Die for Me is trickier to use however, since you need a Pandemonic Feast setup to make the most of it.

That mitama dlc is a massive mistake.
I kept it on thinking it would be fine as long as I didn't use the level up items but the amount of those things is so high that it's hard to find local demons and the exp they give is pretty high.
By the time I unlocked fusion I was already level 12.
I turned them all off but I'm almost tempted to restart the game, though I'm sure it will balance itself out after a while with all overworld enemies running away from me.

I'm starting to appreciate SMT 2 a lot more. I played it during our SMT /plays/ and I was meh on it but it's starting to really get to me now. I think out of all SMT games, it's most deserving for a remake or remaster. (I honestly think SMT1 aged better). The plot and environments were pretty cool, I'm still a bit wtf is your problem Satan/Zayin. I just feel like the whole plot was underutilized and you just bump into everything until the game's over. SMT3 was sorta similar too where things happen around you but it felt more designed around it while all of your friends start to get their "reason".

Envy IS confusing I'll admit, but, I got through it just fine without a guide. Took me like, about an hour-ish, give or take.
Sloth fucking sucks, because even with popping Estoma and running back and forth in a hallway with fast forward, it still takes TOO LONG.
It's not just long, it's boring too. Seriously, look me in the eye, and tell me, seriously tell me that you think that only getting to progress through the dungeon when the game decides is a good gimmick.

Forgot to add in SMT 1 there are some temples that each house 3 treasure chests that only give you the best goodies under that particular moon cycle (which is specified and might as well just look up at the guide for the maximum value) and in 2 and if... you got golden and silver chests that can only be opened during full moon to get jewelries but that's it i think?

It was stupid that the moon cycle didn't really mean shit because V is supposed to be a world that experiences conception. On one hand Kagutsuchi is dead so that explains why there is no angry head in the sky but the game makes it pretty evident that Goko is Kagutsuchi's replacement. He brings light to your world so that means he's been controlling the moon cycles but you do nothing with him. You can't even kill him. It's a waste.

Does anyone else feel like SMT 2's plot just kinda... stops and meanders at certain points? Like, the part where you gotta collect Masakado's body parts and revive him right after Abbadon swallows Valhalla. Obviously, the game needs some way to introduce you to the underground communities and stuff, but... it more so feels like a side quest you tackle to pass the time while the plot picks back.
Or, how about Moloch's tail cropping in Holytown, sucking the life force out of people, where you then later see him in the Makai overworld map and... do nothing about it.
Just a lot of stuff that doesn't seem to amount to much, or, gets dropped off entirely.

Had an idea once like a SMT1 style dungeon crawler roguelike with choosable origins so like demon summoner, demi-fiend, atma avatar, persona. NO idea how to balance the different origins. Persona would probably be the most OP if you use their rules because you could swap movesets/affinities and still use equipment.

Moon phases need other mechanics to make sense. It's a system to force variation and shake things up. DS/SH try this by having moon phase affect all demon strength on a per race basis, so things won't always one-shot like you're used to.

Consider negotiation. You can negotiate out of battle if you've recruited a demon already EXCEPT during full moons. So the strategy of talking your way out isn't always valid. Similarly, you can't normally recruit dark demons but in Nocturne, but sometimes you can during full moons. IV onwards gut a lot of mechanics, so dark/light don't mean anything. V carries that forward, so you end up with totally perfunctory moonphases that at best jumpscare you with that one full moon SFX.

SMTIV/V don't have random encounters and I don't VI will, but I guess one way would be to change which enemies aggro and how intensely based on moonphase. It's too easy to just avoid encounters you don't want as is - having an enemy outrun you on full moon might work. Other then that, they just need more mechanics so they can have friction.

I really don't think Sega has any major impact on what Atlus wants to do. Maybe they cracked the whip on going multiplatform, but I'm not sure. The winds have been blowing that way for some time now. 8th gen feels like the last hurrah of arbitrary console exclusives when you're not getting a big check from a first party. Even Vanillaware is dipping their toes into PC now.
If Sega had absolute control over Atlus's affairs, I think they would've pushed Persona 6 onto Hoshino rather than allowing Metaphor to be made.

No, what we know now it seems to be Kaneko was pushing for making mobile games and for whatever reason Atlus resisted. Something happened between them, Kaneko gave up all the rights to his art to Atlus, and he then left the company.

The reason "no one wanted to hire him" wasn't because his art was "outdated" (Yoshitako Amano still gets work), but because Kaneko specifically wanted to break into the mobile gaming world and failed to until ColoPL.
