No flyers editionThe Wheel has turned once againDominions is a fantasy turn-based war game created by two dudes. One of them is a teacher. The game combines a simple presentation with an extremely wide array of strategic options, including over 3400 units, 1100 spells and 400 magic items. Turns are resolved simultaneously, with players planning battles rather than directly controlling them. It has simplistic graphics but is easily moddable and extremely deep.Basically, it's an autist’s wet dream of a war game.>Our pastebin (extremely outdated)https://pastebin.com/wjbSA98Y>Steamgrouphttps://steamcommunity.com/groups/vanheimageofvidya>Multiplayer guide/game hosting services>Hinaserver https://arch.b4k.dev/vg/thread/548312356/#548526452https://hinaserver.net>Blitzserverhttps://blitzserver.net(Dom 6)https://beta.blitzserver.net/games>Llamaserver:https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1212948582>Documentationhttps://illwinter.com/dom6/docs.html>Tools>Mod inspectorhttps://larzm42.github.io/dom6inspector/>Wikihttps://illwiki.com/>Pretender calculatorhttps://zollqir.github.io/pretenders-dom6/https://caleb-distributive.github.io/pretenders-dom6/ (website down?)>Debug modhttps://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3083231618>Communion fatigue calculator (still dom5)https://instacalc.com/53495>Automatically prevent starts in all provinces with less than X connections (still dom5)https://nixx.is-fantabulo.us/dom5ranmapnos/>How do I change the fonts?Replace guifont.ttf, guifont_fancy.ttf and guifont_texty.ttf in the game's 'data' folder (C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Dominions6\data)>Fan arthttps://thronebooru.booru.org>Sloop’s Comfy Balance Modhttps://docs.google.com/document/d/1zeDyK8Zb_p4lIJ0yp3a3ikMprRkmBCWvy31_4jBen3Q/edit?usp=sharing>other asynchronous strategy gamesSolium Infernum.Previous Pantokrator>>569054072
I like thinking about playing this game more than I like actually playing it
Who are the best mercs and who are the worst? For me best is Shipwreckers. Best get into water free cardWorst is Urgek Beast Bros. I don't care how cheap they are they are garbage
I wish illwinter made forests actual forestsmy N7 titan of the forest should not be fighting out in a fucking clearing they literally want to work with trees and be surrounded by trees
>>570351527Big fan of Helmut's SappersThe commander has the Master Mason trait so you can upgrade your forts even with normally not able to.Second would be Dagan. He's cheap as hell and gives a very nice boost in research, especially if he appears early on.
>>570353683I'm kinda hoping thats the next big step if dom 7 happens. More varied and detailed battle terrains. The assasination battles in pubs and bedrooms is a good start, relative to the pace illwinter works at.It would have to be done carefully though, we can already see how big a deal going through the gate of a fortification is, a forest for example with many chokepoints could get very annoying
>>570355097>a forest for example with many chokepoints could get very annoyingVery annoying for nations that dont deal with forests well is exactly my pointThink how the roman legion felt about forests during their campaigns to the north
>>570355742Yeah I get why you'd want it, but just imagine fighting into fucking Asphodel for a moment. You'd need to provide more tools to deal with the problems it would create.I do think there is a much better middle ground than how it currently is too though
>>570356068we already have the structure for terrain changeMore map changing mechanics would be cool
>>570356068But imagine casting fire stormTreehuggers in shambles
Where the fuck is Man's abandoned capital and who the fuck is eating it for free?I need THREAT reports
>>570353683coe already has much more going on in the battles, but yes expanding on it would be very cool. marshy areas in swamps that slow you down, ravines or cliff faces on mountain provinces that block pathing, being able to set an entire forest on fire, ect
>>570356068It would at least do some good work weakening the retarded sacred heavy cav meta we have going on nowIf you can't unleash a full 100 strong cav lance charge then maybe they'd be forced to think of something more than 'unga bunga line formation attack rear'
Battlefields with BridgesBattlefields with (Slave) MarketsBattlefields with WellsBattlefields with GrovesBattlefields with DocksBattlefields with Brothels
>>570369391>Battlefields with Brothels>200 Mynads clawing your dick off
>>570358848I think that's Naba, but cannot be certain. Do you know which province Man's cap was? I don't have a province count, but Naba could be well over 25 provinces while hitting the foreign rec button hard. Meanwhile I'm over here with a respectable 16 provinces and Naba thinks I'm the threat. Yeah ... I've won a bit as Phlegra here and there ... but fucking camels man, they are the "desert snowball".
>>570350576That's why we do a turn a day:)
Truly there is no greater pleasure on earth than doing a double
Is the multiplayer in this kinda like heroes 3 where people sit down for a few hours to play, or do you really do only 1 turn a day?
>>570377353really it's more like 1 turn every 2 days, with extensions and as the game goes on the timer increasessometimes they roll fast, but there's always one guy that waits till the last 10 minutes to do their turn in 5.
>>570377640so if i wanted to lets say find a person or two to play for like 10 hours in a day, it's gonna be pretty difficult?
>>570377994Those are called blitzes, where everyone plays out a game in one sitting with a 5-10 minute timer. We used to have them pretty frequently here, but our resident blitzmin's retired and I haven't played in or even seen one here in months. You'd have some luck joining one in the discords as long as you avoid Dominions Nexus (the trooncord).
>>570377994That's a blitz, you all sit down and play a single game over the dayThey're pretty common in the discord channels and the timers are much shorter. Just expect it to be much more 'hell bless suicide bombing' since five minutes a turn truly isn't enough to come up with any real strategy.
>>570351527The ghost ones are neat. Very flexible thanks to being amphibious, perfect endgame raiders.
>>570377353Here's the thing. Turn 1 takes you 2 minutes to do. Turn 80 could take you 3 hours to do, more if you are really autistic
>>570383274Ah
Finally got my praetor
https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/669330/view/679626980701767304free mechabellum weekend
>>570396180How's it?
>>570403845It's like dominions if there were no spells and it was just buying units and positioning them properly. with some RNG cards that shake things up
If the admin is here I might need an extension. I'm about to take a nap cause I'm really tired and cant do the turn right now. I'll probably do it when I wake up but there's a chance I sleep through it entirely
>>570404412Is it async tho
>>570362474I thought heavy cav got rekt by the cav split because the heavy cav ends up with like 1 defense due to armor burden.
>>570409979It's a blitz type of game that lasts like 1-2 minutes per round and ends in 10 turns it's just like a singular battle where you add more and more units it doesnt have a base or anything like dominionsBut it's free so you can just try it and see
>>570410005It's not that extreme, but not having much defense isn't important when you're rocking 20 prot.Meanwhile those front line infantry are wasting their attacks on a horse with 22hp and 20prot (maybe more if sacred!) as the rider obliterates them with a 29 damage lance charge, and if sacred, possibly some blood surged melee attacks.
What faction lets me bugmax?
>>570411913Shinuyama has a national summon omukade
>>570411913MA Machaka has a spider summon at Conj4 that gives you 6 for 12N any Sorcerer can cast1/4 Sorcs are N3, allowing for easy Creeping Doom casting as well.
>>570416206Are spiders really bugs? They eat bugs. They're superior
>>570411913Machaka for spiders, EA Xibalba for scorpions, any nature nation for generic bugs.
>like sumerian mythology>uruk units are ugly as FUCK>except the hot inanna pretender>completely missing from late age(?)Time to swallow the pill, i cant judge it purely by looks, hopefully they are easy to play at least?
Nothingburger turn
>>570411913Machaka, duh
SPIDERS ARE ARACHNIDS
>>570422497Ants tho
>>570417930They're who I won with against AI as my first nation, big units are a nice advantage and their mages are good
>>570417930Uruk is not widely considered a super powerful faction, but I think they have a lot of potential. Its not a super difficulty nation to pilot, you have some real pipe swingy infantry, specifically Iron Warriors. Your mages are good, and are a good way to learn the basics of communions since with their size and ability to cast regen communions are pretty easy for them. They can do some funny gimmicks with expendable gods given that they get your god back very easily.
>>570426956Any summon strats?
>>570409972Alright im mainly done no need any more
>>570431112Getting into the water gets you some cool dudes who you can bring out of the water if you make amulets of the fish (your mages have the paths for it natively)Ugallus are nice to have around to cast Fog Warriors and whatnot.Lategame Umu-apkallu are really good mages for their price.
Erzsebet!!!!!
Can’t bloody take me pc with me on holiday and I doubt anyone will want to wait a week for me so I’m offering for some git to take over Black Crag in warhammer_reduxPosition is decent enough so no need to be afraid. Contact here:benelos@proton.me
>>570435670Thanks
warhammermin, i took norsca's cap and 3 different skaven sites spawned there so i can recruit a bunch of stuff. is it because it's a cap so multiple clan sites can exist at once or is this just a bug? i'm leaning towards bug because i also had an eshin assassin there but an eshin den didn't spawn.
>>570441643There's a site limit iirc
>>570442158there is but i haven't reached it. i got the mors barracks because queek was there, and the rictus holdfast because tretch was there. maybe the bug is that if a hero is in the province it can cause multiple of those sites to spawn on the same turn? that's the only thing i can think of
>>570443778Try moving him in and out
>>570444578just so we're on the same page, only 1 of the skaven clans is supposed to be able to be established per fort. the fact i'm getting multiple is, i assume, a bug. i'm not trying to get more of them but trying to figure out why i was able to get more than 1 in this particular fort
I wanna play Jomon LA, is this an insane god to take though and larp underwater with my naginata sacreds expanding down there.Only problem, their iron equipment will rust and can't use their bows. But the God would let me do vengeful water/gale gate which are both Thaumaturgy, ofc anyone with a strong early war would just kill me and R'lyeh would just rape me before I got my dragon thugs out
>>570444712SKAVEN ARE THE THREAT
>>570448504It's much easier and cheaper to just take an amphibious monster to get you safely into water. This build "could" work I guess? I'm not super familiar on expanding with Jomon without a monster. You better have a good plan for using that titan as soon as it wakes up because your neighbours wont have spent 5 bless points on going into the water
Okay hopefully I make the tribute
Gnight domg

