It's not that bad. It has the damage profile of an AR (and a 7.62x39 AR at that, not even a 5.56 one) but the ADS time/sprint recovery/hipfire of a carbine, and with very good recoil variation so it's easy to shoot at long range too. ROF is bad but it three shots up close so its time to kill still isn't bad. It's overall very good as long as you can deal with the shit magsize. Though that's a huge drawback so a lot of people very reasonably don't want to.

its a catch 22 scenario. when im flying a transport all of my gunners are blind as shit, 9 out of 10 gunners will never get a kill. meanwhile when i spawn in a transport, pilots fly them low and slow so they're easy to hit with everything on the other team. you'll never get any good angles like that, i've yet to see one good pub pilot in the transport heli. i've only seen maybe 3 good transport pilots in total BUT they were always playing as a duo with their own gunner.

This is a problem that DICE has created for themselves by making too many things spot you, fire any unsupressed gun and you’re going to have five people beelining to your location to kill you. Not revealing yourself on the map is always going to be better than recoil compensation, and they would have to make suppressors make your rifle completely useless before people would stop putting them on because of that.
