Owlcat should have made the rest of DLCs like Void Shadows where you can just tell your crew to handle it for you.
Imagine in DH if you could ask your retinue to solve the case for you

they should just release the finished game. or make standalone DLC.

i'm not replaying 90% of a game i already played no not even if there's a cute goth waifu.
>>
>>571186576
I agree, every game should have an option to just skip to ending slides immediately
>>
Could a perfect waifu selection and amazing romance realistically carry a CRPG's sales if the devs market it around those things?

I mean a normal CRPG like WOTR/POE/RT etc. with decent graphics and VA not talking BG3 production quality. In it, the romance is extensive and all the female companions are extremely hot and fill some niches as well (maybe a monster girl, a "dommy mommy" martial, goth warlock etc.) also detailed models with some immersive but sexy armors here and there. Plus great husbando selection for women as well.

The next DLC has to be an act 4 specific one because this one was basically another act 2 expansion

>>
>>571189592
No, I only drop games beacsue they're boring not because they're hard
>>
>>571188684
People attracted to that kind of marketing probably won't be interested in the more techinical side of the crpgs, which is pretty important for crpgs imo. I'm not saying romance doesn't fit or can't be advertised but if thats the main thing pushed then it'll be compared to games that are less complex and more ease of entry that lets them fug their favorite waifu and not spend a long time making party builds

Is cutting a character's limbs a permanent thing or do they magically regrow legs and arms if you remove their augments?

>>
>>571190940
Permanent, you can't remove them and have to replace them with another augment
>>
>>571190940
Permanent. If you remove the augs ABelard will will be just rolling around. The exception is jimmy - he'll regrow his limbs back, but only after 5 warp jumps
>>
>>571191194
seriously?
>>
Do people actually use Abelard past act 1?

>>571189335
The augs look incredibly uncomfortable. Like, not aesthetically as they're meant to look like dated junk but physically uncomfortable to have

The Devil went down to Georgia
He was lookin' for a soul to steal
He was in a bind 'cause he was way behind
And he was willing to make a deal
When he came across this young man
Sawin' on a fiddle and playin' it hot
And the Devil jumped up on a hickory stump
And said "Boy, let me tell you what"

"I guess you didn't know it, but I am a fiddle player too
And if you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you
Now you play a pretty good fiddle, boy, but give the Devil his due
I'll bet a fiddle o' gold against your soul 'cause I think I'm better than you"
The boy said, "My name's Johnny, and it might be a sin
But I'll take your bet and you're gonna regret 'cause I'm the best there's ever been"

Is there even such a thing as a difficult CRPG? These games let you load save files.

I played wotr blind permadeath on core, probably the closest thing to difficult because you need to balance a budget, builds, a sleep timer, while predicting what trump cards your enemies will have.
But that much is just entry level roguelike territory, i never actually had to stop and think.

and i got about 90% of the way into the game, act 5, got bored and dropped it. angel just kills everything. thinking back, after act 1 it really falls off, you're not really in danger again because you have the money to raise dead companions and prepare scrolls to oppose enemy trump cards, you have 999 buffs against every element that might jumpscare you, you are finally able to play the game and it's boring now. but act 1 blind was a real rush.

>>571199320
You can xanthitemax, try to fuck around with the daemonhost as early as Act I, and there's a warp entity in your head showing you echoes of past events. There's nearly a 100% chance that falling to Chaos will be one of the endings.
>>

It was easy on release. Now it's hard though. A lot of DLC dialogue doesn't have neutral options. Which means you have to be random sometimes. If it comes down to it you can just you toybox but that feels like a fuckup on Owlcat's part. Why have a neutral route if you're going to make it increasingly hard to maintain.

How dod Owlcat manage to make Jae so unpopular? It's almost as if she's just on the verge of being extremely hot, big boobs, roguish brown girl etc, but her face is just so subtly uncanny and unappealing, I can't put my finger on it
>>
>>571204591

>>571204201

>>
>>571203682
Probably Yrleit.

