I think that the "stalker type" of mobs in so many horror mods are popular for a good reason and they could implement them in ways that would be super fun.

One way I can think of is an extension of the phantom idea. After long enough of not sleeping you could notice subtle things. Maybe it starts with strange sounds, like just footsteps. As you go longer without sleeping the tier of the entity could go up, giving stronger effects and stronger tells. Maybe even up to slight griefing, but mostly atmospheric stuff and occasional attacks. After long enough of not sleeping, they get "fixated" and sleeping won't get rid of them, you have to do something else to get rid of them. They could even have different methods required to get rid of them depending on what "type" of entity they are which you have to determine based on how they're messing with you, like a phasmophobia situation.

There could be ones unlinked from sleep too. I initially thought of this because of how anticlimactic pale forests are. You can just never engage with it and rarely appreciate the spooky vibes unless you live in that tiny area. What if you could get "cursed" by a stalker kind of creaking after harvesting enough of the trees or breaking the creaking hearts. You go back home and occasionally notice pale particles around, pale fog, hear something racing behind you, and eventually find creakings acting like weeping angels around you outside of the forest until you do something to deal with it.

and yet nobody has made anything with them. even minigames i hear nothing about them. they're genuinely a failure of a mechanic
mojang would know servers are able to do far more than that without the sulfur cube, but they don't check those out, that's why gambling servers are running rampant. they simply do not care to check on what/how people are playing the game.

>in a free update for a game i bought for $20 in 2010
>icing on the cake: mojang quietly adds vulkan support
minecraft is like pokemon. they just need to do the bare minimum for the games. then they can continue selling merch, media and spin off games using it as a base. that's why the "mainline" games and updates are always lackluster. they exist to sell the rest
>>
>>571147439
>and yet nobody has made anything with them. even minigames i hear nothing about them.
I trust you have surveyed a sizeable portion of the playerbase?

i don't know what others are doing, and I'm still a few drops behind because I've been lazing off on keeping my data packs up to date, but I fully intend to build a golf course or a sportsball field once I get my hand on the cum cubes. In my view as a builder this is definitely one of the better drops as of late, at least it beats TT (which adds literally nothing new whatsoever besides the ability to halt animal aging) and MoM (new mobs are cool for ambience I guess but I see no reason to carry a new gimmick weapon over a trusty all-purpose sword or bother with nautili when I have conduits and Aqua Affinity)

As soon as people stop bitching, Mojang will stop trying. They're not updating the game out of the goodness of their hearts, but because the development is a loss leader for the recurrent-revenue stream that is the Bedrock marketplace. Once people stop playing the game, there will be no more money coming in, and the game will stop being updated. To avoid that, a steady stream of new content is required, and that content has to be good enough to actually keep the players' interest - just like with any live-service game. If you enjoy playing Minecraft, then it's in your best interest to help Mojang do their best work, and you do that by [constructively] criticizing what they do

They should add more trophies in general. Currently there's the sherds, armor trims, dragon egg, and mob heads. But that's not a lot, and there really aren't many other items you can use for decorations

I hate the graininess in the shadows, and the way the lighting makes some blocks look like plastic. You also get that amateur "HD remake" feel from some of the textures, where the visual detail of some elements (the lighting and shadows) don't match the detail of others (textures and geometry). Still, the tech is cool. I'd love to see colored light being added to vanilla

>new mobs are cool for ambience I guess but I see no reason to carry a new gimmick weapon over a trusty all-purpose sword or bother with nautili when I have conduits and Aqua Affinity
fair points. nautili need equine stats like donkey and horses. it's frustrating that they don't. spear is also a gimmick weapon, sure, but the gimmick being lunge and the options it provides for movement have been positive, and using the spear on a well-bred high stat horse is underappreciated.
i think a lot of people forget that at best only 1 in 10 players actually beat the ender dragon in their worlds, with even less 1cycling him, and obtain elytra after. hell, my longest running world that i started 3 years ago is on day 8000 (a lot of that has been afk) and i haven't entered the end once because i've been too busy building a custom village and i haven't really needed elytra. i plan on doing it at some point this month, but tbph im doing it for shulkers, not elytra. most of my transportation has been on a horse leading chest donkeys through nether roof portals. i had most of the saddles prior to 1.12.6 when they became craftable, but making them craftable has enabled a lot of this playstyle that otherwise would have been a chore.
i bring up all of the above to just emphasize that there's plenty of people that play the game sub-optimally (that aren't babies/toddlers) that appreciate mojang's dedication to providing options for people that don't rush rocket farms and elytra. nautili in their current state feel incomplete, but i appreciate that they exist.
sidenote: i feel like im the only anon here that actually liked TT, but i also like builds with mobs in them so im biased in that regard