>hundreds of different units>different units:Why have dozens of units per nation if they're functionally the same and hard to tell apart?
>>570480383You just need to play more.
>>570480383Some differences are subtle, but they are there. MA Ulm has the issue where their units are pretty samey, but they're not exactly identical. >Two handed weapons Hit hard. Good for when you want to take down high hp targets.>One handed weapons + shields Shields give more protection to a unit and help them against arrows.>Long weaponsCan repel shorter weapons and prevent attacks.>FlailsGet two attacks per round. Great at clearing away chaffy units.
>>570480383the differences become much more important in multiplayerhowever, to your point, there is little meaningful difference between say the hammer+shield and the morningstar+shield or the twohanded axe and the twohanded hammer guysalso with ulm they have doubled up variants because of the medium vs heavily armored versions of each troopUlm is a particularly bad offender
can you play mp with the steamrip version?
>>570480776I haven't played it at all. A guy from Discord with whomst I played nu-Solium Infernum proselytized Dominions to me so much that I started watching tutorial videos by different youtubers.>>570483461>>570486975Well, out of curiosity I checked out stats on the two mace guys (Infantry of Ulm and Black Plate which, I assume, are mid and heavy armored respectively).Black Plate mace guy is 30% more expensive in resources, has 17% more encumbrance and 10% less defense, while having 10% more morale and 20% more protection. Sounds impressively inconsequential to be honest.
>>570491614The difference between 19 and 23 prot can be quite large due to how random numbers are rolled for damage.A unit that hits for say 16 damage on average will almost never hit through 23 prot, but they could hit through 19 prot fairly regularly
>>570486975Hello WMF, may I suggest 20+ and army wide versions of the black crag national spells? (Itchy, burnin, fists of gork)Because not only undisciplined makes it extremely hard to pain on the boyz, they become obsoleted extremely quickly
>>570492236>>570491614Yeah, when I'm fighting an MA Ulm player and see they're just using normal Pikes instead of Blackplate Pikes I let out an audible sigh of relief.19prot vs 23 prot is unironically huge.if any get buffed with Temper Armour (which they should be since you have super easy access to it) it goes up to 26.The vast majority of things cannot damage 26 prot. Ulms basic black plate troops with Temper are damn near invulnerable if the opponent doesn't have access to poison or HUGE damage like Dai Bake
>>570475076Wouldn’t matter. You can trick the mind and even reality, but false damage doesn’t soul slay an immortal so it wouldn’t bypass Soul Scars
Smartest chaos champion in Redux.
>>570491614As the others said, going from 19 to 23 protection is big. it makes them very tanky against regular human troops. 30 to 41 resources is also worth noting. Resources don't carry over between turns, and you can make four halfplate men for every three fullplate. If you're got a fort that's low on resources, choosing the halfplate dudes can help bulk out your armies.

