what killed D2 for you?for me it was the gradual erosion of the mysterious sci fi/fantasy atmosphere and lore in exchange for marvel style slop where an enormous cast of 1 dimensional characters were assembled to all fight against an uninteresting and bland villain. I miss the days when it was humanity fighting for every inch, trying to survive, and the bad guys felt varied, and like they had their own objectives and plans rather than just being witness' slave #14. I also absolutely hated grinding power level each season and getting a nice set of armor only for Bungie to change how armor stats work (again) so I have to farm another one.

It would've been cooler if we got to actually be offered some kind of choice or conundrum about darkness vs light, which is what Beyond Light seemed to be leading up to, but that went out the window for some reason. I unironically prefer the subclasses/buildcrafting pre rework when we got the small tree and didn't build our own classes. The season shit was mostly ass, and I usually just played it for the story and the exotics, which were usually also ass. Getting an exotic used to feel special and I have fond memories of searching for Xur with my brother or working hard for days to complete an exotic quest and being super exited to try out the new gun when I got it. Now there are a billion of them and most of them are power crept or stupid to begin with. I really wish they'd brought back Leviathan/Red War/Old destinations for the final update. It would've cost nothing and been so nice to have the parts of D2 that I found the most fun back again, but it isn't surprising they didn't bother.On the one hand I like Marathon and want it to become a good game but on the other I have zero faith in Bungie after the last 3 years of garbage.
