That mitama dlc is a massive mistake.I kept it on thinking it would be fine as long as I didn't use the level up items but the amount of those things is so high that it's hard to find local demons and the exp they give is pretty high.By the time I unlocked fusion I was already level 12.I turned them all off but I'm almost tempted to restart the game, though I'm sure it will balance itself out after a while with all overworld enemies running away from me.

Holy fuck why did nobody tell me NINE was a gnosticism game true neutral has fucking sophia reveal herself to the mc
>>571668609Literally no one played NINE since it was stranded on xbox. And for a fucking long time, no one cared about xbox emulation.
>>571668609SMTVV also has a bunch of references to NINE as it's the second most gnostic smt game itself.
>>571668609this is like the only info people usually have on the game anon, since neutral-neutral is one of the two translated routes
>>571669779How many routes are there? 9?
>>571670876i think so? your alignment varies between light-neutral-dark and law-neutral-chaos - i assume they all have their own peculiaritiesi beat the game last week and i'm not even sure of what ending i had, besides "a law one"

>>571625686VV specifically, there's V stuff yeah
>>571670876Theres 3 major routes law, neutral and chaos, while the dark-neutral-light spectrum has minor dialogue/event changes according to the wiki with the most notable being sophia staying as a disugised human on light and dark neutral
I'm starting to appreciate SMT 2 a lot more. I played it during our SMT /plays/ and I was meh on it but it's starting to really get to me now. I think out of all SMT games, it's most deserving for a remake or remaster. (I honestly think SMT1 aged better). The plot and environments were pretty cool, I'm still a bit wtf is your problem Satan/Zayin. I just feel like the whole plot was underutilized and you just bump into everything until the game's over. SMT3 was sorta similar too where things happen around you but it felt more designed around it while all of your friends start to get their "reason".
>>571668609All of Megaten is gnostic, pretty much.
>people complaining about world of sloth when you can just fast forward and loopy de loop>mfw World of Envy>mfw SCHOOLREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE PLAY IF YOU FUCKERSSSSSS SUFFER WITH ME
>>571680596>set the game on easy so you only spend half of sloth's back and forth>play it with a guidemfw
>>571680871wait i swear easy locked you out of something or I might be thinking of something else. Even with a guide Envy is fucking annoying.
>>571681857i haven't heard such thing, i still managed to get hinokagutsuchi and that's the only thing that matters
about to play #Fe what kind of cringe and/or kino should i expect from the gameplay and story
>>571684993from my understanding you should buy tons of attack mirror because even in easy, the bosses still can oneshot you because funny
They're obviously doing this to build brand awareness for the third game they've all but confirmed that they're making, but it's kind of incredible just how far the OG Atlus gods fell off practically as soon as they left the company. Tadashi was barely involved in this project past the first game even
Alright here's my lastJust less than 1 day to go before villion code is cominggggg
Is there any demon you wouldnt mind if Doi redesigned?
>>571698401i wouldnt mind seeing Alice get the doi treatment to see what his take would be like
>>571698639Popular demon will mostly stay the same based on his jack frost "redesign"
>>571698639While i do enjoy seeing alternative version of things i think doing the more popular designs is a bad idea specially with a "this is what we are going forward with" mentality.I was thinking more on the lines of stuff you dont really hate or even dislike but also wouldnt mind "seeing it go".
>>571698639Me too because it would send Avery into a fit like the Raidou remake announcement.

>>571689186If it’s on Switch 1 or Pc, I might get it. It’s made by compile heart too so maybe it’ll be decent? If it’s trash I dunno what to feel

>Just got to the Satan Fight in SMTVV>Decide on a strategy after some failures>Get a somewhat decent run going for once>Megidolaon, Yabusame Shot, Megidolaon, Yabusame ShotIs this fight just if the RNG decides to fuck you over there's nothing you can do?
>>571709386Considering you need Enduring soul or potentially lose turn one, yeah it's RNG the fight.
>>571709386Satan becomes much easier once you start abusing his plunder gimmick, yabusame is still bullshit
>>571680596Envy IS confusing I'll admit, but, I got through it just fine without a guide. Took me like, about an hour-ish, give or take.Sloth fucking sucks, because even with popping Estoma and running back and forth in a hallway with fast forward, it still takes TOO LONG.It's not just long, it's boring too. Seriously, look me in the eye, and tell me, seriously tell me that you think that only getting to progress through the dungeon when the game decides is a good gimmick.
>>571716203it's whatever fast forward and vibe. At least you KNOW you're making progress. Envy IS SUCH A PAIN IN THE ASS and the last dungeon is ASSer
>>571716259genuinely, just look up maps.
I like it when the game inanely makes you unable to check the comp to see the automap
>>571717784No comp zones
>>571717784guess you don't have mapper/map orbs?
>>571720347I was just by myself since the heroine got kidnapped so no one with a mapper (also idk what map orb is)

