It makes perfect sense for the plot to establish this threat in a way that makes it feel real and will make the later Titan fights not need to grind the pace to a halt so Ralsei and the UI can explain what a Titan is and how you fight one.

I feel like you can draw connections to a player constantly reseting and reloading a game with the painting text from chapter 4's egg, since it describes repeating the same motions over and over, randomly stopping and restarting, going in different directions, and it ends in the repeated attempts giving an instinctual understanding of how to do it.