Even if you don't like Jae, she immediately gives you 2 profit factor and material gift items. There's reason to keep her around even if her personality is grating. She's also mechanically one of the best companions since she's an officer and has a unique origin talent that makes her the best skillmonkey.

Meanwhile Yrliet doesn't give you shit, and just throws racial slurs around constantly. There's no reason to like her unless you're blinded by female elf syndrome. She's even the weakest companion mechanically.
>>
Does it matter who becomes the governor of Zarkov?

>She's also mechanically one of the best companions since she's an officer and has a unique origin talent that makes her the best skillmonkey
Second least used companion in the game, nobody cares about that
>>
>>571203681
I can only assume they’re using that as a shorthand that you as a character have prior interest in and have studied Xenos extensively. Something heavily frowned upon unless you are something like an AdMech Explorator or Deathwatch Marine. Sure you could “happen” to have an innocuous reason for the knowledge, but the game is using this choice to peg you as a Xenos enthusiast. “An open mind is like a fortress with its gates unbarred and unguarded” and all that.
>>
>>571204927

The most important thing is that you can fuck Jae. You can't even think about touching Yrliet otherwise she has a meltie. >One day, Yrliet returned to find the elantach on her deathbed — her search had taken decades, yet decades pass without notice for Aeldari. Yrliet spent the elantach's final days with her, and when the time came for death to place its hand on the Rogue Trader's shoulder, she sank into her world one last time. The elantach, young again, looked at her and smiled. Tears burned Yrliet's skin, and then the dim light of the human soul faded. Yrliet touched the elantach's wrist to check her pulse. She closed her eyes, sighed, and left the von Valancius protectorate, never to return.

Anon... the other convictions get their own Nomos ending, they have their own unique gear, their own unique abilities, their own unique dialogue options, their own unique ship appearances, their Overseer pets gets new abilities AND appearance, and of course they get secret companions
The "glorious" conviction, aka the neutral one doesn't get jack shit outside of a cool ending slide, you can't even say that at least you get the advantages of all the convictions up to rank 2 because the other ones get that too

Guard Regiments each follow their own planetary culture and can bend their organization to fit it, within reason. So I expect that there probably are a lot of regiments that do promote from the rank and file.

She stares in two different directions and looks mildly disturbed. It's pretty unappealing. Funnily enough, her cumrag portrait has slightly adjusted eyes, which makes her look miles better. Like, at least I'd be able to look at her dialogue without having to actively avoid her portrait.

>>
Men are willing to put up with a lot of bullshit if the woman is hot. This is true in games, and it's true in real life. In fact, this reality has ruined more lives than most other social habits humans have.

Yrliet has a despicable personality. She's more racist than the average eldar, and she's also incompetent. Trusting Marzhai is so genuinely stupid that it betrays the average characterization of eldar which is that they know not to trust deldar. Like Yrliet is exceptionally stupid and exceptionally incompetent and exceptionally racist even compared to other eldar.

Yet the Yrliet defense force readily posts every single time someone points any of this out. "She is visually nice to look at, so my mind pushes aside her crimes" is an actual, real phenomenon and it's present in this game just like in real life. It's very fun when art imitates life.

IIRC, the latest definite news is Starrok confirming that they're not even thinking about new Pathfinder games in the next 3-4 years, so they've supposedly got some plans for this period. Which may or may not include more Warhammer.
In my opinion, unless their secret project is once again set in 40k, I think they'd at least take a break from it.