Whats a good bless for LA Agartha? the Sacreds seem cool for early game, but are they worth a bless? many mages are sacreds toothe Sepulcherals also seem cool, but not spammable, so Im not sure if they deserve a bless either? Is LA Agartha maybe better suited with Scales?Does Hardskinn Bless stack with Iron Skin self buff spell?
>>570557034>LA Agarthadid illwinter base this one off of nazi occultism? how are there so many parallels
>>570557278Illwinter takes from everything
>>570557278sadly Nazi occultism was only my minor at Uni... care that fill me in on some details? also some ideas about the bless strat for this nation?
>>570555798I considered it for Sloops buffs to monster and titan pretenders. But the rules of the arena already buff them up by context:>no late game so no reason not to invest harder into the early and mid game>no big expansion so it'll be harder to mass up a response by force>awake fighters will be weaker than dormant or imprisoned fighters with stronger blesses, but can secure a point advantage in the early turns, before magic and magic items start coming into playAdding Sloops would probably skew things too hard towards pretenders single handedly fighting over the arena, and whoever loses theirs will be pretty much out of the fight for a long time, which would be boring. Without Sloops, most people will likely still grab monsters and titans but there's more room for armies to fight.
>>570557278>nazi occultismEven tho Ungern von Stenberg is the one who popularized Agartha through his obsession with the Shambala, which has Buddhist roots.
>>570558505You know this big overlap between MAGA, the Q people a couple years back (cannibal networks under PizzaHuts, more cannibal and alien stuff in secret bases in Antarctica, etc.), and also with a bunch of other nutjobs like flat Earth, Jewish space laser, chemtrails, and the ones who think that trees are bushes and real trees used to be kilometers high but were cut by THEM and dragged away beyond the ice wall long ago and actually mountains are the stumps of what used to be trees? The overlap between conservatives and insane conspiranoia has always been a thing, all the way back to ancient times. The Nazis also had some kind of creepy secret occult club. Documentation about them and what exactly they did, if anything at all, is unfortunately sparse at best, and there's lots of made up shit. The Agartha thing is that some of them believed that the world was actually hollow and there were "people", possibly aliens or an alternative evolutionary path of prehistoric humans, walking upside down below us and coming out to spy on us with their aircraft, which came out of some holes that connected the inside with the outside. The main hole should have been somewhere in the North Pole, and the Nazis did send a bunch of planes to explore and search for it. The plan was to get in there >>> ??? >>> acquire their super advanced technology to make weapons and win the war.Lots of stuff about that is pure fabrication, though. For example, there's reports of submarine expeditions that are obviously fake because submarines during WW2 couldn't do the kind of things the reports claim they were doing. It seems plausible that the Nazis might have sent a couple planes on secret mission to check by order of some particularly culty higher ups (like Himmler himself), but they didn't organize any large scale operations. If you're curious, go ask in /x/. They've got a shitload of documents over there. Lots of fanfiction and fabricated stuff, but also some real maps and shit.
>>570504335Uhh, how exactly does the game determine what order armies arrive on the same province?
>>570558505>>570559732>>570560894also the nazis were constructing their own new religion by combining aspects of german paganism and tibetan buddhism.and the concept of agartha/shambhala comes from tibetan buddhism.tibetan buddhism btw differs a lot from other forms of buddhism and is the opposite of the whole le peaceful buddha stereotype.lightning is a big thing in tibetan buddhism - the SS runes are lightning bolts; "blitzkrieg" meaning lightning war, etc. the SS runes can also be interpreted as the sign of aquarius. aquarius = air = lightning. why is this significant? because there are "astrological ages" (look it up) and occultists believe we are currently in the age of aquarius. this age shifts every couple thousand years. the last one was the age of pisces, also known as the age of sailing (humans explored the world by sailing during this age), the age of aquarius is the age of aviation and communication, see airplanes, telephones, internet, etc.also the black sun symbol has its roots in tibetan buddhism where its called "rahu". i could go on and on.
>>570561336I actually considered making a bigger arena, with 7 provinces in a honeycomb pattern so that there's another strategical element to it, but I didn't know if there would even be any interest in the concept so I didn't bother. I'll get around to making that map if the game turns out well, could be interesting.I have no idea how multiple armies are handled. I've never seen more than 3 people, where obviously one will have to fight two opponents. With a bit of luck the game is smart enough to pair up fresh armies against fresh armies whenever possible.
>>570561336it used to be in order of nation id but iirc it's totally random now

>>570504335I'm trying to put together a pretender for this and I'm fucking puzzled.A big awake pretender and turboblessed sacreds seem like the obvious answer, but I bet there's going to be plenty of unholy weapons around. So maybe tone down the bless and go for more standard army? But still you have to be able to deal with the hordes of turbo blessed sacreds that will also be there. And you'd also be giving up the arena for like half of the game while you build up an army and get some buffs and magic items.Yomi could be very strong because one of their biggest weaknesses, cracking forts open, isn't a concern. But how well do dai oni perform against a shitload of greatsword of sharpness wielding sacred thugs with unholy weapons? On the other hand, the classic counter of mass cleansing water casters will be a lot less effective, because people can't just gear up to hard counter you specifically without opening up themselves to getting wrecked by everyone else. What resistances do you even get? You can't possibly protect against everything. And if you try, someone going hard into something might still get through.Decisions, decisions

Mother Oak says its increasing Growth by 2 in the province its cast in. I did cast it like 10-20 turns ago, in a game with SCBM and by now virtually all of my massive number of provinces, 40-50% of the game map, have 2 more growth then I initially had. Is the bug the +2 growth in ALL my Provinces, or the description of MOak?
>>570617408>Where could I find this discord to play with other shitters? Most of the discords crosspost game recruitment ads to each other so you'll end up in most of them, and noob games are pretty common. You'll probably want to avoid Dominions Nexus (it's the trooncord whose owner has an explicit agenda) but can't go wrong starting with dominions game hub and clockwork hounds (Lucid's server is also good but is the tryhard tourney place). You could also just hop into games here. The average /domg/ vet is less of a noob and more of an unmotivated deadbeat, so as long as you're putting in the effort to learn and optimize you should place decently in no time.

>>570621473Getting to 4 or 5 in a scale tends to have that spread; if you were growth 3 before casting MoaK its quite possible for growth 4 to spread across a large portion of your land. Growth and misfortune also tend to create events that increase those scales, so if you had a few events pushing you to growth 5 in a few provinces those can semi-sustain themselves.

>>570691037Hmm
>>570647858I considered that first, but thing is, putting in a fort might actually be advantageous if you have strong PD.I foresee that people will quickly learn to be cautious and not go all in. A good PD dump might cause some people to splat against it. The three points rule is not particularly invasive, but it gives a reason why someone might want to drop one and try to defend it, and why someone would also want to risk getting in to break it instead of simply sieging it.>>570648603I've had the idea for years. I'm looking to try out a glamor heavy nation for the first time, but I dunno what the important research points are. Like how death magic would want ench 5 for skeles.I guess twilight is important in alteration? What else are you really after?
>>570838285A bit dependent on your nation and available crosspaths. Glamor is a very strong buffing path and a pretty good late game evo path. A few breakpoints to look for, IMO. This isn't every good spell, but a few I think are really valuable:Combat Spells:Mirror Image for thugs at Alt 2Group Blur at alt 3Twilight at Alt 5Warrior Illusion at evo 2Dance of Ephemeral Swords (very good selfbuff) at evo 3Cloud of Dreamless Slumber at evo 3 (requires air)Ephemermal Blast at evo 4Illusory Army at evo 5False Horror at evo 6Wailing Winds at Evo 7 (requires air)Shroud of Splendor at ench 2, requires fireHorrible Visage at ench 3, requires deathPersonal Luck at thaum 1Luck at thaum 3Legion's Demise at thaum 9Rituals:Fay Prince at Conj 6, requires water or natureGnome at conj 6, requires earth, gets you natureFae Court at 8, requires nature or waterProject Self at evo 5 (requires astral)Simulacrum at ench 6Dreams of the Awakening God at thaum 9Overall, I'd suggest going down alt/ench for thugging, alt/evo for general battle mages, and conj for some of the best summons to break into new paths.

