Going by the book, Meursault will only become more off-putting, through the ordeal with the court and priest he goes from experiencing life at the basic physical level and nothing more, to relishing the cries of hatred that give his defiance or indifference to everyone's social rituals weight, he shifts from living by his immediate presence and to being 'conscious', you could say, but in a twisted way, it will be very interesting, not the development itself, but how this impacts his interactions going forward, he might be our only ''''evil'''' sinner, Meursault's meant to be LE STRANGER, I think people neglect that we don't see more of Meursault after his quiet realization at the end of the book, so he'll definitely be more active within the bus afterwards but maybe in a way that doesn't exactly mesh well with the social atmosphere.
