Tried Vanguard for the first time through Dear Days. Started with the Dark States/Chronojet deck, made some upgrades, and at first it was fun. Then the CPU got "better" and the games just became heal/crit trigger spamfests that drag on forever.

Played some online too and it’s the same thing. I honestly can’t imagine how this feels competitively IRL.

People say Vanguard is "fairer than Yu-Gi-Oh," but I don’t really see it. Sure, there’s no turn 1 solitaire, endless negates, or trap bullshit like in the standard format, but instead you still get meta decks dominating and games swinging because someone lucksacked into heals or triple crits.

Vanguard removes one type of bullshit and replaces it with another.

Konami play tested Stardust in the sense that they made it so it could beat Therion without actually having to nerf Therion.
Stardust was the most played deck, but Vaalmonica and Therion won the WCQ, so I bet Konami sees that as a success in balancing.

I still hope they nerf all those decks and dial back on the ridiculously powerful skills, but we'll see.