That's just because you currently have to choose one or the other. If Mojang added a toolbelt or something similar, so you could bring all your tools in a single inventory slot, you'd suddenly have a lot of hotbar space over for other things. A spear can be really useful - but it's also a very situational weapon, so you won't bring it unless you either know you'll end up needing it, or you have the room to spare

Doing that on the dispensers helped but I also had to add that signal as a negative to the comparator because the way I did it would otherwise leave it on the one it last failed at. I agree that they don't fit my style or preferences but it was completely necessary move with the super big amount of junk mobs they add to the game finding out the right egg you want visually was going to get ridiculous. And don't see it from the perspective of Jimmy the redstoner that only cares about spawning the classic hostile mobs, villagers, allays, and very rarely vindicators and happy ghasts. >>571257357
But enough about cum cubes
>>
>>571228902
>>571229119
They are utter dogshit. One of my least favorite changes in recent years.
While retexturing the spawn eggs to make them more distinct was perhaps a good idea, the design choice is retarded. They should have simply make miniature icons of the mob instead (picrel is a resource pack named Spawned Eggs that does just that)
>>
>>571217648
At this point you'd be better off starting over. You can preload the crafter to "lock" a recipe, and instead of firing when the crafter is full, you fire on a clock that's matched to your input speed. That clock can then be disabled when an ingredient chest is almost empty, making sure you never completely run out of ingredients

>Meanwhile we had an entire patch drop for baby mob model/texture updates

They just added wool stairs and even showcased them being used as seats in a build. It's the time they could get away with adding it without it being "out of place"
>>
>>571259148
Who are you quoting?
>>
>>571259363
the problem is that stairs are used in a lot of things so you'd end up with a ton of builds where right clicking somewhere could make you sit in some awkward place unintentionally, it would be better to have some way to manually assign any block as a seat but that would probably feel out of place in Minecraft
>>
>>571260069
This. I sometimes use stairs as part of walls to save on materials, or to prevent wall blocks from connecting to them like they would to a full block. Mojang would need to make sure you won't suffocate if you randomly sit on a stair, or abuse the mechanic to clip through floors if the stairs make part of the floor/ceiling. It's not impossible to implement all this, but it would be a just waste of resources on a cosmetic gimmick (one that, unlike cutesy new mobs, won't help promote he game on social media, that is)
>>
>>571259148
100% visual improvement
>>
>>571260748
One very simple solution would be to check if there's two air blocks above the stair before you seat the player. Beds and minecarts already allow you to "teleport" short distances - like those old-school minecart ladders - so it's not like it would break the balance or whatever. I'd still prefer a simple emote wheel, with animations like sit and lay (which already exist in the game), and maybe even wave and so on for multiplayer
>>
they should give us a new button/bind that lets you sit wherever when you press it
press it while sneaking and you can crawl around (like you can do using trapdoors or water)
>>
>>571267545
>Beds and minecarts already allow you to "teleport" short distances - like those old-school minecart ladders - so it's not like it would break the balance or whatever.
Bad comparison that shows precisely why it WOULD break things. People build boat/minecart elevators exactly because they are entities specifically designed to be interacted with. People build floors, roofs and stairwells out of stairs exactly because they AREN'T interactable entities but rather solid blocks that are not meant to be phased through.
>>
>>571268140
People build roofs out of beds as well, or make doors out of boats because they have a cool opening "animation". Your logic doesn't really apply here
>>
>>571268140

I can't move the hoppers or the water really but items sometimes get caught between the glass and the water and get wasted.
>>
>>571274494
There's no way of fixing that with your current setup. Droppers have a certain randomness to them in how they spit out items, and you'd need a bit of space to compensate for that. Dropping items through powder snow makes them 100% consistent, and dropping them into water from the side always makes them align to the other edge of the water stream. But, again, both of those solutions need space

I never thought of it before but huh, having a boat or a minecart that you can only see through a tiny hole would be a neat way to put in a secret area.

