Immobile EditionThe Wheel has turned once againDominions is a fantasy turn-based war game created by two dudes. One of them is a teacher. The game combines a simple presentation with an extremely wide array of strategic options, including over 3400 units, 1100 spells and 400 magic items. Turns are resolved simultaneously, with players planning battles rather than directly controlling them. It has simplistic graphics but is easily moddable and extremely deep.Basically, it's an autist’s wet dream of a war game.>Our pastebin (extremely outdated)https://pastebin.com/wjbSA98Y>Steamgrouphttps://steamcommunity.com/groups/vanheimageofvidya>Multiplayer guide/game hosting services>Hinaserver https://arch.b4k.dev/vg/thread/548312356/#548526452https://hinaserver.net>Blitzserverhttps://blitzserver.net(Dom 6)https://beta.blitzserver.net/games>Llamaserver:https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1212948582>Documentationhttps://illwinter.com/dom6/docs.html>Tools>Mod inspectorhttps://larzm42.github.io/dom6inspector/>Wikihttps://illwiki.com/>Pretender calculatorhttps://zollqir.github.io/pretenders-dom6/https://caleb-distributive.github.io/pretenders-dom6/ (website down?)>Debug modhttps://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3083231618>Communion fatigue calculator (still dom5)https://instacalc.com/53495>Automatically prevent starts in all provinces with less than X connections (still dom5)https://nixx.is-fantabulo.us/dom5ranmapnos/>How do I change the fonts?Replace guifont.ttf, guifont_fancy.ttf and guifont_texty.ttf in the game's 'data' folder (C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Dominions6\data)>Fan arthttps://thronebooru.booru.org>Sloop’s Comfy Balance Modhttps://docs.google.com/document/d/1zeDyK8Zb_p4lIJ0yp3a3ikMprRkmBCWvy31_4jBen3Q/edit?usp=sharing>other asynchronous strategy gamesSolium Infernum.Previous Pantokrator>>571445431
I wonder how much volatile the arena is going to get by the time all the imprisoned tendies are up.
>>572073168Doubtful
I can't believe Belphegor's fucking dead
>>572072321Alright I did a little light reading and I need to know. Can I use cloud trapeze on irminsul or not? I don’t want to give him astral because he’ll get magic duelled and die and I need a specific nature bless
>>572073506Shit I should exploited him more
>>572073506Rip fatso
>>572076745If you don't have map move you can't use cloud trapeze. I think teleport is the only movement spell that works for immobile stuff?
https://hinaserver.net/game/60https://hinaserver.net/game/61Two new modded MA games! Big maps for many players. Let’s make some chaos! In 6 hours, I will pick my nation
>>572072321I will maker her a mother of six
>>572079893Any chance of adding Nys into the Sturm game? It's explicitly compatible and I wanna see the dinosaurs.
>>572073168>tfw I've got just a normal guy as pretender>>572073506I had a plan. Go straight to charisma 6 for the "keep two scrolls", then go full for scrolls to spam machines and inflate my basic legion with all the training scrolls.Turns out you can only give a legion as many scrolls as its level, though.
>>572085971Holy fug
>TURN 13 OF THE ARENAKailasa tried their best, but their small frontline was quickly overwhelmed.Second point for Lanka!
>>572084171gotta check if the versions are compatible. I tried updating it, but it refuses to go higher than 0.39.
>>572087489I believe in the good monkeys
hinaserver admin, it is me again. Nys Nations is outdated, the current workshop version, 0.45, has a new nation. I tried updating it but it wouldn't let me
>>572087489Killed 2 turns of sacreds for 3 turns of mage recruits, not great. Should've scripted my Yakshas to retreat as I need them to thug . . .
>>572076745You can't cloud trapeze if you have no legs.Teleport only, Fairy Trod might work though for irminsul? I forget
>>572087808>>572084171Nys Nations are all EA (except for the Fox Touhou one but hinaserver lacks that version of the mod regardless). I can make a separate game in EA and include Sturm and Mormacil's Nations that are all EA, but that's about what I can do
>>572089848I think that's better, since merged ages always sucks imho.
>>572088480Case insensitive filenames moment, I uploaded it and will fix this issue properly tonighthttps://hinaserver.net/mods/119thank you for finding all these edge cases anon
>>572089935>>572089848Should I delete the existing Sturm game, if we are gonna have a second Sturm+ EA game regardless? Eh, but what if someone wants to pick the funny rabbit nation? If Warhammer can get away with 2 games, I think Sturm can too
Enkidu Shaman are so great.
>>572090837Ur has mother oak up, he is the THREAT.
>>572090837I've found two magic sites total, searching with my best mage.I'm doomed
>>572092076I'm not site searching
you can site search?
>>572090837That's a comfy as fuck corner.I'm getting very mixed results. Got a province with one site, another with 6. Searched multiple paths at 2
>>572093027Please elaborate your question. Are you one of the newbies?
>>572093232I will answer your question with a sexy fire giant instead, yeah i am not wasting time searching there is only 40 turns left!
https://hinaserver.net/game/62This one, gents, is gonna push the server to its limits. There's so many options, I might need a bigger map, which is fine, cause if we get over 10 players, I got me a 278 province map we can use
>>572094238
>>572098676Real life huskarl spotted
>>572098676yeah, it is an error involving the Yuletide goat pretender and a snowman, I was curious if we could bruteforce it regardless, but it seems we'll have to play without the Krampus nation
>>572099241Thats offensive to huskarls
>>572098676>>572099349skill issue
I dont know what magic school to research, so many options
>>572100828What magic paths do you have the most access too?
should ModMadness be without vanilla? that still leaves us with 22 nations
>>572101304Usually death
>>572103821Enchantment 5 is usually the first big research target for fighting with death magic. That gives you horde of skeletons. Enchantment 4 also gives you access to twiceborn which is nice. Ench 6 gets you rigor mortis, which is very nice too when you have lots of undead
>>572106514Uh, i assumed evocation was the "kill shit" branch of magic, seems like i was wrong
>>572108645It is, if you have the paths for it.Take MA Machaka for example. Their rec anywhere Witchdoctors have F1N1D1. With a gem or better, jar of fire they can Phoenix Power up to F2, cast Eagle Eyes, and then proceed to advance and cast extremely accurate fireballs which won me the game against a Sceleria player as they blew away the hordes.Death likes Enchantment and Thaumaturgy, especially if you're facing another death nation and can spam Wither Bones for example. Just erases six squares of undead but takes D3 to cast.
>>572108645Loosely speaking yes thats what evocation is for. But straight up killing shit isn't death magics most reliable focus. Shadowblast is a pretty good death evocation but costs 1 gem per cast, which is expensive. Deaths best combat evocations are mostly locked behind the death/fire crosspath (banefire spells)Death magic likes to spam summons until the enemy gets too tired to fight anymore. Horde of skeletons + rigor mortis is brutal to deal with, especially as a nation with high encumbrance troops.
https://hinaserver.net/game/62https://hinaserver.net/game/60https://hinaserver.net/game/613 modded games, 2 MA (Sturm, Confluence), one EA (the SNM Collection)if it all goes well, I can try to host more experiment nation mods, in the future
yooo, someone picked the Made In Abyss Nation! Potentially insane artifacts and free Empowerment, but most of your mages are stuck in the capital delving and might explode or go crazy.Tell me how it goes
The arena hungers for more monkey blood
>>572079520Rip. Not using Astral though, for already specified reasons. What about an item of some kind?>>572089296>Faery TrodSounds dope. I’ll have a look at it later, didn’t even know such a spell existed!>>572090837Ahh I prefer the EA tien chi mages, far more modular and kino.
>>572093539You will get btfo late game if you dont have good gem income

