So because of that, I subconsciously have this "Sonic = Sun, Knuckles = Moon" theme etched in my brain more or less, but it doesn't feel as "strong" as it is for Axel and Saix, because Sonic & Knuckles are color-swapped by comparison, and Sonic represents the Wind and being "Cool" which feels too antithetical to being as hot and fiery as the sun. Knuckles is red with fire powers as well as earth, so again, the moon theme feels antithetical to that. Because the moon is tied to the ocean, water, and stuff like that. But regardless of all that, the symbolism is still part of their characters anyway on some level, so whatever. If anything, the fact that Blaze embodies the sun theme so overtly, makes it feel like Blaze is like the "other side" of Sonic's symbolic nature or whatever.

You all seem to feel like Amy's personality has been watered down from a bubbly expressive young girl to a simplistic "good girl" archetype, stating how her love of sonic being less outward diminished a core aspect of her character. This coupled with altered cutscenes from SXSG that tone down her interactions with knuckles and sonic. Tbh i don't agree with this sentiment, quite the opposite in fact. I'd say her character in frontiers/idw is the perfect natural progression for her character. Amy's always been one to help others in their time of need from the flickie in SA1, to shadow in SA2 to even blaze and emeral so her taking on the "Motherly role" of the group makes perfect sense. Even her hobbies like baking go hand and hand with her nature. The same holds true with her emotional expression. Some amy fans feel that because she seemingly isn't as feisty or passionate about sonic as she use to that sega is trying to erase her personality, to me this just feels like amy mellowed out a bit. Her antics from the previous games are charming but the writers fell into a habit of that being Amy's only trait and it got tiresome. The idea of amy growing out of the habit of having sonic on her mind constantly gives her opportunity to be her own hero and puts sonic in a better position to examine his own feelings (Which he does have for her). Plus it stil allows her to have her own strong emotions. Ultimately modern amy feels like instead of running after sonic she's running beside him. She's still tough, she's still caring she's still spicy she's great.

>>572003539Yeah I don't think they were quite there with it and it's pretty clear even they weren't confident with the way they designed some of the levels (Sir Percival vs the clock level comes to mind) but I do kinda think there could have been something there, at least as an alternative to to the main series gameplay. >>572007793Not the person you're responding to but I genuinely like that scene. It's very representative of their dynamic. Amy comes on so strong and Sonic's not into it but he doesn't hate her so much that he'd actively push her away or run away from her. He simply keeps her in check. And honestly the visual is good physical comedy. The replaced scene is much worse, where she's holding (probably handmade) cupcakes for his birthday (pink and blue) and he just ignores her completely. At least in the original scene he's acknowledging her. Besides, they're still happily chatting after, so it's not like either one is upset (even if Amy was comically frustrated).