>>
>>571204591
I just don't like how she goes out of her way to start shit with others companion in many of her ending slides, to be fair it has a lot to do with Owlcat making these ending slides like your RT doesnt exist past the end of the game and would have no sway in what the companions do. I made her what she is and i don't appreciate her bringing more disorder and chaos so i usually just skip her or don't do her quest.
>>

>>571211582
Yeah it's petty but it's the reason she never survives any recent runs I do of RT. Her just randomly waging a war against the Bloodspun Web is bizarre. The same Bloodspun Web that directly serves the RT. I have a hard time believing that the RT just lets this happen without putting their foot down, especially if Kibbles is their wife.
>>
>>571209563
I don't think she's that hot but the whole elf romance for wannabe aragorn thing has its' own merit.
It's the male equivalent of Twilight female fantasy.

You don't know it's going to be sexless until you read the ending slides
Her final romance scene is all loving and mushy
So the average player will anticipate an ending where you have lots of children with her (the average player won't know this is grade-A ultra impossible)
>>
>>571211895
>I just want to smooch Discordance. Please Owlcat.
Do you think they'll have the balls to implement an origin-locked romance? I imagine they wouldn't repeat a sexless romance for two games in a row, and making a psyker Acolyte pass willpower checks just to touch her hand seems excessive.

They won't do this. Currently, if you're a psyker, when you meet her you just get a few extra lines, no checks. So they won't do the meme "skill check not to vomit" thing.

>>
>>571211434
>whom you can win over
I mean not really, she doesn't see you as an equal because she's disgusted by your touch. She wouldn't have these problems with an Eldar, she explicitly states she doesn't find humans attracted and is disgusted by the thought of being intimate with them.
People cope by saying "she never says she would be intimate with Eldar, maybe she's asexual or also disgusted by Eldar touch" etc., but nothing indicates this she says she is not attracted to humans and finds them disgusting specifically.
>>
>>571213590
Yeah and you're given the impression that you're gonna change her
>I would NEVER have ANYTHING to do with a human!
>*conspicuously fascinated by the prospect of entering your soul, feels guilty about wanting this*
>*gasp* your soul is so pure... I never expected... O_O... to become part of someone....
It's clearly set up like you're gonna change her so that's why people get interested in her

If you invite Eogunn to the bath after Pasqal there's an option to ask him whether he's gonna piss in the pool too
>>
>>571213948
You do change her when it comes to spiritual/emotional connection and exploring souls. But the physical stuff doesn't.
Now not saying there should have been sex, as it would serve no purpose apart from hedonism in this relationship, something a non-Ynnari/Harlequin Eldar away from their Craftworld or Corsair Fleet should be weary of. But if the late romance had some kissing and/or cuddling it would have been a good show that she doesn't view you with disgust physically and indeed views you as an equal.
>>
>>571214089
You fail a willpower check and can't get hard, which ends the romance. Discordance then mentions it in her banter with the other companions, at least five times.

The pincer attack is deadly. I managed by running towards the side where the governor used to be, and wiping that out immediately, including the zipline. That took about two turns, and also put some distance between me and the other side.
Then I headed back up to the middle to give myself room to maneuver out of the way of the gunship barrages. I used Saro's firestorm to weaken the attackers, and Aspyce and Ra'akhti to precision snipe

>"Who rules the [navigator] House?"

>"You lived a sequestered lifestyle, clearly you're the next Novator!"
How am I supposed to make the connection logically? The dialogue practically gives me the answer without sufficient information. Cassia living a protected life because she was "special" does not feel like enough information to conclude that she's effectively a princess. Just a unique individual.

Its not until the throne room ambush that the Orsellio rebels reveal enough information to even begin to assume that Cassia is a Novator in waiting.

That's how I did it. I had Hypatita too to do some cleanup since her AoE melee attacks with her toxin gimmick is good. I still think the Commissar himself is a bit overtuned.

every fight, even against regular enemies, my tanks with plate armor and tower shields lose like 20+ health.
the Fighter's AC is -2, Paladin's is 2, and Cleric's is 1.

You know this is a good piece of writing here. If you pay attention you can tell that he's lying. It is established early in act 1 that drukeks would never work with a chaos worshipper. Jimmy tells you that and Achilleas, being an Inquisition acolyte himself, would know that too.
On the other hand it's bad writing, because Jimmy, being the one who told you about that should have immediately called him out on this.