>>572130483But EA is scary and full of beasts I can't comprehend
>>572130483Sounds based, how long you up for? I’ve been playing.. the free version [;)] not on steam, and its been a hot minute since I last played multi, is it still play be email or how does it work now? I’d need to purchase the full game (non demo) version on steam first, good thing its on sale
>>572130483How vanilla? Is there a cave layer? I kinda want to join as Pyréne.
>>572133993Honestly just pick a mid faction and throne rush, seems to do the job
>>572134108Play by email is over! Rip llamaserver. >>572134108Basically, you need to connect to the server from the game itself, there are no old shenanigans with sending your turns by email.>>572134278Random map with a cave layer, yes.
>>572134524>>572134727Ahh okay, gotcha.. and I’ll use grok to fill in the blanks once I get the ball gets rolling. What time you start? Do you see the pretenders before the game starts or nah? I can’t remember any of this shit last time I did multi was dom4 about 8-10 years ago lol
>>572135427>pretendersSHITi meant nation’s obviously ;)
>>572135427I think I will start after a week, maybe earlier if we will get a nice number of players before that. You only see nations and pretender names.
>>572135738>a week at the latestAlright good to know, how many slots you got?
>>572136001No upper limit (except for the number of possible nations, of cource)
>>572136414Alright.. ballpark ~ 8 players or so?
>>572136490Who knows, or even, "it depends".
>>572137070Sounds good, got 1 nation/pretender joined so far, I’ll probably be along in the next day or so. It’s a little dependent but should be viable for me to do
KAILASA WHY?!?!? WE WERE BROTHERSAlso no sloops means my pretender is now permanently afflicted, great. Another shitty part of vanilla
>>572140248What? Thought you guys were playing with slops enabled.. lol
>>572140578It's still fun but man, you never really know how much you appreciate slops until it's gone

