Silver being related to the future was a very 2000-esque thing. Back then stuff like The Matrix and other pop icon and specific global events gave the collective impression that the future would be much like then current architecture slowly being covered with chromium gold and silver as machine and AI interfaces slowly grew more integral. This cultural idea still survives to this day in stuff like iphone and general modern day touch screen phone designs as they originated in that era.Nowadays it feels disconnected because most people envision a much more apocalyptic view of the future.