>>
>>571236542
Yes, it's already been established that marazhai is badly written. There's a reason they removed his chaos ending
>>
>>571236353
That's pretty neat. I wonder how they could have added a little reactivity here without giving the twist away
>>
>>571236576
Never have I heard of a week being refered to as a cycle. There's a solar cycle, which is a year, a lunar cycle which is a month, or close to it, and earth cycle, which is a day. Because, you know, those are celestial bodies that rotate around each other, hence "cycle"
>>
>>571236576
2-ish weeks sounds right. Janris tells you of a theological dispute on Foulstone that's been going on for "8 cycles"
>>
>>571236353
I'd say it's potentially good writing that was ultimately undermind by their desire to railroad the player into a certain point in the story without making an effort of making it work. Once you actually examine it, it all falls apart

Does anyone else feel like you're not supposed to use the "Rest until healed" option?
I know it's in the game, but it just feels a bit unusual to just take a two day nap in the middle of a dungeon so that everyone is back up to 100%.
Then again, it also really feels bad when you rest, have the cleric spend all her healing spells, have the paladin cast lay on hands, and still have everyone at 30%.

I don't know why I get so weird about trying to optimize rests in these sorts of games. Even when there aren't any obvious time limits to deal with. Maybe it's just an aspect of roleplaying.
Weird part is that in fantasy novels, the characters will often take rests for multiple days at a time. Not even just for low intensity plot moments.

Maybe even take a leaf out of Dark Souls, and make it so you can only rest at specific save points that also respawns all enemies so you can't just slowly chip away by spamming your best spells. (maybe reaching a safe room stops enemies from the previous section from spawning so you can backtrack in peace)

A good correction; shame it took them 2 years to remove it. But his writing overall still is bad lore wise. He should've left the heretic rt.

And with the way the devs wrote him, too many people automatically lump his evil with chaos's evil and never try recruiting him on other playthroughs. It wouldn't surprise me if the next update they'll fuck his character completely into being chaos only. Not expecting anything good from it anyhow.

eh, making a justification for your character to stop him if you are already there is not hard to think of
Problem is with everything leading up to it since Owlcat wrote themselves into corner by making him too competent

There is zero, zip, zilch, nada, null reason for RT to openly break law and chase Lord Inquisitor at the end of Act IV, let alone openly attack Inquisition forces. It's even more bizarre that characters like Opticon or Dolorosso come out to bid you farewell on your quest, as if that was some suicide mission against great evil when all you trying to do is... to ask him some questions? It's absurd

Especially since after siege you still don't know shit about his plans or more importantly where he went and how and have no clue how to follow him. All you know is that he manipulated Space Wolves and Admech somehow. So game makes you go to Footfall, then makes an additional point that any clue of Calcazar's presence here has been intentionally and perfectly removed to cover his tracks and then... turns out that he left his right hand man here, guy who knows his plans and how to get him so you can squeeze everything you need out of him. It's so utterly ridiculous and nonsensical.

This is why the only, sole narrative that makes sense is an Inquisition route where Calcazar trusts you and needs your help, so he openly invites you to follow him and leaves a guide for you. I'd wager it was even written like this to begin with and other options were added later as an alternative deviations of Inquisition route. And from that point it makes sense for a Puritan Dogmatic to attack him once you learn about his Xeno projects or for an Iconoclast to get a revenge for all those people he killed.

Dawn is a reasonably common name. I don't know what this guy is going on about. It's typically a girl's name which is why it's funny in rogue trader and people laugh about it. but it is in fact a name.

the whole cult goes by celestial codenames. Vogtvir is Twilight, the two on Rykad go by Aurora, and of course the cult itself is the Final Dawn. We can tease Twilight about having a slightly girly name too, but it's because they're just using celestial phenomenon names and many of them happen to be girl's names. Aurora's codename translated into russian happens to be a word that is not commonly used in russian for first names, but that's.....utterly irrelevant. When you play the game in German and the character's codename is Dämmerung, you don't see a bunch of german people making posts about how "this name doesn't make sense". They know it's a translated code name.