>TURN 14 OF THE ARENANothing happened.Point for Lanka
Orange is auspicious colour on the arena. Both Muspel and Lanka doing well.
>>572148408How so
>>572149979
>>572143868tbf poison dragon is probably one of the worst onesthe number of people i see though suggesting to cast foul vapours, even if your nation doesn't have any kind of natural poison res, is insanely high. idk what it is about that spell that makes everyone not give a fuck about friendly fire and it harming themselves as much as the enemy.
>>572151024if you have the paths to cast it you can definitely cast battlefield wide poison resist can be worth it for sure
>>572151643sure, feels bad man tho 'before i can this battlefield wipe i have to wait until ench8 and spend x more gems so i don't obliterate myself'always wind up envious of other nations with inbuilt res that lets them just instantly start dropping heat/grip/wrath/vapours etc
>>572152152the 20aoe poison ward is really early on can be good enough. And if youre a communion nation you just cast resist poison so your slaves all get it guaranteed as well
>>572152152Poison ward and gift of the serpent works fine if you have any native N mages, although you will be spending more gems on the poison ward than the foul vapors. Poison ward is also PR 10 instead of PR 5 like serpent's blessing which is a nice boon as you really need 10 PR to sit in foul vapors for a long while.
LArpmin, could you give me pls +12 hours on the current timer, I couldn't finish my turn, and cant before tomorrow night probably
>>572156007It has been extended
>>572076745>>572126402Magic duel vulnerability really isn't that much of an issue for an immobile. Either it won't see battle in the first place due to being an immobile without teleport, or you'll have to deal with the possibility. If you have any astral access at all, or even find some lizard shamans, the odds of them getting dueled in a battle go way down if you bring a dozen other astral mages.
>>572161115>Either it won't see battle in the first place due to being an immobile without teleportIf you're vulnerable to duel as an immobile. Don't you in 99% of cases have teleport available?
>magic duel >laughs in golem
I FINALLY HAVE DOMINIONS 6 IN MY $TEAM L1BRARY OOOOOOOOOOOOOUGGHHGGHGGHHHGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. (Imagine that the pic says Dominions 6 instead)
>>572163605That's my point exactly. You're not opening up a weakness by taking astral, but rather opening up the ability to actually use it in battle. And move it around for other shit like ritual range and discount sites, which is very useful as well.
>>572168537Dear lord look at the belly
>>572161115Tbh the only reason id want to move an immobile like irminsul in the first place is to use him as a faux SC with giga nature power, but honestly, at least he can (?) break sieges if (??) cap is sieged, so I suppose that’s something. Regardless, Id rather not give a 250 HP tree with giga bless a literal kill switch just so he can move around the map if faery trod doesnt work
>>572169040I was more intrigued about how disgruntled she looks that they’re playing dominions instead of with her.. bit meta ngl
>>572169215The winner gets her obviously
>>572168836Shit I never thought about it like that.. still, it does destroy like all his combat viability if someone has an astral mage one point higher lol risky. Besides that I have no idea whether faery trod would work on him or not. People say Cloud Trapeze wouldnt.. But faery trod? Also isnt there some glamor spell where you can create a mobile clone of yourself that is basically an illusion/projection that can cast spells?
>>572169334They’re fighting over her? Maybe they’re choosing who gets her first or who gets to do what because she looks like the kind of girl who might want both of them!
>>572169067You can't actually break sieges with immobiles, though you can set them to patrol and they'll fight incoming armies. It's a killswitch that will never see a chance to be set off unless you choose to do so. Sieges can be teleported out of, astral assassins don't really exist outside of LA R'yleh, and assassins aren't likely to actually hit your tree unless they're in a fort by themselves for some reason.Strands of Arcane power exists but I don't think I've ever seen anyone cast it, and I've been playing since the Dom4 days. Anyone with a big enough astral mage and the research will be putting the pearls towards Arcane Nexus instead.
>>572169564Project Body exists but is a bit of a pain since the remote illusion can't use gems for any big spells.Simulacrum clones you, but it's a perfect copy so if your body is immobile so is the clone. It's better to think of it more like Twiceborn, it's an insurance policy that will (probably) bring you back if you die.
>>572170036Interesting, but honestly I like putting my pretenders in harms way too much for it to be viable, especially with a strong incarnate bless, its too much an achilles heel to me, but I understand what you’re saying
>>572170519Also consider that outside of LA, you'll see a lot of matchups where your opponent doesn't actually have any astral mages. And even in LA there's plenty of non-astral nations, and indie astral mages are mostly nonexistent.>>572169564If someone has an S4 mage or whatever, they're unlikely to have enough of them to be willing to risk it, assuming you're taking the bare minimum of S3 for teleport (and I'd strongly consider going higher, big astral has a ton of good rituals and combat spells). Remember, magic duel doesn't take boosters or communions into account and you have to be at least six levels higher to guarantee victory. The actual risk is someone willing to suicide enough cheap S1s to roll the dice enough.
I caved in with the discount and purchased the game, if the pirate copy doesnt update guess i am using the official oneIt didnt came with a keycode however, i assume the steam version simply doesnt ask for it

>>572176851>>572178239It gets worse the longer the game goes on, /domg/ veterans usually have a couple games on the go in different stages. I am in three games right now, one is still early game, another is mid game, and the other one is late game. If you have an hour or two free every day you can easily do 4-5 games unless you are being a sweaty discordfag. Even more if you are unemployed>>572231984You can play multiplayer here but not on illwinters server. A couple games just opened up if you want to jump right into multiplayer. Join the vanilla one, you will get steamrolled but because of the sale you'll at least be playing with some newfrens
>>572231984>Can I play multiplayer or do I need a legit copy for that?I don't really keep track of this, but afaik you could play multiplayer, but if theres an update mid game you'll be locked out. The longer standard mp games can last months. If you could find a short form blitz game on a discord server to join maybe you could do that. Not sure what the go is with the pirated game keys is. The game checks for duplicate cd keys in a mp game though I thinkIf you are brand new to the game, you can spend hours playing single player to even figure out wtf you are doing anyway. You'd know if you want to buy it well before you'd be multiplayer ready, unless you are a psycho that loves getting stomped in multiplayer at least.

