254
I mean you can beat the entire game on Ace in an F-16 while S-ranking every mission so that's technically "all you need".
That said these 2 provide a decent and well rounded loadout but you still might want something with SFFS and something with LASMs for missions with lots of ships.

you would probably just wait in load screens for 4-5 minutes a piece best case, worst case experience big texture topping, stalker 2 for example has like minute long loading screens on a M.2 PCI-E SSD, on 7200rpm sata i assume its gonna be 10-15min, this engine just isn't built for slow storage, every time I use a PC without an SSD as main drive could immediately feel it though, not just fast boot into windows but everything is more sluggish including opening folders n such, highly recommend a cheap one desu, can be found for 50$ still, 256gb nvme one for 50 euros just checked my local store

I have to get something off my chest: most ace combats have some nice but mostly forgettable tracks. Sure, I'll remember Unsung War, Zero, Liberation of Gracemaria and Chandelier, End of Deception, Daredevil and Agnus Dei but it's mostly one or two tracks per game. It's mostly pleasant but plain.

Except Assault Horizon, the soundtrack from that game SHREDS, perhaps to the electric guitars but nearly all of the tracks on that OST are bangers. Dogfight, Shall Defend, White Devil, Naval Warfare, Keep Alive, Eyes, Decisive Battle, Release are still on my playlists.

Not a common opinion but you won't find many people who think AH's music sucks. I do find some of it blends together a bit too much and the Hollywood Arabic music that isn't actually Arabic at all doesn't stick out to me much. Personally though I think Mrs. Krista Yoslav is one of the most beautiful tracks in all of AC period. It's very emotional and haunting in a way that most of the games don't go for. Shame it's wasted on Markov though.

Also there's always GOTTA STAY FLY, which is probably the funniest song in the series.

I have a feeling it's buddies who haven't played 7 in a while comparing what 8 looks like on their 1080p, maybe 1440p monitor, to what they remember 7 looking like in the months/years since they last booted it up. We get the same posts complaining about system requirements/game performance/graphics every time we get more AC8 news, when simply comparing level of detail on the planes and the clouds between games shows that 8 has noticeably improved graphics. While I agree that "better graphics" has long since reached diminishing returns, and as a Monster Hunter fan I know how shitty UE5 performance can be even with good hardware, it's all so tiring watching the same discussion pop up again and again. Especially from people who haven't upgraded their hardware in years.

This still doesn’t make any sense to me. How can the top-tier bundle be sold out if the individual art book item is still available? It’s the only thing in that bundle that would actually be limited lmao, the rest is just the game itself and the normal-deluxe digital stuff. I’m not complaining too much, I also bought the separate artbook/vinyl bundle and will be preordering the deluxe edition from Amazon or GameStop or whatever. But it doesn’t make any sense.

Bamco's jp website doesn't have bios for those guys yet, I think? At least, I wasn't able to find it. The chinese website has the picture related though.

■Adriana Sanders (CV: Yuko Sanpei/Melissa Medina)

A strong-willed ship's doctor aboard the aircraft carrier Endurance. Many on board are fond of her because of her helpful nature, but she herself is unaware of this. She will offer suggestions on how to treat the wounded without hesitation, even when it comes to the first officer.

Also says this about the cmdr:

■Jessica Parker (CV: Rieko Takahashi / Debra Wilson)

A colonel, she serves as the executive officer of the aircraft carrier USS Endurance, overseeing its operations in place of the largely ineffective Captain Gordon. Due to a chronic manpower shortage, she hires anyone of usefulness, even ordinary citizens, barely managing to keep the carrier running.

So who knows, there definitely is some shenanigans going on in that carrier.

I did notice that a lot of the portraits look strange as hell.
I think they're portrait renders of the 3D models, instead of the 2D-drawn portraits that 7 had.
I'd like for them to be placeholders, but I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to go with 3D renders because the focus on first-person cutscenes has made them decide that the fidelity of the models is good enough.

