I'm not even a weird route player but chapter 6 being completely absent with chapter 5 being just a speedrun feels way too lame.I could understand Undertale's Genocide Route being shorter because it was more of a proof of concept, and it also had good bosses. But here it feels like Chapter 7 is going to be a boss rush against the monsters in the light world, Gaster showing up and saying some shit like "VERY INTERESTING" and you're kicked to the main menu.

We are five chapters in, yet it feels like there has been minimal meaningful progression in the plot. Deltarune feels like all of Toby’s most self indulgent tendencies given spotlight. I was already of the opinion that some of Undertales writing and humor had aged poorly, and Deltarune doubles down on that. Everything is setup and sprinkles here and there, but with nothing of any real significance happening. Half the time it feels like Toby is more concerned with writing his next quirky Tumblr sexy man to sell merch of than he is in actually progressing the storyline.