Is starving a fort ever relevant?
>>572245456Sometimes, but usually not.You can do it in a situation where storming the fort would cost you too many deaths even if you'd win, and you aren't in a rush.If there's a lot of elites in the fort, and you have access to spells that can speed up the process it's a decent way to soften them up.Some nations will have access to nature mages and supply items which would also make that harder to do.Some nations have supply weaknesses due to having troops with the gluttony tag, they are also a bit more exploitable
>>572245756Do rephaim still gobble up pops from within a besieged fort?
>>572247161I dunno for certain, but I don't see any reason why they wouldn't mechanically speaking
>>572062260>Not anon, but the bribery spell one of Tilea heroes is supposed to autocast at the start of battle doesn't appear to actually cast in the first place. It is supposed to convert your enemies to gladiators. Which means that when they deal or get dealt damage in a battle, they die afterwards no matter whatThough now that I think about it, I had an issue with the bretonnian duke spells. Where they wouldn't cast without some finagling (like I needed a dummy spell that then had the real spell as secondary effect.)>>572064764Yeah I will make it so that the event can only happen in land provinces. >>572170331Bummer. Sorry about the delay in responding I was setting up my game to play multi, I forgot all about this password shit and the pain of testing fucking builds out because illwinter still doesn’t let you load created pretenders in SP lol>>572172217Heres the thing, the bless only allowed for two points in astral, so that means empowering to even be able to cast teleport during play, and sure, mages with more than 3 astral aren’t common, but in nations like rlyeh it more or less is, and you never know what your opponent is going to pick, could be full astral. So I can’t really take it In good conscience especially if faery trod actually works for immobiles
>>572250840How does that work if it rolls nature 4+ times?

Which mages are capital recruit only makes a pretty big difference in how you set up your magic portfolio. The sacreds may seem kinda similar but they aren't the sme kind of troop.MA sacreds are fat stacks of hp with massive prot in the cold, while la sacreds are big can opener berserkers meant for raping through big late age armor
>>572252060It has 27 magic paths. Thats absurd. In vanilla a nations most powerful mage might have 6 or 7 with a lucky random topsI dunno about the weird immortality thing going on in the description, but I bet thats bullshit too
>>572252638I am still newbie navigating at magic to be honest so i am kinda lost on how to go about it>>572252832Oh, but at such cost surely its better to just deploy many weaker mages or somehow snipe it with magic? i assume you cant just barricade it inside a fortress and be untouchable
Found another one>>572252060>27 magic pathsThat's pretender god with shitty scales territory
You gotta admit it though, level 27 priest would be funny.
>>5722529901000 gold is an absolute bargain for 27 magic paths by vanilla standards, even if it takes 3 turns to recruit for 6 commander points.Tuatha lords in vanilla are like 700 gold for a 5 path mage.I don't really play mods so I'm sure i don't have all the context of the mage and the nation. But at a glance its absolutely bonkers
>>572253057yup, that's the halloween Nation. It has interesting mechanics, shitty troops, except the vampires, and your commanders are either frightening, versatile casters, have reanimate on kill, or insta kill move via the Flailing Hands, functioning like a mobile trap.>>572250312As for the True Demiurges, you only get 9 of them, they are your strongest mages by far, your less Daemons don't reach level 3 magic and if you aren't ready to pop their reincarnation ritual on the turn you receive the report of their death, they are gone forever. Only another of the Nine can revive them. They are basically Nazca, only even more dependent on their mummies and they only ever get 9 total
>>572253741That's kinda the fun I'm kinda expecting to be rolled over in the first war because they found their OP shit and I'm still muddling around.
I will not claim Khora isn't one of the stronger nations in the mod, but the Nine True Demiurges are their biggest gimmick, everything else is tied to expensive rituals or items that only high level Demiurges can use.The Mechanicus nation, with it's blimps and iron dragons is also really dangerous. The Highman Nation of Archons relies on getting their Mages and high level Astral and Divine Magic, letting them pull bullshit moves like Blessing the Entire battlefield, stealing sacreds and so onNemton, meanwhile, has a single gimmick: Forest Good, Nature Gem good, Leaving Forest Bad, Spam Tree With Boobs to Make More Tree
I always thought Confluence's rework of Abysia was more bullshit. Not only is the entire nation more fiery as a whole, with even basic infantry having aoe fire on hit effects, death explosion and fire power, but one of their Pretenders is a Dragon with a Soul Slay flame breath
>>572255523That is a nice looking tree though
hmmm
>>572256156it is my fav nation, right next to Illusion City, home of Glamour spam. It can also go through a schism via a ritual becoming the City of False Horrors, home of Death-Glamour spam.
>>572239747jotunheim has blood on every fort mage, which means they can do the typical giant nation turbo sabbath infinite skelly tactic. utgard trades the blood on every mage for astral instead. you need to jump through some hoops like forging slave matrices if you want to turbosabbath properly. thrymshirding are mostly just lineholders with their chill aura and high prot, while garmhirding are meant to be able to kill pretty much anything
>>572256472Thats a nice rock>>572256156do not cum on the trees
>>572256472You will need those 500 research points. Diamedulla is all about the rituals, your mages are all insane and go more insane the longer they live, so that head start is needed. Your troops exist just to die for spare parts and anything else is spent in even more rituals for empowering them. They have really nice national items and their version of the Abominable Arms is a ritual, meaning it stacks with Copper/silver/abominable Arms for 3-4-5 extra arms! You will be very insane after the procedure though.
>>572251237The theme of that Jotun line is that they're kinda dumb and their Jarls are constantly getting manipulated by hags while their race stagnates and loses their power.
>>572231107wait what the fuck? where did my pretender go?
>>572252060If that guy was a god he'd reasonably be so expensive you have a whopping 2 increases from the absolute worst scales. To be allowed the privilege of still being dormant. I picked the lion man to at least discount two of the paths and also be a titan style chassis.