>>
>>569966051
It could well be, they have some weird rank names to non Japanese eyes, especially if you translate them kanji by kanji instead of just looking up rank equivalencies. In some ways it's more logical, Privates are all the character for warrior, 士, preceded by either 陸 which is land, 海 for sea, or 空 for air, depending on which branch you're in. But if you transliterate it, you get ranks of like 1st class sea warrior or chief air warrior.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranks_and_insignia_of_the_Japan_Self-Defense_Forces
>>
>>569978197
Leaning towards dumpster because gooners would just expect more anime girl archetypes and get mad when planes get the focus instead as they should.
>>
>>569979054
So when are they introducing the fire branch of the military to round it all out?
>>
>>569979054
Oh, so that's where the Tau got it.
>>
>>569979353
Honestly it makes it really easy to invent branches of their military, I don't know what the fire branch would be but the ranks would be kashi for private, kasou for sergeant, kai for junior officers, kasa for senior officers, and kashou for generals. And if they wanted to make a space force it would probably be chuushi/chuusou/chuui/chuusa/chuushou.

Could it be Sergeant major? You could say that a sergeant is a "senior-private" and the highest ranking sergeant is sergeant major? For the navy (US Navy at least) it probably should be something like master chief petty officer? Probably some weird translation errors. Although now that I think about it, shouldn't a doctor be a full officer anyways and have a non-enlisted rank?
>>
>>569977707
>she's freaked out by flying through a tunnel

>>
>>569980183
JSDF doesn't have an equivalent to Sergeant Major, their highest enlisted rank is equivalent to First Sergeant for Army, Senior Chief Petty Officer for Navy, and Senior Master Sergeant for Air Force. And the kanji is pretty simple, it's just (land/sea/air) + Noncommisioned Officer + Chief

But that's what they're putting as the minimum reqs for upscaled 1080p at 30fps.
>>
>>569981717
A 6600xt is a decent bit faster than a 2060 so it's only listed as minimum because previous gen amd cards don't have gaytracing. And the 6500xt is 4 gigs(the 8 gig version is rare and would just confuse people).
>>
>>569982006
So I'm kind of SOL with my 5700 XT.
>>

I don't believe they would force scamtracing with no way of turning it off. That shit still fucking destroys framerates, and base PS5 would melt if the game forces it. If the hardware recs were written with it in mind, then the game would probably run at 1080p/30 on GTX 1660 without it.
>>
>>569983042
Why else would they explicitly list hardware rt as requirement?
Also it's possible that it's only forced on in some areas of the game, like the 1sr person cutscenes on the carrier and can be turned off for gameplay.

Your flying a ground attacker not a fighter. Have you flown the 102 or 103 yet?
>>
>>569996514
yeah the deplhinius one was probably the best
but I wasn't tryinna hit air targets, mostly ground, and these things have problems with pulling up in time after a bombing run to not hit the ground, other multirole or "advanced fighters" like the berkut don't, that thing can do everything

that other anon just called it a ground attacker...
dafuq is the point of high altitude planes when the lockon range is always <2k and the enemies are never high altitude
well besides that one mission AC2 gave me where you have to try really hard to catch planes flying extremely high
>>

They do handle different they don't have mobility set to high. But Neucom will send you a plane that puts all other to shame in terms of everything

You start the mission by detaching from a carrier halfway up the stratosphere lol.

Yes its a total pain for ground but its meat to be as its a high alt fighter only. Its like the blackbird trying to use them on ground targets is a challenge mode thing.

>>569998019
Yeah, sorry. Was looking at the wrong pic.
The 211 is just bad, the 103 makes for a better ground attacker despite being a fighter.
It's also easily the best non superplane.

The story is going to be about the effects of Social Media on Modern Warfare.
You're playing as the embodiment of "A mass delusion created by the rumour mill of social media (actual quote from the reveal trailer)", taken advantage of as a political tool to drum up support for the war.
The Sotoans seem to be framing their attacks as a "Holy War", and I bet it'll come to light the movement was influenced by internet radicals.
I'm speculating the twist will be the whole thing was orchestrated by AI bots influencing public opinion in both countries (probably belkans again)

Jean Cope got a new post

>Jean Cope (VA: Kenjiro Tsuda)
He holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and serves as the leader of the Joker Squadron. Known as the "Wings of Sieve"—named after the FCU capital—he is a legendary ace pilot hailed as a symbol of hope. However, that reputation was a fabrication; he was selected for a "fake ace" program due to his exceptional piloting skills, particularly his mastery of evasive maneuvers. In his private life, he is fond of gambling—sometimes even skipping out on his debts—yet his affable personality ensures he remains well-liked.

