My initial reaction to X and Y dying with no fanfare or cutscene was actually a positive one and it quite surprised me in a good way. Same thing with Keves/Agnus castle towns. Colony 0 is an empty cave and they just reuse a previous area. Arguable whether this is "not caring", but it absolutely is putting significantly less care into the game as compared to the first 75% of the game.