>>572259381He's an assassin pretender lmao>>572259153He's got helmet of invis, charcoal shield, sword of swiftness, elemental armor, ranger boots, dancing trident, cat's eye amulet.Personally I think this is a breach of the game's integrity because you are required to patrol to get him out with a LOT of spirit sight units which will kill every single scout, essentially ruining the game. I find it funny that it happened to me and especially my god, but it needs to stop now or nobody will be able to even watch a single fight again.
>>572259153We've got a loose asshole batman!
>>572257393Its a shame insanity is so cripplingly bad looks like a fun nation, wanted to find a modded one with broken assassins and their one seems fun but its also insane, so it'll kill itself so often if it doesn't have hide or sneak as an action.
>>572259748Best part about turning your people into necromorphs is all the spare parts, they are cheap for what they offer, but Flesh Golems are Assassin 0s so they need to be spammedAbysia Reborn is much better for Assassin spam. It's EA Abysia, just better, meaning you have Demonbred Assassins, which you can outfit with unique national items that turbo boost their killing power
>>572259153ok that's funny
I dont see how having an assassin murder other pretenders is an "Asshole" tactic
>>572260848Killing pretenders and mages is not the problem it's awesome. But how do we get to still watch the fights while trying to patrol him out
>>572260848Asshole Batman is the name of the assassin tendie build though.
>Do my turn>Realize I forgot to do something>Go back to redo it>It is now the next turn>See thisAll right, which one of you decided to hit the arena with a bunch of rituals? Also the scout I had sitting in the arena got killed by the assassin tendie. Poor guy.
Hmm, I wonder who could have possibly sent a holy crusade to my province, Scooby!
>>572260848If you want to hunt him down you need to patrol. He's invisible, so normal patrol tactics don't work, you need spirit sight. Now, tell me, what happens to all the other scouts, including the Game Master's who are trying to watch over what's happening in the Arena? They die as collateral. To say nothing of how much scary the Middle just got. Instead of a 1v1 slug fest, your most valued commander can get sniped by a 3rd party and lose you the battleIt also incentivizes a Space Race for the next iteration of the Arena. If one guy goes Hades and your nation can go Hades, but doesn't, you are at a massive disadvantage, because your opponent can Assassinate your Pretender, but you can't do the same. Now that begs the question, what if EVERYONE went Hades? What happens then?

>>572261817This is like the equivalent of Rlyeh in MA winning arena lol.. death match is such a may may
>>572262021For some reason every Archonia pretender I make gets flagged as being in violation of the game rules, even the ones not exclusive to the nation and even when I don't spend any points. This doesn't happen with any of the other Confluence nations I checked.
>TURN 17 OF THE ARENAPoint for C'tis!>rules controversyI already considered the Hades thing while writing the rules and strongly considered picking him myself. My general approach was that it'd be better to see if the strategy absolutely dominates and ban it in a future rerun than to preemptively block strategies.I do concede that it'd be a shame to run out of scouts in the arena, though, but it is how it is.I plan to sacrifice a bit of research to cast some kind of scrying spell just so I can keep reporting in case it becomes a necessity. Would appreciate if no counter measures are taken against that.To clarify a point where I think the rules aren't quite clear: it is forbidden to launch assassination attempts within any player island (other than one's own). Black servants with rods ain't covered, though. Patrol your shit.

>>572276132Well, at least I have a point now. Surely the time of the Zucc, who is definitely a human and not a lizard, will come again.
>>572274835If you do a repeat of this, you should try some method of giving every nation automatic vision of the arena. Maybe a Omniscience style immobile shadow servant, or a scry site or something. I think it'd be within the spirit of the game.