I'm pretty mixed on 7's part system but the Phantom really feels like it comes to life with Acceleration++ and Deceleration++. Really makes energy fighting come to life as you quickly thrust to break out of turn fights and rapidly bleed speed to get a good angle off. Also helps that the Phantom is the lowest point cost plane so you get that sweet multiplier applied to all your kills.

My heart lies with the F-16 though, it's mindblowing how smol those things are. 8 giving the F-4 gunpods and the F-16 QAAMs really excites me.
>>
>>570050683
See the S/MTD was a late 80s tech demonstrator giving a pre-production F-15B Canards and thrust vectoring with the idea that it'd not only improve performance but allow for shorter take off and landings.
The S/MTD prototype was later refined into the F-15 ACTIVE which took off the 2D thrust vectoring gear (Raptor Boxes) and put on full 3d thrust vectoring nozzles onto the back of the Eagle. Apparently got some crazy results for NASA but well the S/MTD program was just an experimental project.
As a side note said airframe was used as a testbed for the Strike Eagle's avionics

>X-49: YSH-60F helicopter with wings and thrust vectoring

Russians started to add missiles to some variants last year. Some were just bolted on to be the explosive part of the donre but some can fire those missiles. Looks like they showed Iran how to do it. While Ukraine on the other hand has shot down several Russian choppers with the normal FPV drones.
>>
>>570071441
I'm wondering if maybe the Shasneed wasn't actually targeting the Apache and it just got hit because the targeting algorithm fucked up on the way to another target. If it was even one and not a surveillance drone that went off course.
>>570071998
There's also been footage of Apaches from the US Army and Gulf State militaries using attack helicopters as flying anti air guns against these drones, with some success too. Seems like suicide drones vs helos isn't a very air fight, but Apaches and the like are decent at intercepting them.
>>
>>570072649
Choppers are good at the role I've seen several blowing Russian drones out of the sky. Its a good use for choppers they got room for plenty of rockets. Or the dude in the door gunner role also works very well
>>
>>570073540
Ka-52's seem to eat shit against them more frequently though, probably a side effect of it being Russia's primary attack helicopter now. Also doesn't have a 360 gun turret like a Hind or Havoc does, unless some recent variants have added one.

Playing AC8.
This game is fun, I enjoy most of it, but holy shit, they just want you to do bombing runs all day every day. I'm on mission 10, and so far, I've only had one dedicated dogfight mission. Everything else was mostly me flying five inches away from the ground and hammering every nail that sticks out. Even in score-based missions, sweeping the floor is more effective because it gives you more points.
At this point, I wish I had an actual goddamn bomber plane, the one that can actually drop bombs vertically, because as far as I'm concerned, enemy planes and SAMs ain't got shit on enemy chimneys.

AC4 is mostly score-attacks with a small few gimmick missions, that's always been the big point of contention around it and you either like it or you don't (and I don't blame you if you don't)
But I'm glad you are enjoying it nonetheless.
>>
>>570090042
I'm pretty sure you guys castrated anyone who would speak ill of 4, why are we even pretending?
>>
>>570090042
Yeah, that's the thing - score-based missions encourage you to bomb the ground because you can spend 30 seconds chasing an enemy plane that gives you 70 points, or you can rain hell on enemy mudhuts that don't move, take 1 missile, and give 50 points each. I wish the game encouraged you to fight others more, because that part is way more fun.

Anyone care to speculate about the whole disembodied cope voice in your head thing? I was thinking that the business guy is probably evil and doing experiments on you by trying to implant ace skill into you or something. He’s also probably from GR and will probably turn on you eventually. I can’t really come up with anything else that makes sense. It’s pretty funny cope is almost like the heart in dishonored with his commentary. The lady antagonist in the wheelchair is also interesting and the obvious answer for her would be coffin stuff. Anyone else have a good theory?