>>570930827I don't even see what's difficult about communions. One mage casts master, two cast slave, master can now cast at +1 levels and wont fatigue out as fast. Ez
>>570931332Yeah but sometimes it's worth sacrificing your slaves for more masters. Or you can do turbo communions with specialty slaves. It's not hard to grasp the basics, but reading the situation so you only lose as many slaves as necessary can be tricky, as can getting the most you can with the resources you have.
>>570931651Speaking of turbo communions, I was considering an Uruk build that has the Regen blessAll your mages are sacred, and then any N1 can cast Person Regen as a master giving them 20%. Your S1N1s have 24hp, enlarged (also easily cast) it bumps to ~32, giving +6hp regen/turn. 6 masters/2 slaves should be completely viable here aye?
>>570932947It'd be more easier to just slap 5 reinvig and have a mage cast regen + enlarge
>>570932947Try reinvig + enchanted blood.
>>570932947No, you will burn out the slaves with that masters. All the more quickly when you account for the afflictions they will collect reducing their health and fatigue recovery (although, 20% regeneration will reduce the rate of afflictions). If you just want to get a handful of specific spells off then fine but if that is the case then you do not need the regen bless for which you are paying a lot. Just accept that you are going to burn the slaves out and if you want them to last longer then cast the regen spell on them. Now, if a regeneration bless is vital to your expansion and overall sacred strategy then you can make use of it in your communions but taking a regeneration bless to make a turbo communion is probably not a good idea.

If I'm going Scales build do I want to crank my dominions as high as possible (8-9) or is like, 6-7 perfectly fine?
>>570972131Do you need to mass your sacreds? If not then you do not need a lot of dominion strength.
>>570972131The other question is do you need to build out temples naturally to get your mages, if so then you can get away with lower dominion as you will naturally have more dominion spread. Its rarely worth it to pay for more dominion besides sacreds until the later game when dominion based globals (dark skies, vengeful waters, etc) become impactful; an exception can be early blood hunting for a reduction in unrest and assassination attempts. If your nation has recruitable H2s to preach that also lets you get away with lower Dominion, but I'd keep it above 5 if your pretender isn't awake to ensure at least decent early spread.
>>570972131bigger number = better
I AM LEARNING, yes my goddess now has a blessing or whatever they are called, not sure if it disappears if she dies (Giant growth or something on all sacreds)
>>570972131Depends if you can use all those sacred points or not. Anything higher than 8 is extreme af and costs a lot of designer points. You can raise it with temple spam to 10 anyway I dont think it goes higher

>>570924756The Japan nations are all pretty radically different, aside from access to most of the same summons.Yomi has garbage troops but also freespawn, and the Dai Oni has a very solid argument for being the single best recruitable mage in the game and can carve through armies on their own, Shinuyama has really good (though expensive) troops and a pretty varied mage lineup capable of buffing said troops very well, with the Bakemono Sorcerers also capable of acting as something of a discount Dai Oni if you're willing to invest in a bless for them.Jomon really wants to beeline to the water for sharks and dragons, and has very different magic paths than the other two, playing a bit closer to Tien Chi with extremely wide paths and expensive but useful communion access.

>>570986485TC's fun, you can convert almost every gem type into a sacred summon in EA.
>>570974726Pretenders always have their blessing unless they're outside of their own dominion. It's worth noting Enlarge is always active on sacred units without anybody even casting bless, so you get increased mapmovement and everything else on sacreds outside of combat too.
>>570990783Nah, let me choke on mud until i scream for help
>>570990331How do i find out the port number?
>>570988032Yes it's a pretty big layer because people can bait the gem usage in a magic phase battle and then when your armies collide in a normal phase battle the gems will be gone, wiping your army out. This is why there are usually mods that keep gems for an entire turn before disappearing or lucid's thematic gem generating items that you stick on your mages with temporary gems

>>570995565You may want to practice expanding with your build in singleplayer first if you don't like getting stomped quickly. The first dozen turns are considered the expansion phase where everyone focuses on conquering independents and forming borders with each other in the process, and if you mess up here and are small and weak you'll likely be seen as food and unable to learn much else from that lobby. Expanding is the most foundational skill to learn due to this.A good starting target to try for is having 15 provinces by turn 12, and you get there by practice runs in SP to learn how much abuse your troops can take and which indies are good and bad matchups for you.
>>570996094I dont think you can really, it just shows up in the selection screen if they have those summons. They're sprites nearby the pretender.