Seems like I lessened it with this. Maybe if it's going up with a trajectory toward the hoppers and smacks a ceiling right away it goes further in that direction, so opening it up and keeping them a bit away from the edge with trapdoors helps. If it's REALLY biased in that direction maybe it'll get caught still but I think this way most of them get through.
>>
>>571277172
But people sit on real stairs all the time, so what's the harm? In fact, people sit on anything that's convenient, so I really don't see the problem. I'd still rather have a /sit emote, but you know

Coppa gollies are my favorite thing they've added in a while. They don't do something insanely more useful than other things in the game, but if you just need some simple item movement they are a lot cheaper than hoppers or hopper minecarts and don't need too much space. They're also just cute and can add some life to stuff.

The foxlin, it wears a red cloak and jumps across the treetops. You can barter with her using food, and different foods will give you access to better/worse trades. For example, berries could net you some string or flint, but rabbit stew can net you an ingot or even a diamond!

because anyone hwo plays the game knows that nearly isnt enough
even if you have your ender chest full of shulkers all organized it'll be 1-2 stacks most of an item. if you need more you'd be bringing more manually. let alone the absolute mess your inventory becomes as you start building and grabbing different blocks out. and the re-organizing process putting it all back after
this shits more about inventory management than actually building in survival nowadays

Idea:

The problem is that organization only takes you so far. If you need to constantly travel back to a shulker box - or even worse, constantly place and break a shulker box - you're being extremely inefficient. Yet when you're building with dozens of different blocks in different forms, and you're also carrying around your tools and consumables, you inevitably going to run out of space. If stacks were larger you wouldn't need so many slots for each material, but if that's not on the table then we need more slots. The people who don't notice this are those that don't use as many blocks while building - which is perfectly fine, but those people also won't be hurt by having more inventory slots, so there's nothing to lose

Basically the hopper functionality would make it so that if this hopper was under a chest, and on top of another, the hopper would only let the copper, lapis, diamond, and iron pass into the chest below, along with anything in the other four endermite bundles in the other slots, but the bundles themselves would never drain and would stay there as an item filter.

Language also doesn't exist in minecraft. Trading amounts to the two parties pointing at things (or the villager showing emerald/items when steve holds items/emeralds). Where do villagers even get the stuff from? Priests have 12(!) ender pearls per trade lock, 24 per day! They don't even have an ass to pull them from!
The closest thing to language "in" minecraft is the End poem, which is explicitly fourth-wall breaking and tells you to wake from a dream.

Guttural vocalizations from a sub-language animal. Their existence is so mundane, repetitive and solved that communicate in complex vocalizations has been lost.

Wait, one thing I did completely forget about was the language in the enchanting table. I was going to point out that while books exist written books don't. Arguably even enchanted books are empty (since that's what you use, generic empty books) and the 'enchanted' nature is just some magic tied to them independent of any internal text. Librarians just pull them out of some null space like all the rest of the villager trades. Since they get locked, it's not like the librarian is capable of deliberate, bespoke rearrangement.
But the table itself still does have the galactic alphabet. Can't explain that.

This kept trapping all of my villagers so other than putting the scenic grate over the scary one block open waterfall halfway down to bedrock just to the left, I added a few strategic dirt blocks which not only allowed villagers to easily escape and stop getting trapped in this spot, but also somehow turned it into an iron golem collector which it wasn't before.
Think I can remove one single dirt block above them and have a perfect perch to kill them without them hitting me for some free iron, since villagers seemingly don't notice you kill golems unless the golems hit you and mark you as aggro to them.