Finished AC4.
Holy shit, that final stage was absolute cinema. The music, the tension, everything. This game really is lightyears ahead of the previous ones in terms of staging. The way you start as a nobody, like in previous games, but by the end, you're so goddamn legendary that the enemies call you the Grim Reaper, and your allies advise each other to lie about Mobius-1 being here to raise morale. Overall, framing the action around an actual tangible conflict gives each battle a lot more tension and meaning that simply wasn't there before. The cutscenes also reminded me of Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket, which was easily one of the best pieces of Gundam fiction ever made.
The gameplay had its flaws. The game focuses on you sweeping the floor until the bitter end, with not a lot of actual air combat until later missions. Some planes and weapons also felt a bit useless, especially air-to-ground stuff - it's much easier to just slow down and mow everything down with missiles than trying to aim bombs. Later weapons are better, but also extremely limited. Basically, I wish there were more variety to the missions and a better weapons system.
But this was definitely the highlight so far. Moving on to AC5.

damn you're fast, not reading the rest due to spoilers but good to know the ending will be kino
I'm still on 3 for now, this game has so many cutscenes, like at least 3 different ones between each mission, its basically like watching an anime
>>
>>570123046
I'm saying this because you'll have to learn how to save ammo for AC04 and ESPECIALLY AC5. Once you're done with AC3, try taking out ground targets with your gun more often. You'll thank me later.
>>570122665
>it's much easier to just slow down and mow everything down with missiles than trying to aim bombs
... You might have a problem with bombs in general. The only bad ones in AC04 are UGBS and SFFS. UGBM has often been my bread and butter in that game. UGBL is excellent, and FAEB is almost always the best option for A2G, no matter the game.
>not a lot of actual air combat until later missions
Funnily enough, Shattered Skies is probably the best furball mission in the entire series.
>>
>>570124083
The cutscenes were apparently made by Production IG, they later worked on GitS:Stand Alone Complex, among many other things. I imagine a ton of money went into them, which is why the sequel used slideshows.
>>570124159
>... You might have a problem with bombs in general.
Maybe I just don't know how to aim them? The reticle feels completely useless because they never land where it points, always overshooting by a big margin. It's easier to just point in a general direction and pray, but if I have to do that, I can just use the missiles.
>Funnily enough, Shattered Skies is probably the best furball mission in the entire series.
Yeah, I remember it, shit was dope.
>>
>>570124651
Here's an example of someone using bombs well on mission 2.
https://youtu.be/Kq3P4QkreQY
>>
>>570125084
Wait, I think I got it. When he aimed the bomb, the reticle focused and went red, but I never saw it do that when I played. I guess I assumed it didn't do that, and you were supposed to use the line pointing downwards as your only guide.
>>
>>570107843

Given that the whole theme is that Rex is a mass delusion I don't think it's related to sublimation or anything technological. I think we've got brain damage from oxygen deprivation from near drowning and we're hearing voices that match what we think we know. Just as we're being created as a myth, we're also creating myths ourself.

I think Dr. Santos will be an important character for this frame and there will be tension between her and D.D. with D.D. wanting to encourage and exploit your delusions to expand the myth of "Rex" and Dr. Santos wanting to help you come back to reality.
Mission 9 semi-spoiler:
Good example of the unreliable narrator effect is ghost-Cope's comments about the white valley team getting wiped out (Presumably Coster's former wingmen/bandmates from Purple Magic). Yet we see him playing with a drummer and a bassist in the first trailer in what is likely a scene from later on in the game. Without knowing the order of events it's difficult to say anything definitive, but I think it's a hint that GhostCope isn't anything more than your own delusions.
>>
>>570122665
>Final stage
Yes that is everyones response the first time they get to that mission. They nailed it perfectly
Since you finished 4 you can try something fun
Take Rafale on mission 2 equip SOD. Once you take out the fighters, AA & SAM's line up a shot and hold down the missile for missile cam. You'll be surprised at just how long the SOD stays active in camera mode. If your recording it allows you to get some cool distance shots