I swear you people just make stuff up to be mad about.

how in the world does kinetic knight work? I like the sound of it, but I've heard normal kineticist works better as a melee? Even if armors bad cause you go dex and the usual downsides, and theres no real reason to go str since blast damage doesnt scale, it seems like shields are a good pickup if nothing else, and you can start blading straight from level 1 as a frontliner which is what I want. I'm not mega familiar with how Kineticist works though
>>
>>571260269
>People have mentioned your cult to me in their confessions
What? It's a cult that's localized on your ship though? Doloroso have never been on our ship. Is THE KIBERA-SAMA that famous?????

If you think the death cults are weird then you don't get it. if the emperor tells you to kill someone, you kill them. any rituals you perform in order to attune yourself to being able to hear the emperor are justified. the bloodspun web save the ship as a direct result of their weird shit. there's no question whether they're legit.
>>
>>571261036
That was extremely based tho.
>>
>>571261275
Death Cults are considered weird and icky even within the setting. They are tolerated because they worship the emperor and becasue they are easy to manipulate to do your bidding

Owlcat is now trusted by GW and can even use established important characters like Trazyn
They got ADB, current "Head of Narrative" at GW for Dark Heresy and his pet Night Lords
Nights Lords are big deal in Dark Heresy, clearly the big bad behind it all which will show up proper later in game. They even started hype and marketing by sending that Night Lord message to that youtuber

I believe Decimus will show up in Dark Heresy. He might even be main villain and secret companion.
>inb4 literally who?
Those who know, know. It will be this same hype marketing as when selling Infinite Museion dlc with Trazyn

I doubt that, Trazyn is pretty easy to understand and explain in a sentence. The only people who care about Decimus are the people who read through the entire Night Lords books,

1. Worked with Dark Eldar indirectly allowing Dargonus to be attacked
2. Took dangerous tech from Eufrates 2 that the Admech has a schism over and that chaos wanted to steal.
3. Turned your predecssor and you into a pawn.
4. Killed off most of his acolytes who knew his plan if you do Jimmy's story
5. Tried to kill Pascal multiple times if you do Pasqal's story.
6. Uses the cult of the final dawn to kill off the mechanicus witnesses who finish his yoke, essentially dooming both Kiava Gamma and Eufrates 2, and makes Jimmy use the demon computer to find out how many chaos dudes know about the yoke so he can kill them.

Dogmafag vs iconofag admech edition
>>
>>571262460
Yes he is. The game and then larger lore of death cults are clear on this. As long as they're doing it right, they do follow orders from the Emperor.

>>571263363
Tzeentch, and chaos in general, ultimately wants to rape you and devour your soul and the souls of all of your loved ones.
The Emperor wants humanity to rule the stars and be resistant to chaos, and every bad thing he did along the way was a direct response to chaos trying hard to stop him, from the beginning, because they want humanity weak and vulnerable. The more you learn about the lore, 40k is actually pretty cut and dry. Some people wish it was more nuanced so they write various "Emperor bad actually" stories, but the fundamentals haven't changed over the years.

If the Emperor sometimes seems a little blunt, it's because he was born in the literal stone age, not far from Catal Huyuk in Anatolia, the first city. He's from the Neolithic era.

I always wonder if it was a coincidence that Games Workshop decided to put Emperor's birthplace in the area where the double headed eagle symbol as we know it originated from.
It's not like it was unknown back when but before easy access to internet and obscure topics on wikipedia, you'd have to be a bit of Anatolian archeology nut to know that.

No, they already confirmed multiple times that nobody liked Midnight Isles.