Pretty much all redstone designs ever made that don't make use of unintended mechanics still work in modern versions and even between java and bedrock, changing the stack size or minecart speed would break redstone designs that don't use unintentional mechanics.

I mean, I dislike j*ws too but the villagers did build the houses they live in. No animal can really build a home like those.

Wrong on all counts. It's definitely a chunk load tele to bed for time of day issue or something because it has gone away entirely after I changed simulation distance to 32 blocks.
Microsoft is lying if they say otherwise.
>>
>>571504578
Oh really, then why do they never build any more no matter how many of them are homeless and getting zombified at night, why can they sell you tools and mindlessly spin a grindstone but you'll never see them cut down or plant a tree or place so much as a plank?
They barely even manage to farm wheat without your interference.

But the villagers do all that stuff you mentioned..."in the lore" so to speak. We never actually see it in-game because it'd be difficult to code and arguably pointless to add.
>>
>>571509204
So in the lore why are they less adept builders than savage piglins (formerly pigmen)
>>
>>571509204
There is no "in the lore". If it's not in the game it's not part of the game.

It's just a terraria vortex bag that can act as a filter.
>>
Villagers have some degree of intelligence, but highly specialized. They get fixated on one thing and can become proficient in it, but in anything else they are totally inept. I do think cartographers and librarians are implied to actually be capable of reading and writing, not "pulling books out of the null space." There could be villager architects, but we don't ever see them. The villages we come across are all decedents of ones that could build apparently but none of them picked up the skills (for gameplay reasons obviously). It would be cool if there was an architect that sold blueprints you could buy and place for him to build. The blueprint requires him to have X materials to work on, and he could pick up those materials like farmers can pick up crops so you just chuck him some bricks or cobblestone and he goes and gets it done like a little rimworld pawn.
>>
>>571513195
It could also integrate with litematica so you can place and fill them yourself instead of thinking of your own
Mojang approved architectural styles of larger buildings in villager or ancient trail ruin style
Could get piglin style ones as rare gold trades
Oh wait wait no no that would suck too much dick with modern Mojank, instead, someone make a companion mod for Litematica with this concept

I always felt the best way to handle moderation would just be croud sourced "filters" so if you report someone for slurs it will automatically mute them for you, and if they get enough reports for the same thing then anyone with "slurs" or "racism" or whatever checked in their "Chat filter" settings will not see their messages. Could croudsource blacklist/whitelist settings as well. Then just make the reports expire over time so like a year or 2 later you'll not be filtered still.
>>

>>
>>571515547
Minecraft is in every language. You'd be got by a slur in some unknown language just typing normally. There's already issues with people making usersnames because that
Chat reporting systems never work if it's all automatic. Mojang doesn't even ban servers for being reported. If you've tried contacting support before you know how painful that is. They're not gonna manually review cases
>>
>You'd be got by a slur in some unknown language just typing normally
Well...that's why I just outlined a system that isn't based on automatic detection. There's a threshold for HUMAN player reports about you typing a racism at which you will be muted for anyone who has a "racism" filter enabled. If they choose to not use the filters because they think the community is too sensitive or whatever, they'll still see your messages. It's just reddit downvotes hiding posts but categorized by reasons and people can choose to hide/not hide them depending on the reason.
>>
How about this revolutionary system for chat reporting? Have the SERVER OWNERS decide how they want to moderate their chat, and the buck stops there. Microsoft/Mojang should not be involved outside of moderating official Microsoft/Mojang servers and designing tools that make chat management easier for server owners. That's it
>>
>>571516692
Anon, that's exactly why youtubers are being banned now. People realized you can just falsefag reports and with enough they get automatically banned
Minecraft support system is miserable to get in contact with somebody so it wont be a fun process trying to get your account back. Non-youtubers probably wont ever get unbanned too if they're hit by the exploit

>>

No? The bastions or whatever they are called, I don't think the piggers built them They are just squatting in them.
>>571511272
Then where do the houses come from?
>inb4 worldgen makes them
I mean, yes. But what other in-universe explanation could there be, besides the obvious one where the villagers built them?
>>
>>571519906
>>571520605
All I was replying to was the
>wont ever get unbanned
aspect.
Mojang is obviously going to do something about the method being used to ban people given how widely publicised the youtuber bans have been.
>>
>>571518798
I didn't say "you get reported a bunch and you get banned." You're leaving out like 80% of what I said and just talking to yourself and making me repeat what I've said in each reply.