>>570124159

I have to agree DLC #1 is great and a close second but something about this mission you just can't beat.
>>
>>570125423
>When he aimed the bomb, the reticle focused and went red
No, that was his missiles locking on after he had switched back to them.
The actual point of reference you should be aiming with is the dot at the center of the circle.
>>
>>570124159
Personally I've never really liked bomb type weapons in Ace Combat, I've always found it so much easier to just missiles, either the standard or the dedicated A2G ones much, much easier to use and effective, guns are great for ground targets too. Always found it strange how some people praised stuff like UGBLs, I just neved had much success with bombs in general when it comes to AC. Somehow the ones in Nuclear Option feel easier to use, even the non-glide ones.
>>
>>570125423
It went red because the very moment he drops the bomb he switches back to missiles. Your just seeing the missile lock not a bomb lock. Dumb bomb never lock onto anything they just show your drop area. They don't start to turn red until 7
>>
>>570125528
Maybe that's because some characters can live or die based on how well you perform and what you do in missions.
>>
>>570126395
I've heard those lines used in other games and it never effects the main cast just secondary characters that really don't matter beyond you have more or less allies on a mission. Or its those plot point for which route do you want? Save this one for route A or save this one for route B.
I don't expect anything to come of those lines beyond the usual.

Because the later games have bigger, longer and more complex missions on smaller and less detailed maps, that means it's a lot more work to make 3 playthroughs worth of missions including some maps having 2 or 3 different missions in them

OSL is usable when you do one of two things
A rank all missions on hard its permanently unlocked for all planes
Or if you just want to use it at anytime being a PS1 game it has hidden commands to unlock stuff but you'll have do this command for each use
Do this
Pick your plane pick your gun now when move to missiles
Hit and hold Start + button till mission starts
Start + Triangle = OSL
Start + X = Plasma Beam
Start + O = Spread Bomb
Doesn't always register sometime you have to exit mission and try again it can be picky or maybe it was just my controller idk

The original TLS is the default and only gun choice for Night Raven and Geopelia
The PLS is one of the gun choices for R-103, R-102, Remora, & R-211

It could happen you have a legit chance for it to happen this time around.
If online is bigger than infinity it means they'll add a lot of planes if online takes off and keeps going strong for years to come. Every plane you add to online could go over the SP with no issue since its the same game. In theory 8's SP roster could be has huge or larger than Infinity's was depending on how well AC Online does.

Electrosphere's OST is great music and perfect for the setting and story, but it's really, really weird in terms of it being a high-octane air combat game. It's not really something that gets your blood going and it's like that throughout the entire game with the exception of Revelation.

Most of the soundtrack sounds like it belongs in an old Dark5 video.

We'll find out in a couple of months.
She could have had to stay behind to do some solo shoots for a few more days. Or the rest of her team is shot down as they attempt to defend the carrier and finally they could have been killed when the carrier gets attacked before they ever got into the air.

As much as I love the series, I wish it was less stingy with customization.
>AC8 will let you equip 2 SPWs

>still only 3 SPW options per plane
I figure they'd learn their lesson when there's several SPWs in AC7's launch restricted to only 1 plane, or take inspiration from PW or HAWX2 someday.
Reintroducing ACAH's livery color customization would also be nice, but I'd rather they go 1 step further and have generic patterns for all planes mixed with color customization, maybe even highlight layers, really make a plane your own instead of using a historic character's colors, y'know

I also just finished AC4, after promising someone I would finish it 6 months ago. Honestly such a fun game. I mostly used the F-18 for ground missions and the first F-15 for air missions. It felt like the game starting throwing new aircraft for you to buy at the end, but I only bought Su-37 and it handled like a beauty. I started and played the first 3 missions of AC5, I was dominating those aircraft and was able to successful bomb all the ships.

A ton of planes in MSFS are community-sourced, with many imports from Microsoft Flight Simulator X, a game from 2006 that was the pillar of the community for 15 years prior to MS reviving the series. So most of it is not actually all that visually impressive, nor does it have to be. People who play MSFS are in it for the simulation, the visuals are just a nice bonus.
>>570211240
It easily takes the cake when it comes to scale. AC8's not gonna give you the entire procedurally generated Earth, but AC8 looks like it's gonna have way more detail in its maps.