>>572304447>bermundaBermuda?
>>572300719Water has frozen heart, which is an extremely good spell, but its the only good spell they have. Fire has good spells too, falling fires is highly underrated for how powerful it can be against an opponent who doesn't have a lot of fire res. Its also a decent thugging path, with two decent early buffs (summer heat, fire shield) and phoenix pyre. Fire also has one of the best battlefield wipes in the form of flamestorm, a highly underrated spell in Vafur Flames, and of course flames from the sky. Nontheless, I think its overall the second weakest path, but not a bad path. I'm not unhappy to have fire on a nation, I think its reputation comes in part from multiple big fire nations being very committed to fire and nothing else, specifically Abysia and Marignon.

>>572324587Idk man it's basically only there if somehow the enemy has a 25 fire resist unit cause pillar of fire is 35 ap damage instead and will almost always do more damage.
>>572310482Waters underwater (lol) capability shouldn’t be brought into question. It also has some nice crossover with other paths (claymen) and some nice ice spells for aoe damage, plus rain if you’re going against a fire faction, I dont think it wise to rule it out but it’s definitely one of the more situational paths for sure. I never really dabble in blood myself for anything other than national summons or bless builds so in my opinion, despite obviously having a strong end game (what path really doesn’t?) to me its blood that is the weakest, because its more situational than even water. If your nation doesn’t use it or benefit from it its just an accessory, the same can’t be said of water because of its utility underwater (lol)

>>572358324I can't think of a situation where I'd ever wanna do this. 1 extra path max and only if i really need an expander.Either do it cheaper on a immobile or human tendy, or find a titan that already has most of the paths you need
You're going to take my province? I have 600 stealthed monkey ninjas in your backline. They're Inside your house.
>>572358538Are expanders not just the best strategy de facto? Like more provinces = more gold = more units = more winningHow do you win with a god that isn't awake or can't expand easily? Can they really beat someone with a 200 hp stoneskin regenerating big white bull?
>>572358538I need an expander and I need a certain crosspath and a certain bless, simple as.
>>572359829Some nations can expand good enough with just a bless, or even just their mundane troops. With a cheaper god you can get more magic paths to cover what your nation doesn't have, or get a more expensive bless. It depends on the nation.Expanders are good on most nations, though depending on the map settings you are playing on that may only translate into 2-3 extra provinces before you are locked in by your neighbours
>>572359829>Can they really beat someone with a 200 hp stoneskin regenerating big white bull? With research, easily. He only needs to get hit by soul slay once. Hell even a decent group of hard hitting elites could kill him early game, talking about stuff that could hit for 25+
>>572359829Bull isn't a great example since in addition to >>572360710 it also hard fatigues out so any nation with undead hordes hard counters it.Now, a mindless inanimate like the Colossal Fetish that can move is a whole other ball game. Expands great and also helps later. How would you like to cast Earthquake instantly turn 0?End of the day, don't just crutch on awakes. Some nations really like scales like MA Ulm or Uruk, and taking an awake just hinders that for little benefit since they expand fine without it.
>>572277718I did try. There was something when making the map that I thought meant no fog of war, and I also did click something of the sort in the Hinaserver settings. Guess it wasn't the right option or something.Would be ideal, though
>>572359829It takes time to translate territory into military power, so if you get annoyingly large too early you could just get jumped by your neighbors. Expanders are really just for nations that struggle to expand, they're mostly not very good SCs past your first war or two.>200 hp stoneskin regenerating big white bullA properly geared and buffed titan can just melee it to death in a few turns.
>>572359829>Can they really beat someone with a 200 hp stoneskin regenerating big white bull? Will help you win your first war, but it won't help you siege down the capital. >>572361381Honestly I like taking the SC as Ulm, because even though the troops are splendid early game, if you play strong indies you don’t know what you’re running into, plus I like having nature from the word go, some nice spells in there which help the lineup and grabbing land even more quickly just helps speed up the process. Blitzkrieg ulm is the best! >>572369465I'd argue theres more total good monsters that can actually do their job for fair price than there is titans.I can think of maybe 5 titans that I'd call worth using, and sometimes that is heavily restricted to nations that can actually make them gear early too. Waifu of war, the aztec snake lady, keeper of the bridge (only because cheap), forester bob (cheap), dagon (possibly the best one). Not including non dom 3's titanlikes such as telkhine godking or bronze colossus, gorgons etc. I've probably missed some. Surely some of the multi armed monkey tendies are good maybe?Monsters got 2 bulls, 5 dragons, drakon, erf snek, man eater, gold lion, antlion, nordic snek, 2 headed wyrm, liches, ghost king etc. There is absolutely loads of both bad monsters and titans though, while almost every dom 4 and dom 1 is useable. The good titans are rarer
>>572371010Anon, there's so many titans or titan adjacent you're leaving outGreat Mother, Keepers, Eldest Cyclops, Tiwaz of war, Duiu of War, Mother of Storms, Kami of Storms, Oni god, and this is basegame, sloops made even more titans viable
>>572372303I've literally never seen anybody take a great mother, though i've theory tested her a few times, just always found a more cost effective option. Tiwaz is good, duiu are meh, mother of storms meh, don't remember kami of storms. I did forget about titan of wisdom and war with armor and fear. I don't think any of the jap goblin line ever wants an oni god, ea gets them for free, ma only cares about scales, la needs an amphibian.Crafting titans like cyclops or neter of crafts maybe in specific circumstances I could see it, he's not a premium combat titan though.I still think I could find more bar clearing monsters though