>>571031424They do need some finesse to use well, but they are solid.Massable magic weapons is almost always amazing to have. Big air magic fucks hard if you get your research too
>>571031424they're the weakest of the 3 caelums yeah but they're still a decent nation. your strategic map movement is amazing with everything being a flyer and having recruitable anyfort troops with magic weapons is great. MA caelum loves summoning yetis, they're great high hp lineholders with a chill aura to bulk out your frontline
>>571031424Play Nazca instead.
When people say 'you should have a fort completed by year 1' are they saying turn 12, or turn 9 when the first year starts?
>>571039937You will almost never have a fort completed by turn 9. 99% of the time you wont even have enough gold to start a fort on turn 3.Usually you try to start your first fort somewhere around turn 5-9. Earlier is better, but its not better if it significantly slows down your expanding. Some nations don't need to do this since they have foreign recruits that dont need a fort, but theyll want to soon after anyway.
>>571040889That's what I thoughtNot the new guy with the naked pretender, but someone trying to learn expanding without crutching an awake monster via Uruk and man, the 1200 cost their forts require is bonkers. I'm taking to labbing forests instead and spamming the any recruit enkidus but that's super limited by res.I have noticed these dudes are pretty baller though despite being so basic. Placed all the way back and set to hold fire, even if indies reach them they have a 17 damage piercing attack with 24hp and 10prot.
>>57104350810 protection is dog water, especially without a hat and shield.Their attack ia bleh but their melee damage ia decent for an archer unit.
>>571046561They aren't that good for expanding, but they take buffs really well. They are like a mini dai bakemono in that they can form a solid line in front of the mages and sit there getting buffed for 6+ rounds
>>570561809>With a bit of luck the game is smart enough to pair up fresh armies against fresh armies whenever possible. You're the 'min, test that shit so it's not just an endurance test for whoever's the guy that holds the arena first.
>>571047238Whoever holds the arena at the start of a turn is absolutely going to have to fight every challenger if they want to keep holding it
>>570991056This is why I ask :)>>571043508The 1200 cost is actually a lie in both directions and a bit more complicated than thatA standard fort costs 1000 gold + 5 turns, and then upgrading it so you can recruit a mage every turn costs an extra 600 gold and 3 more turnsBUTUruk has expensive 900 gold temples and the fort mages are all sacredSo whilst Uruk has to pay 2400 gold to get their magepriest recruitment going, it does come online in a shorter amount of timeWhilst on average a nation only has to pay 1900 gold to get the same benefits, but in an 8 months time rather than the 5 that uruk has to deal withUruk also have E1N2 shamans to mitigate that a bit and only needs a 600 gold lab in any unforted provinceOn an unrelated note im going to try to make my no fun allowed 6 + 1 UW + 1 UG wheel of time map again with a variety of terrains and back passages again
Newbie here, this should be good enough to turbo buff my units without needing to do much else, right?
>>571053839Forgot to add:Yes i just checked every bless and put the ones that said "All sacreds/automatically activates" because i am dummy
>>571053839If you're planning to use this on Uruks sacreds, larger is bad because it bumps them from 3 to a square to 2 which is a significant downgrade. They have formation fighter so would normally fit 3 to a square, but larger ruins that.
>>571053839Larger is a little bit anti synergy for Uruks sacreds. The stats are nice, but enlarging them means they only fit 2 to a square instead of 3, making them harder to buff with your mages, and lowering the amount of attacks per square they can do.Undreaming is borderline useless (highly niche), better off with another point in heroism.True sight is ok, but this depends entirely on who you are fighting. Strong blood is a good choice for your mages and troops, since Uruk can do poison magic.Since every one of your bless choices are non incarnate, you might as well imprison that god too. Uruk really wants BIG scales to pump out shitloads of iron warriors
>>571054115>them from 3 to a square to 2 which is a significant downgradeHow bad we talking about here?>>571054263>True sight is okSome illusion horses killed all my troops yesterday and i am still uppity about it>you might as well imprison that god toothen i take too long to get the buffs, no?>Uruk really wants BIG scales to pump out shitloads of iron warriorsWhat do people mean when they say "scales"? productivity sloth and all that stuff?
>>571053839Here's one I threw together, loosely based on what you seem to be trying to do.Uruk likes to win fights by outlasting with their beef, particularly with their communion mages. This gives staying power both to your mages and troops and gives you fat scales to make plenty of meaty troops
>>571054687>then i take too long to get the buffs, no?Nah if a bless has (incarnate) next to its name its only active when the god is awake. If it doesn't say that then it's active no matter what
>>571055270Oh, thats what i means? i assumed it was that only the pretender got said buffs>>571055103Gonna try out both and see what happens, thank you
>>571055827>>571055103If you want to add more non incarnate blesses to this build you could totally take away a few points from growth/luck/magic.You could fit in more utility blesses like true sight or elemental resistances which are also very nice for uruk. Or even just go even harder on reinvig.I wouldn't suggest going into death drain or misfortune scales though unless you think you have a good reason to do so
>>571055827Blesses affect every unit with the sacred tag. In Uruk's case that would be Maiden of the Moon and every single one of your mages except for Enkidu Shaman and Kulullu Sage, and I believe most of your unique summons as well. But units with the sacred tag need to have Blessing cast on them by a mage with at least Holy 1, or Divine Blessing by a Holy 3, to activate said bless buffs.
Attempt number three
what kind of game is this, is there sex, is there sloppa
>>571058224This is somehow much worse lol.Death scales are a nono unless you are going to play hyper aggressive (this usually means a massive awake incarnate bless at least).Half dead and mending bones don't make it worth it, since they wont help you actually win a fight, and the benefit is quite small otherwiseAlso I'm sorry to say but that pretender is one of the worst options in the game, and its extremely expensive to add magic paths to it compared to a statue or a tiny human god.It is a good idea to have a god for uruk that can move and join fights though, since Uruk has bonuses to recalling a dead god.
>>571058724
>>571058224Nigga were you listening?Scales. Uruks big thing are the Iron Warrior badasses and all of your very strong, high HP and sturdy sacred astral mages.A wall of Iron Warriors protecting communioned S mages spamming Enslave with max reinvig and bonus pen is true power.
>>571059363>>571058859SORRY
>>571059363Yeah there's 2 main schools to Uruk strategy as I see it.You maximize iron warrior production scales and and get a decent mage bless like you are describing.Or you compromise scales a little and get a combat god and a thug bless like a classic waifu of love and war. Scales + mage bless is the better build imo, but thug bless is more fun. This way takes more practice to expand with, but it's doable.

>>571061979that's pretty decent then.for me at least, the funnest part is when i'm just figuring out the game. once you figure out how to win, it's just execution, that's kind of uninteresting.
>>571063657I couldnt be bothered checking the path levels for the national summons. I knew it was air/earth though. Only put E3 here for the bonus 3 natural protection.I personally would rather hedge my bets with more prod/order and a dormant titan, since she is very risky to use in expansion without gear and research. I would consider taking misfortune for more magic scales too though.I've tested expansion before with 3 points between order/prod and its very doable, though not braindead.

>>571053839I genuinely forgot Undreaming existed as a bless
>>571054687>How bad we talking about here?Attack density is pretty important. Every attack targeted at a given unit per turn gives it an escalating defense penalty (harassment), and having less dudes per square both means you harass enemies less and your dudes get harassed more, since there's less people per square to divide the attacks between.Larger is still a very powerful bless, mind you, it's a ton of HP and strength for the cost and comes with free mapmove too, but it's situational. Size 4 and size 6+ dudes really like it, though, they're only losing 1 point of defense while retaining the same density.
>>571073607I have tried it jesus christ. It's not even about the recruitment points its about gold. I never said taking her dormant makes your expansion better. It makes the rest of your game betterYou just want to argue about your waifu.

>>570988032Five more gotchas of this topic:>mages will use gems to reduce their casting fatigue. Click "conservative gem usage" to increase the chance they don't blow their gems before they have to use them>magic gems can be used to boost a mage's level in that path. But a mage can only boost himself one by one level this way, AND a mage can only spend as many gems in a single spell as their actual casting level. So an E3 mage can use an earth gem to cast an E4 spell - but not the E4 spell Earthquake, because it already costs 3 gems to cast, so they're unable to use that fourth one to boost themselves up>this "spend one gem to boost yourself up" does not apply to blood magic>mages will follow their script even if they fall unconscious due to fatigue from casting spells. They'll simply continue the scripted orders once they wake up>mages will immediately abandon their script if anything stops them from following it, like trying to cast a spell where valid targets are out of range. Sometimes you might want to tell your mages to apply a buff or whatever else in the first turn before they start blasting evocations to make sure that the enemy has time to come within range>despite significant improvements to casting AI over the years, it's still fucking trash. Do not trust your mages to do anything useful if they're not properly scripted. Doubly so if you have a few certain spells like star fires, web, or summon skeleton researched, which mages fucking love to cast for some reason Be happy, astral mages used to spam blink until they teleported in the middle of the enemy and got killed