>>571722449I played in JP so that kind of thing was missable for my shitty ass nipponese skill
Among SMT games, I feel Nocturne is the game that utilized moon cycle the most>it affects the content of the chest>it affects the type of fusion you can do>there's a specific boss that you can only properly beat during full moon>if you equip your demons with dark might or bright might, you can auto crit during that particular moon cycle and it's crucial for bosses that have no weakness so you can at least get 1-2 more turns depending how many demons (or yourself) that equip itMost other games only have>you can't communicate with the demons when it's full moon>for DDS the items you sell get you the best price during full moon>at least in If... some bosses do hit the weakest during new moon i think? I only got to know this from a playthrough video thoughMeanwhile they wiped that out from IV and when it did come back in V, it's still the same bare minimum feature. How would you make moon cycle relevant again?
>>571728503Forgot to add in SMT 1 there are some temples that each house 3 treasure chests that only give you the best goodies under that particular moon cycle (which is specified and might as well just look up at the guide for the maximum value) and in 2 and if... you got golden and silver chests that can only be opened during full moon to get jewelries but that's it i think?Does SJ even have that?
>>571728503The moon cycle was also part of the plot itself.
I only remember moon cycle being relevant in V during that Amanozako's sidequest where the battle against her evil side only happened after you waited until full moon then talked to her.
>>571730672It was stupid that the moon cycle didn't really mean shit because V is supposed to be a world that experiences conception. On one hand Kagutsuchi is dead so that explains why there is no angry head in the sky but the game makes it pretty evident that Goko is Kagutsuchi's replacement. He brings light to your world so that means he's been controlling the moon cycles but you do nothing with him. You can't even kill him. It's a waste.
>>571728503>it affects the content of the chestHated that shit, running in circle around the chest is just a waste of time.
https://store-jp.nintendo.com/item/software/D70010000106566It is out
Does anyone else feel like SMT 2's plot just kinda... stops and meanders at certain points? Like, the part where you gotta collect Masakado's body parts and revive him right after Abbadon swallows Valhalla. Obviously, the game needs some way to introduce you to the underground communities and stuff, but... it more so feels like a side quest you tackle to pass the time while the plot picks back.Or, how about Moloch's tail cropping in Holytown, sucking the life force out of people, where you then later see him in the Makai overworld map and... do nothing about it.Just a lot of stuff that doesn't seem to amount to much, or, gets dropped off entirely.
>>571734523oh yeah, Japonrees onry...
>>571728503If moonphase had more of an impact it could easily get super annoying because the only way to change it is to run in circles a bunch. I'm fine with it being just gem chests
have you ever thought of making a smt fangame or writing a not-smt story?
>>571755532
>>571756638I just write SMT smut
>>571740521why did you ignore my smt2 post :(it's why I like SMT1 more though.
>>571756638>have you ever thought of making a smt fangameYes, but every demon is Alice
>>571765562Now that I think about it the Amala Network really does kind of feel like the Backrooms of Nocturne
Anyone else noticed that the anons that were begging for a Switch 2 port of VV are now quiet after what Sega pulled with Sonic Frontiers DE?
>>571756638I had thought of a SMT story that's based more around conspiracies. There's a ton of those conceptual demons around it like Chemtrails. Think like, every conspiracy is true and demons are behind every one of them.
>>571768146No because I didn't even associate the two.
>>571758113I finished SMT2 but i didnt care much about the story sorry
>>571758113I genuinely did not catch that post, my bad.
>>571756638Had an idea once like a SMT1 style dungeon crawler roguelike with choosable origins so like demon summoner, demi-fiend, atma avatar, persona. NO idea how to balance the different origins. Persona would probably be the most OP if you use their rules because you could swap movesets/affinities and still use equipment.
>>571772527I just pretty much said the same things you did lol
>>571769320You should, since it's a clear indicator how a hypothetical SMT VV Switch 2 port would even be like
>>571782335Except no one is asking for a port just an update to increase the fps and resolution.
>>571775574>you use their rules because you could swap movesets/affinities and still use equipment.that's called soul hackers 2
>>571709386Same anon as this one. Just beat him with possibly the dumbest of ass strategies of all time.>Gaea Rage and Luminescent Mirage>Use Demi-fiend like an all around support, Chaotic Will, Deadly Fury, Medariama whenever each one is needed>Spam Gaea rage every turn on Naho and Mirage on inbetweenIt was a slog, I don't have a timer but it felt like eternity and I used up every single Bead chain, Soma and Chakra item I had. I just can't believe my neanderthal ass strategy of HIT BIG AOE worked on hard.It all returns to STR doesn't it. Every time.
>>571728503Moon phases need other mechanics to make sense. It's a system to force variation and shake things up. DS/SH try this by having moon phase affect all demon strength on a per race basis, so things won't always one-shot like you're used to.Consider negotiation. You can negotiate out of battle if you've recruited a demon already EXCEPT during full moons. So the strategy of talking your way out isn't always valid. Similarly, you can't normally recruit dark demons but in Nocturne, but sometimes you can during full moons. IV onwards gut a lot of mechanics, so dark/light don't mean anything. V carries that forward, so you end up with totally perfunctory moonphases that at best jumpscare you with that one full moon SFX.SMTIV/V don't have random encounters and I don't VI will, but I guess one way would be to change which enemies aggro and how intensely based on moonphase. It's too easy to just avoid encounters you don't want as is - having an enemy outrun you on full moon might work. Other then that, they just need more mechanics so they can have friction.

