I was thinking really hard while showering why none of the flowers stood out to me during my play-through, and I came to the conclusion that it MIGHT be mostly because of their designs. All the other darkners are so wacky looking and then you got this bunch of humanoids- which is the point, but it doesn't click for me. Maybe it made their already one-note personalities more obvious? I dunno, felt like this chapter really wanted me to like these guys, but I wasn't too into them besides some few cute scenes and funny bits.

Like your base that you can return to between doing other stuff, probably in a more opened-up map. I just finished main route and weird route.I can't believe I'm saying this but chapter 5 felt like filler in context of 3-4. We learned so little about anybody but Ralsei. I mean, Seth and Aqua are good characters, but they don't "matter" to the nearly decade of Deltarune canon existing so far, the stuff we wanted answers to.Just kinda feel apathetic which makes me sad.I didn't even finish the secret boss yet. That was the first moment that REALLY took the wind out of my sails. I was horrified by early Flowery, but in a good way. The secret boss being Mewmew idol Jpop dating sim wank, and spending PURPLE SOUL ON THAT-- I really can't believe that. So much emphasis earlier in the game on 'strings' as a motif (puppet strings, GUITAR STRINGS) and we're not using the 'strings' soul for a boss that matters to the story? And basically zero FRIEND in the literal "field of pink and gold" chapter. Don't call it that if you don't wanna disappoint people lol. Egg room is a downgrade back to ch1-2. Man I'm really disappointed to be typing this out at all. I wonder if others feel the way I do or if I'm an outlier. I imagine /v/ is just crying about Suselle being canon. (Although, yes, Susie saying they need to tell Noelle at the end of Side A instead of Carol is an LOL moment. Like no, Side A Noelle is not useful for you in this fight, as far as Susie knows. I seriously thought she was gonna say they need to ask Carol. Oh man.)I see why he wanted to release 3-5 together because it basically comprises the arc establishing the trend of Knight kidnapping people and Kris enabling it. I probably would feel more positively about the package if these came out together. But for how the actual release went, I expected some answers after 3-4 and we basically got nothing. I think Dess's name is only even mentioned on Weird route, by Noelle saying she wants to move on from her.

I took the day off today to play deltarune chapter 5 and1.Holy smokes the normal route is long2. holy crackers the weird route is shortI thought everything was pretty good but I found it hard to go back and go coin hunting for those items after defeating the schizo boss (can we even call them that any more? Gerson and MewMew were pretty sane.) so I simply didnt. Ended up buying those specs that let invincibility last for a little longer and couldn't afford anything else. All in all starwalker had some pretty good scenes, I do wish he wasn't the princess at the start of the chapter though. That felt like a little bit too much starwalker.Also I am fucking glad I finally got to see Ralsei in his Iconic™ Hat™ again. Why the hell does he hate it so much? Am I the only one who got emotional at the part where you say goodbye to the flowers? I was all laughs and giggles just moments earlier because of all the funny shit that happened in the chapter. I thought it was going to be a very quick and unremarkable moment where you talk to them and they say 2 lines at most then you move on with business.But then I talked to Aqua, read what she had to say and got to the "Thank you for watching my dream!" and it instantly gave me a lump in my throat and made me have to take a deep breath to not get teary eyed.Fuck, I loved them all so much and their dynamics. They were easily a chapter highlight for me. They are definitely some of my favorite characters in the game.

I would never have guessed in a million years that this could happen, but this chapter broke my remaining confidence in Toby's writing and direction. The Flower King dark world was so pointless and such a mixed bag of quality that I regret playing it at all. I literally wish I played the weird route as my only playthrough instead so I could skip the entire chapter and the entire next one, because fuck it, I don't trust them to make good dark worlds anymore where important shit actually happens in reasonable amounts of time and interesting plot developments aren't tossed on the back burner in favor of sating Toby's audience's unquenchable hunger for bad yuri, bad yaoi, second helpings of bad yaoi, introducing new characters with no personality outside of being queer, and filling the entire chapter with "'member Undertale?" bits that come off as cheap at best and sometimes achieve nothing except making Deltarune worse by inviting comparison to Undertale.

I don't feel like the Weird Route adding flags to your saves for Side B is going to end up bricking your save. In fact, I think it will be necessary to have on your saves to be able to beat the game.I really doubt that Toby is going to retread the exact same ground as the Genocide route for the Weird Route and punish you for playing it. It would completely erase the entire point of telling us at every turn "your choices don't matter" and "the prophecy is set in motion no matter how mean or nice you are!"
