Does anyone else worry that they're just getting too old to enjoy this sort of quirky child-like story?Just a consequence of the game being in development for so long, I guess.The ending still left me feeling like I might cry, but the rest of the experience just felt hollow. The laughs were better than chapter 3 at least, and there were a few pieces of story that got spelled out that you'd only know if you spent the last eight years digging into every little detail.Also, the prospect of going through the festival again makes me just want to crawl in bed and hope I wake up in a Dark World instead. Noelle is adorable and all, but I just can't get behind her and Susie being a thing. It's just too poorly written, especially at the start in chapter 2. If Toby can go back and retroactively change how Noelle and Susie interact there, then it could have been great.

Mysterious characters like the evil murderous Asgore, or the kind and beloved King Dreemurr would be an endless well of debate. How disappointed would people be that Flowey isn't an ever present threat constantly popping in to critique our saves and reloads, or to just try and fight us each chapter. Imagine the unsatisfying payoff when we only learn the story of one single human, and not the other six that fell in before us. Imagine how unsatisfying it would be if you waited for the followup to Waterfall with it's serene atmosphere and heavy story of war and sacrifice, was a silly robot who runs a bunch of TV shows while some crazy anxious nerd won't stop texting you. Oh and don't forget, the nerd is also in gay love with the fish, and one of the spare minigames is to set up a gay couple together. Genuinely good chapter. Not the best but above average. Probably the best gameplay of the series so far, the new twists were very welcome. I absolutely love Green and the little cyan porn magnet girl. Asgore getting serious respectable scenes and not being treated as a joke at all was already more than I was expecting out of the chapter, I was prepping myself for him to be a loser you're supposed to pity the whole time. What if there's some fucked up shit in the Shelter that would destroy the world if opened and their plan is to use Dark Worlds to covertly kidnap everyone who could possibly know the Shelter Code (besides Carol who is already in on the plan) so nobody could ever leave the Shelter open the Shelter and endanger the world?