>>571083070Don't take it too autistically, we just mean you should try out the expansion phase a couple times so you figure out how to expand halfway efficiently with your nation of choice before the match starts. That way you can get a bit of a feeling for what is too many troops (= you expand too slowly with one large army instead of sending out a second, third, etc. army) or too few (= you loose too many troops) for an expansion army, and whether you can do some middle of the ground approach. For example, some nations do well with multiple small armies that expand rapidly but take rather heavy losses, but you can capture provinces in such an order that you can merge the armies after 2-3 provinces and send the leftover commanders back to the capital to bring new troops out.Or to test out the effect of quickly capturing your cap circle vs going straight for near chokepoints to "secure" provinces and leaving gaps in your cap circle so the later expansion parties don't waste any turns retreading ground. Also to figure out and avoid some classic blunders, like getting wrecked on barbarian or heavy cavalry provinces, or doing something stupid with your troops (like a Sauromatia or Pythium player correctly noticing that hydras are great, but not noticing that the rest of the nation is NOT poison resistant and everyone has a big tendency to bunch up when pursuing routing enemies so you can easily lose most of an expansion force to your own hydra's poison cloud after the battle has already been won).As that anon said before, a game can go for months. Might as well not blunder the fuck out of the first 15 turns before you even start fighting other players. However, the arena game has some special rules (>>570504335) so all that barely matters because we won't be competing for territory
>>571081864FUCK YOU FOR NOT LETTING ME DROWN EVERYONE
>>571086103Anon the drown spell just kills 50% of a coastal province's current population. Casting it twice means 75% of the original pop die. Choose nations as you see fit. Cool factor is the best motivator.

I don't recommend it.>MAAll good picks, though maybe I would leave freespawn for later personally. Interesting but unreliable nation (unless you're playing SCBM).Lemuria's freespawn ghosts are kind of terrible because of spiritform, R'yleh has insanity. Both freespawn nations with very weird quirks, I'd pass personally.I don't like Utgard. >>571175978>So Lemuria is dogshit? It's alright early on, unless you're against someone with magic weapons like Atlantis, in which case you're completely fucked.Unfortunately you can't really buff your ghosts for shit so they scale very badly. At most you can give them mistform, which requires a communion and an air random grand lemur to be cast natively, but that still won't do anything against nations with magic weapons. The only other option when it comes to buffs is going the glamour route but you will have to prepare for it on your pretender.Consul thugging is still quite strong though. Also yeah Fire Storm wipes your entire army so you better have some way to cast fire res every battle. Again, communion + water random grand lemur to cast it natively, or prepare your pretender to break into fire somehow.
>>571175978No lemuria is good and the ghosts are great for expansion. They rely more on their big mages and consul thugs as the game progresses, the ghosts transition from good expanders into meat shields and fort anchors. Even if they are dying by the boatload to battlefield wipes they just need to stand around long enough to get a couple wind of death or bone grinding or whatever off You do get an absolute fat load of them like every freespawn nation so at some point if you survive getting gang banged early you will just be throwing millions of ghosts at anything that moves without much thought behind it
>>571178764Lemurias problem is that Atlantis is in every LA game, and if not Atlantis then Caelum.Recruitable magic weapons ends them well before their mages can do anything battle winning. The buffs nerf hurt them pretty bad going to dom 6, but the magic weapons bless nerf helps them a bit too. I almost never see anybody take magic weapons bless anymore and it used to be extremely popular

>>571182529Oceania is one of the most neglected nations in the game, just because. They will always be worse Pangaea
>>571161518Asphodel has a small chance to spawn a reanimator priest in a (templed?) forest, but you can just summon them using nature gems.I think you should try to focus on a couple of nations and try to use all the resources at your disposal to counter whatever bullshit you come across in your MP games. That said I've only ever played the same nation across multiple games a couple of times since I'm a retard that way

>>571191512you bullying my ally is not fun, but I am very happy to know you survived into the mid-late game, R'lyeh and are being a proper thorn in everyone's side. I do believe this was possible only because you have the giant ocean to retreat to, but regardless, 38 star children besieging Ind's Capital is proof of the game going very well for you.
>>571193395Conquest of Elysium is far more predictable because of this. Caster level in magic determines how many spells of that school they can cast and you can even pick which ones they will cast and nothing else.In Dominions once the script is done it's lol, lmao.
>>571193668The ocean was massive and I warned the host before it started to not give me a huge lake but he didnt listen. The real reason I started going crazy with globals is that I got that throne of creation which is a ring of magic basically +1 to all paths you have

So, is it worth to outfit normal commanders in armor and shit? i assume the only purpose of construction is to outfit pretenders or your mages?
>>571198949wait, anon, the wiki?no build or guide on there is updated for dominions 6, it's all fully outdated as all the major mechanics (blesses, units, etc) have all completely changed. do NOT use them or you're just setting yourself up for failure
>>571194508You can make educated guesses on what mages will do off script.Death 2 mages will almost always spam horde of skeletons or animate dead off script.Mages tend to be high on fatigue by the end of their script too, so you can assume they wont be casting any spells that cost 100 fatigue or more, like earthquake
>>571201804i assume this is bad?
>>571201946It's not that big a deal for a nooby learning singleplayer. Most info on the wiki is still good for learning the game.
Uh,do i need to remake the pretender if joining the Arena game? i see it has a caster AI mod now when it didnt before
>>571202026It's not an ideal build. That pretender is good for Uruk though. I wouldnt stress too much about the details at this point especially in singleplayer. Just don't blindly rip builds from the wiki for multiplayer purposes later on.
>>571202026it's kinda good actually but youll need to stack some armor items on your pretender to make full use of itpoison resist is nice for your sacreds when you start spamming poison spells. Hard skin
>>571200938Construction also unlocks a few nice spells.Regarding commanders and items, there's generally two sorts of commander: the few that are very strong and can easily solo small armies or at least typical amounts of PD by themselves with just a bit of investment, and the large majority that are simply not strong enough to be wanking around the frontlines. The strong kind performs a lot better with some equipment. The weaker ones simply aren't really worth any investment. There's some exceptions, though. If you're swimming in gems, it can be interesting to craft a few ranged weapons to hand them so they've got something to do. And sometimes you want to give coral swords (+8 HP) or some armor to particularly important ones. Usually mages, specially those you're using to cast ritual spells. Most normal commanders are barely worth the gold they cost, let alone magic stuff.>>571198949History is, more or less, real. Bias of whoever wrote it aside.Legends are bullshit. But myths are neither real nor lies. There's some truth to them, and some made up embellishment. Usually you can barely tell where the truth ends and the story begins. And with time, the embellishments added by every teller end up becoming part of the myth too, and the truth gets muddier and muddier. That's the general state of Dominion's rules. Even the developers aren't really sure how a lot of stuff works anymore.Consider the wiki a helpful myth. Decent orientation. Much better than nothing. But don't just believe every word you read.>>571202789That mod only affects casting AI. It doesn't change anything regarding pretender costs, so no need to remake them. Would be different if it was some rebalancing mod like Sloops, though

>>571203909Pretty sure this has been fixed or largely mitigated in vanilla now
>>571203729The wiki isn't giving you bad info, its just outdated.99% of the game mechanics are still the same.None of the wiki builds would be so bad you cant use them in singleplayer either. You dont need to worry about getting perfect builds at this point.

