I was able to shave about 10 minutes off my Daroach and Gooey guest star runs, which is nice. There were still lots of times where I spent too much time on some spots that could've been done quicker. I'm particularly interested to see how low I can get it for Magolor and the Mages, the latter especially considering how fast Zan moves. I'm also interested in how fast I can clear Jammerjab's route, since Staff frankly deals an OBSCENE amount of damage to bosses, like, during my initial Jammerjab run (where I wasn't worrying about time), I was able to defeat Dedede before he could smash through the floor at all. What makes me unsure is that I find the regular routes boring, probably on account of me playing all of them in the span of a single month.

Do you prefer the old stories in Kirby or new ones? From an objective standpoint the narratives in the post Kumazaki era are better but I miss the simplicity of Sakurai/Shimomura era stories. They weren't heavy on lore and barely had themes to speak of aside from very simple aesops like 'don't let greed and pride consume you' but I like that. It makes the stories feel more dreamlike and almost like bedtime stories.

This is why I love Kirby 64, a game with no dialogue to speak of yet it does a great deal to flesh out the world beyond Popstar, as well as the individuals hailing from it. You got stuff like the bigass Ramiel thing on Rock Star, Shiver Star in general, the parallels between Popstar and Ripple Star, whatever the deal with 02 is. All the weird fucked up funny copy abilities. I think the vagueness lead to speculation, rather than it being told to you directly by the devs if you pause the game. I don't think we've ever gotten cutscenes that portray such a natural aura of fun and friendliness that Kirby naturally evokes as a character, before or since 64. I want cutscenes of him skimming rocks across the sea or going fishing with Waddle Dee or some shit like that again, that'd be epic. Not to say Kumazaki is bad, but I feel like his games thrust the EPIC onto Kirby and have the cute/friendliness off to the side. There's nothing wrong with this obviously, I like when Kirby gets epic and strikes down something way bigger than himself for the bajillionth time. Part of me yearns for the simplicity embedded in him to be used as a tool to make a truly undeniably charming Kirby game again, though. sorry 4 WOT

I feel RtDX does about as much for that game as Ultra did for Super Star, and Air Riders certainly was presented as sizable enough to at least be in the Epic Yarn/Canvas Curse ball park of spinoffs-approaching-mainline tier. Said it dozens of times already but SCW has me incredibly excited to see what the next new mainline will be though, I think it already shows how good of a basis HAL has coming into the Switch 2.>Damn, I was gonna ask if there was a substantial Spanish-language fandom back then.Genuinely wish I could tell you about it, but I wouldn't be all too aware of those times. Looking back I feel like I didn't get into the series proper until relatively late despite being attached to it since I was very little (for context, RBaY was aired right before I had to leave for school so I'd make it a point to get up early just so I could catch it, and seeing Kirby in Smash I thought he was from the show, didn't even have the concept of there being games attached). Wasn't until I got RtDL as a gift that I'd have one of the games for myself, before then I mostly played it off my friends or cousins' GBAs (distinctly remember a kid in Sunday school having Amazing Mirror and that fascinating me). Believe it or not my fandom experience is fairly insular, this place is really the most I "openly" engage with any Kirby fandom stuff, otherwise I just talk about it with friends who I already know are also fans of it.
>>573552182the first game I played was super star, I remember seeing dreamland 1 and 2 on store shelves but it didn't register with me at the time, the first one I rented was ghost trap then like 10+ later I got the sonic mega collection seeing lean bean machine confused the absolute hell out of me, Kirby 64 was rented alot but we never did buy it for whatever reasonthe first game I was bought was nightmare in dreamland which is extremely fitting given adventure came out the same year I was born then air ride, I didn't own a copy of super star until much later (and I bought a Japanese copy of 64 because PAL English ones are stupid expensive for 30 bucks)