>>572359829Yes. The majority of games I've seen a good expansion and first war is what wins games. It's very rare for someone to win who didnt eat someone alive for 30+ provinces early on. More mages, more research, more troops. Hard to beat. Even if they get coalitioned they had a hire chance to win than one of the smaller coalition members who will just die to the next biggest expansion/war winner Thus, to get a good first war you should go at the very least dormant if not awake to fight early.
>>572375548I've won games where I only got bigger through vulturing until I was too big to stop. Similar to Confluence Nemeton or Warhammer Cloven Horde, they are a nomadic horde nation with non-standard Forts. They have expensive Palisades and one proper Fort, their capital, which is a Unit, which they can move around. If they reach a Throne, all Sacreds are buffed (Attack, Defense, Magic Res).
>>572356957You mean Kaisala/Lanka/Patala? There's no Hyperborea and Vanheim is based on a post-Ragnarok Asgard, where the only thing left is the descendants of the Lesser Norse Gods, with the remaining Aesir being Pretenders.Ind is based on a Middle Asian Kingdom located between India and China. As for the Monkey Nation itself, it's just taking a page out of history. Just like with the Vedic and Aryans installing their horrific personality cult that led to the Caste System, the Yaksha and Rakshasa experimented on Monkeys to turn them into Vanara and built a Caste system favoring Warriors and White Furred Mystics ruling over lesser Castes, then the Naga colonized them by pretending to be Yaksha.
>>572356957The most blatantly shallow area is East Asia. TC and Yomi/Shinu/Jomon are far from enough and could use a few faction splits across eras to give them some flavor. Would also be interesting to have nations covering pre-LA Mongols, Tibetan Buddhism, the Ainu among others.

>>572380309The Ainu before being culturally assimilated weren't really numerous or developed enough to have a military. You'd just have unarmored guys with spears and then maybe some bear memes. The Korean medieval kingdoms are probably the biggest missing nation theme so far, unless you're a real big fan of like medieval Vietnam or Laos.

PERPETUAL STORM
Man Geolland is such a poorly designed nation. It's a low resource, gold-capped nation with cheap foreign recruitment, a Cold 5 Cold Power gimmick that you can dump down into with two of the pretenders, and it gets an event site turn 12 that tanks your death scales in exchange for Cold Power mage thugs, which encourages you to dumpster your scales and take a hell bless, but this won't help you expand because you have no sacred troops save for the unbarded flying horse for one of your cavalry units and a conjuration spell that costs 20 death gems (your cap gives you 1 a turn) and lets you summon an amazing summon [7 +1 per caster level above D2] flying-when-blessed undead with base stats on par with light infantry indies. But you don't even need a bless to expand because you can just spam out dozens of very cheap def 16 demon spearmen and shortbow archers a turn (which really should be slaves too if you read their lore descriptions). So scales doesn't do much for you despite your scales troops being pretty alright, but neither does a bless although you might as well, so you just kind of get this big bless that only your mage thugs and hilariously inefficient summons that you need to design a pretender to salvage can use. But then you're slowly popkilling your provinces on a gold-capped nation. So whatever choice you make, it's suboptimal. There's no minmax, only minmid. Stuff like this makes you appreciate how much better conceived and versatile a lot of the vanilla nations are, but also how well-designed DE is by comparison.
>>572424956Also, they get these shapeshifting Wolf Warriors which are their best recruitable line infantry, but if you want a commander that can lead more than 10 of them around (along with half their troop roster), you need to hire an indie commander keklmao because their only leadership 50's are their 315 gold Holdaz mages which also happen to be their most upkeep efficient researchers, and their 345 gold Wuid mages which can summon 3 Wolf Warriors a turn saving you 66 gold and 93 recruitment points, so you'd rather just have them sitting around doing that, although you can pretty easily crash your economy doing this because Wolf Warriors are 18g/yr in upkeep, more than your Black Rider cavalry because the riders are 0 and the horses are 16 for some reason. As for their shapeshifting, because their wolf chassis hits old age at 24, they shapeshift into weak old man wolves that die immediately. What's really funny is that only their wolf forms are sacred, so you can take Unaging to negate this. They're still probably gonna die immediately though because they're 10hp prot2 def 10.Another funny oversight is that their scout with spying is like 20% higher upkeep than one of their commanders who also has spying and stealth 70 on top of being able to lead 50 demon infantry, all of which are stealthy for this nation, on top of being an H1. You still want indie scouts for regular scouting though because they're cheaper than both. A less funny oversight is that the fucking PNGs on their spear infantry units are so tall with empty space that they cover up like 80% of whatever button happens to be above them in the UI.
>>572424956>>572425140Wao
>>572424956I see someone else is testing the modnations before deciding.Toxandria seems intriguing. On one hand your recruit anywhere sacred does horrifying amounts of damage to anything above size 2, but on the other they're 30 gold each and have 6 HP, lackluster protection, and only 14 defense. The omnipresent blinding attacks are less oppressive than I expected, easy MR negates and only a 50% chance to be used makes it a bit of a gamble, though with how many manlets you can field for cheap it'll probably cripple elites and thugs. The 5 gold flailmen are going to be horrifying if strength-buffed, though. 10 attacks per square (plus the blinding attempts) is a hell of a drug, even if the individual attacks don't hit too hard. The frog cavalry really doesn't seem worth the gold compared to buying the frogs on their own, the only real standout part is the armor-breaking gobble on the frogs.
I should be able to cast Proud Steed on my centaur hunnies
>>572427660I too ignore huge walls of text about modded factions being unbalanced when posted in the general discussion section of the game instead of directly to the modder in question

