But also as a former enstars player, think it's still going strong through a combo of sunk cost fallacy + oldfags being nostalgic about the early era stories (which was on the higher end for idolslop, but since then quality has gone downhill + has made a lot of decisions that pissed certain parts of the fanbase off) + Enstars constantly pumping out new content.

Like objectively enstars clears in the amount of new stuff it gives players. New events ~every 2 weeks with full MVs and new songs, twst could never.

I'm wondering more about how twst earns that much sometimes outside of those big events. I love its slower release schedule, every new content and main story update actually feels like a big event instead of being overwhelmed like I do in other games but I've been purely f2p all these years. I got all the cards I want and still 20k+ gems. I find myself asking what are people spending on here more than why enstars is still earning that much. Are people just dumping money on twst as a thank you because I get it if they are, at this point I feel like I'm robbing Yana

Honestly I'm asking myself that every day. Little to no events + releasing tonight of cards that don't even have stories attached (club, overblot...) = any other game would have EOS long before now. Plus you're right if you have like one or two oshis you get more than enough gems naturally to pull for his birthday card which sometimes can be the only new content he'll get for the year.

Either it's managed to attract Yana / Disneyfag megawhales who are sticking around because of sunk cost OR Disney is heavily subsidising their most successful mobage franchise to keep itself relevant with the JP and US Disney adults with spending money.

(Appealing to the US Disney adults is probably why Europe's being ignored because the only Disneyland over their is in the hands of the french)

You know how host clubs used to do that thing where they would advertise which of their hosts earn the most? And instead of going "Holy shit, my favorite guy is a total slut, he doesn't need my money if he's getting that much from other women, I'm taking my wallet somewhere else," ladies would instead empty their bank accounts to contribute and make sure that their favorite host made as much money as possible? And it got so bad that they institute a rule that the clubs can't publicize host earnings anymore? That's what the mobage earnings rankings always remind me of. People see enstars over Twst and most of the time it's like "well yeah that's enstars, number 1 host" but then we get into Twst's big months, like Halloween and anniversary, and it turns into "fuck enstars if they think they're gonna beat my Twst on its own birthday I don't even want any fucking cards but they can have three months of my salary anyway, Number 1 Host Twisted Wonderland."

Really these days the only GREAT content is the main story and like the first years worth of events (Halloween 1+2, glomas, ghost bride, wishing star, fairy gala). Everything else is either a solid meh to hot garbage.

And also we don't get MUCH content either because we get a main story update every 6 months if we're lucky, and multiple months between events. Events which these days are 90% referenceslop.

Honestly if the JP sisters weren't paying tribute like you describe, then JP would have to go that way too in order to keep the lights on.

Sure twst isn't spamming you with events but lack of new content = lack of things to spend in game. Why is why EN is in constant rerun hell and sped up the event timeline, in order to keep the EN revenue stream up and players who aren't content with deepthroating Yana playing.

The fact that some EN reruns are 3 deep now really highlights the content drought which somehow JP is content to deal with. (Though I am seeing grumbles here and there now that the "sorry COVID please understand" is getting more flimsy by the year)

I still think that EN functions like they have the "you might EOS next quarter, we're not saying you will but we're not saying you won't" threat over their heads. They're constantly pushing as much as physically possible as fast as physically possible even after the well dried up, but but it's not like JP was promising constant updates and then pulled the rug out from under them or something. EN had YEARS of reference for JP. They KNEW the pace. They KNEW this was going to happen, and they did it anyway. It reminds me of the last hurrah that mobage do before they go under in order to get as much money out of their clueless fanbase as possible. I'm not saying they're gonna EOS cause that's a stupid-ass rumor based on nothing, I'm just saying that that is how they've been functioning for four years now and it's never made any sense. No one has a right to the pikachu face, we all saw this coming. They could've had a more laid back release schedule to match JP from the start, attracting people that prefer a more laid back pace, but instead they did stuff like releasing Book 6 in only TWO gigantic parts when it had been split into like six sections on JP, attracting people who like fast-paced games like enstars and driving off people who like a more relaxed game like how Twst actually is. And I don't know why.

Nah if EN stuck to the OG JP timeline they would have definitely EOS, because a lack of content would have them losing all of the players who didn't that didn't migrate over from JP (aka curious tourists who only picked it up because lol Disney prettyboy gender end game). Because, let's face it, the base gameplay loop is as fun as watching paint dry.

At least with going strong right out of the gate they had a better chance of these types of EN players latching into an oshi. Granted I think they went a tad too fast but they had speed thins up to get those tourists invested in the first few cruical years.

Also YOU personally may like laid back gacha games but to be honest a vast majority expect games they put money towards to be putting out a schedule like enstars, especially players who aren't old hag wageslaves like I am.

That does explain a lot. This exact debate came up even on jp during the early years I was there to witness it until people started noticing most of the ones that were complaining were students and the ones who weren't were working adults. I even remember the comparisons to mhyk releases back then and people glazing how fast mhyk was releasing content but guess which game got another boost in popularity lately and people paying voluntarily because of how satisfied they were with the big ending of a main story arc, not mhyk for sure. I agree on some points like I miss those better events but also very torn on dumping more work on Yana, main story quality is definitely much better than it was at the beginning and that's where they seem to be focusing her on. Would kill for more gosumari and glomas quality events though. At the end of the day twst is catering for that working adult audience and we have to remember that