The point is you can make player content filtering an opt in-system, down to specifics, that is mostly hands off from mojang, still governed by humans, and if people want to cry bully and go to the extreme of banning an account, mojang can say "you have the tools available to not see offensive content if you wish" and not be obligated to ban anyone or take extreme actions.
>>
>>571520748
If you run a minecraft server on your home server for you to play single player on, is that multiplayer? It's not much different than how Minecraft works normally. Minecraft also doesn't have cloud saves outside of Xbox, so it's the only option if you want to play your world across devices.

I have a simpler solution, gentlemen. We pressure the original creator of the game, Notch, to use his gorillion 'Merica dollars to buy his game back. Then we will no longer fear the retarded chat reports that ban you for normal things, such as calling a nigger what he is. For when the block game is back in the hands of the Swedish man, it shall become le based again.

Now, how do we pressure Notch to do that? I'd tell you but I am afraid that might get me banned off of here.
>>
>>571523132
Technically they magic themselves into existence with your exploration, but if you want to assume worldgen is a pure game mechanics with no diegetic explanation, then you can say that they were created at some point in the distant past and have simply forever existed as they were when you first meet them. It's not like villagers or any other passive entity (apart I guess from squids and fish) have a lifetime. The only threat to their lives is environmental damage or monsters and monsters only spawn when steve is nearby.
As inefficient as farmers are, over a long enough time they can breed new villagers to fill whatever attrition they suffer.
>>
>>571524315
Microsoft would never sell Minecraft, even if Notch came back with double what they gave him for it. too big of a cash cow

shift click
hold item + shift double click
slow retard confirmed
>>
>>571525946
That doesn't work. If I shift-click a shulker box, it just moves from my inventory to my hotbar. I don't get any blocks out of it
>>
>>571525720
Oh, so your blacklist of slurs would be for players that got reported for using slurs? I assumed your crowd-sources filters were based on words, not players. A list of player is just a really weird way of doing it when you could simply let players mute whoever they wanted, and have server mods ban/silence anyone who's being obnoxious
>>
>>571527019
It's basically to have players muted for individuals that don't want to see messages in the category that enough people have muted them for. A simple chat filter isn't going to work because there are false positives, and people will do what they do in dead by daylight chat - instead of saying "kill yourself" they say "buy a rope" or "commit to your deep thoughts next time" or whatever they can to convey their meaning to get around the filter. If a player is like that they're just going to find a way.

Now, maybe you're not sensitive, or maybe you're only sensitive about some things. So, the idea is you have a little "Player Content Filtering" menu in the settings, with checkboxes for the various content filters. Profanity, Racism, Sexism, Religion, Politics, whatever might raise your little snowflake cortisol. These are all of the reasons you can give for muting a player manually. If Johnny goes around trying to spark debates about an election in a server, and enough people manually mute Johnny, citing the reason as "Politics," then anyone with the "Politics" box ticked in the "Player Content Filtering" will not see Johnny's messages without having to manually mute them.

Server managers could also have blacklists that block players automatically if anyone has been mass muted for any given reason, so Johnny gets booted if this behavior is persistent and can't go onto other servers that don't want this behavior.

Johnny could receive warnings about growing numbers of reports in one category, be told he will be muted in this category at X threshold of reports, risks server bans at X threshold of reports in that category, etc. Then you can make it so the reports fade out at a rate of 1/day or more or less so that once Johnny gets the idea he can be seen in chat again by the players that filtered him for that or get access to servers that auto blocked him again.

So you mean shift-click to move items out of a placed shulker? But then I'd have to place that shulker down, and break it after I was done, which is exactly what I wrote in my original post as being part of the problem. You should really go work on your reading comprehension, you know. And maybe take an anger-management course while you're at it