>>572433929You got me! feeling proud of yourself?
>>572429820Yeah it looks like all of these mod nations have at least one unit that costs a crap ton of gold and recruitment points and no resources. Hell, even the rainbow giants that normally all cost like 90 resources get this motherfucker that can throw infinite aoe1 literal stars at people.
>>572435084Bwuh
>>572435084I'm a bit terrified of that nation. They kinda just seem like Jotuns on crack, and I don't know if the no healing outside of labs and the usual vulnerabilities of being a magic being make up for it.
>>572436016I agree, they're actually quite cost-effective too even at like 100-150 gold a unit, and their best one probably isn't even their sacred but either that one or the warhammer guy that flattens a square a turn. And then you look at the bee nation's sacred and feel sad because you're spending 50 gold for a unit that does 10 damage with a weak poison effect in exchange for a special ability that makes it... cost 80 gold a year in upkeep.
>>572437981The whole eating gold thing is flavorful but god do the bees not justify the price.
>>572437981The smaller, cheaper one isn't bad either, one of the few vulnerabilities the bigger ones have is projectiles hitting them in the head (where they only have a mere 11 prot, still enough to tank plenty of arrows with their mountain of HP) but they've got 23 body protection and 26 head.
>>572424956>>572425140Have you tried to prophet a Demon yet? Since demons are slaves in Santaland, this makes him lesser royalty, giving him a red hat and red clothes, like promoting an Elf into a Lesser Santa. Another funny thing is that Lesser Demons have rituals that involve killing Krampus Demons to learn Fire/Blood magic, through an Event (I think a yearly one, like their Yuletide) they even get a new Sprite! But the Fire Blood is not guaranteed. And because they are a Magic Demon now, the peasants get scared and kill him in another Event. On the other hand Demon Lesser Santa does have a very funny hat and gets Blood Searcher 1 if you empower him in Blood, since Krampus Demons feed on children.
>>572438829It's one thing if you make a giant race with that theme, but I have no idea what the thought process was for making a low resource insect swarm faction where all your units cost as much to upkeep as colossi. In just a few turns of recruitment you're gonna be up to a couple hundred gold in upkeep. Even lore-wise it makes no sense because that's technically a single ton of gold these size 2 units are consuming every month.
>>572437981The Death Watcher Bee race may be weaker than the God Giant race, but which would you rather play? You already have giants in Dominions, but anthropomorphic giant Bees riding even bigger Dire Bees is exotic, it is New. Yes, there’s that new Chinese Nation based on the Han Dynasty and Three Kingdoms era with swarms of bees dreaming human forms, but not everyone can appreciate the multiple references to Chinese literature. Everyone can appreciate Bees that ride other Bees
>>572441447I reject your bee propaganda. Their existence is disgraceful!
>>572442121Ah, you must be a Snail, correct?
>>572441372I was really expecting the nation to have a huge income bonus or some crazy-efficient alchemy rituals to deal with it but I guess they're just expected to cope somehow?
well niblungheim seems bugged. even after you discover the deeper level to explore you never actually fight the harder assassination battles which means you never get the better rewards. sad cause the nation is cool otherwise. being able to hire linnorms with 7 magic levels for 500 gold is fucked up. i should test the made in abyss nation properly to see if their delving stuff works properly now.....
>>572441447>You already have giants in DominionsBut can those giants melt the ozone layer and give everyone cancer?
>>572443030Remember you can only recruit troops if you have a Queen and a Queen is only fertile if she has a mate, so you are constantly bleeding resources for every fort, while everyone else builds it once (a problem Nemeton shares, but they don’t pay for Forts, their Bramble Forts are free, but depend on local growth scales to randomly sprout, they also don’t need forts to recruit units). The author must’ve thought that a Swarm faction that cannot be starved would be pretty powerful, but while everyone else is making Cauldrons and Summer Swords, you can’t really combat your supply problems, because gold cannot be farmed. Despite the fact you are a race of bees that eat gold and so you could literally have Gold Makers that produce Golden Honey.>>572443485Not surprised.