>>571226170Uh, MA Ulm is 6th place, funny for a anti magic fact to do well
>>571226470Asphodel entered OP territory going into 6. Their new free spawn sacred, the Carrion Fury, is retardedly good and obliterates Gods. Did it hit? Congrats, it just gained 20 fatigue, and absolutely nothing stops it (literally, it's completely unavoidable if the hit lands, it's bonkers) so 10 of them can kill a fully kitted late game god by themselves with no bless. But if you do bless them, giving them fire and shock res makes them immune to 95% of the things in the game as well. The free spawn is nice as well if your opponents don't know how to counter undead swarms that also often have better MR than other undead.
>>571226870Well, fuck me, guess i am just gonna regress to playing undead guys like in ElysiumEA ThedorosMA Ermor/AsphodelLA LemuriaAm i missing any other fact with "free" armies? >>571227363Also, i see EA Pangea has a free summons guy, i really need to write down this stuff or figure out how to search it instead of inspecting every single faction one by one blindly
>>571218537There's a lot that can be said about fort placement, but generally:Forts suck up resources from surrounding provinces, so building a few next to each other will reduce output for all of them.It can be a good idea to fort choke-points so the enemy is tied up on them.A fort can be bult by any commander, while a lab needs a mage and a temple needs a priest. Putting down buildings is a good job to give to weaker commanders so your big mages and priests can focus on important things.Always fort thrones. Not really fort related, but keep an eye on the indie mages you can recruit. Most aren't that great, but even having a few N1 guys running around doing things can be great if you lack nature. On a related note, sages are great. If you get a province with them, pump them out for great research.
If a faction has access to blood magic, should i assume its their best way to play? Example EA/MA Pangea>>571228987Oh, gonna keep that in mind for my next game, seems reasonable considering i never managed to take an enemy fort
>>571229940>best way to playnot necessarily, blood could be anything from mandatory and nation defining to a nice little extra you came with, but you generally shouldn't ignore it if you have it>EA/MA Pangeathey lie somewhere in the middle I'd say
>>571232884Ah shit, i saw a bull that could summon maenads and wondered if i could build a strategy around feral naked ladies spam, but their stats do look awful
>>571234346maenads are an extra. blood pans/pandemoniacs are used as bloodhunters, thugs, flesh eater crafters or for small sabbaths to cast big shit in battleyou can climb all the way to high blood from B3 so you just need to either luck into it or empower a B2
I literally cannot tell the difference between EA Pangea and its MA counterpartBeside the lack of dryad mother titties, but thats about it?
>>571235689Some troops are a bit more armored, Pandaemoniacs offer more reliable Blood.
>>571236026Understandable, its just so minor things for an entirely new faction
>>571235689MA Pangaea gets higher earth and less glamour, and the fort growth spell has to be researched at alt 5 instead of being known from the start, besides the armored scale troops It isn't a huge difference, but it is a gradient change between EA and LA PangaeaThe devs must really love pangaea because they released the nation six times
>>571229940EA is pretty optional since your blood mages are less reliable, MA I’d make the caee to focus on it more since you can recruit more pandemoniacs, and turn them into efficient hunters to develop a modest blood economy to support the rest of your already strong nation.
>>571226170Unironically Oceania is VERY strong early game and bodies most early age UW competitors with an Aphori rushYea they are a worse Pangaea, but Pangaea is REALLY good
>>571224446We need MORE gimmick factions honestly. We need a sky plane and cloud-only factions

So, after alot of deliberation and thinking, i picked three 'samey' factions in each age to learn to play every game, hope this is good enough?>EA Yomi>MA Asphodel>LA LemuriaBy samey i mean "Put scales certain way and you will get free shit in temples/forts every turn" hopefully it teaches me good expanding habits
>>571266190I mean sure, but they're more complicated than just playing someone like MUlm or EArmor or LAMan
>>571266190>hopefully it teaches me good expanding habitsThey wont for most nations, because freespawn lol. But there's nothing really wrong with that if thats what you wanna do. There's so many aspects to learning the game that no matter where you start, youll still have to learn something else later anyway.Yomi is one of the only nations that uses thugs to expand too rather than just armies. These are not standard nations, but they are cool and interesting nations. If you like Yomi's vibe and you want a more standard nation try Shinuyama.
>>571266573Playing as "white chud with sword" is an oxymoron>>571267972Then i wont have an EA pick anon!
>>571266190Yomi's freespawn is very little and extremely trash, with most units being weaker than militia. The nation is all about those recruitable Dai Oni, which are one man armies.Asphodel has some very good sacred freespawn, but the rest is trash. It's also a very weird nation that's both extremely gold hungry and dependent on its own recruitable sacreds to expand rapidly (so you need high dominion) and pop kill (so you want low dominion). They're possibly one of the worst starting nations because they are quite unique in that way.Lemuria desperately needs certain spells to support their troops, and are extremely bad at casting them with their own mages.Any age Ulm, EA Ermor, any Arcoscephale, any C'tis are pretty decent starters because they don't have any glaring weakness that forces them to play a certain way.C'tis in particular is possibly the most "average" nation in the game. Their biggest weakness is the lack of proper strengths, so you neither learn to rely on certain crutches nor get used to work around certain flaws
>>571259976There is nowhere for Therodos to spawn because they are an underwater nation and there are no underwater spawns on this map. You can add underwater spawns to the map, or get Therodos to play some other nation
>Google how to get more commander points to recruit my 4 point commanders>"Just wait a turn lol">Do so, still 2 points>i have to select the unit BEFORE the turn ends despite being unable to buy it and the game automatically 'spends' 4 the next turn instead of simply adding the points together to my poolthe fuck?>>571272370seems like i only pick the weird shit uh

>>571275334I AM TRYING OKAY?!
>>571275590Training units, commandes, and mages tajes time. Sone take more time than others. Sometimes this is illustrated by hard limiting the numer of units that can be recruited per turn. For commanders this is done with commander points.
>>571266190No, because Yomi, while it has freespawn, is not a freespawn nation, its a supercombatant nation that also gets freespawn. There is also not a single nation who plays like Yomi in the entire game.

Then I'll have faster units like wolves, horses, ect attack rear to catch out archers and mages. Big blobs often get surrounded and routed esp by knights.

>>571281793This is the dreamatlas experienceYou just need to keep retrying different seeds until you get one that works and doesn't have a bunch of massive provinces in the middle. >>571294392The min requirement is 12 by 12 in MP, for domg? Your cap circle by 12.
>>571291615>>571294272>the dormant hellblesses kick back and watch the awakes duke it out until they come online>they all push in like clockwork on turn 12 and wipe eachother out
>>57129439215 by 12 means you probably wont embarrass yourself during expansion. This is very easy to do with an awake expansion pretender or a strong build. This is assuming you are playing on a somehwat balanced map that doesn't have lots of dead ends and chokepoints. It may be harder or easier to get that number in a vanilla illwinter generated mapSome places play with bigger or smaller maps in multiplayer, which alters what par for expansion is a bit too.