>>571795045>jumpscare you with that one full moon SFX.Don't forget it also changes the theme of the Cathedral of shadows
Like I said in the previous thread, I kinda would like it, for some strange reason, if they added Slenderman as a demon since Mothman is already in. If they're afraid of some copyright issues or think it would be too weird, they could also go with the variant from early lore called Der Ritter.
>>571804889Doi's Slenderman will be wearing Doi's bodysuit/armor with swirls

HOLY SHIT Kaneko just dropped a massive lore bomb for Nocturne on twitter.>Actually, Nocturne isn't the "true" Shin Megami Tensei III; it’s more of a prequel. That’s why it bears the subtitle "Nocturne".>The full truth was supposed to be revealed in the actual Shin Megami Tensei IIISMT III was supposed to be a 2 part game. Is that what V turned into? Did they write the premise for it and just weren't able to execute it? Did Yamai write it with Kaneko? Did they resurrect it with SMTV? Is that actually what fucking happened?
>>571817185Also the "full truth" he's referring to is the truth behind conception. Someone had asked him about it because how the conception started in III confused him and that was Kaneko's answer.
Also I saw a post where Kaneko said he would love a collab with his Tsukuyomi game and Dx2.You can't make this shit up. He really said this. Fucker why did you leave Atlus?
True Shin Megami Tensei...
>>571819715his drawing didn't age well i didn't want to imagine modern SMT with his art, i imagine one of the reasons why he left is atlus started to move him away from doing more character designs.
>>571782335I really don't think Sega has any major impact on what Atlus wants to do. Maybe they cracked the whip on going multiplatform, but I'm not sure. The winds have been blowing that way for some time now. 8th gen feels like the last hurrah of arbitrary console exclusives when you're not getting a big check from a first party. Even Vanillaware is dipping their toes into PC now.If Sega had absolute control over Atlus's affairs, I think they would've pushed Persona 6 onto Hoshino rather than allowing Metaphor to be made.
>>571813497 I just left that server like 3 days ago.. what a shame..
>>571825161No, what we know now it seems to be Kaneko was pushing for making mobile games and for whatever reason Atlus resisted. Something happened between them, Kaneko gave up all the rights to his art to Atlus, and he then left the company. The reason "no one wanted to hire him" wasn't because his art was "outdated" (Yoshitako Amano still gets work), but because Kaneko specifically wanted to break into the mobile gaming world and failed to until ColoPL.https://automaton-media.com/en/news/shin-megami-tensei-artist-kazuma-kaneko-reveals-he-left-atlus-10-years-ago-to-pursue-mobile-game-development/>Moving to development for handheld consoles wasn’t “it” for Kaneko either, as he was eager to make games that use network connectivity and the latest technology of smartphones. “My previous company had titles that incorporated online features and tech, but I never got the chance to work on those projects. That’s part of why I was looking for an environment where I could actually do the kind of work I wanted to do.”
https://www.gematsu.com/2026/06/kazuma-kanekos-tsukuyomi-coming-to-pc-on-july-24By next month you can play Kazuma Kaneko's Tsukuyomi on PCVillion code when? How come a game from a smaller company already made its english version available
>>571834326IMO, and since we also know that he likes money, he probably heard of how gacha were money makers and wanted a part of the pie.Sadly for him, the market is oversaturated and gacha gained a (deserved) reputation of being skinner boxes.
>>571837958>Not available in my regionHuh? Eurobro? Is that the same thing for you?
>>571838171Werks for me (im in SEA btw)
>>571834326>and for whatever reason Atlus resistedand now they're making Dx2 and P5X anyway>and failed to until ColoPLnah there was probably a do-not-compete clause too, it doesn't take 10+ years to find a job even at a mobile game company>>571838024Tsukuyomi wasn't particularly focused on gacha, and his talk of smartphone games is specifically about network connectivity. Tsukuyomi DID have features where the community could interact with each other and him (the 'vote for ai card designs so i redraw them' thing), so "he's gacha-addicted" isn't very convincing.
