That's why I recommended it. You can do build your spellcaster however you want for the rest. In other words you can shock mofos without ever worrying about friendly fire. Probably the most important thing with casters and multi-classing is that every class uses their own casting modifier for their own spells (Wizards INT for their Wizard spells, Druids WIS for their and so on) and that items (scrolls, spells granted by gear, Illithid powers etc.) use the most recent new classes'. So in your build order they'd use CHA (Sorc's modifier) which is the desired outcome. However, there's an alternative: do Sorc for the first 4 levels, then respec your char to 1 level of Tempest Cleric then 3 level of Blue Dragon Sorc as it was before (important, so Sorc becomes the most recent new class) then at level 5 take the 2nd Cleric level. The "switch" doesn't occur here as Cleric is not a new class.This concept is more efficient during early game as you get to access to level 2 spells once your char hits level 3 as intended instead of at level 5 (as in your original plan). Since that part of the game is where you need the most help it's worth to consider this approach. You'll be 2 Tempest Cleric / 3 Blue Dragon Sorc by level 5 with both ways, one is just more useful in terms of power spike. Aside from this don't overthink it. I'm just gonna vent here real quick since I know I still have a lot of game ahead of me and I generally want to avoid spoilers, but I'm annoyed. I was trying to help Yurgir, but in the process of exploring I somehow killed a couple rats (I'm still not sure what actually happened, I just walked by them and they died, never had that happen in hours of playing) and they give me the option to leave them alone in exchange for treasure. So I do because I didn't want to attack them in the first place, not realizing it's going to lock me out of the Yurgir thing. And then when I finally find the magic circle with the candles the quest autocompletes and I have to look it up on the wiki to figure out why cause I thought it was glitched somehow, and then I realize what I did. To be fair I might have still chosen not to bother the rats if I'd done it in the right order and still fucked it up. I do create separate saves regularly so I could theoretically just load an old save, but seeing on the wiki that helping him gets you no unique loot, while killing him gets you a crossbow, so screw it, I'm not replaying just to get nothing out of it. I already missed out on some cool gloves by being too nice. And honestly after looking around seeing the corpses I was decidedly less keen on helping Yurgir. So I guess I'll just go ahead and kill him. I was okay with displeasing Astarion and saving that for a different playthrough since I barely use him except when I need to steal something, but I suppose this will make him happy too so my fuckup probably resulted in more upsides than downsides. The only question now is when to kill Balthazar. But I'll figure that out for myself, and if you don't see me again then I was satisfied with my choice.