Sorry for doing this on the first turn, but can I have an extension of six hours or so? I was hoping to get my turn done when it started in the morning before I had to attend this wedding, but the game got delayed so I couldn't do it. Sorry for the trouble.
Weddings with Ulm maidens. . .
>>571350581there are no ulm maidensthat entire nation is a sausage fest
>>571351939IT HAS MAIDENS IN MY HEART
>>571351939EA Ulm maybeMA Ulm is a sausage fest, its why I make sure my pretender is a chickLA Ulm has sadistic undead vampires if you’re into the kink
>>571287772Thats the type of mfer who ends up winning
>>571274225>knights absolutely body manikins and vine bitchesInteresting.. very interesting

>>571377253Did you hand draw this mapIt's impressive
>>571382936Nah I googled around for fitting maps and grabbed one that looks nice. I didn't even know if anyone would join so I didn't want to start by drawing one myself
Guys, where are your awakened battle pretenders? you wont let a newbie take the arena from the first turn with chaff, right?
>>571362356It does now
FIRST BLOOD>Kailasa sends the scout to attack the arena, it dies>Caelum defeats the indie barbarians, but had his archers on stay away from enemies and they retreated behind the commander, who was sitting in the middle of the field>turns out a single scout with 0 leadership is enough for troops not to rout>Muspelheim arrives and takes the arena with eight huskarls, no lossesA beginning worthy of /domg/
>>571383710Listen, I blindly ran into Barbarians turn 1, don't expect anything from me.
>>571385989Oh yeah i saw how half your troops retreated and figured out how the fuck i took the arena like that
>>571386438That wasn't me. Even worse, I ran into them in my cap circle. I figured someone else was going to slam an awake expander into the arena and didn't try.
>>571386681If I was allowed to be Theodros I was going to foul vapours it until turn 10 or something. But alas.
>>571386681>failspanding on difficulty 1 indies
>>571387186>weak indies
>>571386438Was me, my plan to snipe the indie commander and having the scout as a backup leader did work but barbarians being barbarians they killed all my weak troops on their way back and left me with a few archers and a scout that was easy meat for your fresh army coming. Was worth a try anyway.
>scales nation>get lucky enough to have four cap connections>they're all a pathetic 20res eachHaha I didn't want to expand and make army anyway
>>571387804Search the provinces with earth. You might find a mine site that could salvage your recruitment
>>571388603Lame, no preset sites
>>571386805Why is Therodos so overpowered? Not only has the only pretender that auto-casts an insta-win spell, but also the overpowered Bronze Colossus that solos the entire lobby effortlessly with zero counter.
>>571394463Bronze Colossus is available to loads of nations. There's even a few others that get the telkhine pretender (but can't use it as effectively). In a proper multiplayer game though Therodos is really not that good. They lose almost every 1v1 to other water nations, doubly so since they'll have notice to add poison resist and magic weapons to their bless. In 5 they also relied heavily on buffing their ghosts with protection buffs, and they are no longer allowed to do that. They really need to think outside the box to end up being a threat to the game
>>571395140If this is the case, then why did a Therodos win like ten games in a row here?
>>571397417because that guy no-lifed theorods for hundreds of hours
>>571397417The main thing going for it is nobody wants to be the guy who actually deals with the popkill nation, which can buy them enough space to become oppressive. If Therodos shares an ocean with another water nation though, the other water nation doesn't really have a choice but to come kill you.On a map where they are the only water nation, or seperate ponds for water nations, they can become scary
Therodos should only have popkill in their capital which also freespawns specters. Muspelheim that shit.
>>571394463By that logic every nation who has access to those strong pretenders is equally OP.>auto-casts an insta-win spellEven though it is a very early battlewipe, poison res is easily accessible at enchant 4 and through a bless (the other FV counter of "just kill them in 20 turns or less" isn't really feasible with 500 ghosts in the way). I usually counterpick 5 PR in the bless if Therodos and/or C'tis are in the game and have no more issues.>Bronze Colossus that solos the entire lobby effortlessly with zero counterYou would be surprised at how easily it dies to a handful of smasher/GSS counterthugs with a bit of shock res gear. Inanimate is a very exploitable tag through smashers or offscript shatter on advance and cast (you ARE playing with better casting AI right?).>>571397417I was there and don't remember Therodos anon winning a huge number of games in a row. I do remember he would host shitty vanilla maps that gave him a huge ocean as the sole water player, then threw a bitchfit and went AI in all his games after being counterpicked in a blitz.
>>571399508>offscript shatter on advance and cast (you ARE playing with better casting AI right?).better casting ai makes zero difference in regards to casting shatter. it has been tested and documented here.
>>571399812That has not been my personal experience, which has consisted of:>teleport on opponent with golem thug in vanilla game, he predictively had an E3 mage there on advance and cast>the mage didn't cast shatter once in 60 rounds leading to my opp swearing off vanilla entirely>storm opponent's last fort with golem thug in sloop's game>my golem gets shattered like a bitch in 10 roundsI'd like to see the supposed testing done here, because without it I would trust the Lucidcord tryhards over here any day.
>>571387308On the bright side, you have a sage site.
LAAANKA
>>571387186I blindspanded because I thought there was no way it could be something horrible, but then it was 50 Barbarians.

favorite dominions girl?
>>571387308>losing to cookie cutter bitchfantry LolYour faction is GARBAGE or you picked a bitch pretender
>>571356387Elaborate? Im an ulm main. Everyone was talking about how OP Pangea with undead was, and it turns out they just job to heavy cav. If they have no sacred centaurs, it’s unironically over for them.
it's almost that time again.
Alright, is it possible to somehow spectate the arena game? Im not in the game but I want to see how it plays out.
>>571424104Some ass-phodel freespawn is good. The bitch basic ones are just meat to slow the enemy down. Asphodel wins battles by tiring the enemy out, hence all the sleep vine attacksBring in the mage support and see how well Ulm troops do into manikins + rigor mortis
>>571425086Nope. You will have to rely on second hand reports. There is a mod that allows people to spectate, but they have to be added to the game before it starts, and the map has to support it. It's called omniscience
another successful dominions was had.
We did it /domg/
New thread?
I have TWO (2) points now
>>571430803THREAT ALERT someone stop him
>>571431364Would be funny if i end up winning just because nobody contested the first turns, thus i end with a higher score due to the back and forth between everyone else
>>571399508I was the counter picker lolI didn't even try all that hard, all I did was pick oceania with a haphazardly built godsorry about the lack of artI've been working on an idea for a manga
>>571432103I can make her worse
>>571399812That hasn't been my experience if the E mage has any other paths, even a straight E3 will get distracted casting ironskin/stoneskin on nearby troops. Its so bad that now I tend to run BCs in any game without a casting ai or an overhaul mod. For the record, that was an E3G2 that refused to cast shatter even a single time despite being quite close to the golem.