MSFS ground detail is not great because it's just generated from satellite photos, with some foliage and water effects thrown in. If you have ever used Google Earth, you know what it actually looks like up close. This allowed them to copy the entire planet, but actually flying close to the ground ruins the illusion completely. If AC8 maps are handmade, it'll easily beat MSFS.
>>
>>570213140
>what the hell was the point of this?
On paper, launching a plane from anywhere where you could park a trailer, ideally in an innocuous and concealed spot that wouldn't be targeted by a first strike.
In reality, launching a plane from anywhere where you could park a big, expensive, unwieldy, oversized trailer and also happens near enough to a normal airfield that you can land normally.
Then STOL and VTOL came around, and ZELL went away.
Still cool as fuck to look at, though.

No, DCS and Microsoft FS look better. DCS has superior plane mdoels and cockpits, MSFS has superior environments and lighting.
I guess if you want to be pedantic those are more sims than games so AC8 would be the best looking game. Although I'd say nowadays even War Thunder has absolutely top tier plane models.

It also didn't help that a place where you can park a big launching system for a rocket is also a good place to park a big launching system for SAMs, and you don't have to keep a fully-suited guy in the cockpit for hours on end with the latter.

Controversial Opinion: I would rather have plane parts that actively upgrade aircraft into different one models, instead of an aircraft tree full of planes that are largely similar but with small differences in model and armament. This would allow for more planes.

Playing AC5.
Man, this game really starves you for missiles. You have to learn how to shoot them real slow and steady, or you simply won't have enough for the entire level. Takes me back to the original arcade Air Combat.
>>
>>570224384
>you mean things like analog throttle control instead of either no throttle or full burner?
isnt this entirely dependent on hardware
like you cant have analog control on a MKB setup
>>570226586
how would that allow for "more planes"
>>
>>570226586
The limiting factor for planecount is not the UI or some arbitrary limit, it's the work that goes into creating super detailed 3D models.
>>
>>570227194
>how would that allow for "more planes"
An example: Instead of a million F-15s and 16s you would have one which you could put together to create different block rollouts, this would save space on the aircraft tree, allowing for more planes without having a huge tree you need to zoom out to see fully, like in 7.
>>
>>570227334
Also, according to PA, the number one thing licensees care about is model accuracy. Slapping a generic set of canards on the F-15E and calling it an "SMTD" would be a no-go.
>>
>>570227651
I know it's probably not an option for a larger company like Bamco but I wish they'd just project wingman it with fakereal planes they can do whatever the fuck they want with. Still sell real planes and livery as DLC if they want, I just wish the vanilla stuff wasn't so limited. Gunpods for everyone, please.
>>
>>570227510
See
>>570227334
>>
>>570227817
limits are important
if every plane got gunpods, there would be zero reason to use an attacker since speed and mobility will always trump armor
>>
>>570227857
Why not a drop down tree for blocks then? You hold a key on a plane it gives you a tree within a tree.
>>
>>570228483
Attackers could get stronger gunpods, like the HGPs in PW. Or maybe even do something silly and increase the GAU-8 rate of fire.
Gunpods are such a plug and play piece of equipment that they should work on every plane because there's no real datalink nonsense to worry about. Just binary shoot/noshoot and angling for the appropriate convergence point.
>>
>>570228483
Each of the 4 archetypes should have unlockable arms that apply to the entire archetype. Unironically. With certain planes still excluded due to being test craft with very specific load-outs so you can't just put PLS on every attacker.
>>
>>570228558
I mean you could, to clean up the UI a bit. Wouldn't really help increase the total plane count because UI is not the limiting factor.
>>
>>570203992

>>
>>570228789
To a degree, I agree. More advanced planes should get more advanced versions though. 8AGM instead of 4AGM, two LASM instead of one, etc.
>>
>>570222393
Why? Its played perfectly for at least 6 years if not longer. 6 I can understand as Xenia still has a lot of issues. Infinity also makes sense as you just couldn't play it period till now. But any other AC game is just a waste of time when they all play perfectly on existing emus. What is his reasoning behind this?
>>
>>570222273
I think a bigger problem is the dev being a total retard with no intentions to communicate. We could be getting branching missions again which would make a "true" number a bit wonky. Looking back at previous games Project Aces tends to enjoy having different "A/B" missions depending on player choice, like how in 5 you could listen to Chopper's Song, Zero had Ace Style and briefing selection, 2 had hidden missions based on optional targets/aces, etc.
